Eddie Brill wrote in a tribute on Facebook, “I just heard the news of the passing of my dear friend Alan Kalter. He was so lovely and hilarious and talented and he will be missed by so many. His family and friends and by audiences everywhere. In comedy, the greats are all willing to do what it takes to get the laugh. They are the most vulnerable and not afraid how it looked. Alan was willing to commit to getting the laugh. He’d come and introduce the shows I hosted at the Friars Club and always wrote a hilarious piece to kick off the evening. We had a group of folks on the Letterman crew that would meet monthly for dinners and Alan was always there as well. I am sending my love to his amazing wife Peggy and to all who knew and loved him, both onstage and off. Oddly enough I was dreaming of being at the Late Show and woke up to the message that Alan passed away.

I will miss you buddy, yet you will always be with me.”
