Shasta Groene, a 25-year-old woman who survived one of the state’s most infamous killing sprees, will be featured in an upcoming season of People Magazine Investigates.

As a child, she witnessed horrific crimes. She also pleaded guilty in April to two criminal counts of child abuse and was sentenced to an unsupervised trial period through October 2019.

Shasta Groene, whose mother, stepfather, and two brothers were murdered in 2005 in North Idaho and Montana, is featured in the sixth season of “People Magazine Investigates,” which premiered on Monday, June 6.

In March 2005, Shasta thought she spotted someone in her bedroom closet. She felt anxious and called her 9-year-old brother, Dylan, and he came into bed with her so she could fall asleep.

Joseph Duncan III, a serial killer and registered sex offender, shattered into Groene’s home in northern Idaho. He killed Shasta’s mother, Brenda Groene, her mother’s boyfriend Mark McKenzie, and the teenage son, Slade Groene.

Shasta and her brother were taken hostage by the murderer and held in the surrounding Lolo National Forest. Shasta and her brother were mentally and sexually assaulted for seven weeks and Duncan later killed her brother Dylan.

Shasta Groene is living a blissful life with her husband and four children. She is about to welcome her fifth baby in upcoming August.

Shasta has faced so many things as an eight-year child. One needs to have the courage to support the people who have gone through sexual assault.

Despite the fact, that her husband is taking care of her. Although not much is revealed about her husband, he seems to be a wonderful person. The couple seems very happy with each other as they share a sensible relationship.

Shasta was residing in Wolf Lodge Bay Area with her family when the sexual predator came in and killed all of her family members including her mother, brothers, and her mother’s fiance.

That was the most thrilling and worst tragedy seen in Idaho. The killer was accused of molesting 13 younger boys when he was the age of 16. She was sexually and physically abused by Duncan for seven weeks. 

After being spotted by the employees and customers in a local restaurant in Coeur d’Alene, she was rescued from the killer. After Shasta has been released from the killer, she reportedly told police specific details about Duncan, including the dark gloves he wore, his hammer’s brand, his shotgun, and night vision goggles.

The police reached out soon after and kept Joseph Duncan in prison. The two of them were also seen on the evening of July 1, 2005, in a convenience store in Kellogg, Idaho.

Shasta has experienced immense loss as well as abuse. Although It is difficult to cope with the traumatic event, she has led her life differently and started her own family.
