Tammy Durand is one of the youngest members of Milwaukee Dancing Grannies. The one who used to smile on everyone’s face through her dancing passed away on Sunday incident at the Waukesha Christmas parade.
Tamara Durand was performing in the 58th annual Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday for the first time with the dream group known as the Dancing Grannies.
But what was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned deadly for dozens of families when a red SUV plowed through barricades and into the gathering.
“Tammy was a super energetic, and jolly person. When she walked into a room, everybody noticed her wide smile,” said Durand’s husband, Dave, to The Daily Beast over the phone interview on Monday.
She died doing what she loves, dancing, or we can say, She practically danced her way through life. It was her first time performing with them, which is also what makes it so heartbreaking.

Dave, Tamara’s husband, is currently bereaved after losing her wife at such a young age.
The couple was high school best friends before marrying each other. However, Dave was not present at the parade at the time of the incident that took her wife’s life.

According to his interview with the daily beast, he rushed to the incident scene as soon as he heard about the crash. But sadly, the place was already sealed, and he didn’t get to see her.
He added that the mother of three’s grief was still raw and that funeral arrangements were in limbo. “Unfortunately, because it’s a crime scene, an autopsy is required,” Durand explained.
“We’re on hold because I identified her body last night.”

After the death of Durand and other members of the group, the organization released a statement expressing their heartfelt condolences.
“Those who died were incredibly passionate Grannies,” the organization said in a statement released on Monday. “Their eyes twinkled with the joy of being a Grannie.” They were the “glue” that held us all together.”
The Waukesha Police Department confirmed Monday that Darrell Brooks was arrested as a sole suspect in the SUV attack. He is a 39-year-old sex offender who had recently been out on bail on reckless endangerment charges.
According to Waukesha Chief Daniel Thompson, the tragic incident occurred just minutes after Brooks was involved in a domestic dispute.
Durand, Sorenson, and Owen were also members of the dance group, as confirmed by the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies team.
Five people, including the members of Dancing grannies, were killed in the incident. In addition, the attack injured dozens of paradegoers, including at least 18 children.
