Meet the Man Behind the Fighting Illini’s Strength: Adam Fletcher’s Impact

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WCIA) — At the heart of Illinois basketball’s success is Adam Fletcher, the dedicated strength and conditioning coach who’s been shaping the team for the past 11 years. His role is crucial, focusing on refining players’ physical readiness with a strategic mix of diet and exercise.

Head coach Brad Underwood frequently praises Coach Fletcher, acknowledging the significant impact Fletcher’s work has had on the team’s achievements. His contributions are considered instrumental in the squad’s performance and accolades.

Senator’s Son Linked to Epstein: Business Meeting Raises Questions Amid Ongoing Investigation

0

Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, a Democrat, has been vocal in criticizing the Trump administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. However, recently disclosed documents have brought to light that Wyden’s own son had arranged a business meeting with Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

Seven years after Epstein’s release from a Florida prison, where he served time for soliciting prostitution from a minor, Adam Wyden, who established his private investment firm ADW Capital in 2010, was introduced to the fallen financier. This introduction was facilitated by a mutual acquaintance, Jonathan Farkas.

On April 27, 2016, Farkas reached out to Adam Wyden, stating, “Adam my friend Jeffrey Epstein who manages 5 billion said to call his office he wants to see your record and would consider investing with you.” Further communication from a redacted email address helped coordinate this meeting, as revealed in emails made public by the Justice Department.

The documents indicate that the meeting was set for the next day at 10 a.m. at Epstein’s townhouse on the Upper East Side. Following their encounter, Adam Wyden expressed his enthusiasm in a message to Epstein, highlighting his “passion and dedication for my business” in hopes of securing Epstein as a client.

Wyden gushed in a follow-up message to Epstein after the meeting about his “passion and dedication for my business” while seeking to reel him in as a client.

“I live and breathe this business and take my returns, integrity and reputation quite seriously,” he wrote in the April 2016 message. He also called them “like minded individuals” and said he ‘would very much look forward to having you join us at the fund.” There are no indications Wyden knew about any illegal Epstein activity or that Epstein became a client.

When contacted by The Post, Adam Wyden, 41, said, “No comment – I’m not interested,” and hung up.

Jonathan Farkas turns up separately in an embarrassing 2017 email exchange asking Epstein to tell him whether a woman he was seeing was “a hooker.”

Farkas’ wife Somers is serving currently as the US ambassador to Malta.

Sen. Wyden has made Epstein an issue for the past four years. The top Democrat on the Finance Committee, Wyden in a July floor speech called to “follow the money” to track the “ultra rich well-connected sex trafficker serial rapist.” He wants Treasury to hand over “a big Epstein file that’s full of actionable information” on Epstein’s financial transactions that the agency is holding back.

“I don’t speak to my kids about their business activities,” Sen. Wyden told The Post. “My investigation began four years ago and continues unchanged. I want transparency and accountability across the board.”

“For months Ron Wyden has been telling lies about President Trump, and now we know it’s because he is desperate to cover up that following Epstein’s money leads right back to his family,” said Republican National Committee Spokesperson Nick Poche. He called on Wyden to “come clean right now about how much his family gained financially from Jeffrey Epstein and his connections.”

March Madness Showdown: Can Illinois Upset UConn in the Final Four Clash?

0

INDIANAPOLIS — Illinois head coach Brad Underwood is well aware of the challenges his team has faced against UConn in past meetings.

He doesn’t need a reminder; he can easily revisit the footage of their previous encounters. Last November, UConn maintained control throughout a 74-61 win. Two years prior, during the Elite Eight, the Huskies delivered a stunning 30-0 run, leading to a 77-52 victory as they claimed their second consecutive national title.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

While the Fighting Illini can’t alter history, they are optimistic about changing the narrative when they meet UConn this Saturday for their first Final Four appearance in over 20 years.

“I’ve always said, you have to persistently knock on the door, and eventually, opportunities will arise,” Underwood shared in Indianapolis, reflecting on the 2024 postseason defeat. “We learned a great deal from that match. That team had the potential to reach the Final Four but faced an exceptional opponent in the Elite Eight. We didn’t make it, but we grew by understanding the intensity and what it takes to succeed at that level.”

Armed with these insights, Underwood adjusted his strategy, aiming to lead the Fighting Illini (28-8) to their first Final Four since 2005. After nearly four decades in coaching, Underwood finally sees his efforts bear fruit in this year’s March Madness.

For Illinois, it’s a new experience, too. The Illini last reached the national semifinals during their 2005 runner-up finish. The obstacle again will be getting past UConn (33-5).

But this looks like a very different matchup than this season’s previous meeting with two more physical, more balanced and more experienced teams squaring off.

Huskies coach Dan Hurley has built his reputation on tough players eager to the dirty work and this group is more of the same.

Center Tarris Reed Jr. earned the East Region’s Most Outstanding Player award by scoring 21.7 points and grabbing 13.5 rebounds in tourney wins over Furman, UCLA, Michigan State and Duke- including 31 points and 27 rebounds in Round 1.

Huskies Forward Alex Karaban already holds school records for most games played (149), most wins (125), most starts (148) and most 3-pointers (288) and now needs two more tourney wins to push his March Madness career mark to 19-1. That would send him past Hurley’s brother, Bobby, for second all-time in NCAA tourney wins.

“Defense and rebounding, that’s really been our calling card,” Karaban said as he chases a rare third title. “Every time we’ve had success or won championships, that’s what our calling card has been.”

And, of course, UConn would not be playing at Lucas Oil Stadium without a remarkable 19-point rally and Brayton Mullins’ miraculous 35-foot, 3-pointer to beat top-seeded Duke 73-72 last Sunday. Mullins is now playing just 37 minutes away from his hometown – Greenfield, Indiana.

Hurley, too, is chasing milestones. He needs one victory for career win No. 350, two for his 200th win at UConn, giving him his third national title in four years and the Huskies their seventh crown since 1999.

Just don’t get fooled by what happened in November.

Mullins entered his college debut on a 10-minute restriction because of an early-season injury that forced him to miss UConn’s first six games. Now he’s playing in front of a home-state crowd that will include his family and perhaps a large contingent of local residents clad in UConn gear.

“I told him last night, I was like ‘Look, man, it’s time to get ready for Illinois,” Mullins’ father, Josh, told The Associated Press during Friday’s open practice at the 72,500-seat football stadium turned basketball arena. “Just enjoy the hell out of the time we have right here. It’s pretty awesome.”

Illinois is different, too. Guard Keaton Wagler, a second-team All-American, was just starting to emerge as a scoring threat in November. Today, he’s the Illini’s leading scorer (17.9 points) and the South Region MOP.

In November, forward Jake Davis was still coming off the bench and guard Andrej Stojakovic was still trying to find his groove. Davis now starts, Stojakovic’s big plays off the bench have played a key role in fueling Illinois’ tourney run and the 7-foot Ivisic twins, Tomislav and Zvonimir, have provided a needed physical presence.

The result: Indiana steamrolled its way through four tourney games, beating Penn, VCU, Houston and surprise Elite Eight participant Iowa all by double-digit margins. The second-seeded Cougars, who won a regional in Indy last year before losing in the title game, even were playing in Houston.

Now it’s time for Underwood & Co. to prove they have what it takes to contend with the always sturdy Huskies, with a chance to erase the bleak memories from the previous matchups by reaching the school’s second title game in front of what is expected to be a large contingent of orange-clad fans making the two-hour drive to Indy.

“I think from the game two years ago, it’s a clean slate,” Stojakovic said. “But we’re not really worried about that game. Obviously, we’ve gotten better (since November), had some guys return from injuries – both sides.”

Warm Weekend Alert: What to Expect from Easter Sunday’s Showers

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Prepare for another delightful day as temperatures climb into the low to mid-80s under sunny skies. Although a gentle breeze will accompany the warmth, there’s only a slim chance of a brief shower later today, ensuring a mostly dry and pleasant start to the holiday weekend.

Easter Sunday promises a dry beginning, ideal for morning church services, brunches, and egg hunts. The day will feature a blend of sun and clouds with temperatures again reaching the low to mid-80s. However, as the afternoon progresses, a cold front is expected to arrive, potentially bringing scattered showers and the occasional thunderstorm into the evening.

Following the front’s passage, cooler weather is set to settle in as the new workweek begins. Monday will see temperatures peaking only in the low to mid-70s, with a few showers possibly lingering. The cooling trend continues into Tuesday with temperatures steady in the mid-70s. Another dry cold front is anticipated to sweep through, causing a further dip in temperatures by Wednesday, where highs will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s.

As the week progresses, expect a gradual warming trend. By Thursday, highs should return to the low to mid-70s, climbing to the upper 70s by Friday. Overall, this week will be significantly cooler compared to the recent warm spell.

Controversy Erupts as Tribute to Slain Artist Iryna Zarutska Faces Unexpected Backlash

0

The artist from Providence, Rhode Island, who was tasked with creating a mural to honor Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee who was tragically killed, expressed disappointment, stating that his creative freedom was compromised following backlash that led to the project’s cancellation.

“We began the mural, but as it progressed, there was significant disapproval from the gay community due to Elon Musk’s involvement in funding the project. This opposition intensified, ultimately resulting in the business owners’ decision to take down the mural,” shared Ian Gaudreau, the artist involved before the mural’s sudden halt, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Expressing his discontent, Gaudreau remarked, “It’s disheartening that the mayor demanded the mural’s removal before I could fully articulate my intent. This feels like an infringement on my rights to free expression and speech, which is regrettable.”

On August 22, Zarutska was the victim of a random and unprovoked stabbing on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina. Disturbing surveillance footage captured the suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., allegedly stabbing Zarutska in the neck before nonchalantly leaving the scene as she succumbed to her injuries.

The incident sparked a fierce political debate about criminal justice, as Brown had cycled through the criminal justice system for more than a decade, racking up 14 arrests and previously spending five years in prison.

Musk contributed $1 million to help fund a nationwide campaign of public murals depicting Zarutska.

Gaudreau explained that he wasn’t taking sides politically when he took the job painting the mural.

“I think that some people are not able to view the work for what it is — for the work that I have done — because they’re allowing their disdain for Elon to cloud their judgment of the work as itself, because the work as itself is a response to the entire conversation,” he said.

He said he was incorporating symbolism into his work that was itself a critique of the political flashpoint caused by Zarutska’s death that he thinks overshadowed her memory.

“And in the painting, she sort of shines through that, despite this strangling effort. And that’s what I want to symbolize here, is that Iryna was a human being with a mother and father who are still with us and are still grieving.”

Gaudreau also said his work was a response to how works of art depicting Zarutska, and their artists, have been treated. In early March, a mural of the young woman was defaced in Chicago.

“I’m making this work in reaction, post all of the conversation,” he said. “I have the benefit of being on the tail end of this project, in a sense, because I’ve seen how these murals have been treated in the past. I’ve seen that they’ve been defaced, I’ve seen my fellow artists get dragged through the mud for making the choice to paint her, and my work is a reaction to all of that.”

The mural was set to be displayed on the exterior of The Dark Lady, an LGBT bar in Providence.

When the bar received blowback, it first defended itself from criticism, noting on Instagram that “Any of you who know us personally—even just for five minutes—realize the illicit intentions being portrayed here are completely false.”

As pressure mounted, the bar paused the project, and then later canceled it completely.

Amid the scrutiny, Providence’s Democrat Mayor Brett Smiley slammed the mural.

“The murder of the individual depicted in this mural was a devastating tragedy, but the misguided, isolating intent of those funding murals like the one across the country is divisive and does not represent Providence,” he said in a statement, later adding that he wants to “encourage our community to support local artists whose work brings us closer together rather than divide us.”

He later doubled down in an interview with WPRI.

“I regret the state of where we are in politics today where absolutely everything is political and controversial and hard,” he said in the interview. “There’s nothing we should be doing to take away from the tragedy of the loss of life represented here, but then it was distorted by an erroneous tweet by our president and then a movement was funded by some right-wing billionaires, and it found its way to our community.”

“A private owner of a building decided to put a mural up that I don’t think he understood the full context of, and I was asked whether I thought it should come down, and I thought it should,” said Smiley. “I didn’t stifle anyone’s speech, it was his decision whether to continue with it or to take it down, but it certainly wasn’t bringing us together as a community. There was really angry protests on both sides, a lot of hate speech online, and so I don’t think we’re a stronger, more united community because of this mural, and so I thought the best thing to do was just to take it down.”

Daughter’s Chilling Diary Reveals Plot Before Fatal Confrontation with Father

A woman from Washington state faces a lengthy prison sentence after her disturbing written intentions to murder her father culminated in a brutal execution of the plan.

In March, a Spokane County jury found 33-year-old Alyssa Bradburn guilty of first-degree murder for the June 2024 killing of her 68-year-old father, Timothy Bradburn.

On Thursday, Spokane County Superior Court Judge Julie McKay sentenced Alyssa to 28 years and four months in prison. Additionally, a no-contact order was issued, permanently barring her from contacting her brother, Trace Bradburn.

The siblings were in the same room for the final time during the sentencing.

Trace Bradburn was present at the hearing and shared his thoughts on the profound loss of their father, as reported by Spokane’s ABC affiliate KXLY.

“I just have to live my life with that,” Trace Bradburn told the court. “And it just guts me every day.”

The underlying incident occurred on June 25, 2024, at the Bradburn home in Spokane. The victim died from multiple gunshot wounds and the culprit was never truly in doubt – the defendant herself called 911 to report that she had shot and killed her father.

Initially, however, the murderess told police her father was abusive to her and her dogs – briefly essaying a self-defense claim.

The defendant later withdrew her allegations against the victim, which included claims her father shot her dogs with a BB gun in the backyard, beat her and the dogs, and raped her when she was a child.

Also, from the start, Alyssa Bradburn revealed that the shooting had been pre-planned for weeks. When officers arrived, the defendant handed police a notebook detailing those plans, according to contemporaneous reporting by Spokane-based NBC affiliate KHQ.

“My journal has my confession and everything in it,” Alyssa Bradburn told police. “It’s the result, I killed someone, so you go to jail for that, he wasn’t trying to kill me at the time.”

The defendant had no criminal history before killing her father with several shots from a gun she practiced with at a local shooting range.

“Unfortunately, the crime Ms. Bradburn decided to start her criminal history with is the most significant and serious that we have,” McKay said during the sentencing hearing.

The shooting occurred just after Timothy Bradburn returned from a trip to Hawaii. As the victim walked through the front door of his own home, his daughter unleashed a flurry of gunfire.

After calling 911 just before midnight and confessing to the shooting, the defendant sat on the front porch and waited for police to arrive.

The state requested a sentence of 31 years and seven months in prison, citing the deliberate and premeditated nature of the crime.

“The evidence that was presented during this trial demonstrated an extreme and elaborate degree of planning,” Emily Sullivan, a deputy prosecuting attorney, told the court.

The defense requested a straight 25-year sentence, arguing that Alyssa Bradburn suffers from extreme mental illness.

“Ms. Bradburn suffers from a state where she sometimes blurs fantasy with reality,” defense attorney Brian Raymon argued.

In the end, the court essentially split the difference by issuing a sentence of 280 months for the murder itself, with an additional 60-month sentence due to a firearm enhancement.

The defendant, for her part, declined to perform an allocution. She was reportedly seen smiling during the proceedings.

Outrage as Infamous South African Child Predator Set for Release

A survivor of one of South Australia‘s most notorious paedophiles has revealed his frustration at finding out his attacker, Anthony Munro, will soon be released from jail on parole.

Andrew McIntyre learned of the decision not through official channels but from another individual who had also suffered at the hands of the same abuser.

Even after many years, McIntyre is still grappling with the horrific abuse he experienced during his childhood.

“Now that I have children, I find the thought of such cruelty unimaginable,” McIntyre shared with 9News.

At just nine years old, he was targeted by Munro, a family friend.

“It’s a bizarre situation because, before the abuse began, he was someone I considered a friend,” McIntyre reflected.

The paedophile and former scout leader is behind bars for the horrific abuse of a number of children, including McIntyre, between the 1960’s and 1990’s.

Now he’s been granted parole, something at least one of his victims was notified about earlier this week, 9News understands.

McIntyre said he’s frustrated he wasn’t told.

“I’ve never received any notification – maybe that’s my fault, I don’t know,” he said.

Lawyer Andrew Carpenter has worked with dozens of survivors of child sexual abuse and says running into an offender is the last thing they need.

“The last thing any victim survivor wants to do is be out in public and see an offender that’s out when they thought they were in jail,” Carpenter told 9News.

Munro was 72 when he was sentenced to 10 years and nine months’ prison in 2017 for vile crimes in relation to McIntyre and another boy.

A third victim was identified three years later, adding more jail time.

“I was appalled by one year and six months for a third conviction of a known, proven paedophile,” McIntyre said.

Carpenter said there needs to be a change to protect victims.

Anthony Munro

“Until the parliament passes laws to make sure sentences are longer this is just going to be a thing that keeps happening over and over again,” he said.

A parole release date is still to be set but 9News understands there’ll be strict conditions for Munro, including electronic monitoring and home detention. He’s also not allowed to contact any of his victims.

Munro was questioned by police over the disappearance of the Beaumont children in 2016 who found no evidence linking him to the case.

On April 4, 2026, King Charles and Sir David Beckham have teamed up to finalize preparations for a garden that will be featured at the renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Last week, the 77-year-old monarch welcomed the 50-year-old former England football star to his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. Joining them were television gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh and author Frances Tophill, as they put the finishing touches on the garden that will be showcased at next month’s prestigious horticultural event.

David Beckham, who is passionate about gardening and acts as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation charity, shared his excitement about the project. “Both the King’s Foundation and the RHS are instrumental in safeguarding and promoting green spaces throughout the UK,” he remarked.

He continued, “I am eager to inspire a new generation to appreciate the advantages of nature and get involved in gardening. It’s been a rewarding experience to contribute to the creation of the Curious Garden, and I look forward to everyone seeing it at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.”

“I want to help encourage a new generation of to appreciate the benefits of nature and get involved in gardening. It’s been fun to be a part of creating the Curious Garden and I’m excited for people to see it at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.”

The garden features several personal touches from both Charles and Beckham – such as a prominent beehive that is inspired by the duo’s shared love of beekeeping as well as seven raised beds to honour the shirt number that the former Manchester United player wore during his football career.

A press release said: “The group are united by a love for gardening and the outdoors, and the hope that a new generation of young people will consider careers in horticulture in their future.”

Beckham has a close bond with the King and explained how the monarch was the inspiration behind the grey suit he wore – designed by his wife Victoria Beckham – to receive his knighthood at Windsor Castle last November.

The former Real Madrid player said: “He was quite impressed with my suit. He’s kind of the most elegantly dressed man that I know, so he inspired quite a few of my looks over the years and he definitely inspired this look.

“It was something my wife made me. I looked at old pictures of him when he was quite young in morning suits and I was like, ‘OK, that’s what I want to wear’, so I gave it to my wife and she did it.”

Kylie Kelce’s Candid Take on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Wedding Rumors Sparks Controversy

0

Kylie Kelce has faced online backlash for expressing frustration over inquiries about the anticipated wedding between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift scheduled for this summer.

The Kansas City Chiefs player is set to tie the knot with Swift in June, following their engagement last August. Despite the excitement surrounding the event, details remain scarce as family members, including Kylie, keep information under wraps.

Kylie voiced her annoyance, stating, “I just want to tell everyone, I know it often comes from a good place—though not always—but stop asking me and my mother-in-law about the wedding. No one’s sharing any details because I don’t have them.”

Now, in a new episode of her podcast ‘Not Gonna Lie’, she has slammed those trying to get information out of her about the highly-anticipated event. But not everyone thinks she has quite managed to read the room on this one.

Married to Travis’ brother, former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, Kylie also criticized TMZ for approaching Donna Kelce, the family matriarch, for information.

Kylie, married to Travis’ brother and former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, also took issue with TMZ in particular, after they approached the matriarch of the Kelce family; Donna.

She said: ‘Stop f***ing asking my mother-in-law, TMZ. F***ing being creeps in the f***ing airport. Ew. Here’s the thing, even if I did have any information, I’m not f***ing telling you. That’s private information between family. A and B, see your way out.’

‘My new answer: “Suck my a**”. I’m gonna get a headband with LED lights and it’s gonna say, “Suck my a**,” and I’m just gonna have a little button and it’s gonna turn on the second someone asks about it.’

There were some observers, though, who thought Kelce’s words veered on being hypocritical given how when it suits her, she’s happy to tell people about her family life.

One fan, sharing a gif from infamous South Park episode mocking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘Worldwide Privacy Tour’, said: ‘Kylie Kelce telling people to stop asking her about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce ’s wedding on the podcast she started for the sole purpose of monetizing her relationship/proximity to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.’

Another wrote: ‘New Heights was an average podcast. Sort of amateurish. It didn’t get popular until Travis started dating Taylor. Kylie used that to leverage her own podcast. The only reason anyone listens to Kylie is Taylor Swift. The ego here is incredible.’

A different fan posted: ‘I mean come on the only reason she is behind a mic is cuz of that relationship.’

A similar take read: ‘Taylor Swift is the only reason any of the Kelce podcasts got popular. Swifties, who would kill their own grandmothers for more TSwift content, tuned in hoping to (find) snippets. Nobody else listens to them.’

Kelce started her podcast in November 2024, a little over a year after Swift’s relationship with Travis became public news by the singer attending a Chiefs NFL game.

The couple are expected to tie the knot in Rhode Island on June 13 with around 150 guests anticipated. The wedding will take place at her $18 million Rhode Island mansion which has a view of the ocean and generous adjacent lawns.

source previously revealed to the Daily Mail that plans are said to be so tightly under wraps that even guests are currently unaware of the exact date and location.

‘Everybody [loved ones, close friends] has been told to put the summer on hold and they will find out the details right before the wedding,’ one insider told us.

A second insider indicated that the nuptials will definitely take place prior to football season and that Kelce will be able to attend his full training camp schedule.

Despite fears that he could be set to retire after a glittering 13-season career, Kelce confirmed last month that he would be returning to the field for the new season in September.
