This error hooked him on inline speed skating, but he later switched to speed skating because it allowed him to compete in the Olympics. His family and his former coach, Kalin Dobbin, influenced him to pursue a career in sports.

He became the first New Zealand speed skater to win a World Cup race when he won the 5000m at the 2016 Astana World Cup. Similarly, he became New Zealand’s first medalist at the 2017 World Single Distance Championships.

Peter Michael is not married and does not appear to have a wife, but he is dating Fran Vanhoutte. Fran enjoys speed skating, as does Peter. The skater has been deafeningly quiet about his relationship. As a result, determining when they began dating and other details is challenging.
