Chicago Tragedy: Man Charged with Murder and Arson in Firefighter’s Death

0

In a tragic turn of events this week, a 27-year-old man from Chicago has been charged with murder and arson following the death of a local firefighter. The Chicago police have identified the suspect as Sheaves Slate, who now faces serious charges related to the fire that claimed the life of Michael Altman, aged 32.

The incident unfolded at a Rogers Park apartment building on West North Shore Avenue, where Altman tragically fell through the floor while responding to the blaze. This devastating accident occurred on Monday, leaving the city mourning the loss of the brave firefighter.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Authorities apprehended Slate on Wednesday on West Irving Park Road. The ABC7 I-Team has reported that Slate has a history marked by drug-related offenses and retail theft, adding a complex layer to his criminal background.

The charges against Slate underscore the gravity of the situation, as the community grapples with the loss of a dedicated first responder. The incident has sparked fresh conversations about safety and justice in the city, as residents and officials alike seek closure and accountability.

Altman fell through the floor at the Rogers Park apartment building fire Monday in the 1700-block of West North Shore Avenue.

He died from his injuries Tuesday.

“On behalf of the Chicago Police Department, our deepest condolences are with the family of Firefighter/EMT Michael Altman and the entire Chicago Fire Department. The loss of Firefighter Altman, who was a hero until the very end, is a profound loss for those who knew him and our entire city. Thank you to every firefighter, police officer and detective who responded to the fire and worked to bring a swift resolution in this investigation. We also want to thank our partners at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the ATF Chicago Field Division for their partnership in this case. Although we are proud of the tremendous work done to hold this offender accountable, we ask that the focus not be on who is responsible for Firefighter Altman’s death, but rather on his heroic life and his loved ones who will live with this grief forever. We will stand alongside our brothers and sisters at CFD as they carry on the legacy of a beloved father, husband, son and brother,” CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling said in a statement.

“This has been an incredibly difficult week for the family of Firefighter/EMT Michael Altman and our family here at the Chicago Fire Department. We are thankful for all the support we have received as we continue to support the Altman family and prepare to lay our hero to rest. We are immensely grateful for the tireless and collaborative efforts of the Chicago Police Department, Area 3 Detectives, Arson Detectives, the Chicago Fire Department’s Office of Fire Investigation, the ATF Chicago office, the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Chicago Buildings Department for their outstanding work on this case and in bringing accountability to this tragic incident. Through their diligence an individual has been charged with first-degree murder. While no outcome can undo the devastating loss the Altman family, his CFD family, friends and the city have suffered, this development is an important step toward justice. Firefighter Altman was a hero each time he put on the CFD uniform and each time he ran toward a fire to save lives. He was also a hero to his family, including his wife Nora, who is expecting their second child soon, and their young son. It is heartbreaking to know these children will now grow up without their father, but we promise to always be there for them and remind them that they are surrounded by their family here at the fire department,” CFD Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt said in a statement.

Slate is due in court Saturday.

Altman’s body was taken to a south suburban funeral home Friday morning.

A local bar is selling T-shirts to support a Chicago firefighter’s family.

Hundreds lined South Side streets to honor and salute the Chicago hero during a procession from the medical examiner’s office to Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn.

Altman was a soon-to-be father of two.

He was a fourth-generation CFD firefighter.

“My brother, he was a firefighter. I have a niece, who was a firefighter, and it stings. Anytime a first responder dies in the line of duty it stings,” Tom Bedore said.

Altman would have been on the job for two years in May.

Mourners Friday said they thought it was important to honor him.

“I grew up in Beverly, and there’s definitely a community feel around here, and having them be a part of this, and know that this is what you do. You help your brother; you help your sister,” neighborhood resident Katie Keller said.

“It’s overwhelming, and we can’t appreciate it enough. Honestly, this has been honestly an overwhelming amount of support. And sadly every time something like this happens, there is a overwhelming amount of support for us. And we appreciate that from everyone,” said Erik Steinmetz, with Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2. “He was really someone who was passionate about the job, had drive to learn about the job. And he was just, really took everything very seriously, and tried to be the best at it and he was really squared away guy.”

Funeral services are set for next week.

On Friday night, the community is holding a T-shirt fundraiser for Altman’s young family.

A thousand shirts were delivered Friday afternoon to Reilly’s Daughter in Oak Lawn. The bar paid for the T-shirts to be printed.

They’ll sell them for $25 apiece to benefit Altman’s young son and wife, who is eight months pregnant.

The proceeds will go directly to the family.

This is not the first time the southwest suburban pub has helped out a family facing a tragedy.

After all, Brendan O’Brien says he’s had relatives on the job, too.

“That’s what we do. It’s something: My father started this place almost 50 years ago, and he started doing it. And I grew up here my whole life, and that’s what I was raised to do,” O’Brien said.

Organizers say if they run out of shirts, their supplier, Marathon Sportswear, will immediately open an online store to continue selling the shirts.

At the United Center Friday night, there was a moment of silence. The Chicago Blackhawks and their fans honored a hero gone too soon.

Iran Minister Slams Australia: ‘Sham’ Photo with Footballers Sparks Diplomatic Tensions

0

Key Points

  • Iran slams Australia for ‘taking side with the aggressors’.
  • Europe and Japan will ‘join efforts’ to open the Strait of Hormuz.

In a recent development, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has acknowledged the possibility of Australian military assets in the Gulf becoming targets amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Simultaneously, Baghaei criticized Australia’s decision to offer asylum to members of Iran’s women’s football team.

During an interview on Thursday evening with Sarah Ferguson on ABC’s 7:30, Baghaei expressed Iran’s stance on Australia’s alignment with the United States and Israel. He emphasized that Iran would not differentiate between offensive and defensive military actions.

“As I mentioned, we hold the inherent right to self-defense, whether the operations against us are labeled offensive or defensive,” Baghaei stated. “We cannot consider military assets deployed to intercept missiles or drones from aggressors as purely defensive.”

He added, “Such actions are part of the aggression.”

In response to requests from a Gulf nation, Australia has sent an E-7A Wedgetail, a sophisticated long-range reconnaissance aircraft, along with supporting personnel from the Australian Defence Force, to the region.

In a joint statement on March 10, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the deployment wasn’t to take offensive action against Iran, but to protect Australians in the region.

In response to Ferguson’s question on whether Australia would be seen as a legitimate target by Iran, Baghaei repeated that Australia had taken “the wrong side of history”.

“I think it is very regrettable that the Australian government has decided to be on the wrong side of history by taking side with the blatant aggressors against Iran,” he said.

Iran accuses Australia of ‘coercing’ footballers

Baghaei has also accused Australian officials of taking Iran’s women footballers “hostage”, after seven Iranian footballers sought asylum in Australia, but five of them withdrew from the decision and now returned to Iran.

Baghaei insisted the Iranian footballers didn’t seek asylum.

“They didn’t seek asylum. They were forced to. They were coerced to as asylum. They didn’t do it voluntarily,” he said.

Citing the footballers’ coach, he claimed the women were invited into a room as they were told to clarify doping, but were asked to sign the papers that granted them asylum.

He also said Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke’s photo with five women’s footballers who initially sought asylum was “a shameful sham posture”.

This month, seven members of the football team who were in Australia for the Asian Cup were granted humanitarian visas — but one member decided to return to Iran, hours after accepting the offer.

Now, five of the team members who had accepted asylum have also decided to return home to Iran.

The home affairs minister said that, prior to the delegation arriving in Australia for the tournament, he worked with security agencies to ensure those associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — a government-listed terrorist organisation — were not granted visas to enter the country.

“Not everyone who applied for a visa [ahead of the tournament] got one. People who were connected to the IRGC were not granted visas,” Burke said.

He said when the team touched down in Sydney before flying out of the country, Home Affairs officials individually took all players and their support people into a room — without minders present — to extend them a similar offer.

The individual meetings, that Burke described as “emotional”, gave each woman a choice, following advocates’ concerns that the women were being coerced into returning to Iran.

“What we made sure of was there was no rushing, there was no pressure,” Burke told reporters in Canberra.

“Ultimately in Sydney, none of those individuals made the decision to take up the offer from Australia.”

Europe and Japan join to open Hormuz

On Thursday, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Japan issued a joint statement, urging “an immediate comprehensive moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations”.

The leaders also said they would act to stabilise energy markets and join “appropriate efforts” to open the Straits of Hormuz, which has been closed since the war in the Middle East broke out.

“We will take other steps to stabilise energy markets, including working with certain producing nations to increase output.”

European gas prices surged 25 per cent and oil gained 10 per cent on Thursday, after Iran attacked and caused extensive damage to the world’s largest gas plant in Qatar on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the objectives for the US to launch attacks on Iran remained to destroy the country’s missile launchers and block Iran’s opportunity to develop nuclear weapons.

The United States has carried out strikes against 7,000 targets inside Iran and hit more than 40 Iranian mine-laying vessels and 11 submarines, ‌according to the Pentagon.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Star Nicholas Brendon Passes Away at 54: A Tribute to His Legacy

Actor Nicholas Brendon, remembered fondly for his role as Xander in the beloved series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ has passed away at 54, his family confirmed on Friday in Tampa, Florida.

Brendon’s family shared their sorrow through a statement on his official Facebook page, which was also reported by the Hollywood Reporter. “We are heartbroken to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed in his sleep of natural causes,” the statement read.

Brendon’s portrayal of the witty Xander Harris, a central character from the debut of “Buffy” in 1997 until its conclusion in 2003, endeared him to fans despite his initial lack of acting experience. His career extended beyond ‘Buffy,’ as he took on various roles in other television shows and films. Notably, he became known for his character Kevin Lynch in the CBS crime drama “Criminal Minds,” where he worked for seven years.

“Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he brought to life over the years,” his family expressed in their heartfelt message. They continued, “He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create.”

Despite the series concluding years ago, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” maintains an enthusiastic fan base, with Brendon remaining a cherished part of its enduring appeal. However, his life was not without challenges. Brendon struggled with alcoholism and faced legal troubles, including arrests related to drug prescription fraud and domestic violence.

Brendon’s family acknowledged the actor’s history in their statement to THR, saying: “While it’s no secret that Nicholas had struggles in the past, he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis and he was optimistic about the future at the time of his passing.”

Brendon was previously diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, which was discovered after he suffered a heart attack.

His family spoke of the actor’s state of mind in recent years, saying in their statement: “Nicky has found his passion in painting and art. Nicky loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans. He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create. Those who truly knew him understood that his art was one of the purest reflections of who he was.”

Brendon’s family asked for thanked supporters and asked for privacy at this time, “as we grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination, and heart.”

MEMORISE: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: – Genesis 12:2 (KJV)

READ: Genesis 28:10-22 (KJV)

10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ruth 1-4

Open Heaven 21 March 2026 MESSAGE

Yesterday, I mentioned that curses attack roots. Similarly, divine blessings also go root-deep. For example, in Genesis 22:16-18, God blessed Abraham and said, “Through your seed shall the whole earth be blessed.” Two generations later, after Jacob deceived his father into blessing him, God appeared to him in a dream and said, “I am the God of your fathers, Abraham and Isaac.” That statement clearly implies that the blessing over Abraham and Isaac had flown through Jacob’s roots to him. In other words, Jacob had been blessed even before his birth.

Beloved, the next time someone tells you, ‘God bless you,’ do not take it for granted. Someone once came to me and said, “Daddy, pray for me,” and I replied, “God bless you.” After saying this, he refused to go because he still wanted to tell me about his problem. He didn’t understand the magnitude of what I said when I told him, ‘God bless you.’ Nowadays, people have turned ‘God bless you’ into a greeting; however, when it comes from someone with the God-given authority to bless you, you don’t need any other blessing.

God has given fathers the authority to bless, so when your father blesses you because he is pleased with you, it goes root-deep. In Genesis 27:1-4, Isaac told Esau to go hunting and prepare him a special meal. There was food in the house, but he was setting Esau up for a special kind of blessing. When Jacob came in with the special meal just the way his father wanted it, Isaac was deceived. He ate the meal and pronounced the blessing on Jacob. When he discovered that he had made a mistake, he told Esau that he had blessed Jacob and that nothing could be done to reverse it. Esau was devastated and pleaded for a little blessing. The ‘little’ blessing he got still produced massive results in his life because years later, as Jacob returned home and was told that Esau was on his way to meet him, Jacob, who had the lion’s share of the blessing, began to tremble. God had blessed his brother, who had the little portion of the blessing, so much that he had four hundred bodyguards around him!

Child of God, seek to live a life that pleases your heavenly Father and attracts His blessings. Today, I decree in the name that is above every other name, “God bless you.”

Champaign County Voters Lean Towards Service Cuts in Primary Election Decision

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — In Tuesday’s primary, voters in Champaign County expressed a preference for reducing staff and services to address the shortfall in the general fund, according to unofficial results from three advisory questions on the ballot.

The ballot presented voters with three choices: increasing property taxes, increasing sales taxes, or deciding between a tax increase and personnel cuts.

Shocking Assault: Man Attacked for Displaying Affection in Public – Head Injury Ensues

0

Inset: Manuel Ortiz (KLAS/YouTube). Background: Video played in court that allegedly shows Manuel Ortiz unleashing a sucker punch on a man he saw acting “lovey-dovey” with his boyfriend (KLAS/YouTube).

A man from Nevada suffered a severe head injury after being unexpectedly attacked by a stranger on the Las Vegas Strip, reportedly due to showing affection to his boyfriend. The incident, described by authorities and witnesses as a hate crime, left the victim unconscious on the pavement.

During the court proceedings for Manuel Ortiz, who faces charges of battery causing substantial bodily harm with a hate motivation for the 2023 attack, a witness recounted seeing the couple peacefully holding hands and kissing. The witness shared these observations during Ortiz’s arraignment last week.

Ortiz allegedly hurled a homophobic slur at the victim, Juan Cortez, as reported by Cortez and his boyfriend, Andre Rodriguez, who spoke to local CBS station KLAS following the court session.

The couple was enjoying a date night, which included attending a Romeo Santos concert at the T-Mobile Arena, when they crossed paths with Ortiz and two others, according to KLAS.

Cortez shared during the arraignment that Ortiz and his companions allegedly mocked them with derogatory language, expressing disbelief and disdain for the presence of LGBTQ+ individuals in the country.

Surveillance video shown in court allegedly shows Ortiz sucker punching Cortez moments after throwing a beer can at him and being confronted about it by Cortez and Rodriguez, per KLAS.

“All I remember, I was looking at my partner, seeing him go down, and I blacked out,” Rodriguez recounted. “I was really scared,” he said. “I was really scared that Juan was going to die.”

The witness who testified said they saw Cortez “falling to the ground” and then “his head gets cracked open,” according to KLAS. He had to be hospitalized after the alleged incident and received a blood transfusion, as well as stitches.

“I was terrified, you know, I didn’t know why this was something that happened to us,” Rodriguez said. “And I never thought that it would be something that happened here in Las Vegas.”

A local police detective testified that he received a tip last year leading to the arrest of Ortiz and he was charged following an investigation. Ortiz’s defense attorney insists that his alleged actions did not stem from hate and that Cortez started an altercation with Ortiz.

“No one said he was wearing a KKK shirt. There is no evidence, literally, of hate,” lawyer Craig Mueller argued, according to KLAS.

“What was the motivation? Somebody said they heard ‘f—t’ being used, okay…The other guy came up and started cursing at a group of strangers and got hit exactly one time,” Mueller said. “This isn’t a hate crime. It’s a guy who got drunk and decided to pick a fight with some strangers.”

A jury trial is scheduled to take place on Aug. 3.

Manhunt Underway for Suspect in NSW South Coast Armed Robbery and Carjacking

0

In a disturbing incident on the New South Wales south coast, a man was shot during an armed robbery and carjacking at a hotel late last night. The event unfolded around 10:30 p.m. when emergency services responded to a call from a hotel located on Campbell Street in Narooma.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a 31-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound. He received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to Moruya Hospital. Fortunately, he is reported to be in stable condition.

According to police reports, an unidentified individual entered the hotel and shot the victim before making off with stolen cash. The authorities are actively investigating the incident and are seeking any information that could lead to the identification and capture of the suspect.

Police were told an unknown man had gone into the hotel and shot the 31-year-old before stealing cash.

He allegedly threatened people inside the hotel, demanding more money before fleeing.

Police were told the man then approached a 17-year-old driver in a Toyota Land Cruiser in a nearby car park before demanding the teen get out of the car, threatening them with the gun.

The unknown man left the scene in the car, and it was found shortly after, burnt out on the Princes Highway in Narooma.

The fire was extinguished shortly after, and police are now investigating the incident.

Stunning Footage: US Strike Targets Suspected Narco Vessel in Eastern Pacific – Coast Guard’s Urgent Search for Survivors

0

United States military forces executed a deadly operation against a ship believed to be linked to recognized terrorist groups in the Eastern Pacific. This mission, as confirmed by U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), aimed at disrupting an ongoing drug trafficking network.

The directive for the strike was issued by SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan. This decision came after intelligence verified that the vessel was navigating established drug smuggling routes in the Eastern Pacific.

The craft, suspected of engaging in narcotics trafficking, was a low-profile vessel frequently referred to as a “narco sub.” These vessels are specifically built to avoid detection and are commonly utilized for transporting drugs from South America to regions such as Central America or Mexico.

Footage released by the U.S. Southern Command captured the vessel in transit prior to the strike.

Three suspected narco-terrorists survived the strike, and USSOUTHCOM said it had immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard to activate the search and rescue system for the survivors.

It is unclear how many people died in the attack. No U.S. military forces were harmed, according to officials.

The strike comes weeks after the Pentagon carried out a lethal strike on a vessel allegedly carrying suspected narco-traffickers in the Eastern Pacific, killing six people on board.

The March 8 strike was also ordered by Donovan, who took over SOUTHCOM in January.

Six men on the ship were killed, but no U.S. forces died in the attack.

At least 156 people have been killed in alleged drug smuggling ship strikes ordered by the Trump administration, according to The New York Times.

Did You Know You Could Be Fined for Blocking an Intersection in Florida? Here’s What You Need to Know!

ORLANDO, Fla. – In an effort to enhance road safety and driver awareness, News 6’s traffic safety expert, Trooper Steve, takes on viewer questions to clarify the often confusing traffic laws for Central Florida’s drivers. His insights aim to foster a more informed driving community.

Recently, Trooper Steve addressed a common concern among motorists: the perplexing situation of being “stuck” in an intersection. A viewer posed the question, “Why was I issued a ticket when I entered the intersection on a green light but ended up trapped due to halted traffic?”

Understanding the rules of the road is crucial, and Trooper Steve sheds light on such scenarios that many drivers find themselves in. His guidance not only serves to resolve individual queries but also helps prevent future traffic violations.

In related news, Sanford has increased the deployment of speed-measuring devices, further emphasizing the region’s commitment to traffic safety. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that roads remain safe for all users.

Here’s the scenario.

You’re driving in heavy traffic, the light turns green and everything starts moving. You pull into the intersection, only for traffic ahead to suddenly stop. The light changes, and now you’re stuck in the middle of the intersection. Moments later, you’re being pulled over… cited for blocking it.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. It’s a situation drivers ask about often, especially when their intention was to move through legally.

Under Florida law, drivers are not permitted to enter an intersection unless they can complete the maneuver and fully clear it.

[VIDEO BELOW: Merging dos and don’ts]

While entering on a green light is required, it does not override the responsibility to ensure there is enough space on the other side of the intersection to continue moving.

This is why a citation can still be issued even when the light was green at the time a driver entered. The violation isn’t about the color of the signal, it’s about stopping within the intersection and obstructing traffic once the signal changes.

A good way to understand this rule is to compare it to making a left turn. Drivers are expected to wait until they know they can safely complete the turn before beginning it. Entering an intersection in heavy traffic follows the same principle. If traffic ahead is backed up, drivers should leave enough space or wait through the cycle until they can move all the way through.

[ASK TROOPER STEVE:Send your question to Trooper Steve]

Blocking intersections doesn’t just slow traffic, it creates safety risks for cross traffic, emergency vehicles and pedestrians who rely on clear intersections to move safely.

The takeaway is simple: a green light gives you permission to go, not a guarantee that you should. When traffic is thick, patience and spacing are the difference between moving smoothly and getting an unexpected ticket.

Get Ready to Laugh: Kevin Hart Takes Center Stage in Netflix’s Hilarious ‘The Roast of Kevin Hart

Following Tom Brady’s high-profile roasting in a Netflix comedy special, the streaming giant has now turned its attention to its next celebrity target: Kevin Hart.

Netflix revealed that the “roast master himself” will be on the receiving end of some comedic jabs during a live comedy event at the Netflix Is A Joke Fest in Los Angeles. Shane Gillis is slated to host the night, with a roster of comedians who are yet to be announced.

Titled The Roast of Kevin Hart, this event is scheduled to go live from The Kia Forum on Sunday, May 10 at 8/7c. Hart will join forces with Casey Patterson, Jeff Ross, Amy Zvi, and Dave Becky as executive producers for the roast.

This isn’t Hart’s first roasting experience on the streaming platform.

Back in 2024, Hart was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center. The event, which premiered on Netflix, was part of a long-term collaboration with the Kennedy Center, showcasing a star-studded assembly of celebrities, including Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Regina Hall, Chelsea Handler, and numerous others, all gathered to celebrate Hart’s comedic legacy.

Somehow, the evening turned into a roast of the world-famous comedian, with several of his colleagues taking shots at him throughout the ceremony.

But Hart knows how to take the heat. Puck News reported Netflix was considering Will Smith amongst “a few” celebrities to participate in the next roast. Surprisingly, it was reported Smith was considering the opportunity, however, it looks like the honor will go to Hart instead.

This marks Netflix’s first live roast since Brady’s inaugural special, The Roast of Tom Brady, which did not go as well as Brady might have hoped. The evening featured appearances and jokes from Nikki Glaser, Kim Kardashian and more, who took aim at his storied football career, as well as his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen and the impact their separation had on his family.

But Brady admitted soon after the roast that he “wouldn’t do that again,” adding, “It affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”

“I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun,” he said at the time. “I didn’t like the way they affected my kids.”

According to Netflix, The Roast of Tom Brady earned 26 million views to date and spent three weeks in the Global Top 10 after it aired in 2024.
