An AFL legend has been rushed into intensive care after falling ill from a suspected reaction to a Covid booster shot.
Former Western Bulldogs star Paul Dimattina, 47, has been in hospital for several days after suffering what is believed to be a rare adverse reaction to his Pfizer booster.
Dimattina – who is receiving chemotherapy and suffers from the autoimmune disease myasthenia gravis – has since also contracted the virus itself.
He was put into intensive care on Thursday but is now in a stable condition and will remain in hospital for another week, the Herald Sun reported.

Who Is Paul Dimattina?
Paul Dimattina is a former Australian rules footballer who represented Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League. Dimattina is of Italian descent and the son of former fruiterer Frank Dimattina. He was born on 22 November, 1974.
He is the Western Builds’ representative in the Australian Football League.
Dimattina was picked with the final choice in the 1991 AFL draft after playing for Richmond at the Under 19 level as a 16-year-old in 1991.
Dimattina joined the Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast, Queensland, in 2005.
He scored six goals and was awarded best afield in the Queensland State League Grand Final before retiring from the Sharks and returning to Melbourne.

According to the Herald Sun, Paul Dimattina was severely unwell and suffering from various health issues.
The story went viral on the internet, as Paul is a fan favorite in the Australian Football League.
According to the most recent sources, Paul Dimattina has developed several health problems due to the Pfizer Vaccine shot.
‘I had a reaction to the booster jab but I’ve also now got Covid. I’m fighting with everything I got to get better,’ he told the publication.

‘I didn’t have any symptoms then bang.’
Dimattina’s myasthenia gravis condition causes muscle weakness and affects the nervous system.
His pre-existing condition is believed to have contributed to his reaction from the vaccine.
The 47-year-old spent eight years playing for the Bulldogs before retiring to run South Melbourne’s Lamaro’s Hotel.
In June of this year, Dimattina slammed Victoria’s repeated lockdowns which he claimed were causing ‘financial Armageddon’ and his restaurant to lose $28,000 a week.
Pfizer was rated as one of the greatest vaccines in the United States, and the FDA even approved it.
However, after the instance of the famous AFL Paul, there is a reason for people to be skeptical.
On the other hand, Pfizer has had few adverse incidents and is still considered a good vaccination against the Covid-19 virus.
So, for the time being, Paul Dimattina is in good health and stable, despite being admitted to the hospital.
