A few years ago, when he was 88 years of age, he was detected to have Alzheimer’s disease. There is news of him passing away on Sunday, November 2021.
He was the winner of the 1968 National Book Award for poetry. Everyone love the legendary and admired his work. His passing news was revealed by Loren Niemi through Facebook.
His obituary has not been released yet publicly so, we do not know how he passed away. His Wikipedia page has not been updated yet on his death.

Robert Bly was married to Carol Bly in 1955. They were together till 1979, however, the couple was not able to continue and got divorced in 1979.
He then got married to his wife Ruth Counsell in 1980. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife. His first wife was also an author. She even won an award for a short story.
They had four children together. He has got stepdaughter and a stepson who unfortunately died in a pedestrian-train accident while he attended a private college in Minnesota.
