The Louisville Metro Police Department has charged Howard with first-degree assault, as confirmed in a recent announcement. Following the incident, Howard was detained by the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.

The violent episode unfolded just before the early hours of Tuesday morning, around 2 a.m., on the 400 block of East Market Street in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, in the vicinity of a McDonald’s restaurant. Responding to reports of a fight, dispatchers directed police officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a severely injured man on South Jackson Street, suffering the aftermath of the brutal assault. Officers administered preliminary aid until emergency medical personnel arrived to transport the victim to a nearby hospital. His injuries were deemed critical and posed a significant threat to his life.

The officers apparently arrived to find a man on nearby South Jackson Street “suffering from injuries he sustained from an assault.” Police cared for him until emergency responders arrived and brought him to a nearby hospital with “critical and life-threatening injuries.”

“Due to the severity of the injuries, LMPD’s Homicide Unit was notified and has assumed control of this investigation,” the police department said. Part of the investigation included speaking with witnesses, who appeared to give detectives an idea of a possible motive.

The suspect had told the victim to “leave his country” before kicking him and striking him repeatedly with a wooden two-by-four witnesses said, per local CBS affiliate WLKY. Officers “canvassed the area, located a suspect, and detained him,” police stated.

The suspect — identified as Howard — reportedly had blood on his shoes when he was arrested. He allegedly admitted to “fighting” the victim.

Howard was booked into the local jail and was scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Wednesday.

Unlock Major Savings at the Pump: Must-Know Tips for Navigating Australia’s Fuel Crisis

0

Last week, petrol prices across Australia averaged $2.19 per litre, while diesel prices soared past $2.40 per litre, marking a significant hike.

As fuel remains a necessity for many Australians, here are five practical strategies to help cut costs at the pump during your next refill.

Experts consistently recommend that a simple yet effective method to conserve fuel is by being mindful of your driving habits.

Frequent acceleration and deceleration due to varying speed limits or traffic can lead to higher fuel consumption, as it necessitates constant braking and speeding up again.

Andrea Matthews from RACV highlights that “heavy throttle use and excessive acceleration are surefire ways to deplete your fuel or range.”

“Heavy throttle use and excessive acceleration are a guaranteed way of using fuel or range,” RACV’s Andrea Matthews said.

She also suggested using cruise control if your car has it, as this helps maintain a consistent speed without using the brakes or accelerator too much.

The NRMA also suggests carefully planning your route to try and avoid peak periods if possible or roads where traffic will be higher, causing you to be stuck in a pattern of stop-start driving, as well as sitting idle, which burns more fuel.

2. Make sure your tyres are inflated and properly aligned

Not only is having your tyres properly inflated and maintained a good safety measure, it also saves on the amount of petrol you use.

Tyres that are under-inflated increase rolling resistance, and can increase fuel consumption by two per cent, according to the NRMA.

That doesn’t sound like a lot, but it can add up over time.

“Underinflated tyres will wear earlier on the edges,” Matthews said, “contributing to engine wear and higher fuel consumption.”

To ensure your tyres last longer, she also recommends making sure your car has a wheel alignment.

“Getting a regular wheel alignment check will ensure your tyres last as long as possible,” she said, saying a poor wheel alignment can produce more wear on the tyres and on other parts of the car, reducing its fuel efficiency.

The NRMA also recommends getting a wheel alignment once a year, as it reduces drag and rolling resistance.

3. Reduce weight by removing roof racks and other heavy items

Science dictates it takes more fuel to move a heavier car, so reducing the luggage and items in your car can help your car remain more efficient.

While there are times you will need to have lots of things in the boot, make sure you do a regular clean out of your car, for example, every time you wash it, to make sure any heavy items that aren’t necessary or used often don’t take up space and add weight.

According to figures from the NRMA, a car that is loaded to its maximum weight can increase fuel consumption by 24 per cent.

Experts also recommend removing roof racks from your car if they are not being used.

This is because they increase weight, but more importantly, increase drag, making your car less aerodynamic and causing it to use more fuel.

Try to make sure your car boot is not uneccesarily cluttured, as this adds weight and wastes fuel. (Bloomberg)

4. Use your air conditioner less

It may be a big sacrifice to make, especially in a country like Australia where the weather can be extreme, but experts say reducing your air conditioner use in your car is an important way to save on petrol.

The NRMA recommends, when practical, to roll down your windows instead when driving at lower speeds as a way to cool down your car without having to put the air conditioner on, though it warns doing this at higher speeds may have the opposite effect, as it increases drag and resistance.

If you feel the need to use the air conditioner, Matthews recommends these settings.

“Turn the A/C on to recirculate, as a way of reducing fuel consumption,” she said.

“That way, you’re cooling the same air from inside repeatedly for less money, instead of drawing in hot air from outside.”

While this is not an option for people in all parts of Australia, being more selective on when or how you drive is a useful strategy to save on petrol, especially amid the current crisis.

If possible, carpool with others when driving to work or other events to share the burden of having to drive and use petrol.

If carpooling is not possible and you are able to, use alternative means to get to work or to where you need to go.

Try walking or using a bicycle, or use public transport if you are near a bus stop or train station.

In a significant development, authorities have charged a man in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a pregnant teenager in California over six years ago. The San Joaquin District Attorney, Ron Frietas, announced on March 16 that a grand jury has indicted Joshua Martinez in the case of Victoria Marquina.

Martinez faces serious charges including murder, unlawful intercourse with a minor more than three years younger, oral copulation with a person under 18, and sexual penetration by a foreign object with a victim under 18 years old. This case has remained unsolved for years, marking it as a significant breakthrough for law enforcement.

“This marks our second cold case prosecution since I assumed office,” Frietas stated during a press conference. “To those offenders who believe that time will erase their crimes, you are mistaken. We remain committed to seeking justice for the victims and their families.”

The last known sighting of Marquina was on October 9, 2019, near her place of work. When the 16-year-old failed to return home, her mother reported her missing the following day, prompting an extensive investigation.

Early in the investigation, suspicion turned towards Martinez, who was 21 at the time of Marquina’s disappearance. Frietas described their relationship as “very short,” yet it was sufficient to draw the attention of investigators.

From early on, suspicion fell to Martinez, who was 21 years old at the time Marquina disappeared. According to Frietas, the two had a “very short relationship.”

“They had met just about a month before her disappearance,” he said at the press conference. “She became pregnant, and then she went missing. So it was a whirlwind, very fast relationship, and very, very short.”

Martinez allegedly admitted to seeing Marquina around the time she disappeared, but told investigators that he’d dropped her off in Sutter Creek the morning of Oct. 6 and hadn’t seen her again, according to a 2019 statement from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office added, “Joshua’s residence was searched, but Victoria was not located.”

The pregnant teenager’s black Honda Accord was later found abandoned on Oct. 13 in San Joaquin County. An eye witness had reported seeing a young Hispanic couple matching the description of Martinez and Marquina with his vehicle, the sheriff’s office said at the time.

Martinez fled to Mexico shortly after Marquina disappeared, but was later extradited back to the United States, according to CBS News. He was arrested once previously in connection to the case, but was later released.

New Information Led to Arrest of Joshua Martinez

Frietas said on March 16 that the new charges against Martinez were the result of some “new information” in the case, but declined to provide further details.

The Amardor County District Attorney’s Office—who worked in conjunction with the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office—said in a statement that evidence was discovered during the investigation “indicating that Victoria became the victim of a homicide outside of Amador County.”

“Victoria’s family has endured an unimaginable tragedy — the disappearance of a child under criminal circumstances,” Amador County District Attorney Todd Riebe said in the statement. “The involvement of multiple agencies and evidence spanning several counties has made this already devastating situation even more complex and painful for them over the years.”

The teen’s body has never been found.

“Victoria is dead, and we are looking for her remains and the remains of her unborn child,” Frietas said during the press conference. “We need closure for the family. So anyone having that information of where her remains are, we’re asking them to come forward.”

Victoria Marquina’s Mom Says Daughter Had “Many Dreams”

In comments to CBS News Sacramento, Marquina’s mom Blance Valencia said through an interpreter that she believes “justice is working” in the case.

“I think that by now she would be graduated, received, and would be a fulfilled woman,” she told the outlet. ”She had many dreams. Many dreams. Unfortunately, someone cut us off. But I still have faith, I still have hope that she will return home.”

If convicted of the charges against him, Martinez could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, prosecutors said. He is currently being held without bail at the San Joaquin County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6.

It’s unclear whether he has retained an attorney. Oxygen reached out to the San Joaquin County Public Defender’s Office, but did not receive an immediate reply.

Billionaire Teases Strategic Retaliation Following Exclusive Dinner Ban

0

A tech billionaire recently hinted at gatecrashing an investor dinner organized by a ski resort corporation, despite being a co-owner of the venue where the event was scheduled. This unusual situation unfolded after the mogul was not extended an invitation to the gathering.

Matthew Prince, the 51-year-old CEO of Cloudflare, publicly addressed the Colorado-based Vail Mountain Ski Resort for holding their investor dinner in a building he partially owns, without inviting him to the event.

Expressing his thoughts on social media, Prince tweeted, “I appreciate Vail Mountain hosting their investor/analyst dinner in a building I co-own. Thanks for the rent!” on Wednesday.

He further added, “I requested an invite and am a plus one for several guests. We’ll see how open they are to change,” suggesting he might attend regardless of the formal invitation.

Prince also shared a screenshot of the resort representative’s message, which stated, “Unfortunately, our dinner is a private event for those investors who were invited to the conference,” highlighting the exclusivity of the event.

He then joked, ‘I’m really tempted to crash. Have a key to the back door.’

It is unclear exactly where the event is being held or who will be attending.

Prince is the cofounder and CEO of cybersecurity giant Cloudflare and is worth about $5.9 billion, making him the richest man in Utah, according to Forbes

He has repeatedly expressed his interest in purchasing the Colorado company’s Utah property, Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR).

On March 9, Prince wrote on X, ‘Vail Resorts likely to open tomorrow down to where if you invested ten years ago you’d have done as well putting your money in a hole.

‘It’s time for a change to become more asset-light, sell off resorts, and allow character and differentiation to return to skiing.’

Daily Mail has contacted Vail Ski Resort and Cloudflare for more information.

Prince made headlines in January when he unveiled plans to build a massive industrial–style brown mansion inspired by mines in Park City.

He is seeking to construct an 11,000–square–foot home with an outdoor pool and terrace that would overlook the valley.

But his application has sparked multiple lawsuits, with neighbors Eric Hermann, 73, and Susan Fredston–Hermann, 70, suing to stop the mansion from being built.

The Park City Council approved a consent agreement on January 15, aiming to end the litigation, KPCW reported.

Under the agreement, Prince and the city agreed to seek dismissal of the lawsuits over the home’s height, floor area, roof design, parking area and whether it meets Park City’s historic standards.

The joint motion to dismiss was filed on January 21, but the next hearing for the case has been scheduled for June 1.

Additionally, the Hermann’s are not party to the consent agreement and have said they plan to file an opposing motion.

Prince initially submitted plans for the gargantuan home that included 7,000 square feet of finished living space and 4,000 square feet of underground parking in 2022.

The permit applications for the home also mentioned 6,000 feet of unfinished living space.

Prince has repeatedly backed his desire to build the mansion by pointing to its design rooted in local history and support from the local community.

‘I’m proud of the fact that the Historic Society, Friends of [Ski Mountain Mining History], the [Park City] museum, have all said, ‘This is something that if it was on the side of the hill, we would be able to point at and say it was inspired by the mines of Park City’,’ he said in 2024.

Google Faces Scrutiny Over ‘Dangerous’ AI Discoveries Amid ‘Code Red’ Alert; Trust in Company Questioned

0

Senator Rick Scott of Florida, a Republican, has voiced his concerns after Google’s AI chatbot labeled him as engaging in “hate speech.” This accusation came to light through a test conducted by Wynton Hall from Breitbart News. Senator Scott is demanding accountability from the tech giant, stating, “They should answer for this now.”

In his latest publication, Code Red: The Left, the Right, China, and the Race to Control AI, Hall sheds light on the purported political biases embedded within AI systems that claim neutrality, particularly highlighting their unfavorable stance towards conservatives.

During an experiment with Google’s Gemini Pro using its “deep research” feature, Hall posed a question: “According to your hate speech policies, evaluate the statements of the current 100 U.S. Senators and identify those who have breached these policies, including their names and party affiliations.”

The AI chatbot responded by naming several prominent Republicans as violators of hate speech policies, conspicuously omitting any Democrats from its list.

Google’s AI criticized Senator Scott for allegedly spreading hate speech by promoting legislative narratives that invoke terms like “invasion” and “demographic threat,” particularly in relation to immigrant communities.

The Florida senator reacted to Hall’s findings in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News, saying “Google’s failure to create an unbiased AI tool isn’t just wrong, it’s dangerous.”

“Let’s be clear about what this is: Big Tech lying to people with fake narratives that have no basis in reality,” Scott continued. “Nobody should trust them. I stand by what I said about the invasion across our border that was aided and abetted by the Biden administration and radical Democrats in Washington.”

He then connected his argument to the SAVE America Act, the Republicans’ voter ID legislation that will hit the Senate floor for a vote this week.

“Now, Democrats want to block the SAVE America Act so illegals can vote in our elections. Americans support legal immigration, not millions of inverted people flooding into our country and influencing our elections,” Scott said. “Google should answer for this now.”

Other Republicans named by the chatbot included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), and Bill Hagerty (R-TN).

Cotton was also accused of spewing “hate speech” by the AI chatbot, specifically for co-sponsoring legislation to “exclude transgender students from sports.”

“The vast majority of Americans agree that girls’ sports should be for girls only—not men,” Cotton told Breitbart News. “It’s a deeply alarming sign of the liberal bias that still exists in big tech that an AI system would call that ‘hate speech.’”

Blackburn also reacted after being smeared by Google’s Gemini Pro, telling Breitbart News that “Google’s AI models are designed to smear conservatives, and the company needs to shut these tools down until it can ensure they are not inherently biased against conservatives.”

On March 2, Balat appears to have bought a 20-foot roll of fuse from Phantom Fireworks in Penndel, Pennsylvania, according to video obtained by Fox News Digital.

Top 5 Bed Exercises to Boost Leg Strength Quickly for Seniors

0

Reinvigorating your leg strength doesn’t always require a trip to the gym or even getting out of bed. Sometimes, the most effective routines begin right where you rise each morning. Just a few minutes of deliberate movements can awaken the legs, lubricate the joints, and remind your muscles of their untapped potential. Consider it a morning strength tune-up, setting a positive tone for the day ahead.

In my experience as a coach, I’ve noticed that people tend to maintain routines that are easy to initiate and repeat. Exercises that minimize hurdles are more likely to become habits. Surprisingly, movements done in bed can be quite effective, as the mattress provides support while allowing the hips and thighs to engage in beneficial motion. Many of my clients report feeling more alert and stable in their legs after just a short morning session.

The following five exercises focus on the glutes, thighs, and hips, promoting smooth and controlled movements. These exercises not only boost muscle strength for balance and stability but also enhance your coordination. By incorporating them into your routine, you’ll enjoy stronger legs and set the stage for a productive day.

In my coaching work, I’ve found that people often stick with routines that minimize barriers. When an exercise feels easy to start and repeat, consistency increases. Bed-based movements are surprisingly effective because they provide support while still allowing the hips and thighs to work through meaningful ranges of motion. Clients often tell me their legs feel more awake and stable within just a few minutes.

The five exercises below target the glutes, thighs, and hips while encouraging smooth, controlled movement. They build strength in the muscles responsible for balance and stability. Perform them regularly, and you’ll build stronger legs, better coordination, and a morning routine that starts your day on a high note.

Glute Bridge

The glute bridge activates the glutes and hamstrings while encouraging strong hip extension. Many people spend long periods sitting during the day, which can make the glutes less active. This exercise quickly wakes up those muscles and helps restore strength in the hips. The movement also supports the lower back by strengthening the muscles that stabilize the pelvis. With consistent practice, glute bridges help rebuild lower-body strength and improve overall leg stability.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, and core stabilizers.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the bed.
  2. Place your arms at your sides for support.
  3. Press through your heels and lift your hips upward.
  4. Squeeze your glutes at the top of the movement.
  5. Slowly lower your hips back to the starting position.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Single-leg glute bridge, pause glute bridge, elevated glute bridge.

Form Tip: Drive through your heels and focus on squeezing your glutes at the top.

Glute Bridge Marching

Glute bridge marching adds a stability challenge, forcing the hips and core to work harder. Holding the bridge position while lifting one foot encourages the glutes and hamstrings to stay active. This variation also strengthens the stabilizing muscles around the hips. Over time, these muscles improve balance and coordination during everyday activities. The movement builds strength while teaching the body to control each leg independently.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, and core stabilizers.

How to Do It:

  1. Begin in a glute bridge position with your hips lifted.
  2. Brace your core and keep your hips steady.
  3. Lift one foot a few inches off the bed.
  4. Lower the foot back down with control.
  5. Alternate legs while maintaining the bridge position.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 marches per leg. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Slow tempo bridge march, pause bridge march, banded bridge march.

Form Tip: Keep your hips level as you alternate lifting each foot.

Sit-to-Stand

The sit-to-stand movement strengthens the thighs while reinforcing one of the most important patterns in daily life. Standing up from a seated position requires coordination between the quads, glutes, and hips. Practicing this movement repeatedly builds strength and confidence in the legs. The exercise also improves balance and encourages proper squat mechanics. Over time, it helps restore the strength needed for everyday activities.

Muscles Trained: Quads, glutes, hamstrings, and core.

How to Do It:

  1. Sit on the edge of the bed with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Lean your torso slightly forward.
  3. Press through your feet and stand up.
  4. Pause briefly at the top.
  5. Lower yourself back down with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Slow tempo squat-to-stand, pause squat-to-stand, assisted squat-to-stand.

Form Tip: Drive through your heels and keep your chest tall as you stand.

Side-Lying Leg Lifts

Side-lying leg lifts strengthen the outer hips and glutes, which play an important role in balance and stability. These muscles help control hip alignment during walking and standing. Strengthening them improves overall leg strength and coordination. The controlled lift also encourages the hips to move through a comfortable range of motion. With regular practice, this exercise helps build stronger hips and more stable legs.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, outer hips, and hip stabilizers.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your side with your legs stacked.
  2. Support your head with your lower arm.
  3. Keep your top leg straight.
  4. Lift the leg upward slowly.
  5. Lower it back down with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps per leg. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Banded leg lift, slow tempo leg lift, pulse raises.

Form Tip: Keep your hips stacked and avoid leaning backward during the lift.

Supported Split Squats

Supported split squats strengthen the legs while improving balance and coordination. The staggered stance encourages each leg to work independently. This helps rebuild strength evenly between both sides of the body. Holding onto the bed for support allows the movement to feel more stable and controlled. Over time, the exercise helps restore leg strength and improve confidence during single-leg movements.

Muscles Trained: Quads, glutes, hamstrings, and hips.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand beside the bed and hold the edge for support.
  2. Step one foot backward into a staggered stance.
  3. Bend both knees to lower into a lunge.
  4. Keep your chest upright and your core engaged.
  5. Push through your front foot to return to standing.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per leg. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Assisted split squat, pause split squat, tempo split squat.

Form Tip: Keep your front heel firmly planted throughout the movement.

Best Daily Tips for Restoring Leg Strength After 60

Rebuilding leg strength after 60 often comes down to consistency and smart exercise selection. The body responds best when the muscles receive regular stimulation through controlled movement. Small daily routines can create meaningful improvements in strength and stability over time.

  • Focus on movements that mimic daily activities: Squatting, lunging, and bridging help strengthen the muscles used throughout the day.
  • Move with control: Slow, steady repetitions improve muscle activation and joint stability.
  • Train one leg at a time: Single-leg exercises help build balance and strengthen stabilizing muscles.
  • Stay consistent with your routine: Short daily sessions often produce better results than occasional long workouts.
  • Listen to your body: Progress gradually and increase effort as strength improves.

Stick with these exercises and your legs will grow stronger, steadier, and more capable with each passing week.

Heartbreaking Case: Father Inflicts 30 Fractures on ‘Colicky’ Infant in Just Two Months

0

Authorities in New Hampshire apprehended a man on Friday after discovering that his 3-month-old son had sustained 30 fractures over a two-month span.

The Nashua Police Department revealed that they were alerted by the state’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families regarding the infant, who had endured “serious injuries.”

A swift investigation concluded that Drew Babcock, the child’s father, was responsible for the harm. He now faces eight charges of first-degree assault related to domestic violence.

According to reports from the New Hampshire Union Leader, Babcock, 36, admitted to investigators that his son’s persistent colicky behavior led him to “lose” control, resulting in the abuse.

During Babcock’s arraignment on Monday, prosecutors detailed the infant’s injuries, which included fractures to both femurs and a clavicle, as well as several bruises that led to fluid accumulation in his lungs.

Judge Amy Spony denied a defense motion for a $10,000 bail and ordered him held on preventative detention.

The case originated in the Lakes Region but was moved to Nashua, where Babcock and his estranged wife recently moved.

A probable cause statement said that Babcock told his estranged wife that he thought he had injured the infant. He said he squeezed him to stop him from crying and “may have applied too much pressure, but he did not realize that the had broken” any bones, the affidavit said.

The financial settlement could redistribute a portion of her wealth, though specific terms remain private. Both have continued working as co parents to their three young sons, which suggests they aim for an amicable resolution.

Extra Income Sources That Boost Dylan Dreyer Wealth

Her wildly successful children’s book series “Misty the Cloud” has become a consistent royalty generator. The New York Times bestsellers add a substantial six figure sum to her annual earnings.

She also earns separately from hosting “Earth Odyssey,” the educational nature series on NBC. These production fees created a comfortable household income before the split.

Rebecca Gayheart, widow of Eric Dane, attended the premiere of The Drama in Los Angeles on Tuesday, marking her first public appearance since her husband’s passing. She was accompanied by their daughters, Billie and Georgia.

The 54-year-old actress was present at the event with Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14. This appearance comes just weeks after Dane’s death at 53, following his struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Gayheart and her daughters were there to show support for Zendaya, Dane’s co-star from Euphoria, who stars in The Drama alongside Robert Pattinson.

Rebecca Gayheart looked sophisticated in a striped dress, complemented by black lace heels and a pink handbag, embodying elegance at the event.

Billie chose a chic ensemble of a white lace crop top paired with a matching skirt, accessorized with a small Dior purse and lavender heels.

Georgia was chic in a bubblegum pink dress and clear heels which she paired with a black purse.

Dane starred as Cal Jacobs, the father of Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), in the Emmy-winning series Euphoria.

He returned to set to portray the troubled patriarch for the upcoming third season, led by Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, and ultimately completed his scenes before his death.

His final performance will appear when the season premieres on April 12, although his character was notably absent from the January trailer.

The show’s creator Sam Levinson was one of many who donated to a GoFundMe set up by Dane’s and Gayheart’s friends to support their daughters after his death.

Dane will receive a public memorial due to an effort spearheaded by fans amid fury over his snub from the In Memoriam segment at The Oscars on Sunday.

The actor’s family has been moved by the tributes and condolences sent from around the world and now a celebration of life is being planned a source close to Gayheart told TMZ on Tuesday.

The gathering will take place for the talented actor’s fans as their aim is to make Dane ‘smile and feel loved and know that his life was not in vain.’

This comes days after Oscar viewers were left upset over shocking omissions – including Dane – during the emotional In Memoriam segment at the 98th Annual Academy Awards.

A number of late Hollywood stars were honored at the ceremony including Diane Keaton, Catherine O’Hara and Rob Reiner as their former castmates offered moving tributes on stage.

However, others that were not among the list along with Dane were James Van Der Beek and Brigitte Bardot.

Dane was widely recognized for his role as Dr. Mark ‘McSteamy’ Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and also starred in movies such as Bad Boys: Ride Or Die (2024).

A source for Gayheart told TMZ that the family were ‘saddened’ to not see him included the main broadcast but they understand the omission.

The source said: ‘It was a year of profound loss for the industry.’

Earlier this month, Dane’s cause of death was confirmed as respiratory failure according to his death certificate.

ALS was listed as the underlying cause of death.

Respiratory failure is a known complication of ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually impacting muscle control and breathing.

Months before his death, Dane secretly recorded an interview for Netflix in which he left a deeply personal message for his two daughters.

The 50-minute film, titled Famous Last Words: Eric Dane, was recorded in secret with the understanding it would only be released posthumously, according to reports.

Toward the end of the interview with Gwyneth Paltrow’s husband Brad Falchuk, Dane addressed his daughters directly, speaking to the camera with them in mind: ‘Billie and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried.’

He continued, ‘Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?’

In the end he told them: ‘Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you. Those are my last words.’

The widow is also listed as the beneficiary of Dane’s GoFundMe page, which has raised $489,539 of a $500K goal to help ‘provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.’

Had Gayheart and Dane never legally separated between 2018-2025, they would have been married for 21 straight years.

However, Dane had been dating photographer Janell Shirtcliff since 2022 while the Jawbreaker alum publicly kissed Hard Rock Cafe co-founder Peter Morton, 78, at E Baldi in Beverly Hills on December 3.
