Vicky Pattison’s Harrowing Escape from Dubai: Surviving Missile Strikes and Ensuring Safety Amidst Chaos

0

Vicky Pattison has described her experience of leaving Dubai amid the tense backdrop of Iranian missile strikes and drone attacks as “surreal.” In a recent interview, she opened up about the ordeal she faced.

The 38-year-old television star, along with her partner, decided to leave Dubai earlier this month following the outbreak of conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran, which created widespread unrest in the United Arab Emirates.

During the crisis, Pattison shared that they undertook an arduous 11-hour journey across the border to Oman. This was a desperate attempt to return to the UK after three of their flights had been cancelled amidst the escalating panic.

The couple also considered flying to Australia or New Zealand, but ultimately chose to head back to the UK. Their main concern was to reunite with their cherished dogs, Milo and Max, as swiftly and securely as possible.

Reflecting on the experience, Vicky acknowledged that it felt “surreal” at times. However, she emphasized that both she and her husband remained “safe and well looked after” throughout the ordeal.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: ‘It was quite surreal at times when it all began unfolding.

‘But in all honesty, we were safe and well looked after, which we’re grateful for. We mostly kept our heads down in the hotel, stayed informed and waited for guidance on flights home, as there wasn’t much else we could do.

She added: ‘We decided to postpone our plans to continue to Australia and New Zealand. We were really looking forward to that part of our holiday, but hopefully we’ll get to do it another time.’

It comes after Vicky shared highlights from her trip to Oman with husband Ercan, but said ‘our focus was getting home’ in the post after fleeing Dubai.

The couple, who had to abandon their original plans, made the most of their trip as they saw the sights and swam with turtles.

Sharing snaps from their visit, she penned on Instagram last week: ‘Moments from Oman… Such a beautiful country and honestly, a shame that we didn’t get to explore it more – our focus was getting home obviously.

‘But I’m really happy we made the most of our last couple of days while we waited for our flight…

‘Huge thank you to @daymaniyat_experts, for a wonderful experience snorkelling with the turtles… and @stonevibes.oman for an incredible tour of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.’

Earlier this month, she gave an update on how things were going after being silent on social media amid chaos in the region.

Alongside snaps of their mammoth trip to Oman, she penned: ‘We’re so sorry for our radio silence over the last week, with everything unfolding the way it was and changing so rapidly, we desperately didn’t want to say anything insensitive or hyperbolic that would add to the rising panic around the situation’.

‘We really appreciate all your messages of concern and just wanted to reassure everyone that we’re fine.  After 3 cancelled flights and the realisation that we definitely weren’t going to make it on to Australia and New Zealand we wanted to try and get home as quickly and safely as possible.’

She went on: ‘I understand that there are a lot of people still in Dubai feeling really calm and safe however, we wanted to be back to our babies, work and normality, and we felt like Oman was our best option.

‘We made our way to Oman from Dubai with some of our friends via private transfer, we used this company @skyevipcarrental and found them to be professional, reasonably priced and comfortable.’

Vicky continued: ‘All in all, the journey took us around 11 hours, including around 2-3 hours at the border crossing, checking documents and passports and cost about £130pp’.

‘For anyone stuck in Dubai and wanting to get home via Oman, I will put more information on @vickysvacays.. I just don’t want to overwhelm or bore anyone on here. We are going to try and enjoy our last days away and explore Oman hopefully.

‘The last week has been quite unsettled and we understand people feeling unsafe and uncertain.. we have experienced moments like that, but ultimately feel like it’s important we acknowledge our position of privilege.

She added: ‘We are extremely grateful to be making our way home and are thinking of anyone feeling fearful or unsettled, anywhere in a world that is rapidly becoming an increasingly scary place to be.

‘Finally just a little Thank you to @addressbeachresort and @uaegov for keeping us safe, calm and informed when possible. We will keep you updated and are looking forward to getting home in the next couple of days.’

Earlier this month, Vicky blasted ‘shameful’ Dubai expats who abandoned their pets to flee the missiles raining down on the Middle East.

Vets have reported an influx in enquiries about euthanising pets as thousands of Brits trapped in the region scramble to get home.

In response, the TV personality took to her Instagram Stories to say those leaving their animals behind never deserved them.

She wrote: ‘Just a note… if you are abandoning your pets in Dubai – you didn’t deserve that animal to begin with and I pray it finds a better home. Shameful.’

K9 Friends Dubai, a dog re-homing group, said it has become overwhelmed by the number of dog owners wanting to leave their pets behind and phone calls they have received about abandoned puppies.

Animal groups are trying their best to find shelters – but hundreds of posts about deserted pets have been spotted online.

And some vets have had to euthanise even healthy pets because their owners don’t want to face the relocation costs or paperwork.

Claire Hopkins, a resident of Dubai who volunteers with several animal organisations and shelters, said they were under severe financial pressure as fundraising activities are highly regulated and GoFundMe pages are banned in Dubai.

She said: ‘Some pet owners are stressed and panicking. It’s right across the board, and I think the Brits are better than most, but you’re talking about 200 different nationalities here in the UAE.

‘Some people want to give back their adoptive pets. There are dogs starting to be abandoned.

‘The airlines aren’t taking animals at the moment anyway, as the flights are operating a very reduced service. If you wanted to get a rabies jab, then you have to delay your travel by a further three weeks.

‘I’m sorry to say that vets have had inquiries about euthanasia, which is disgusting.

‘Most vets would pass them on to the shelters, but we’re already full.’

Czech Authorities Investigate Arms Factory Arson as Potential Terrorist Act

0

Czech authorities have launched an investigation into what appears to be an arson attack on an arms manufacturing facility in Pardubice, treating it as a potential act of terrorism. A group has claimed responsibility for the fire, citing the company’s past business associations with Israel as a motive.

On Friday, a blaze erupted at the Elbit Systems warehouse in Pardubice, Czechia, believed to be caused by arson. The company, known for producing drones and advanced technologies for aerospace and military purposes, stated that it had ceased any collaboration with Israel and had not manufactured drones for the Israeli Defense Forces.

Despite this, a group identifying itself as the ‘Earthquake Faction’ took responsibility for the attack, pointing to the firm’s historical connections with Israel. This indicates a possible pro-Palestinian or pro-Iranian motive, according to reports from the Czech newspaper Blesk.

The group declared, “We are an internationalist underground network targeting key sites crucial to the Zionist entity.”

They further alleged, “Elbit Systems portrays itself as the backbone of the Israeli military, supplying the majority of ground and air weaponry used in Israel’s operations against Iran and what they termed as the genocide in Palestine.”

However, some have suggested that the attack may have been a so-called false flag operation, and that the arms factory was actually targeted over its supplying of drones to Ukraine.

Extremism expert Jan Charvát of Prague’s Charles University said that it is possible that the perpetrators could be genuine pro-Palestine radicals, Iranian-tied terrorists, or pro-Russian partisans.

“For an attack of this kind, it would make sense to attack a company that manufactures drones that are shipped to Ukraine, which this Czech company is,” Charvát said.

Terrorism expert Oldřich Bureš noted that everything is still speculation at this point, saying: “We have experience with arson attacks from the past in the Czech Republic, where they were more likely hired hybrid threats from the Russian Federation. We have arson attacks from other European countries where left-wing groups were involved.”

Commenting on the attack, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said, “Security authorities are working, the incident is being investigated. We have taken a number of measures. It happened at a private company, so the main thing is to send a message to all manufacturers who produce defense material to secure their premises. The premises of the company that was attacked were not secured.”

Transform Your Health: Quick 6-Minute Bed Routine for Restoring Balance After 65

0

Performing a quick balance exercise routine right on your bed can be highly beneficial and convenient.

Maintaining balance is crucial for overall well-being, especially as we age. Good balance helps in preventing falls, which are a leading cause of injury among seniors. Moreover, it plays a vital role in sustaining independence, allowing you to walk, climb stairs, and handle daily tasks more efficiently.

As we get older, there is a natural decline in muscle mass and bone density. However, by focusing on building strength, you can enhance your balance and improve your quality of life. We consulted with Doug Bertram, M.S., L.Ac., MTCM, the Founder and CEO of the orthopedic wellness company Structural Elements, who shared a six-minute bed exercise routine designed to enhance full-body balance for those over 65.

The phrase “Use it or lose it” aptly captures the essence of staying active. As people age, they often fall into routines and shy away from new challenges, but staying engaged is key to maintaining balance and strength.

Why Balance Tends To Decline With Age

There’s a popular saying that goes, “Use it or lose it.” With age, it’s common to stop embracing new challenges and become a creature of habit.

“We golf nine holes every Wednesday at 11 am with Larry and have a cup of clam chowder afterward. Our routines become predictable, and the body adapts to doing the same things over and over. But it’s new challenges that keep us resilient,” explains Bertram. “One of the first planes of movement to go is often rotation. We walk, maybe even run, but stop moving laterally and rotating. This is one reason why people are drawn to pickleball, it introduces non linear movement and includes rotation.”

Another common habit to adopt with age is watching the ground as you walk out of fear of tripping or losing your balance.

“Once the head goes down, our center of mass falls forward. To counter this people widen their stance and externally rotate the feet (duck feet). Now we are using our big muscles, our prime movers, in a postural role,” Bertram adds.

What Makes These Exercises Productive

The workout below was designed to improve balance, flexibility, and promote relaxation for those 65+. It emphasizes gentle movements that can be completed while lying in bed.

“By following this routine regularly, you can enhance your balance, flexibility, and overall well-being,” Bertram says.

Windshield Wipers

  1. Lie flat on your back with your arms stretched out to the sides to form a “T,” palms facing down.
  2. Lift your knees so your hips and knees are bent to 90 degrees.
  3. Press your lower back into the mattress and activate the core.
  4. Slowly lower your knees to your left side, making sure your shoulders stay pressed into the mattress.
  5. Hold for a moment on the left side before returning to the center.
  6. Slowly lower your knees to the right.
  7. Perform the exercise for 1 minute.

Single Knee to Chest

“This helps in stretching the lower back and improving hip flexibility,” Bertram notes.

  1. Lie flat on your back with legs extended.
  2. Squeeze one knee in toward your chest with both hands.
  3. Hold for a moment before releasing.
  4. Alternate knees, performing the exercise for 1 minute.

Knee to Chest Hold

  1. After alternating the single knee to chest movement, hold each knee to your chest for 30 seconds.
  2. Keep the position relaxed.
  3. After holding, complete foot circles for 15 seconds in one direction and then 15 seconds in the other direction for each leg.

Chin Tucks with Arm Position

“[This exercise] lengthens the spine and promotes proper head alignment,” Bertram explains.

  1. Begin lying flat on the mattress with your arms outstretched to the sides, palms facing up.
  2. Tuck your chin in toward your chest with each inhale and release on the exhale.
  3. Perform this exercise for 1 minute.

“This combination helps to release tension in the low back, aligns the pelvis, and enhances overall body awareness,” Bertram says.

  1. Tuck your chin, clench your fists, and flex your feet toward your knees with each inhale.
  2. Release on the exhale.
  3. Perform this for 1 minute.

Key Witness from Alex Murdaugh Murder Trial Now Investigating Unusual Death of Buster Murdaugh’s Former Classmate, Stephen Smith

Kenny Kinsey, a leading forensic expert who provided testimony for the prosecution during the high-profile Murdaugh murder trial in 2023, has now turned his attention to an independent investigation into the death of Stephen Smith.

Kinsey has expressed concerns that significant investigative opportunities were overlooked in the early stages of the 2015 case. Stephen Smith’s body was discovered with a 7½-inch fracture to his skull, a detail that was initially reported to authorities via a 911 call.

Though Smith’s death was first treated as a hit-and-run incident, investigators later concluded that the available evidence did not align with this explanation.

In a new development, Stephen Smith’s remains have been exhumed, re-examined through a fresh autopsy, and subsequently laid to rest once again.

Nicole Kidman Sparks Romance Rumors with Aussie Co-Star Post Keith Urban Split

0

Nicole Kidman is embracing the limelight with an open heart.

The acclaimed actress recently turned heads when she was seen holding hands with her “Scarpetta” co-star, Simon Baker, at a red carpet event in New York City on March 3. Their chemistry was palpable not only on the carpet but also during the afterparty, where their close bond was evident.

A source confided to The Sun, emphasizing, “Nicole and Simon’s closeness is definitely the talk of the town right now. They share incredible chemistry on screen, and witnessing them together in real life confirms that their connection is genuine.”

During the afterparty, the insider noted, “They stayed close all night and were engaged in deep conversation.”

Despite the buzz surrounding their apparent closeness, representatives for both Kidman and Baker have not yet responded to requests for comment from Page Six.

In the Prime thriller, Kidman, 58, stars as forensic pathologist, Dr. Kay Scarpetta, while Baker, 56, plays her husband, Benton Wesley.

In 2022, the “Babygirl” actress and “Devil Wears Prada” star also appeared as a married couple in the series “Roar.”

Kidman and Baker have also known each other long before working together.

The Oscar winner is the godmother to Baker’s son with his ex-wife, Rebecca Rigg.

The pair was married from 1998 to 2020.

For her part, Kidman tied the knot with Tom Cruise in 1990 before splitting in 2001.

The exes share kids Bella, 33, and Connor, 31.

The “Eyes Wide Shut” star found love again with country star Keith Urban, whom she married in 2006.

The duo are parents to daughters Sunday, 17, and daughter Faith, 15.

However, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban, 58, after 19 years of marriage, in September.

“Sometimes relationships just run their course,” a source told us at the time, adding that Kidman “did not want the separation and was trying to save things.”

The pair had reportedly been living apart since the beginning of summer 2025.

Following their breakup, the “You Look Good in My Shirt” artist was rumored to be romantically involved with his guitarist, Maggie Baugh. However, Baugh’s friend shut down the speculation.

Kidman and Urban’s divorce was finalized in January.

Police Investigate Person of Interest in Fatal Shooting of Loyola Student in Rogers Park

0

Chicago authorities are currently interrogating a person of interest linked to the fatal shooting of a Loyola University student that occurred on Thursday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and the university.

Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old student, was taking an evening walk with friends at Tobey Prinz Beach, situated less than a mile from the Loyola campus, when the tragic event unfolded around 1 a.m.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

According to police reports, an unidentified male suspect approached the group, brandished a firearm, and began shooting. The sudden attack left Gorman fatally wounded.

Tragically, Gorman sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no one else in the group was harmed during the incident.

Originally from New York, Gorman was nearing the completion of her freshman year at Loyola. Investigators have determined that she was not the intended target of the shooting, adding another layer of heartbreak to this senseless act.

Her family is speaking out, saying, “this was murder.”

Gorman’s relatives described her as “the light of our lives,” saying, “she made people feel seen, safe, and loved simply by being who she was.”

Classmates gathered inside the chapel for a private vigil as the bell tolled and shared memories of Gorman on Thursday evening.

Students are also demanding more safety protocols moving forward.

Police did not immediately provide further information on Saturday.

Tragedy in Alabama: Was Student Jimmy Gracey Drugged Before His Mysterious Drowning?

0

An emerging report suggests that an American student who tragically drowned during a spring break trip to Spain might have been drugged before his death.

James ‘Jimmy’ Gracey, aged 20 and a junior at the University of Alabama, was visiting friends in Barcelona who were studying abroad.

The incident occurred after Gracey parted ways with his friends around 3 a.m. near the beachfront nightclub Shôko and did not return.

Police divers discovered Gracey’s body submerged in approximately 12 feet of water in front of Port Olympic around 6 p.m. the following day.

According to a source cited by Fox News Digital, investigators are considering the possibility that he may have been drugged.

Gracey is believed to have walked toward the water on his own and fallen in while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both, the insider said.

Police arrested a man who had stolen Gracey’s phone but they do not think the individual, who had a history of thefts, had any direct contact with the student, per the source.

The man is believed to have found the phone on the street before pocketing it.

Gracey’s wallet was found intact, with cash, credit cards and ID inside.

However, several ‘loose ends’ still needed to be sorted out by police, according to the insider.

Autopsy and toxicology results are still pending, and they are not expected to be completed until next Thursday.

Gracey’s disappearance was brought to light when his mother Therese issued an urgent plea for help in the search for him earlier this week on Facebook.

‘The police have his phone but he never made it back to his Airbnb,’ Therese wrote.

She pleaded with anyone who may have seen him to come forward and contact her.

Therese said police found her son’s phone when they arrested someone, but cops had shared very few details with the family.

‘What we’ve put together is that his phone was stolen and the police just happened to pick the guy who stole it up,’ she wrote online.

She claimed that law enforcement had discovered Gracey’s phone ‘when they searched the guy.’

Gracey is from the Elmhurst suburb of Chicago, Illinois. He was part of the Theta Chi fraternity at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa

The distance from Shôko to Gracey's tourist apartment was roughly 3km (1.8 miles). He never made it back from the seaside club

Gracey was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants, likely joggers, as well as a gold chain with a rhinestone cross when he disappeared.

Shôko is a bustling beachfront nightclub along Barcelona’s La Barceloneta seaside neighborhood, known for its Mediterranean views and popular among locals and visitors.

It has been ranked the seventh best nightclub in the world by Nightlife International

Gracey’s preliminary autopsy report recorded an initial finding of accidental death, a Spanish judicial source previously told the Daily Mail.

The initial death finding is followed by a full autopsy, though this typically confirms the finding of the first report.

‘The relevant arrangements have been made with the victim’s relatives, who are in Barcelona,’ police said in an earlier statement.

Catalan law enforcement were assisted by a sighting of Gracey walking towards the sea on the beach adjacent to the nightclub, then again on the breakwater.

‘A witness who happened to be passing saw him leave the nightclub, saw him heading towards this rocky outcrop,’ a Mossos d’Esquadra source earlier told the Daily Mail. ‘From there he may have fallen into the sea and drowned.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Catalan regional police force and the Gracey family for further comment.

Augusta Charter Review Committee Adjourns Without Quorum, Delays Final Vote

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Charter Review Committee has reached an impasse, closing its final chapter without a conclusive outcome. For the second consecutive day, several members were absent from what was intended to be the committee’s decisive meeting.

The purpose of Friday’s gathering was to finalize amendments to the city’s governing charter and present them to the state legislature for consideration. However, the absence of a quorum left the committee unable to proceed.

Committee Chairperson Marcie Wilhelmi expressed uncertainty, stating, “We have a draft charter that required adjustments and approval from the committee. Unfortunately, that task was not completed. It’s unclear what the next steps will be.”

On Thursday, four committee members—Dr. Sheffie Robinson, Angela Bakos, Frank Lewis, and Augustus Palmer—shared a letter voicing their concerns. They highlighted unresolved issues such as term limits and residency requirements for commissioners. Moreover, they pointed out that alterations had been made to the draft without transparent, officially recorded decisions by the committee.

In the letter, they claim the current document reduces government accountability saying in part:

“We are not accusing any appointed or elected official of malfeasance. However, while the perception of objectivity was intended, the perception of collusion is present in this document. And for that reason, it should not be sent to the State Legislature.”

Wilhelmi disagrees.

“I have different opinions than they do on most of it, and as does our consultants. And so everybody in America is entitled to their own opinions. We do not share them. Clearly. We’re here. They’re not.”

The biggest change recommended by the committee would be moving to a city manager form of government, which the whole committee agreed on.

Thursday night state Representative Mark Newton introduced House Bill 1584 that would add changing Augusta’s form of government to November’s ballot, even though the legislative session will end before lawmakers can vote on changes.

“I think Mark Newton is doing the right thing. He is. He’s doing the right thing and it needs to happen. Most of the counties in Georgia run under city management. There is no reason why Augusta, Georgia, can’t do it,” said District 3 Commissioner, Catherine Smith- Rice.

Senator Max Burns also introduced the same legislation to the Georgia Senate with SB 628.

Commissioner Smith-Rice and Wilhelmi are disappointed with how things ended with the Charter Review Committee.

“If you’re going to be on a committee, you volunteer, show up! You might not like the way it goes- the way the vote goes- but be a part,” Smith-Rice said. “Don’t be a coward and just not show up because it might not go in your favor.”

“It’s unfortunate that it ended the way it did, but it also probably gives us something to stand on when it does come for a referendum that this is Exhibit A and why we need to vote for the charter changes,” said Wilhelmi.

Now it’s up to commissioners to review the committee’s recommended changes and decide whether to accept or amend them.

Senator Mark Newton said even though the deadline the Charter review Committee was trying to meet has passed they can still move things forward.

“It is too late in the session to introduce a full charter replacement this year. However, important progress could be made in the widely supported transition to a county manager form of government,” Newton explained. “House Bill 1584 will allow this important choice to be put before the voters in November of this year and then the citizens of Augusta will decide. This change could bring about vital improvements in clear lines of responsibility and help Augusta to be eligible for grants and other funding that we are currently missing out on.”

Newton added that there is one important hurdle to jump for that to happen.

“In order to get this passed this year, all four current members of the Augusta House delegation need to agree along with two senators that represent Augusta,” he said.

Newton is asking voters to contact each state representative and encourage them to vote for this step.

Judge Accuses ICE Agents of Repeatedly Violating Man’s Rights Under Coercive Conditions

0

President Donald Trump arrives to speak during a roundtable on criminal cartels in the State Dining Room of the White House, Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, in Washington, as Attorney General Pam Bondi and then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem watch (AP Photo/Evan Vucci).

A federal judge in Nevada has sharply criticized the Trump administration for imposing excessively harsh and “coercive” conditions on the release of an immigrant who suffered torture in his home country and is now seeking asylum.

The judge’s ruling, detailed in a three-page order, marks the latest judicial challenge to the new detention policies introduced by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). These policies, which have been in effect since last summer, have faced widespread rejection from hundreds of district court judges, who oppose ICE’s attempts to indefinitely detain immigrants through reclassification.

In this particular case, Kevin Eliel Aguirre Solis, the petitioner, had already persuaded U.S. District Judge Richard Franklin Boulware II, appointed by Barack Obama, to order his “immediate release from custody” due to violations of his due process rights by the government.

Despite Aguirre Solis’s release, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been found by the court to have engaged in inappropriate conduct, prompting the latest stringent ruling.

Aguirre Solis entered the United States in 2020, escaping political persecution and torture at the hands of Nicaraguan authorities. His actions, which included participating in peaceful protests against the government’s proposed changes to the national pension system, were highlighted in an earlier court order.

While the petitioner lived in the United States, he followed the law, the court explained – aside from a parking ticket and a speeding ticket. But then a third interaction with law enforcement dovetailed with the new ICE policy of “mandatory detention.”

“In June of 2025, the North Las Vegas police pulled Petitioner over while he was driving,” the court explains. “He was accused of driving under the influence because he was shaking and sweating, a reaction that is triggered whenever he sees police due to his prior torture by Nicaraguan authorities. He was charged with four misdemeanors for driving under the influence, headlamps not illuminated, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and failure to provide proof of insurance.”

And though he posted bond on the charges, Aguirre Solis was not released from custody, the judge said, because “ICE knowingly and unlawfully commenced expedited removal proceedings.”

Attorneys for the petitioner filed a petition for the writ of habeas corpus in January – which Boulware quickly granted.

In his order explaining the release decision, the judge notes the case “is one of a rapidly growing number before this Court.” And, in a footnote, further explains: “This Court has already granted habeas petitioners relief—both preliminary and on the merits—in well over sixty similar challenges and counting.”

In that February order, the court offered a severe account of the government’s efforts to rewrite the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and how those efforts were applied to Aguirre Solis.

“He was erroneously placed in expedited removal proceedings by Respondents despite their acknowledgement that he has been present in the country since 2020, and thus cannot, by statute, be deprived of the procedural protections of standard removal proceedings,” the release order reads. “The Court thus grants the Petition and orders Respondents to immediately release him from detention on his own recognizance.”

The release order angrily recalls facts of the petitioner’s detention:

While in ICE custody, he was coerced to sign a document he could not understand, deprived of his right to speak to his counsel, placed in inhumane conditions, and nearly illegally removed from the U.S. by ICE agents despite, as Respondents concede, ICE having no authority to remove him. This caused him severe mental distress as a survivor of persecution and torture by Nicaraguan authorities who struggles with trauma related mental health symptoms. He has been subjected to nearly eight months of arbitrary detention while Respondents have never articulated— either in immigration court proceedings or in this Court—any individualized justification to continue to detain him.

But after the government was forced to release Aguirre Solis, ICE officials have continued to insist on strict control over his movements, the petitioner’s attorneys explained in a motion to reopen the case.

“Despite the Court’s Order requiring Petitioner’s release on personal recognizance, ICE and DHS unilaterally imposed release conditions that constitute a significant constraint on Petitioner’s liberty, including ‘enrollment and successful participation in an Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program as designated by the U.S.’; 24/7 electronic surveillance with an ankle monitor, a curfew, and appearances at ICE offices every two weeks,” the order notes. “ICE asserts authority to unilaterally arrest and re-detain Petitioner, without a pre-deprivation hearing, if he violates any of these restrictive conditions.”

In response to that motion filed earlier this month, the court set an expedited briefing schedule and the Department of Justice has been doubly mum, Boulware explains. First, the government “filed no opposition” and second, the DOJ “has thus far not contested the factual assertions of Petitioner which the Court adopts here.”

In other words, the Trump administration’s lack of attention to the case have made the court’s decisions something of an easy call.

To that end, Boulware slammed ICE and DHS for their continued efforts to unconstitutionally harass Aguirre Solis.

“Disturbingly, this Court’s Order apparently did not deter ICE from continuing to egregiously violate Petitioner’s rights, despite never asserting a legitimate interest in depriving him of his liberty,” the judge lectures.

From the latest order, at length:

The Court now clarifies that personal recognizance means release without conditions during the pendency of his removal proceedings, other than that Petitioner is required to appear for any future hearings scheduled in those proceedings. The Court further finds these release conditions, coupled with the threat of nonjudicial rearrest and re-detention by ICE, which Federal Respondents unilaterally imposed despite never presenting evidence or argument that Petitioner was a flight risk or dangerous, violate this Court’s Order, and constitute significant constraints on Petitioner’s liberty.

“The government has no constitutionally recognized justification for these conditions—and the circumstances here suggest ICE is wielding these coercive conditions to terrorize Petitioner into abdicating his rights,” Boulware goes on.

The order vacates all the current release conditions on Aguirre Solis, enjoins ICE from imposing any release conditions without the judge’s express consent, mandates the removal of the petitioner’s ankle monitor, and directs the filing of a joint status report by March 27.

Exclusive: A Sydney mother is demanding justice for her 12-year-old daughter, urging legal action against the alleged perpetrators of a brutal bullying incident captured in distressing videos.

The young girl was reportedly enticed to a local shopping center by a classmate after school hours. Once there, she became the target of a vicious assault, witnessed and recorded by dozens of bystanders.

“She punched me in the back of my head. I fell to the ground, and that’s when she stomped on my head,” the victim recounted in an interview with 9News.

The attack left her with a black eye, a concussion, and injuries to her scalp from her earrings, along with several scratches on her body.

Following the incident, the girl had to be hospitalized due to her severe injuries, which included a blackened eye and significant head trauma.

“When I got there I saw my daughter on the floor,” the girl’s mother said, breaking down in tears.

“Sorry. She was unconscious on the floor and she wasn’t moving.”

Her mother claims teachers at the school have told her the bully won’t be punished because the attack didn’t happen on school grounds.

She wants the same for her daughter’s bully.

“Those girls that did that to her got arrested and charged for their actions and I believe this should happen for my daughter,” the Sydney mother said.

The young girl has spoken with detectives at the Lake Illawara police station.

She’s now taking time off school as she continues to recover from her injuries.

Her mother says she’s struggled to sleep and has suffered nightmares since the attack.

Police are investigating the matter.

No charges have been laid.
