Revealing the news via Twitter, the former senator announced that her husband Bob Dole died on early Sunday morning in his sleep.

Bob was a longtime Kansas senator and a republican nominee for president in 1996.

Served his country for 79 years, Bob was a world war veteran who entered politics during 1960s. Bob achieved several feats during his legendary career as he had received Presidential Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal.

Bob died of stage 4 lung cancer.

Elizabeth Dole, a veteran politician is aged 85.

Born in Salisbury, North Carolina on the 29^th of July, 1936, Elizabeth completed her education at the age of 29.

She joined the White House administration at 31 and since then she has been a regular server of the United States.

He husband Bob Dole died at 98.

Elizabeth Dole has 1 child as she is a step-mother of Robin Dole.

Robin was born to her father Bob Dole and her mother Phyllis Holden. Bob and Phyllis married in 1948 and were divorced in 1972.

Fast forward 3 years later, Bob found himself tying the knot with Elizabeth at the Washington National Cathedral.

The couple shared the same roof for 46 years.
