The six guys were all known connections of Vella and were members of the Liverpool and Penrith City Chapters, two of NSW’s most dangerous and active gangs.
They were all detained in May after a former member was kidnapped and tortured. For legal reasons, none of the six persons indicted were named.
The six were accused of kidnapping the 45-year-old outside a home in Castlereagh, in Sydney’s west, tying him up and cutting off his nipples during a lengthy beating, leaving him senseless and with severe injuries to his chest, head, and limbs.

He was condemned to 18 months in prison, two nights per week, and two days per week of community service.
He’s also been charged with a number of other offenses, including attacking two men and assaulting a woman, but has yet to be prosecuted. After serving six months in prison for the latter, he was released on appeal.
