Linda Monette is an acquaintance of Austin Hanahan, the father of Mason, who also visited their home.

On May 14th, 2019 shortly before 12:30 am, it was reported that an intruder entered Hanahan resident and took Monette hostage.

Austin exchanged gunfire to release Monette but the intruder shot multiple times that Mason got fatally stuck and himself became injured.

During the investigation, Monette changed her statement inconsistently that she became the suspect of having connected to the local gang.

 

 

On May 17, 2019, she accepted that it was all planned for a robbery, even the part that she was under the target of the shooting. 

Her criminal act took away the life of a child who was said to be very caring, who cherished his siblings, and was beloved by his classmates, teachers, and baseball team.

His mother, Tyler Hanahan, said that Mason has recently been selected to the Eagle program for academic excellence. The intruder connected to his case remains unknown.

The efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies fail to confirm his identity. There is an appeal to contact Crimestoppers if anyone knows the identity.

A Lexington woman, Monette has been sentenced to 40 years in prison in connection with a home invasion incident that led to the death of the 8-year-old boy.

Over two years, the death of Mason Hanahan has been the intense focus of the investigators. The loss has impacted badly on his family his baseball teammates.

And also to the Oak Grove community. On May 13, 2019, the boy spent the evening with his father following baseball practice. Mason fell asleep on the couch.
