The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, when he slashed the 41-year-old man’s face with a razor blade.
The victim was on a northbound J train as it approached the Delancey Street/Essex Street station on the Lower East Side, according to the report.
The case is currently suspected of being a hate crime, but it is still under investigation. And if he is found guilty, he must unquestionably face the consequences of the law.
According to a police spokeswoman, the attack was reported to the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force.

People are assuming that the case is a hate crime because the victim is Asian. Furthermore, there is no knowledge of their relationship or association.
One person took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the law and the crime. He wrote, “Another victim of anti-Asian prejudice has been slashed on the subway. We must reverse New York’s criminal-friendly policies, which have resulted in lawlessness.’

Despite, he made an attempt to flee from the scene he was arrested by the cops. However, he allegedly tampered with the evidence by throwing the blade onto the roadbed while fleeing.
He had a prior criminal record and was arrested on December 16 on criminal possession of stolen property charges. He was accused of stealing construction tools from 43 Exchange Place, according to cops.
