Dr. Kamal Ranadive was a cell biologist from India. Her research on the relationship between cancer and viruses has received a lot of praise. She was also instrumental in the creation of the Tissue Culture Laboratory and the Experimental Biology Laboratory.
Dr. Kamal, who worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross as a Senior Research Officer, has always advocated for women in STEM fields. She has also been referred to as the scientific field’s “unsung hero.”

Kamal Ranadive Death Cause
Dr. Kamal Ranadive’s cause of death has not been made public. She took her last breath at the age of 83.
Born to parents Dinesh Dattatreya Samarth and Shantabai Dinkar Samarth, she had a doctorate in Cytology. Having completed her Masters’ from Agriculture College at Pune, she studied cytogenetics of Annonaceae as her major.
Prior to joining Agriculture College, she was a student at Fergusson College. Her main subjects during her undergraduate studies were Botany and Zoology. As a matter of fact, she graduated with a distinction and obtained her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree.
Ranadive was an inspiration to many women as she advocated for women in STEM. To empower and motivate the women working in the science field, she established Indian Women Scientists’ Association (IWSA).
Kamal Ranadive Obituary – How Did She Die?
This article has been written to inform people about Dr. Kamal Ranadive and in no way is her obituary. She passed away on April 11, 2001, and her family members surely published an obituary during the time of her death.
Dr. Ranadive may have left this world, but she will always remain in our hearts. In 1982, she received the Padma Bhushan. Likewise, she was also the recipient of the Medical Council of India’s Silver Jubilee Research Award.
Having worked with George Gey at John Hopkins University, she also helped women in the rural parts of India. Students and professionals still study her research papers.
