Cawthorn later stated that he met Todd on a business trip to Miami and that the latter invited him to a CrossFit competition.

“‘Well, Todd, I’m in a wheelchair,’ I said, laughing. ‘Obviously, I can’t do CrossFit.’ ‘I’ll just do the pull-up section,’ he said.

Cawthorn stated that he competed but later discovered that it was all a sham. “It was all a ruse.” It was a fake CrossFit competition.”
