Chic Henry was a car enthusiast and the founder of Canberra’s Summernats motor festival. Henry was the Summernats’ director from 1988 to 2009. Over the years, the Street Machine Summernats he founded has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

Besides, Henry’s first real street car was a hot EH Holden, followed by a quick VE Valiant and then a ’57 Chevy. But it wasn’t until 1978 that he met his true love in the automotive world: his 1962 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport.

He stuck with the Chev for the rest of his life, and while it went through a few other mechanical interactions. It was Henry’s role as National Director of the Australian Street Machine Federation (AMSF) that ultimately led to him finding the Summernats in 1988.

 

What Happened To Chic Henry?

Chic Henry died on Thursday, April 14, 2022, in his adopted home of Canberra after a prolonged battle with cancer. The family is preparing to celebrate Chic’s life at Exhibition Park in Canberra, with details yet to be ratified. 

Furthermore, the event is available to everyone, and cool cars are urged to attend. On the other side, Henry’s family asks that instead of flowers, supporters consider donating to the Canberra Cancer Centre.

Chic Henry had collected a decent net worth at the time of his death. All of his fortunes came from his work as the founder of the Summernats motor festival in Canberra.

However, the actual amount of his earnings remain under review as none of the media sources has mentioned the details regarding his payments. But it can be said that Henry had a net worth in six figures as he was active in that field for a long time.

Chic Henry’s age was 75 years at the time of his death. As per his Wikipedia bio, he was born on December 15, 1946, in Launceston, Australia. Besides, Henry was raised by returned serviceman father Robert Henry and mother Alma Horton.

Talking about his educational history, he attended Queechy High School in Norwood, Tasmania, repeating his last year. At school, Henry was a solid competitive swimmer and board diver.

Accepting an apprenticeship with the Australian Army, he moved to Melbourne in 1964. Furthermore, his army career saw him living in Sydney and Townsville before his resignation in 1973.

Chic Henry Wife: Details On His Married Life

Chic Henry was survived by his wife, Debra Henry. She is the daughter of Georgia Henry, son of Kody Henry and Kody’s wife Filia Henry, daughter Angela Henry, Angela’s partner Jason Pettet and granddaughter Lauren.

From 1968 to 1984, he was with Doreen. Also, Henry was the father of a daughter named Angela Michelle.
