Dave Chokshi is a well-known American physician and public health official who currently serves as New York City’s 43rd health commissioner until March 2022. In August of 2020, he was appointed as the city’s health commissioner.
Chokshi, the first Asian-American health commissioner, previously served as the inaugural Chief Population Health Officer for New York City’s Health and Hospitals, as well as a White House fellow in the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dave also worked in the Louisiana Department of Health during Hurricane Katrina.

Dr Dave Chokshi will be leaving his work as a health commissioner of New York next week. He sat and talked with CBS2’s Jessica Moore on Wednesday for an emotional conversation.
Chokshi worked day and night during a COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, he was a humble and diligent public servant.
During the interview, Moore asked Chokshi what kind of pressure he felt while fulfilling his duties during the pandemic? He replied, to be honest, he felt a lot of pressure since he has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders for the safety of NYC civilians.
Without the support of his wife and family, Dave can’t be able to his work as a public servant.

According to CBS News, Chokshi intends to continue practicing medicine at Bellevue Hospital and to focus on the people who matter the most.
