Who Was Jacob Bergquist? Idaho Boise Mall Shooting – According to police, the man who fatally shot two people at a mall in Boise, Idaho, on Monday died from his injuries on Tuesday at a local hospital.

While attempting to flee, Jacob Bergquist, 27, exchanged gunfire with cops. The cause of his death has not been revealed.

According to police, Bergquist opened fire at the Boise Towne Square Mall shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. He shot and killed a security guard and a mall patron before injuring four more people.

The victims were identified as Jo Acker, a 26-year-old woman, and Roberto Padilla Arguelles, a 49-year-old man, on Tuesday.

Bergquist began firing bullets into the floor after the fatal shots, injuring two women before exiting the mall and opening fire on a woman in her car. During a shootout outside the mall after cops arrived, he injured an officer.

The injured were a 52-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman, and a 68-year-old woman, who were only identified by their age and gender. The identity of the officer who was injured was not revealed.

Bergquist was armed when he entered the mall, according to police. The precise weapons have not been revealed.

The motive for the shooting is still being investigated by police. Bergquist had previously been seen by cops at the mall after reports of disorderly conduct, but they said they had no reason to arrest him.

According to Ada County Coroner, he was a 27-year-old Boise man identified as the suspected gunman. As of now, no other personal information about him is accessible.

 

 

His motives behind the incident are currently under investigation. “Anything that can help us understand motivation is a good thing”, Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee remarked.

According to chief Lee, they have been doing interviews with persons who knew him, collaborating at the local, state, and federal levels in an attempt to understand anything about why this event happened and why it happened in the location that it did.

Besides, Berquist has never worked at that mall; however, he is known to frequently visit it. Furthermore, there are no known ties between the suspect and the victims, according to Chief Lee.

Bergquist died in a hospital late Tuesday morning, with no explanation for his actions.

At about 1:50 p.m., Oct 25, the Boise Police Department received a call reporting shots fired at the Boise Towne Square Mall, with callers describing a white male dressed in black and possession of many pistols.

The statement released on Tuesday afternoon claimed that evidence reveals the shooter was first approached by a security guard who was shot and died on the site.

 

 

The shooter then fired six shots, striking a glass escalator and a second victim, who died at a hospital due to his injuries.

The shooter then proceeded to walk through the mall, firing shots into the ground, injuring a 52-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman. Another person was hurt. 

When the responding officers were chasing the suspect, a 68-year-old woman was shot and wounded while driving along the road in her car. A Boise police officer was shot through his vehicle window, injuring him, but he is being treated and released now.

The suspect, Jacob Berquist, was 27 years old at the time of his death. 

Bergquist died late Tuesday morning at a hospital, according to Coroner Dotti Owens.
