Tragic Loss: Queensland MP Jimmy Sullivan’s Sudden Death Shocks the Nation

0

Queensland’s independent Member of Parliament, Jimmy Sullivan, has been discovered deceased in Brisbane.

Authorities reported responding to a location in Stafford around 10:15 p.m. last night, where they found the body of a man.

The police have stated that the circumstances surrounding the death do not appear suspicious, and they are in the process of preparing a report for the coroner’s office.

Last May, Sullivan was expelled from the Labor caucus due to personal difficulties, resulting in his transition to the crossbench.

This decision followed a particularly challenging period for Sullivan, beginning with police intervention at his residence following an alleged domestic incident the day after the state elections.

The matter was dismissed after a court appearance but the LNP didn’t let it drop in parliament.

Sullivan accused the LNP of a lack of decency, as Labor MPs raised concerns privately.

“I thank my leadership team for giving the time and space to address my health issues,” Sullivan said at the time.

This is a breaking story. More to come.

WHO urges Israel to cancel Lebanon evacuation order

The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged Israel to retract its evacuation order for certain areas in Beirut, which notably includes two hospitals within its scope.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted that the Jnah district is home to Rafik Hariri University Hospital and Al Zahraa Hospital. These facilities are currently caring for approximately 450 patients, a significant number of whom are in intensive care.

In a statement, Tedros emphasized the lack of alternative healthcare facilities to accommodate these patients, making any evacuation impractical.

He further pointed out the logistical challenges, stating that relocating intensive care patients is “operationally unfeasible.” Both hospitals are functioning at maximum capacity, also tending to individuals injured in recent Israeli airstrikes on Wednesday.

“I call on Israel to revoke this order and to uphold the protection of all medical facilities, healthcare workers, patients, and civilians,” Tedros urged.

His statement comes after Israel’s military warned residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs, long a stronghold of Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, of imminent strikes and told them to evacuate.

Inside RHOBH Drama: Sutton Stracke Praises Erika Jayne Amidst Kyle & Dorit’s Reunion Tensions

Sutton Stracke, a well-known figure from the popular reality series Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, recently expressed her admiration for fellow cast member Erika Jayne while hinting at what fans can expect from the upcoming RHOBH reunion. In her latest interviews, Sutton shared insights into how her relationship with Erika has evolved over time.

Historically, Sutton and Erika have not always been on the best of terms. In past seasons, the two often found themselves at odds, leading to some memorable conflicts on the show. However, both stars have made significant efforts to mend their relationship, and it seems to be paying off.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Sutton revealed, “Erika and I didn’t part on the best note at the end of our [season 14] reunion. I was uncertain about how things would proceed. But we approached each other with caution and a willingness to build a friendship. It has been rewarding.”

Sutton went on to explain the positive turn their relationship has taken. “We’ve really grown to understand one another and enjoy spending time together. Erika is intelligent and has proven to be a genuinely good friend. Discovering this side of her has been a delightful surprise for me, and it’s been a truly joyful experience.”

“We really got to know each other well. We enjoy each other’s company and that’s been really fun. She’s smart and she’s actually a really good friend. I’ve loved getting to know that side of her. It’s been really nice. So that was a big surprise for me, but also a really joyful one.”

Sutton also admitted that, before the currently airing 15th season began, she reflected on some ways she needed to change.

“After last season and kind of that abrupt end, I needed to take a break and reset a lot of things,” she revealed. “I had to go back to my roots and just focus on that. I wanted to celebrate my children… I was getting ready for this next era of my life. I knew that I needed to go into it without being so reactionary and so prickly.”

Sutton also addressed the upcoming RHOBH reunion in a conversation with US Weekly.

While she noted there were “some resolutions,” Sutton revealed she was “not in the hot seat this year.”

“That was kind of fun, to not be so stressed out for the reunion,” she explained.

As for who was under the gun, Sutton admitted it was Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley due to the former friends continuing to feud.

“Well, they made it out alive,” Sutton noted. “Like, everybody that’s been watching this show, it’s been hard for me to watch their relationship. It’s never fun to watch anybody’s relationship go through this.”

Newbie Amanda Frances, who has been widely scrutinized by fans and the other Housewives, was also in the hot seat, according to Sutton.

“I found her kind of grating at times, and I think she needed to sort of understand how to speak to all of us,” Sutton claimed. “What we thought was important, she didn’t think was important. We didn’t care about the labels. We didn’t care about her business. We really, really wanted to know her. And I think there was some takeaway there, because she’s actually a good girl.”

Regardless of Sutton not being in the hot seat, she did cop to participating a ton in the reunion.

“I was chiming in. I think because I wasn’t in the hot seat, I wasn’t as nervous,” she said. “I think all season, I’ve just been just relaxed, and I’m just in a different place. I’m like, ‘OK, well, let’s talk about it in a very calm manner.’”

She also reflected on her season as a whole, sharing, “I think I proved to myself that if you take your time, if you listen first, take a breath and then speak smartly, and say what you need to say, instead of being reactionary, it really does work most of the time. It’s not fail-proof. I mean, I had mistakes, of course. I’m human, but I think I made some strides, and that I am continuing to work on.”

Ben Shephard Shares Rare Glimpse Into His Private Marriage: The Secret Behind Their Strong Bond

0

Known for his polished demeanor on This Morning, Ben Shephard is stepping into a more adventurous role as he takes the helm of a thrilling new game show. Beneath his polished exterior, there’s a thrill-seeker eager for fresh challenges.

At 51, Shephard continues to impress with his commitment to fitness, even gracing the cover of a health magazine last year, proudly displaying his toned physique. Now, he is ready to embrace a new persona as he brings The Summit to television screens. This daring show, set against the stunning backdrop of New Zealand, tasks contestants with the formidable challenge of mountain climbing.

“Adventure is something I truly cherish,” Shephard shares. “I’ve had the opportunity to climb a few mountains and have a good grasp of what it entails.”

He fondly recalls his youthful travels to New Zealand, a place that captured his heart. “Filming in the Southern Alps was an incredible experience,” he adds, showcasing his enthusiasm for the unique setting of the show.

‘I fell in love with New Zealand when I went travelling as a teenager, so to film this in the Southern Alps there was amazing.

‘Essentially, we’ve set an adventure reality show in the epic backdrop for The Lord Of The Rings movies.’

None of the 14 contestants who start out have any experience of mountaineering.

‘There’s a landlady from Northampton, a female steel worker from Port Talbot, a tour guide from London, an ordained minister. Such an extraordinary melting pot of people from different backgrounds,’ says Ben.

And they start falling out in episode one. ‘The physical endeavour is so full on, really early on, that people’s patience wears thin very quickly,’ he adds.

They are set jaw-dropping physical challenges every day, even as the climb gets tougher.

‘By day three there’s snow. They’re using ice picks. They’re going across a glacier,’ Ben says.

Then the tension soars as night falls, the temperature drops below freezing and the group has to vote on who to send home: ‘They need to work as a team to get to the top, so if someone is not pulling their weight, it is apparent very quickly.’

The contestants each carry their cut of the £200,000 cash prize in their rucksacks, which will be shared with those who reach the top, but every time someone quits the prize gets smaller.

A few days into the climb there’s a moment when one of the group says they can’t go on – and while some offer comfort, another is more focused on the prize fund and tries to convince them to stay, saying, ‘There goes £14,000.’

The strong ones can try to have anyone they see as a threat voted off, which leads to some shocking decisions. And huge rows, like when a priest with a secret past and a manipulative ex-soldier square up to each other.

‘I had to defuse a very febrile situation,’ says Ben, who looks like he can take care of himself. ‘It was incendiary at times.’

Is this The Traitors Extreme? ‘Well,’ he says, laughing, ‘I tell you what, Claudia’s fingerless gloves wouldn’t cut it on that mountain.’

Doctors and expert climbers were on hand during filming, but was the danger real?

Ben says: ‘There was genuine jeopardy. On an eye-wateringly high, sheer cliffside, one of our contestants injured themselves climbing a rope ladder. At moments like that, you realise how easy it is for something to go wrong.’

He’s happy talking about it now, in a warm cafe near This Morning’s studios in London’s Covent Garden, but how would he do as a contestant?

‘I’m a bit of a daredevil, but I’m not sure I could have brought myself to do what they had to do at times,’ he adds.

Ben looks in good shape, in his quarter-zip fleece and jeans, but that’s no surprise. He’s a fitness fanatic who posed half-naked on the cover of Men’s Health in 2012, then trained hard to repeat the feat last year to mark his 50th birthday.

He also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with Fearne Cotton and other stars for Comic Relief in 2009.

‘That was the most dangerous thing I’ve ever done because there were a number of occasions where people got into real trouble. Fearne had a real problem at one point, but that girl’s strength and grit are amazing,’ continues Ben.

‘The head of our team had to go off from us and save somebody’s life and take them down. That’s the reality of that mountain, you can get it very wrong. But the biggest physical challenge of my life was probably the World’s Toughest Mudder.’

Ben’s referring to the gruelling endurance race at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire that he did with his sons Sam, 20, and Jack, 19, and his godson Ben last year.

‘We were doing a five-mile loop with obstacles including mud, water and fire that you kept repeating as a relay over 24 hours. That was pretty dangerous, in terms of what we were putting ourselves through. But to do it with my boys and my godson was amazing,’ he adds.

Ben was born in Epping, Essex, and his parents David and Jo still live in a village nearby. He went to the private Chigwell School, but protests against being called posh.

‘Mum and Dad both came from working-class backgrounds. Mum lost her father when she was seven, he drowned trying to save her sister in a river. They grew up on one income, with very little,’ says Ben.

‘Annie was with me way before I got into telly,’ he says of his wife (pictured) adding: ‘She has been through everything with me, the highs and lows’

‘Annie was with me way before I got into telly,’ he says of his wife (pictured) adding: ‘She has been through everything with me, the highs and lows’

‘My dad left school with no qualifications, but put himself through night school to become an accountant. He got up at six, went off to the City, came back at eight and worked again.

‘Mum did nights as a nurse and midwife, got an hour’s sleep then lectured during the day. They passed on their work ethic.’

Ben raised money for a gap year with shifts in a freight warehouse: ‘They were filming The Crystal Maze next door. I was within touching distance of a really awesome entertainment adventure show and I just kept thinking, “That’s what I want to do.”’

At Birmingham University he studied dance and drama and met Annie, his future wife: ‘We were both 21 and students there when we met at my best friend’s birthday party.’

He wanted to be an actor, became a runner at a TV company and was spotted by a producer as a potential host.

‘Annie was with me way before I got into telly,’ he says. ‘She has been through everything with me, the highs and lows.’

The many shows he has hosted include The Krypton Factor, Ninja Warrior and One Night Only specials with Rod Stewart and Phil Collins: ‘Is The Summit the edgiest telly I’ve ever done? I once hosted Am I Good In Bed? with Penny Smith. That was quite edgy!’

Tipping Point is his biggest stand-alone hit, a quiz show launched in 2012 that’s still going strong. Ben and Cat Deeley took over as the main presenters on This Morning two years ago.

‘I love working with Cat,’ he says. ‘We’re from similar families. We’ll often say the same thing at the same time.’

How have he and Annie stayed together so long, in an industry where marriages often fail? ‘She’s exceptionally patient. And I’m very patient with new shoes,’ he jokes. ‘What I really think is that we were great mates when we got together.’

His wife stays well clear of showbusiness. ‘Annie has been brilliant at allowing me the space to go off and do the job I do,’ Ben says.

Isn’t that isolating? ‘Not really. There are always people around. We had a fantastic time as a production team making The Summit, you’re on top of each other then it’s over and you’re going home.

‘Annie is much more solitary than me. She’s much happier in her own company. Half the time she’s like, “I need a bit of space. Can you leave me alone for five seconds, please?”’

There is gratitude, rather than offence, in his voice, though. ‘She’s been the most important factor in our lives as a family; this amazing influence who created the home for our boys to become who they are and certainly made me better at being a dad.

‘Jack’s working as a teaching assistant before travelling. Sam’s studying maths at university and having a ball. I’m super-excited for both, but God I miss them.

‘They make such a mess and eat everything when they’re in the house, but when they’re not there you go, “Oh, what are we going to talk about now?”’

So Ben and Annie are empty-nesters? ‘It’s imminent. Having been surrounded by boys, their mates and girls for a very long time, it’s going to be quieter. It is already.’

Some couples in their position find it a challenge to work out a new way of being together. ‘I’m up for that, definitely, because I love a challenge. I think I’m more of a challenge than she is, to be honest. But both of us feel like this next stage is really exciting. The lovely thing is, the boys are not far away.

‘We do live quite separate lives. I’m off working, she has her job, which is garden and interior design. If I’ve got spare time I want to do something physical: play golf, go for a run, go to the gym, see some football or rugby.

‘She wants to go to an art gallery or see a garden. It’s about finding things that work for both of us – but as I say, that feels really exciting.’

Physical exercise is a major part of Ben’s life. ‘If I haven’t had a chance to exercise, Annie will say, “For God’s sake, get your trainers on and go for a run. Please just go and burn off some of the energy.”’

Is Annie as much into fitness as him? ‘She loves yoga and a bit of stretching, she loves playing tennis and horse riding. The idea of her standing on a treadmill? That’s never going to happen.’

They do have a gym at their house in south-west London, where Ben works out with a personal trainer.

‘It’s my meditation, my therapy. I’m also running the marathon this year. I thought my marathon days were over because my back is bad. Like most people after 50, there are torn discs, bulging discs, discs with holes in, wear and tear. So I also do Pilates.’

Plus, he’s off the booze. ‘I had a very wet December, so I’m having a dry January. I’m the sort of person who likes control over the choices I make.

‘Professionally, if people want me at the studio I have to be there. The things I can control are how fit and healthy I am, what I consume and how.

‘I enjoy eating healthily. That doesn’t mean I won’t have a greasy fry-up on the weekend with the boys and Annie, but otherwise it’s porridge or granola for breakfast. Lunch is chicken salad or salmon and broccoli.

‘I’m not much of a foodie. In the evening I will have what Annie and the boys are having. Annie does most of the cooking because she’s brilliant at it.’

As a charming presence on the telly, he must have a lot of admirers. How do they cope? ‘That’s really lovely of you to say, but it’s not my experience.’

His most famous fan is Mary Taylor, a character on Coronation Street who’s obsessed with him. ‘My Great-Auntie Jan, who’s 83, phones me up to say, “You’re on Corrie again, Mary’s been talking about you.”

‘But that’s the closest I get to understanding what it might be like to be an international sex symbol like Robbie Williams, because there’s literally nothing else like that in my day-to-day life.’

Why is he so intent on keeping fit, if it’s not for the adoration? ‘So that, if I’m lucky enough to be a grandfather, I’ll be able to kick a football around with my grandchildren.

‘I want to play golf with my boys and still beat them when I’m old. The Christmas before last we all played golf and Dad won the family tournament aged 80. That’s inspiring. What I’m doing is about emulating that.’

So that’s why he keeps pushing himself with events like the World’s Toughest Mudder. ‘Sam and I were running together in the early hours of the morning and he said, “Why are you laughing?”

‘I said, “Because no one ever wanted to do this stupid stuff with me. I had to have my own boys to make them do it.”

‘He thought that was hilarious, but I was in tears. Watching him, Jack and my godson Ben pick up the challenge and not let it beat them was really emotional.’

The boys want to do it again this year. ‘You prove so much to yourself,’ says Ben, who could be talking about The Summit here as much as his own life.

‘If you really put your mind to something and surround yourself with the people you want to be with, who believe in you – and you believe in them – then you can do anything.’

The Summit starts 10-11 February at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Trump’s Fiery Rant Targets Trusted Allies in Unexpected Turn

0

Donald Trump unleashed a lengthy tirade of nearly 500 words, criticizing several of his top supporters from the conservative media landscape due to their disapproval of his aggressive stance on Iran.

Prominent figures like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, and Alex Jones have distanced themselves from the President’s strategy since the initiation of Operation Epic Fury.

In a post on Truth Social this past Thursday, Trump castigated his erstwhile allies as ‘low IQ…stupid people’ and labeled them as ‘NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS.’

Trump stated, ‘I understand why they have consistently opposed me, mainly because they seem to believe it’s acceptable for Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, to develop a nuclear weapon. It’s all due to one common trait: Low IQs.’

He further commented, ‘They’re foolish, and it’s apparent to them, their families, and everyone else around them!’

The four right-wing pundits claim Trump was misled into launching the war under pressure from Israel and that the President abandoned his ‘America First’ campaign promises. Trump’s explosive tirade comes as he faces fresh scrutiny over his two-week ceasefire with Iran.

The President highlighted some of the most glaring embarrassments tied to each of the right-wing influencers, including mocking Owens for claiming that France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, is a man.

‘”Crazy” Candace Owens, who accuses the Highly Respected First Lady of France of being a man, when she is not, and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit,’ Trump wrote. ‘Actually, to me, the First Lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace, in fact, it’s not even close!’

The President then highlights some of the most glaring embarrassments tied to each of the right-wing influencers, including mocking Owens for claiming that France ’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, is a man

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson

Right-wing influencer Candace Owens

Donald Trump issued a nearly 500-word rant ripping into his most influential advocates in conservative media over their opposition to his war with Iran .

Owens falsely claimed Macron was a born named ‘Jean-Michel Trogneux’.

Macron sued Owens for defamation in July.

Trump then went after Jones over his notorious conspiracy theory that the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting was staged.

Those claims ultimately resulted in roughly $1.5 billion in defamation judgments against Jones, awarded to the victims’ families across multiple lawsuits.

‘Bankrupt Alex Jones, who says some of the dumbest things, and lost his entire fortune, as he should have, for his horrendous attack on the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, ridiculously claiming it was a hoax,’ Trump continued.

Trump also falsely claimed Carlson never finished college, adding that he was a ‘broken man’ after being fired from Fox News: ‘He’s never been the same – perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist!’

He wraps his rant by claiming all four right-wing stars are ‘losers’ and do not represent the MAGA movement.

‘As President, I could get them on my side anytime I want to, but when they call, I don’t return their calls because I’m too busy on World and Country Affairs and, after a few times, they go “nasty.”‘

‘MAGA is about MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and these people have no idea how to do that, BUT I DO,’ Trump added.

Carlson and Kelly famously campaigned for Trump during the 2024 election.

The former Fox News hosts, as well as Owens and Jones, command some of the largest media audiences in the country.

Unfulfilled Promises: The Truth Behind Mamdani’s Free NYC Bus Initiative

0

One undeniable truth about socialism is its consistent record of failure. Faced with a choice between enduring a socialist regime or suffering from an abscessed tooth, most would opt for the dental pain; after all, a tooth can be easily extracted and healed. However, removing socialists from power tends to be far more challenging.

Consider the recent scenario in New York, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his administration had to retract a significant campaign promise: offering free city bus rides. This initiative turned out to be an unrealistic socialist fantasy that couldn’t be materialized.

Surprise, surprise! Could it be that years of socialist municipal governance have driven tax-paying residents out of the city? If Mayor Mamdani is curious about where all the tax dollars have gone, he might want to look towards Florida. Governor DeSantis might not offer much help, but he certainly could find amusement in the situation.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash online after admitting that his campaign pledge to make city buses free is hitting funding roadblocks.

You don’t say! Could the fact that decades of communist municipal government have driven most of the people who actually pay taxes out of the city? If you’re wondering where all that tax revenue went, Mr. Mayor, best look to Florida, not that Governor DeSantis will do anything but point and laugh at you – or at least, he should.

Tigers’ Parker Meadows Injured in On-Field Collision with Riley Greene

0

A frightening incident unfolded at Minnesota’s Target Field on Thursday when two Tigers outfielders collided, resulting in one being injured and removed from the field. The dramatic moment occurred when Riley Greene and Parker Meadows both aggressively pursued a fly ball hit by Twins’ power hitter Josh Bell during the bottom of the eighth inning of a 1-1 deadlock.

Meadows, sprinting from center field, couldn’t halt his advance and crashed into Greene, who had successfully caught the ball. The impact left Greene briefly kneeling, while Meadows fell onto his back, remaining motionless for several tense minutes as concern mounted.

Team medical staff, including athletic trainer Ryne Eubanks, along with Greene, rushed to Meadows’ aid. The alarming scene was underscored by a visible stream of blood on Meadows’ left cheek, indicating the severity of the collision.

Greene briefly fell to one knee, but Meadows collapsed to the grass on his back and stayed on the ground for several minutes as Greene and the medical staff, including athletic trainer Ryne Eubanks, checked on him.

A streak of blood could be seen down Meadows’ left cheek.

Meadows, 26, remained on his back for several minutes before he sat up and was assisted into a golf cart, appearing dazed after the collision.

Meadows had gone 0-for-3 in three plate appearances before the injury.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Meadows would remain at a Minneapolis hospital overnight and revealed that he bit his lip during the collision, per MLB.com.

“Obviously we’re going to get him checked out for everything, but this one worries me,” Hinch said.

Veteran Javier Báez moved from shortstop to center field in the wake of Meadows’ injury, while prized rookie Kevin McGonigle entered the game at shortstop.

Later in the eighth inning, Twins shortstop Brooks Lee delivered a go-ahead two-run single as the Twins defeated the Tigers 3-1.

Tragic Crime in Roseland: Kevan Works Charged in Shocking Murder of 88-Year-Old Woman on South Lafayette Avenue

0

An unsettling tragedy unfolded this week on Chicago’s South Side, where an elderly woman was discovered dead, leading to charges against her son.

Kevan Works, aged 66, faces serious charges including first-degree murder and concealing a death, according to Chicago police. The victim, identified as his 88-year-old mother, had been reported missing roughly two weeks before her body was found.

The grim discovery took place on Tuesday at a residence along the 10700 block of South Lafayette Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood. Following the discovery, authorities swiftly arrested Kevan Works at the scene.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

The suspect’s brother confirmed to ABC7 that the victim was indeed their mother, shedding light on a heartbreaking family tragedy. As the community grapples with this shocking event, questions remain about the circumstances leading to the elderly woman’s death.

This case, marked by its disturbing nature, has left a somber mark on the community, as investigators continue to piece together the details surrounding this tragic incident.

“Is Kevan capable of killing her? Yes,” Michael Works said. “Did I believe he did it? I don’t know.”

Michael Works doesn’t want to believe his missing mother Daniest Graves has been found dead after allegedly being murdered by his own brother.

Michael Works says his brother has a temper and had been to prison, but had turned his life around, even writing a book and owning his own digital company.

“Is it in him… to do it?” Michael Works said. “Well, we have ever imagined him to touch our mother, no.”

Investigators told Michael Works his mother’s body was found wrapped in a sheet and a rug in the basement of her own Roseland home.

Relatives say Kevan Works had lived there with his mother for the last few months. No motive for the murder was given, as some nearby residents have been left shaken by the violence.

“Put it like this, I’m just really shocked because they said she might of dead,” one neighborhood resident said.

Graves’ family says she was reported missing after she was last seen on March 27. Her gray 2021 Ford Echo with Illinois plates was found on Chicago’s West Side.

Thursday afternoon, as her family grieves, Daniest Graves is being remembered as a church going woman who loved helping people. She received her college degree in her 80s and had just started a part time job working with the community so she could stay busy.

“It crushes you, but she’ll live on as long as you remember for the good that she did and she was true to heart and anybody who knows her will say it in a minute,” Michael Works said.

Chicago police continue to investigate.

“When your dad successfully pilots Artemis II halfway to the moon… & you forget the dance,” Maya Glover humorously captioned her Instagram post.

The video amassed a staggering 21.9 million views on TikTok and Instagram as of Thursday afternoon, with companies including Walmart and Spotify weighing in on her parent’s impressive feat.

In a tragic incident, a New Jersey father working as a delivery driver lost his life when a teenager allegedly attempted to steal his vehicle.

Jhon Aponte Alarcon, aged 46, succumbed to his injuries on April 4 after a car accident in Newark, New Jersey. As per the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Alarcon was in the midst of a delivery at 12:45 p.m., leaving his car running on the street while he delivered a package. Seizing the opportunity, a teenage suspect reportedly entered the vehicle and began to drive away.

Alarcon quickly pursued his car, clinging to it as the suspect continued driving. The situation turned dire when the suspect collided with a parked car, causing Alarcon’s vehicle to overturn, fatally injuring the father of three.

Authorities reported that the suspect fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended on Tuesday and now faces charges including first-degree murder, carjacking, vehicular homicide, fleeing an accident scene resulting in death, endangering an injured victim, and vehicle theft. His identity remains undisclosed due to his minor status.

Debyd Aponte, one of Alarcon’s sons, shared with WNBC, an NBC affiliate based in New York, about the profound impact of their father’s tragic death. Initially, the family was only informed that Alarcon had been involved in a car accident, without knowing the full circumstances surrounding his death.

Aponte told WNBC, “It’s been really difficult. My dad was a hard-working man, he wasn’t doing anything bad. He was working, trying to provide for us, when this [tragedy] happens.”

On a GoFundMe page started to raise money for funeral expenses, Alarcon’s son wrote, “This has completely shattered our world. One moment he was here, and the next he was gone. Nothing could have prepared us for this kind of pain.”

Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II encouraged anyone with more information about the case to call their tip line: 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
