Mal Isaac was a legendary figure in Regina sports broadcasting.

He recently passed away at 84. Many of his fans and close ones have since expressed their sadness over the death news.

We do, however, know a thing or two about the legendary sportscaster. He died on January 15, 2022, at the age of 84.

Vivian was Mal’s wife’s name. They had three children, Erin (Eddie), Scott (Michele), and Kim (Paul), as well as Abby, Gillian, Andrew, Malcolm, Zoe, Evan, Mitchell, and Taylor. Prior to joining CBC Sports (radio and television sportscaster) in 1974, Issac worked as a sports writer for the Saskatoon Star Phoenix and Regina Leader-Post. Similarly, he used to coach minor league hockey and baseball in Regina.

During his 21-year tenure at CBC, a heavy, wooden TV backdrop once fell on him. He then returned to the set while wearing a Roughriders equipment manager sent football helmet.

Mal was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum’s Football Reporters of Canada wing in 2003.
