Paul Maurice is an ice hockey player and coach from Canada. He has also served as the head coach of the National Hockey League’s Winnipeg Jets (NHL).
Maurice became the NHL’s youngest head coach to coach 1,000 games. On November 28, 2010, he reached the milestone.
He began his career as a defenseman in the Ontario Hockey League and played in junior hockey for four years before suffering an eye injury.
From 2014 to 2021, Paul served as a Jets coach. The Jets finished the season with an 18–12–5 record under Maurice.

Assistant coach Dave Lowry took on the coaching duties on an interim basis. Maurice further stated that he thought the team needed a new leader.
Reportedly, he mentioned coaching during the pandemic was a very hard time for him. Due to this, he lost some passion for the game.
He further stated when someone loses passion for the game they can’t be as good as they can be. During his time with the Jets, he coached exactly 600 regular-season games.

He first coached the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes franchise from 1995 to 2003. Later on, Maurice joined the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2008 to 2008.
At the end of 2008, Hurricanes re-hired Paul before the Carolina Hurricanes fired him in 2011.
After working with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for a brief period of time, he joined the Jets.
