London Marathon 2021 – Sisay Lemma is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who started running at the age of 17. He competed barefoot at first because he didn’t have any running shoes. In 2012, he won the Maratona d’Italia. He won the Orlen Warsaw Marathon in 2013, finished fourth at the Eindhoven Marathon, and fifth at the Tiberias Marathon.

Sisay completed the London Marathon in two hours, four minutes, and one second. He finished third in the London Marathon the previous year with a time of 2:05:45. He finished 27 seconds ahead of Kenya’s Vincent Kipchuma and Mosinet Geremew. Shura Kitata, the defending champion, finished sixth, according to Reuters.

Joyciline Jepkosgei and Sisay Lemma are celebrating victory at the 2021 London Marathon.

Kenya’s Jepkosgei – who triumphed in the New York Marathon in 2019 – won the women’s elite race on Sunday in a time of two hours, 17 minutes and 43 seconds ahead of Degitu Azimeraw of Ethiopia and fellow Kenyan Ashete Bekere.

Defending champion and world-record holder Brigid Kosgei was only fourth.

In the men’s elite race, Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma made a late break to triumph in two hours, four minutes and one second.

Kenya’s Vincent Kipchuma and Mosinet Geremew finished second and third respectively, with last year’s winner Shura Kitata crossing the line in sixth place.

Jepkosgei, however, won the race after making a pivotal move around the 22-mile mark as she stepped up her bid for glory.

She had opted to race in London over the defence of her New York title next month and it paid off.

Charlotte Purdue, who was overlooked by Team GB for this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo, was the first British woman to cross the line.

She ran a personal best of two hours, 23 minutes and 26 seconds, which was just short of Mara Yamauchi’s second place on the British all-time list but well inside the qualifying standard for next year’s World Championships in Oregon.

Lemma’s height details have not been revealed. By the looks of his pictures, he might be around 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Sisay Lemma was born on December 12, 1990, and his current age is 30 years. His full name is Sisay Lemma Kasaye.

 

 

He came fifth at the Dubai Marathon at 2:07:06 in January 2015. He also won the Vienna City Marathon in 2:07:31 in April and the Frankfurt Marathon in 2:06:26 in October that year. Sisay finished fourth at the Dubai Marathon with 2:05:16 in 2016.

What Is Sisay Lemma’s Ethnicity?

Sisay was born and raised in Ethiopia, and his nationality is Ethiopian. However, the details about his ethnicity have not been disclosed.

In 2017 he did not finish the Boston Marathon, but he was third at the Dubai Marathon in January and fourth at the Chicago Marathon in October. Lemma finished in fifth place at Dubai Marathon on January 26, 2018, and he broke the Ljubljana Marathon record in October the same year with the time 2:04:58.

 

 

He improved his personal best to 2:03:36 at the 2019 Berlin Marathon, where he finished third. Sisay finished third at the Tokyo Marathon on March 1, 2020.

Lemma did not begin training early, as he had to concentrate on school first and then helo his parents with farm work, as per Olympics.

He did not have any running shoes and ran barefoot on the grass got the first few months of training. It wasn’t much of a problem for Sisay, but it changed his running style.
