A: You’re getting a playmaker, you’re getting somebody to make an impact on your team, and on the field and off the field a great person to be in the community. Somebody to make an immediate impact on your defense, making plays wherever you put him at. Wherever you believe the ball’s going on defense, that’s the play that he’s gonna make.
Q: What makes you a playmaker?
A: I would just say my knack for the game. I feel like the instincts God has given can’t really be replaced, and I can’t really take credit for that, honestly. He’s given me the ability to have a feeling for the game, and then know where the ball’s gonna be, and to know the plays that I have made to feel confident in making them.
Q: How would you describe your on-field mentality?
A: I would just say a leader, honestly. Somebody that’s looking to be a leader on the team, somebody that’s looking to win every game, and try to push my team to win every game. But every time I step on the field I’m trying to make plays, I’m trying to impact the game, that’s what I try to do every time I step on the field.
Q: What are your thoughts on positional value?
A: I think it’s who affects the game. If your safety’s affecting the game, if your corner’s affecting the game, that’s who you’re trying to push the ball to, that’s who you’re trusting to make the plays. And I feel like I do that at a high level, and if you give me an opportunity to make plays that’s what I’m gonna do.
Q: Do you have a favorite spot in the secondary?
A: I just like being around the ball.
Q: How much do you enjoy blitzing?
A: I love it (laugh). I mean, who doesn’t love having a chance to go get a sack?
Q: What makes you an effective blitzer?
A: Being able to read the snap count, being able to jump that and then also having a chance to beat the back and do everything like that, one-on-one.
Q: What drives you?
A: I feel like I’m blessed to play. God has blessed me with a lot of talent, a lot of ability, and who would I be not to use the ability He’s given me?
Q: What is the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome?
A: Any perfectionist, anybody that wants to succeed at a high level in everything they do, expectations are always gonna be the thing that they have to deal with. So for me it’s dealing with the expectation of trying to be the best, trying to push myself to be great … being hard on myself and setting a higher standard than anybody could ever set for me in myself.
Q: You’re known as a great leader. What won’t you tolerate from a teammate?
A: Just a lack of meeting a standard. There’s a standard that the team has set, and we’ve agreed on, and you failing to meet it. That had to be spoken and that has to be said. That has to be corrected.
Q: Can a rookie be a leader?
A: It’s not just being a leader but it’s just having the respect of your teammates, then having the respect of the people that you’re around. I feel like if you have the respect of everybody that you’re around and you’ve grown in that and have a relationship with everybody, yeah I feel like I can.
Q: What is the best example of your toughness?
A: I feel like everybody has an example of that, with just playing through anything you’re going through that week, honestly. … Playing through injuries that may pop up during the season, playing through the nicks and bruises. That’s what I do, and not make any excuses about it and just go out and play the game. At the end of the day, once you step on the field, it’s about making plays, it’s not about what’s happened before, what injuries you have, it’s just about making plays.
Q: Best example of your will to win?
A: I would just say my freshman year. … It’s really rare for somebody to go into Alabama and start on that defense their freshman year with Coach [Nick] Saban’s defense. A lot of people who were around me didn’t really think that was something that was applicable or something that could happen. But for me that was just what I wanted to do, and it really didn’t matter about what anybody else thought, it was about me making the choices that would lead me to make an impact on the field whenever I had a chance to. So that was the most important thing for me is just having the will to do what I needed to do to put myself on the field.
Q: Describe Coach Saban.
A: The definition of consistency. Just not getting bored with the details. He’s the most consistent person I know, and being around him for that year was such a positive for my life just getting to learn from somebody that achieved at the best levels.
Q: Was there ever a time you were not prepared for a game?
A: I would say everybody has plays that they say like, “Yeah I could have prepared better for that play.” But for an entire game, no.
Q: How much film study per night do you put in during the week?
A: It’s just throughout the day, honestly. So like I would come in and watch film in the morning at the facility, and then would come in before practice again and watch more film, then watch the film after practice and then watch like two or three games. Between that whether I’m going to class, whether I’m doing some treatment, just watch film whenever you have time to do it, and that’s pretty much continuously throughout the day.
Q: Some great safeties over the years: Ed Reed.
A: Extremely efficient player, made a lot of plays in the post in the deep part of the field. One of the most profound safeties with a knack for the football. Could get the football at any point in the season and made a lot of plays.
Q: Troy Polamalu.
A: Probably the most instinctual safety in terms of just making plays everywhere on the field — in the box, in the lower part of the zones, in the deeper part of the zones. Being able to do it all as a safety, and then just playing free, just played with reckless abandon and no care in the world.
Q: Do you think you’re similar to one more than the other?
A: I feel like I’m a true three-way player in terms of making plays at every facet. I feel like Troy in terms of being instinctual and making plays at all levels of the field.
Q: Charles Woodson.
A: I feel like he’s one of the most instinctual DBs ever, not just safeties — being able to play corner, being able to play nickel, and then transfer to safety later in his years in the league, and to be able to do it as long as he did. When I met him after we played Michigan this year, that was one of the highlights of my year just meeting him and showing the respect that I did to him.
Q: Ronnie Lott.
A: He’s a menacing force, posed a lot of fear to the offense. He also played corner and then transformed into a safety, so that showed a lot of his athleticism and abilities on the field. I feel like he was a true leader of his team as well … being able to lead his team and create that fear that is needed on a defense, from that mentality that’s needed, I feel like he did that at a high level, and then also made a lot of plays on the ball in the tackling game whether that was in the box or in the open field, he did that at the highest level.
Q: How did you know he transferred from corner?
A: I’ve tried to study the greats as much as possible.
Q: How long have you been studying the greats?
A: Probably since my sophomore year.
Q: Sophomore year in college?
A: High school.
Q: Brian Dawkins.
A: Very spiritual leader. He led with his emotions, led with his spirit. I respect that a lot ’cause that’s how I would want to be as a player. Played with so much passion and energy for the game and you can see the love of the game that he has from how he walks and the emotion that he plays with.
Q: Kyle Hamilton.
A: Freak of nature (laugh). The size that he has, the ability to play multiple positions, that’s really special and it’s not been seen anytime recently. He set the precedent for a lot of guys that are coming after.
Q: Some have compared you to Budda Baker.
A: Reckless abandon just like Troy. Able to put his foot in the ground and go make a play. Play with no care in the world, just playing fast. Even with I trained with him one time, it was how fast he trains, how violent he did everything. I respected that a lot, and you could see it in his game and how hard he plays, and how relentless he plays.
Q: Some of your Ohio State teammates: Arvell Reese.
A: He plays with violent hands, violent intent every play. I feel like you can see it in his film how violent he is, and that’s a part of defense, so I feel like he did that at a high level.
Q: Could he be a double-digit sacker?
A: Only time will tell, but I think he definitely has the ability and the talent of do it.
Q: Sonny Styles.
A: Freak athlete, just like Arvell. Plays with a lot of violence. Is able to see the game and communicate the game at a high level as well as be able to run your defense. True Mike linebacker with the ability to rush and the ability to add into your rush as much as you want him to. Also very versatile in your zones and wherever you want him to be.
Q: Kayden McDonald.
A: He was huge for us this year being strong in the middle … not just take on blocks but be able to shed blocks and make plays.
Q: Carnell Tate.
A: Smooth, silky route runner. Very calm in what he does, and he’s also a very physical blocker on the edge as well, that added a lot for us on our offense. Being able to watch him block this year and take on some of the dirty work, it was awesome to see, but also when the ball’s in the air he’s a playmaker.
Q: Jeremiah Smith.
A: Freak Frank athlete. Freak of nature (laugh). But he also matches it with the mindset and the work ethic to be an all-time great.
Q: What would you tell GMs next year about QB Julian Sayin?
A: Be able to run your offense, great leader. He’s himself, he’s not trying to be anybody that he’s not. He has a really quick release, really good arm, and then he’s able to see the game at a high level to where he’s anticipating and not reacting.
Q: Matt Patricia.
A: Great person, cares a lot about his players off the field and on the field. I can’t say enough about him honestly.
Q: Max Klare.
A: Very good route runner with routes like a receiver. Ability to be your extra receiver when you need him to be but also block at a high level as well.
Q: You would hammer your brother Josh over the middle when you get to play against him?
A: At that point, if he’s on the other side of the field, he’s just another player, so he’d have to get it.
Q: Do you hope to return punts in the pros?
A: If the opportunity comes about, it’d be awesome.
Q: What do you like about returning punts?
A: Just the ability to have the ball in my hands, the ability to run it. I feel like whenever I have the ball in my hands that’s something special, and I usually do good things with it.

A: Everybody misses the days where they had the ball in their hands (laugh).
Q: What are your initial impressions of John Harbaugh?
A: He’s a legend, honestly. Great to talk to, great person to learn from, so excited to see where that relationship goes.
Q: What would it be like playing on the New York stage?
A: It would just be the same thing as I’ve been doing. I played at two premier programs with college football. It’ll be another step for me to play at a high level and be able to push myself in terms of being my best self.

A: I know about the old defense with Michael Strahan and then Lawrence Taylor, a lot of the greats that have played there.
Q: If you could cover any tight end in NFL history, who would it be?
A: That’s a good question. Just ’cause I’m from Atlanta, I would say Tony Gonzalez.
Q: If you could intercept any quarterback in NFL history?
A: Tom Brady.
Q: If you could tackle any running back in NFL history in the open field?
A: I feel like the most difficult person to tackle in the open field would be Barry Sanders. That would be a challenge.
Q: Describe the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.
A: It’s the game, but at the end of the day you have to play like another game and just a regular game, because whenever you try too much into one game, it ends up turning into being too much and it doesn’t allow you to play as free as you need to be. But that game is everything to the people from Ohio State, and everything for the fans and everything like that. Whoever wins that has bragging rights for fur the next year, so finally got on the right side of that (laugh), so I’m very proud of that.
Q: The game you lost to them in 2024 you had 11 tackles.
A: I feel like every time I played against ’em I played a really good game. My freshman year at Alabama I played a really good game.
Q: You like big games?
A: If you actually look at stats of me playing against the best competition, I feel like my stats get better based off of that.

Mayor Brandon Johnson has taken a decisive step by demoting Matthew Brewer, the sitting chairman of the CHA Board, marking a significant shift in the ongoing tug-of-war over selecting the next CEO.

Earlier this year, the CHA Board embarked on an exhaustive search for a new CEO, culminating in an announcement at their March gathering. However, the individual they chose was not aligned with Mayor Johnson’s preferences, as he had hoped to install a political ally in the role. In response, the mayor is now maneuvering to assert his influence.
Matthew Brewer, who serves as the CHA’s Operating Chairman, voiced his objections during a session held in the very room where the board recently voted 7-2 to finalize the CEO appointment. He expressed strong opposition to the mayor’s recent actions concerning the agency’s leadership.
Better Government Association President and CEO David Greising joined ABC7 to discuss on Saturday morning.
“It seems he’s attempting to undo the board’s efforts, potentially leaving the CHA in limbo without a CEO, all to install his preferred candidate,” Brewer remarked.
The CHA Board selected Keith Pettigrew to be the next CEO. He’s a veteran public housing executive who most recently led the Washington, D.C. Housing Authority.
That ran afoul of Mayor Johnson’s desire to install his hand-picked political ally, former alderman Walter Burnett Jr., as CEO. The board deemed him unqualified for the job. Burnett, who is a CHA landlord, has not received a required waiver from HUD to be CEO.
“That appointment has been troubled since the very beginning, and it’s clear that the mayor is probably not going to get his way on this and that he should move on,” ABC7 Political Analyst Laura Washington said. “And it’s just curious as to why the mayor wants to continue this fight.”
The mayor’s battle with current CHA leadership includes demoting Brewer as Chairman of the Board, replacing him with his ally commissioner Jawanza Malone. He could not be reached for comment.
The mayor also is challenging Brewer’s authority as Operating Chairman. 14 1:15
“Only the board has the authority to give me that title and those responsibilities, and the mayor doesn’t have the ability to remove that,” Brewer said.
Pettigrew, who was not available for an interview with ABC7, has a clause in his four-year contract that says he can’t be fired in the first year except for cause.
The mayor’s office says Brewer and the board violated the open meeting act, which invalidates Pettrigrew’s hiring. Brewer says Mayor Johnson is putting politics over people.
“Chicago is at a pivotal point, and decisions that we make now can impact us for decades,” Brewer said.
The battle could very well wind up in court. But in the meantime, incoming CEO Keith Pettigrew is expected to start in his new role on April 20.
WASHINGTON – In a decisive move, the Trump administration has annulled the U.S. visas or green cards of at least four individuals linked to the Iranian government, current or former. Among these, two have been apprehended by immigration officials and face deportation.
This week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio ruled that these individuals no longer meet the criteria for lawful permanent residency or entry into the United States. This action mirrors a previous decision made late last year when visas were revoked for several diplomats and staff associated with Iran’s mission to the United Nations.
On Saturday, the State Department announced that the niece and grand-niece of Qassem Soleimani, the former chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps who was killed by a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad in 2020, were detained by immigration authorities after Rubio nullified their green cards.
The department’s statement detailed that “Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter are currently under U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody,” further noting that Afshar’s spouse has been prohibited from entering the U.S.
The statement also disclosed that Afshar and her daughter had been enjoying an opulent lifestyle in Los Angeles for several years while openly endorsing the Iranian regime and its anti-American rhetoric.
She is “an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the “Great Satan,” Rubio said in a post on X. “The Trump administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.”
The Iranian mission to the U.N. had no comment Saturday.
Afshar and her daughter are just the latest Iranians to have their legal status in the U.S. rescinded by Rubio, who recently revoked the visas of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, an academic and the daughter of Iran’s former national security adviser Ali Larijani who was killed in a U.S.-Israel airstrike last month. Her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi, also had his visa revoked, the State Department said. Neither are still in the U.S.
In early December, well before the surge of anti-government protests in Iran and the start of the war, the State Department revoked or declined to renew visas of several Iranian diplomats, including the deputy ambassador, and staffers at Iran’s mission to the United Nations.
The department said Friday that action had been taken on Dec. 4 but declined to comment further “for privacy and security reasons” except to note that it was unrelated to either the protests or the war.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed optimism about new developments in the effort to resolve the ongoing conflict with Russia. This optimism followed a significant discussion with envoys from President Donald Trump, highlighting advancements towards a security agreement backed by the U.S.
Zelenskyy shared on X that he had a productive dialogue with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as well as Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The main focus of these talks was to establish a “dignified peace” for Ukraine.
“We have agreed to bolster security assurances, and I have instructed our team to swiftly update the necessary documents. This will ensure that Ukraine’s security guarantees are robust, the prospects for rebuilding after the war are tangible, and that the plans are feasible,” Zelenskyy stated.

In a subsequent video, Zelenskyy reported Russia launched a massive wave of more than 700 drones Wednesday, including “shaheds,” targeting Ukraine’s energy sites, food warehouses and residential buildings across multiple regions.

A Wisconsin man is facing charges after allegedly threatening to kill his parents and engaging in a tense 14-hour standoff with police, during which he is said to have declared he “would kill everyone.”
Vance Lee, aged 33, is charged with several offenses, including resisting an officer’s attempt to take him into custody, disorderly conduct, endangerment by using a dangerous weapon, and ten counts of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, as per jail records reviewed by Law&Crime.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by local Fox affiliate WITI, the incident unfolded on March 27 and 28 at Lee’s parents’ residence near 68th Street and West Brentwood Avenue in Milwaukee. Lee allegedly threatened his parents, brandishing a rifle and handgun as he descended the stairs and threatened to shoot them.
At one point, Lee reportedly called his brother, ominously stating, “We are all dying today.”
Authorities have reported that Lee’s parents confined themselves to their bedroom out of fear for their safety. They recounted to police that Lee had warned he “would kill everyone” and planned to hide in the basement, ready for any police arrival.
The parents made clear that they loved their son but could not handle his threats, the court document added.
On March 28, at about 8:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the home. Though law enforcement demanded that Lee exit, he allegedly would not come out, barricaded the home, and even used a shotgun to shoot down a drone from the house’s second floor.
The standoff continued into the night, and photos from the area TV station showed authorities deploying tear gas into the residence and parking at least one armored vehicle outside.
About 14 hours after the standoff began, at approximately 10:20 p.m. that night, Lee surrendered. Authorities reportedly found inside the home a shotgun, four rifles, five handguns, body armor, and 800 rounds of ammunition.
Lee allegedly admitted to drinking and smoking meth in the recent past. He was booked into jail and ordered to be held on $50,000 bond.
The defendant is set to appear in court on April 7.
The tragic accident unfolded with brutal intensity as a BMW M4 reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph before flipping over and erupting into flames. The incident left little hope for survival for one of its occupants.
In a heartbreaking turn, Tessa Walker, an 18-year-old high school senior known for her promising future, lost her life at the scene of the accident on March 22 in Platte City, Missouri.
Behind the wheel was 18-year-old Om Patel, alongside three other passengers, all of whom managed to survive despite sustaining injuries. The aftermath of the crash has left a community in mourning.
Following the incident, Patel was taken into custody but has since been released as the Platte County Sheriff’s Office continues its thorough investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection to the accident.

Last March, one of Om’s friends shared a photo on Instagram of him posing in front of the menacing-looking, gunmetal gray BMW in a damp parking lot at night.
Motoring experts warn that cars like the M4 should only be handled by highly-experienced drivers, making it a particularly worrying choice for a teenager with little time spent behind the wheel.
Disturbingly, the Daily Mail has discovered that Om was known to law enforcement for driving too fast prior to the accident that killed Walker.
He was issued a ticket for speeding by over 20 to 25mph and pled guilty in court in June 2025, less than a year before the smash that took his friend’s life.
Om was further cited for an undisclosed moving violation in August 2025. The outcome of that case was not made publicly available.
Driving too fast seemingly runs in the family, with father Amarkumar Patel – a successful contractor and hotelier – cited for speeding in 2019 and 2020.
He pled guilty in both cases.

The couple appear to have passed their impressive work ethic onto their children, with Om working as a crew member at a local frozen custard shop. Rudra runs his own buy-and-hold real estate investing company.

Besides the showplace home and expensive cars, the family have enjoyed trips to exotic destinations including Hawaii and the Caribbean.

Now Drew, who works as a tattooist, must grapple with the avoidable tragedy that killed his daughter.

Platte County Sheriff’s Office say they plan to turn their investigation findings over to the county prosecutor for consideration of criminal charges.
Patel could be charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and armed criminal action, criminologist and Arkansas State University Professor Angelo Kevin Brown said.
Because Patel is under the age of 21, he could also be hit with a minor in possession of alcohol, the expert added.
If convicted, Patel could face up to 15 years in prison and lose his license.
Patel and his parents did not respond to the Daily Mail’s request for a comment.

Also joining them on the sofa were her mother, Liann, and sister, Aspen, adding to the family warmth as they smiled at the camera.

Paul’s Easter weekend getaway comes on the heels of Utah police investigating allegations of a third domestic violence incident between her and Mortensen.
A spokesperson for the department told Page Six at the time, “The allegations were reported at the end of February 2026, and detectives have reviewed video believed to have been recorded in early to mid-2024.”
“Investigators are actively working to gather and verify information and are in the process of interviewing those involved. At this time, no charges have been filed, as the investigation remains ongoing.”
Mortensen’s friend reported to police that the social media star was the victim of a domestic violence assault by his ex-girlfriend, whom he dated on and off from 2022 to 2024.
The DadTok member also alleged to authorities that there were “two incidents of physical assault involving grabbing, scratching, shoving, and striking,” the report states.
Mortensen went on to file for a restraining order against Paul, alleging that she choked him last month in the presence of their two-year-old son. He has since been granted temporary custody.
A court hearing, where Paul will be allowed to speak, has been scheduled for April 7. However, “no parent time is allowed” until then, according to the order.
The most recent domestic violence claims have since halted filming of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
However, Paul and Mortensen have been involved in multiple domestic violence incidents over the years.
Earlier this month, a disturbing video from 2023 of Paul attacking Mortensen — while Indy was in the room — was released online.
In the footage, the Utah native tried to kick her now-ex and threw metal barstools at him.
Following the altercation, a police officer called Liann to ask if she could check and make sure her granddaughter did not have any injuries.
In a phone call obtained by TMZ, the cop explained: “There were some other facts about this case that have kind of come out after the fact. It looks like during the altercation, [Indy] got hit in the head with a metal chair.”
The officer pointed out that the young child might have suffered a concussion from the incident.
“I think she looks fine,” Liann responded. “I saw her.”
After checking on Indy for a second time, Paul’s mom assured the officer, “There’s nothing on her. No bumps or anything.”
Meanwhile, after the domestic violence clip surfaced, ABC canceled Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette.”
The television personality’s rep said in a statement at the time that the video “conveniently omits context” and Mortensen’s “never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child.”
Mortensen, meanwhile, denied his ex’s allegations, stating, “I am focusing on our son [Ever] and his safety, and hope that Taylor will do the same.”
