Lil Meech was arrested last weekend for his part in a complex plan to steal timepieces worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to authorities and other news sources.

Lil, real name Demetrius Flenory Jr., allegedly failed to make a $200,000 payment for a high-end watch. Lil persuaded a downtown Miami jeweler to loan him a $275,000 Richard Mille Roberto Mancini edition watch on consignment for a GQ photo shoot, which he then traded to another jeweler.

When authorities called Meech and urged him to turn himself in, he hung up the phone, according to police, and they issued a warrant.

According to police, the events that had led to his arrest on Saturday began on Feb. 4, when Lil went to Haimov Jewelers on Northeast First Street.

Lil visited with store owner Moshe Haimov, who agreed to sell him the $275,000 Richard Mille watch because Lil Meech exchanged him for an $80,00 Rolex and makes further $100,000 payments in March and April.

The warrant was served sometime before May 14, and Lil Meech brought himself up at the Turner Guilford Knight jail facility on that day.

Meech faces two counts of first-degree grand theft and an organized plan to deceive. Meech’s bail was set at 150,000 dollars. Meech, who resides in Hollywood, Florida, was released from jail on Wednesday.

Lil was back in the store on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, according to police. Lil requested Haimov to fix the watch he was buying this time because several stones were missing. During the appointment, Haimov also agreed to lend Lil an even more costly watch on consignment, a $350,000 Mexico edition of a Richard Mille.

According to police, Meech stated that he required the watch for an upcoming GQ photoshoot and signed a memorandum committing to return it within three days. Meech never arrived.

Just two weeks later, Lil went to a competitor jeweler, Timepiece Trading, and requested the jeweler to appraise the worth of the watch handed to him by Haimov.

The jeweler subsequently agreed to swap Lil a Richard Mille Yohan Blake version for the $350,000 he borrowed on consignment.

The next day, while browsing Timepiece’s Instagram page, Haimov made an unexpected discovery when he observed Lil Meech at the store, according to authorities. Haimov contacted authorities, who contacted Flenory Jr.

Haimov did not respond to two phone calls made to him on Wednesday. Lil Meech and his agents were unable to be reached for comment. According to Miami-Dade court records, the musician was not represented by a counsel following his arrest.
