Tow Ubukata, the author of the adult computer-animated online series RWBY, was charged with domestic abuse in 2015.

On August 21, 2015, Tow intentionally hit his wife in the jaw and mouth area. According to sources, the incident took place at their home in Aoyama, Minato Ward, Tokyo.

The victim’s front tooth was broken as a result of the assault. Ubukata’s wife reported the matter to the police the next day. On August 24, 2015, the writer got detained because of this.

The Japanese author admitted to arguing with his wife but denied assaulting her. On September 1, 2015, he got released without charge.

Furthermore, since his wife did not wish to prosecute accusations against him, the Public Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the case against him.

Following the incident, there are no specifics on whether Tow and his wife are still together or not.

Rumors say that the pair is still together and blissfully living in Tokyo, while some allege that they have already split up.

However, shortly after the incident, Ubukata announced that he intended to write a memoir about his time in prison. “9 Days Trapped,” he suggested it would be called.

After the violent case surfaced, city mayor Yasushi Takahashi declared on August 26 that he had placed Tow’s work on hold.

According to Mayor Takahashi, “Unfortunately, this happened. I had planned to meet with NHK in September, but those preparations have been postponed.”
