Rhapsody Of Realities 23 March 2026: Dominion Over Satan And His Works

Rhapsody Of Realities 23 March 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Dominion Over Satan And His Works

TOPIC: Dominion Over Satan And His Works (Rhapsody of Realities 23 March 2026)

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

The Scriptures don’t give us the impression that all sicknesses and diseases are caused by demons. However, Satan does have a remote connection to sickness because he was the cause of sin from the very beginning, and the Bible tells us that through sin, death entered into the world. Sickness is simply incipient death.

Without sin, there would have been no sickness at all. But some have asked, “If Satan has something to do with sickness, how come doctors are able to cure them?” The answer is simple: Satan is not omnipotent. He doesn’t have all the power. He cannot control all of nature, nor can he totally dominate human life. Man still has a will, and man still has authority.

For example, consider the story of the demon-possessed man of Gadara (Mark 5:1-15). The Bible says he had a legion of demons, yet when the Lord Jesus came by, he ran toward Him. If the demons had their way, they would have prevented the man from approaching the Master. But they couldn’t stop him because even a demon-possessed man is not 100% controlled by Satan; his will still functions.

This shows that human beings, made in the image of God, are of a higher order than fallen angels. So, any evil or damage caused by Satan can often be undone. If, for example, someone had a car accident through satanic manipulation and the car was wrecked, you can repair the car, and Satan cannot stop it.

If Satan had all the power people imagine he has, he would have destroyed everyone long ago. But he hasn’t because he can’t. Yes, Satan does cause trouble, but as already stated, much of what he does can be undone through human effort. But where human ability stops, we use the Name of Jesus. The Lord Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and give us dominion over him and his cohorts of darkness. You have power far beyond human strength, far beyond this world. It’s the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s the power of the Name of Jesus. Therefore, your authority in Christ Jesus is greater than every force of darkness.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for giving me authority in the Name of Jesus. I exercise that authority over sickness, disease, and every work of darkness. I live in the victory of Christ, knowing that Satan is under my feet; His schemes are futile in and around me, and in the lives of those in my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Tragic Road Rage Incident on Edgewood Avenue: Suspect Search Intensifies After Fatal Shooting

0

In a tragic turn of events on Edgewood Avenue West, a road rage incident escalated into a deadly shootout, culminating in the death of a man. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the incident, which unfolded near the on-ramp to I-95 North.

Officers responded promptly to the scene at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a man, estimated to be in his early to mid-30s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings by the sheriff’s office suggest that the confrontation began as a road rage altercation. According to the investigation, the victim and an unidentified suspect stopped their vehicles at the on-ramp. It is believed that both individuals exited their cars and, armed with handguns, engaged in a shootout.

This incident underscores the potential dangers associated with road rage and highlights the tragic consequences that can arise from such confrontations. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in identifying the suspect involved in this fatal encounter.

Police said Sunday night that they believe the male suspect and the victim both stopped their cars at the on-ramp and exited with handguns before shooting at each other.

The suspect left the scene, and their identity was not immediately known. The sheriff’s office said they were looking for a male in a small silver SUV.

Anyone with information on the shooting and the suspect is asked to reach out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office directly at 904-630-0500. Anonymous tips can also be made through First Coast Crime Stoppers.

Investigators are expected to remain on scene for several hours.

Breakthrough in Cold Case: Suspect Charged After 6 Years, Search Ongoing for Missing Pregnant Teen and Baby’s Remains

0

Over six years after a pregnant teenager disappeared in California, authorities have now charged her boyfriend in connection with her case.

On March 16, San Joaquin District Attorney Ron Freitas revealed that a grand jury had indicted Joshua Martinez. He faces charges related to the murder of Victoria Marquina, along with accusations of unlawful intercourse with a minor more than three years younger, oral copulation with a person under 18, and sexual penetration by a foreign object involving a victim under 18.

In a press conference, Freitas stated, “This marks our second cold case prosecution since I assumed office. To those criminals who believe time will erase their transgressions, you are mistaken. And to the families of cold case victims, rest assured, we will relentlessly pursue justice for your loved ones.”

Victoria Marquina was last seen on October 9, 2019, near her place of work. When the 16-year-old failed to return home, her mother reported her missing the following day, initiating an extensive investigation that spanned years.

Suspicion quickly centered on Martinez, who was 21 at the time of Marquina’s disappearance. Freitas noted that their relationship was “very short-lived.”

From early on, suspicion fell to Martinez, who was 21 years old at the time Marquina disappeared. According to Frietas, the two had a “very short relationship.”

“They had met just about a month before her disappearance,” he said at the press conference. “She became pregnant, and then she went missing. So it was a whirlwind, very fast relationship, and very, very short.”

Martinez allegedly admitted to seeing Marquina around the time she disappeared, but told investigators that he’d dropped her off in Sutter Creek the morning of Oct. 6 and hadn’t seen her again, according to a 2019 statement from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office added, “Joshua’s residence was searched, but Victoria was not located.”

The pregnant teenager’s black Honda Accord was later found abandoned on Oct. 13 in San Joaquin County. An eye witness had reported seeing a young Hispanic couple matching the description of Martinez and Marquina with his vehicle, the sheriff’s office said at the time.

Martinez fled to Mexico shortly after Marquina disappeared, but was later extradited back to the United States, according to CBS News. He was arrested once previously in connection to the case, but was later released.

New Information Led to Arrest of Joshua Martinez

Frietas said on March 16 that the new charges against Martinez were the result of some “new information” in the case, but declined to provide further details.

The Amardor County District Attorney’s Office—who worked in conjunction with the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office—said in a statement that evidence was discovered during the investigation “indicating that Victoria became the victim of a homicide outside of Amador County.”

“Victoria’s family has endured an unimaginable tragedy — the disappearance of a child under criminal circumstances,” Amador County District Attorney Todd Riebe said in the statement. “The involvement of multiple agencies and evidence spanning several counties has made this already devastating situation even more complex and painful for them over the years.”

The teen’s body has never been found.

“Victoria is dead, and we are looking for her remains and the remains of her unborn child,” Frietas said during the press conference. “We need closure for the family. So anyone having that information of where her remains are, we’re asking them to come forward.”

Victoria Marquina’s Mom Says Daughter Had “Many Dreams”

In comments to CBS News Sacramento, Marquina’s mom Blance Valencia said through an interpreter that she believes “justice is working” in the case.

“I think that by now she would be graduated, received, and would be a fulfilled woman,” she told the outlet. ”She had many dreams. Many dreams. Unfortunately, someone cut us off. But I still have faith, I still have hope that she will return home.”

If convicted of the charges against him, Martinez could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, prosecutors said. He is currently being held without bail at the San Joaquin County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6.

It’s unclear whether he has retained an attorney. Oxygen reached out to the San Joaquin County Public Defender’s Office, but did not receive an immediate reply.

Three Hooded Individuals Allegedly Ignite Ambulances Outside Golders Green Synagogue, Prompting Antisemitic Hate Crime Investigation

0

In a distressing incident this morning, four Jewish volunteer ambulances were set ablaze outside a synagogue in London, sparking concerns of an antisemitic hate crime. The attack has been strongly condemned by Labour leader Keir Starmer.

Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the arson attack, which targeted vehicles belonging to the Jewish Community Ambulance service. The incident occurred late at night, raising alarms about the safety of community resources.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with six fire engines and 40 firefighters dispatched to Highfield Road near the Mchzike Hadath synagogue in Golders Green. The crews arrived at approximately 1:45 a.m. to extinguish the raging fires. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Security camera footage circulating on social media captures a troubling scene where three hooded individuals approach one of the parked ambulances, which subsequently bursts into flames. The suspects are then seen fleeing the scene.

Additional footage reveals the ambulances engulfed in fire, accompanied by several loud explosions echoing through the night. The incident has raised serious concerns within the community and beyond.

Such was the force of the blasts, believed to be gas canisters onboard the Hatzola ambulances, they caused windows to break in a nearby block of flats.

The Prime Minister said the incident was ‘deeply shocking’, while the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, described it as a ‘cowardly attack on the Jewish community’.

Sir Keir Starmer said: ‘This is a deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.

‘My thoughts are with the Jewish community who are waking up this morning to this horrific news.

‘Antisemitism has no place in our society. Anyone with any information must come forward to the police.’

The vehicles were part of a non-profit volunteer Jewish organisation, which provides a 24/7 emergency service to the community for free.

Residents in the area were evacuated as a precaution and roads in the surrounding area remain closed.

Hatzola, which was established in 1979 and is run by volunteers, provides free medical transportation to those living in North London.

Seeking to reassure Londoners on Monday, Sir Sadiq Khan said: ‘This is a cowardly attack on the Jewish community.

‘I am in close contact with the police who are stepping up patrols in the area, and I urge anyone with information to come forward.

‘Londoners will never be cowed by this kind of hatred and intimidation.’

Superintendent Sarah Jackson, said: ‘We know this incident will cause a great deal of community concern and officers remain on scene to carry out urgent enquiries.

‘We are in the process of examining CCTV and are aware of online footage. We believe we are looking for three suspects at this early stage.

‘There have been no arrests yet, and we would urge anyone with information to please contact us as soon as possible – you can do so anonymously if you wish.

‘We will be engaging with faith leaders and carrying out additional patrols in the local area as we continue our investigation to provide reassurance and a highly visible presence.’

Health Secretary Wes Streeting described the fire as a ‘sickening attack’, in a statement on social media.

He added: ‘Thank goodness there appear to be no injuries.  Anyone with information should come forward to the Police.  We must stand together against antisemitic hatred.’

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis said in a statement on X: ‘The deliberate arson attacks against Hatzola ambulances in London are a particularly sickening assault – not only on the Jewish community, but on the values we share as a society.

‘Our Hatzola volunteer ambulance corps is an extraordinary service, whose sole mission is to protect life, Jewish and non-Jewish alike.

‘The targeting of Hatzola by people so committed to terror, hatred and the desecration of life is a most painful illustration of the ongoing battle between those who sanctify life and those who seek to destroy it.

‘At a time when Jewish communities around the world are facing a growing pattern of these violent attacks, we will meet this moment with shared resolve and stand together against hatred and intimidation.’

Community Security Trust (CST), a charity which monitors antisemitism in the UK, confirmed in a statement on X that it was assisting police in their enquiries.

The statement said: ‘We are aware of multiple Hatzola ambulances that have been deliberately set alight in London.

‘This has obvious comparison to similar antisemitic arson attacks recently in Belgium and the Netherlands.

‘No injuries have been reported at this time and we are helping MPSBarnet with their enquiries.’

Shomrim, a non-profit organisation which operates a neighbourhood watch in the Golders Green neighbourhood, said it was ‘aware of loud explosions’ early on Monday morning.

‘Emergency services are on scene following a deliberate incident involving Hatzola ambulances being set alight,’ the group said in a post on X.

‘The explosions were caused by oxygen tanks not a bomb or explosive device. Although some buildings have been evacuated no casualties have been reported.

‘Please avoid the area while investigations continue.’

Shomrim said the facility run by Hatzola remained fully operational following the fire.

Golders Green ward councillor Dean Cohen, who was at the scene, told Jewish News that the fact the incident was taking place in the ‘car park of a synagogue is particularly chilling and will send shockwaves through our community at a time of already heightened fears over antisemitism in the UK’.

He said: ‘It’s beyond time for the authorities to wake and do more to tackle this hate running riot.’

Peter Zinkin, who represents the Golders Green ward on Barnet Council, said his initial response was ‘shock and horror’, but said the second response was a ‘deep and overwhelming sadness that this has happened’.

He added: ‘You have to ask yourself, why is this happening? And the answer, tragically, is that a combination of circumstances, led by part of the Government and part of the media, has validated antisemitism in this country, to the point that three individuals have concluded that it’s okay to set ambulances, whose sole purpose, is life-saving or life helping, funded by the local community, alight.’

Councillor Zinkin, who is the Tory group leader on the council, added: ‘We will be doing everything we can to encourage the police, and of course, our own Community Security Trust, to recognise the elevated level of threat that we now seem to be under, and to increase the level of security, which the community is sheltering behind, which is just terrible. Just terrible.’

Local resident and councillor Shimon Ryde told the BBC: ‘It’s very shocking, it’s not unexpected.

‘The Jewish community is very aware of the danger we live in.’

Housing minister Matthew Pennycook said the apparent arson attack on ambulances in Golders Green, north London, was ‘deeply shocking’.

When asked whether there was a concern it could be a pro-Iranian attack, Mr Pennycook said: ‘I’m sure the security services will be looking into that, and the Met will be investigating. I’m very reluctant to get ahead of what is still a live investigation.’

Board of Deputies of British Jews President Phil Rosenberg said the attack on Hatzola Jewish community ambulances was ‘despicable’.

Phil said: ‘Ambulances, like those of the wonderful Hatzola organisation, point to the Jewish obligation to “choose life”.

‘By contrast, the despicable individuals who committed an arson attack on ambulances in Golders Green this morning show the emptiness of their cause.

‘While the motives are unclear at this stage, this attack comes in the context of rising antisemitism around the world. This is a threat not just to the Jewish community but to our societies as a whole.

‘We thank the emergency services, the Community Security Trust, Shomrim and Hatzola for their rapid response and their work to keep us safe every day. We urge the public to support the police in finding the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

‘The UK Jewish community will meet the moment with strength, pride and resolve. We will replace the ambulances and continue our service to this nation that we love.

‘We shall not be moved.’

Austin’s Influence Reaches from New Zealand to Orkney: Discover the Global Impact

For drivers, acquiring your first vehicle is a significant milestone, filled with memories that grow alongside the odometer readings.

Yet one woman from Scotland has taken her enthusiasm to another level by purchasing the same type of classic car she owned nearly half a century ago—sourced from the other side of the globe.

Cathleen Hourie, now 72, originally received her first Austin 3-litre from a past boyfriend who had lost his driver’s license and needed someone to chauffeur him around.

Eventually, Cathleen parted with the beloved car, a decision she has regretted ever since.

After years of longing for her old automobile, she was ecstatic to discover an identical model available for purchase.

However, the vehicle was marketed by a dealer in New Zealand.

She messaged car seller Hans Compter and finally picked up the keys earlier this year.

Mrs Hourie explained that in the late 1970s she became the owner of this model of car after the deal with her then boyfriend and added: ‘It seemed like a good idea at the time.

‘I got over the boyfriend – but I never got over the car.’

Although the retired hairdresser went on to own other Austin 3-Litres, it was the first one she struggled to let go.

And after trawling the internet to find more for sale, she was delighted to spot one advertised last summer until she realised the vehicle was in New Zealand.

She contacted Mr Compter after seeing the four-figure sale price included shipment to the Netherlands and added: ‘He became enthusiastic about getting it here [to me in Orkney].’

After securing the deal last year, the seller – who is in his mid 80s – began the process of getting it over to Scotland.

Mr Compter who has bases in New Zealand and the Netherlands packed the car in a container and had it transported to his homeland in Europe.

He fixed it up and loaded it onto his 1970 Opel Blitz truck that has been turned into a car transporter before sailing to Newcastle and driving onwards to Orkney.

However, Mr Compter still had quite a distance to travel, and his long journey nearly hit the buffers at the notoriously steep Berriedale Braes in Caithness, after pulling into what he thought was a lay-by, but was actually a soft escape bed for vehicles whose brakes have failed.

He was stuck for about an hour before being pulled out.

Mrs Hourie says she had offered to meet him in Aberdeen, but he insisted on taking the vehicle all the way to Orkney.

Austin made fewer than 10,000 of the 3-Litre model, and there are believed to be only around 30 of them left on the road.

She admitted his dedication to deliver the car in person was a bit of a shock and added: ‘Having now met Hans, I’m not in the least bit surprised. He has a great affinity for the cars that he has collected. He likes to know where they’re going, and why people want them.’

And the delighted new owner added: ‘It was quite a moment seeing it for the first time, and it’s just such a fun thing to think that it’s come that distance. It’s in really good condition, and I’m chuffed to pieces.’

In terms of the customer service rating she would give him, she said: ‘Absolutely five stars – maybe even six.’

Mrs Hourie and her farmer husband John even had Mr Compter to stay at their home for a couple of nights, and showed him around Orkney. She added: ‘I really enjoyed the couple of days he spent here with us, and we’ll keep in touch.’

Mr Compter was quoted saying of the vintage car: ‘I don’t see why you couldn’t use it for the next 50 years easily.’

As for why Mrs Hourie is such a fan of the Austin 3-Litre, she said. ‘I like the style of it, and it’s a pleasure to drive. You have to drive a classic car with a smile on your face. Everyone waves to you, everyone looks at it and asks you about it.

‘I think it’ll be a Sunday car for me, but I’ve been asked about taking it to a classic car show this summer in Shetland.’

Austin made fewer than 10,000 of the 3-Litre model, and there are believed to be only around 30 of them left on the road.

According to austinthreelitre.co.uk, it was the last luxury car to bear the Austin badge, and each one was built at the Austin Cowley factory between 1967 and 1971.

Police forces had a fleet for motorway use, while some were converted into ambulances, hearses, and limousines.

Revitalize Your Strength After 60: 5 Daily Exercises That Outperform Traditional Gym Routines

0

Embracing certain everyday exercises can significantly enhance your overall strength and well-being. These moves are particularly vital as you age, enabling you to tackle daily activities with confidence and vigor.

As you enter your 30s, a gradual decline in lean muscle mass and strength becomes a natural part of aging, primarily due to a condition known as sarcopenia. According to Josh York, the founder and CEO of GYMGUYZ, sarcopenia is exacerbated by hormonal changes, decreased physical activity, and the body’s diminishing ability to utilize protein efficiently. To combat this, York recommends five specific exercises that can bolster your strength more effectively than traditional gym routines, especially for those over 60.

York emphasizes, “Many people overlook the fact that muscle mass contributes not just to strength but also significantly impacts balance, mobility, metabolism, and even bone density.” He warns that diminished muscle mass can lead to a loss of stability and slower reaction times, raising the risk of falls—a primary cause of injury among older adults. Thus, strength training post-60 is not merely about aesthetics; it’s crucial for maintaining independence and the capability to perform everyday tasks, such as carrying groceries, climbing stairs, and staying active with family.

These exercises, designed for home practice, eliminate common obstacles such as access and comfort. They allow fitness enthusiasts to exercise at their own pace, with adjustments to accommodate varying ability and mobility levels. By incorporating these movements into your routine, you can ensure a stronger, healthier future.

These at-home exercises kick certain barriers like accessibility and comfort to the curb. They help fitness enthusiasts work out at their own pace and can be adjusted according to ability and mobility levels.

Elderly DoorDash Driver Awarded Nearly $1 Million Check

0

An elderly DoorDash driver from Tennessee, who became an internet sensation after a video showed him having difficulty delivering a Starbucks order, has received nearly $1 million in donations. Despite this unexpected windfall, he has decided against retiring.

Richard Pulley, 78, was captured on a doorbell camera as he painstakingly navigated a set of stairs to deliver a coffee order to Brittany Smith’s home. Smith, a nurse from Manchester, was moved by Pulley’s effort and determination.

After learning that Pulley had been forced out of retirement due to his wife Brenda’s sudden job loss, Smith launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Give Richard a Chance to Rest Again.” Her initiative struck a chord, attracting thousands of donors.

Last Friday, Pulley received a transformative check for $965,868, thanks to the generosity of over 32,000 contributors, including a notable $20,000 donation from DoorDash itself.

Despite his newfound fortune and online fame, Pulley has announced through Today.com that he plans to resume work within a few days.

‘They’ve set my wife and I up so that we can live a more comfortable life,’ the hardworking driver told the outlet.

‘But after a week or two of this and it cools down, we’ll get back to work because I feel good being useful,’ he added.

Instead, his wife said they plan to use the funds to slow down and ease financial stress, with Pulley adding that the donations are ‘making life livable once again,’ according to WSMV 4 News

‘I taught myself how to be a good worker again, although the last couple of shifts have worked out hard because people stop and take pictures with me and all sorts of things,’ he told Today.

‘I’ll get back to work in the next few days,’ he added, explaining that while the job was initially for money, it has also given him the benefit of daily exercise.

The touching tale began just weeks ago, when Smith said she was not happy after learning that her daughter’s father had arranged for Starbucks to be delivered to her front door for the third time that week, according to The Independent.

That one order, however, may have been fate. When Smith clicked on the Ring doorbell app, she saw ‘a little old man walking up the steps.’

‘My heart just sank,’ she told Today.

In the brief clip lasting just 20 seconds, an elderly man in a plaid button-down shirt and khakis gripped the handrail as he slowly climbed a small set of stairs and carefully set a brown paper bag at the front door.

‘I called my husband and was like, “I don’t know what kind of tip you left this man, but it better have been a good one,”‘ Smith told Today, explaining that her husband, who is quadriplegic, never had any contact with the driver.

‘He’s like “Why?”‘ she added. ‘I downloaded the video and sent it to him and he’s like, “Oh my God, that is awful.”‘

Smith felt compelled to use social media to track down the ‘precious man,’ sharing the moving video in an effort to learn his name.

The clip quickly amassed millions of views, with one Facebook user recognizing the man as Pulley, who regularly delivered DoorDash orders to her office.

Smith tracked down his address, confirmed the car in the driveway matched her doorbell footage and showed up at his door with an unexpected $200 tip.

‘They are the most genuine people I have ever met,’ she told the outlet. ‘He genuinely loves and cares for her and she genuinely loves and cares for him.’

She later learned that Pulley had come out of retirement after his wife of 56 years lost her job, leaving the couple with little to nothing after paying monthly bills and medication costs.

‘My wife was working for an insurance company and they ended up letting her go,’ Pulley told Today, adding that while they receive Social Security, it still wasn’t enough to cover his wife’s expensive medication costing thousands a year.

‘When she left, it really put a pinch on us to pay bills,’ he added. ‘I had gotten lazy. You know, when we get 65 and retire… I wasn’t doing a lot, but all of a sudden, I had to get to work.’

Over the past year, he’s completed around 6,000 DoorDash deliveries full-time while working alongside his wife, who stays behind the wheel as he hops out to deliver the goods.

‘With just one income in the family, you have to push. Just losing that, we had to supplement it,’ Pulley told WSMV.

Brenda added: ‘When you’re past your mid-70s, there’s not exactly a line of people waiting to hire you.’

‘Sometimes you just look at all the things that you need to pay… because if it don’t, you’re going to end up in the hospital with something even more expensive than that.’

Smith’s fundraiser exploded online overnight, drawing donations from over 12,000 people by the very next day.

She and her daughter met Pulley and his wife at a local burger restaurant just days later to reveal the total amount of donations.

The couple were stunned by the generosity, admitting it was hard to believe that complete strangers had come together to support them.

‘It’s just really difficult to believe that there’s that many people that are that generous to try to help us. People that don’t even know us,’ Brenda told the outlet.

‘I just can’t believe that someone would be that caring to set this up for us,’ she added. ‘It takes off a lot. It really does.’

Smith said that the response to the fundraiser was 'overwhelming,' but she would 'do it all over again in a heartbeat'

Rideshare Price Surge: How Fuel Supply Worries Are Impacting Your Commute Costs

0

As fuel costs climb, the burden is shifting to passengers, with major rideshare companies hiking fares to offer drivers temporary relief.

Among the companies making these adjustments are Uber and DiDi, responding to concerns over Australia’s fuel supply, which has been impacted by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

DoorDash, a prominent food delivery service, is also stepping up to assist its drivers, promising immediate aid to those on the frontline of delivery services.

Starting Monday, drivers who log 100 kilometers or more each week will qualify for financial assistance. This initiative is particularly aimed at helping those in rural and suburban regions where longer distances are often traveled.

“The rise in fuel prices affects all Australians, especially those delivering goods across our communities,” commented Simon Rossi, vice president of DoorDash, in a statement to AAP.

“We want to back Dashers and provide immediate relief at the pump during this fuel crunch.

“It will help them keep delivering and earning, while saving families and individuals time.”

The program will continue until 30 April.

Transport Workers Union national secretary Michael Kaine welcomed the move, saying delivery workers had been hit incredibly hard by rising fuel prices.

Concern about fuel supplies has been mounting after six oil shipments to Australia were cancelled or postponed due to the war.

Iran’s decision to effectively close the Strait of Hormuz — a key global trade route — in response to US and Israeli strikes has sent global oil prices skyrocketing.

Domestic petrol and diesel prices have soared, but the government has repeatedly said shortages in some regional and rural areas were caused by panic-buying rather than supply issues.

Uber surchage will not be temporary

Rideshare app Uber will increase prices from next week, and the surcharge will not be temporary.

An Uber spokesperson told AAP it regularly reviewed fares to ensure it struck the right balance between drivers’ earnings and affordable rides.

“From next week, we will be updating Uber fares which will increase driver earnings by an average of six per cent across Australia,” the spokesperson said.

“These changes build on work already under way and reflect our ongoing commitment to better supporting driver earnings over time.”

Rival DiDi has added a five-cent-per-kilometre surcharge to help cover fuel costs for drivers.

“To help offset these increasing operating costs, DiDi will increase the temporary fuel surcharge applied to every DiDi trip nationwide,” head of external affairs Dan Jordan said.

“This adjustment is designed to provide additional support to drivers while fuel prices remain elevated.”

Jordan told AAP the rideshare provider would continue to review its pricing structure and service fees.

DiDi and Uber have existing partnership programs for their drivers.

NRL Legend’s Drunken Escapade: Arrest Sparks ‘Do You Know Who I Am?’ Drama

0

The oft-repeated phrase of public figures caught in awkward predicaments was again put to the test when renowned rugby legend Wendell Sailor found himself in legal trouble following a night of excessive revelry.

As stated in the court records, on the evening of November 6, 2024, the former Wallabies star got into a heated exchange with another patron at Pappy’s Bar, located in the heart of Sydney. This incident occurred shortly after 8:30 pm.

Despite being asked to vacate the premises multiple times due to his inebriated state, the 51-year-old Sailor refused to comply. The bar’s manager then threatened to involve law enforcement.

According to the court filings, Sailor retorted, “Go ahead and call the cops, see what happens.”

He then added, “Do you know who I am? You’re finished.”

Police spoke to him outside the bar before he spotted the man whom he accused of trying to fight him and gave chase, the agreed facts state.

Reinforcements were called to help arrest the former NRL and rugby union international, who maintained his capture was racially motivated.

He was subsequently granted bail on conditions that included a prohibition on being intoxicated in public.

But the premiership-winning NRL star ignored the restriction when he went to a sports bar in Wollongong and drank a large volume of alcohol on January 5, 2025, according to the agreed facts.

Police were called after he became aggressive with a taxi driver and found Sailor stumbling and swaying in the middle of the road.

He smelled strongly of alcohol and was slurring his words as he abused officers, the agreed facts state.

Officers called for backup as they struggled to arrest an increasingly aggressive former NRL star, who tensed his arms to prevent handcuffs being placed on him and braced himself against the car.

He resisted nine officers before eventually being taken into custody, where the agreed facts say he continued to be aggressive and hostile.

The 51-year-old appeared in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Monday after pleading guilty to failing to leave a premises after being excluded, intimidation, and resisting police.

His lawyer asked the court to dismiss the charges on mental health grounds, citing information arising out of a psychiatric report.

If the application is not successful when it’s heard on Friday, Sailor will be sentenced.

The former rugby great is in the process of a difficult separation from his wife of nearly three decades, a court was previously told.

He represented Australia in rugby league and rugby union, distinguishing himself as the top try-scorer when the Kangaroos won the Rugby League World Cup in 2000.

Sailor also proved a prolific scorer during a four-year rugby union stint, crossing 13 times in 37 games for the Wallabies and earning a start in the 2003 World Cup final.

He finished his 222-game NRL career in 2009 after nine seasons with the Brisbane Broncos and two seasons with St George Illawarra.
