His father is Vadim Tarasov an ice-hockey player as well.
Vadim was drafted 196th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, and after two seasons with Metallurg Novokuznetsk, he signed a contract with the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, the Quebec Citadelles, in 2001.
Vadim played in only 14 regular-season games, and he returned to Russia the following season, re-joining Metallurg Novokuznetsk.

Daniil Tarasov has played in various leagues for different teams in his career.
He has played for Tolpar Ufa in Junior Hockey League in Russia. He started playing for Tolpar in 2015 and played until 2018.
Tarasov turned professional in 2018 and represented Salavat Yulaev Ufa in Kontinental Hockey League, Toros Neftekamsk in Supreme Hockey League aka Vysshaya hokkeinaya liga,  Ässät in Liiga, and Cleveland Monsters in American Hockey League.
Daniil has represented Russia in international games, he represented Russia in U19 and Junior championships in 2016 and 2019 respectively.
