Jeff Garlin has unexpectedly left the hit sitcom The Goldbergs after a series of misbehavior charges. The network launched an investigation into the actor’s alleged “abusive” behavior on set.

Mr. Garlin’s surprising exit comes after he publicly stated that he had not been fired from the long-running ABC comedy. It was a mutual decision, according to Deadline, for him not to return to the series.

Because of his on-set behavior, Jeff, 59, has been the subject of a human resources investigation for the past three years. “He is highly verbally and emotionally abusive,” according to a Golderbergs employee who wishes to remain anonymous.
