Retired US General Asserts US and Israel’s Efforts to Overthrow Iranian Regime Are Futile

0

A retired U.S. general has expressed skepticism about the likelihood of effectively replacing Iran’s regime through external efforts by either Israel or the United States. Former Lt. Gen. Mark Schwartz shared his insights with the Israel Hayom newspaper amid ongoing joint operations, codenamed Operation Epic Fury and Operation Roaring Lion, which have been active for 20 days.

Schwartz articulated that the challenge lies in the resilient structure of Iran’s leadership. “In my professional assessment, neither Israel nor the U.S. will fully succeed in replacing the Iranian regime. The main reason is that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of Iranian religious leaders who can replace the Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah, if he is eliminated,” he stated in his interview with Israel Hayom.

He further elaborated on the depth and resilience of Iran’s power structures. “No matter how many successors you kill one after another, there will always be another one in line. Iran’s intelligence and security apparatus, the Revolutionary Guards, and the Iranian military also have depth. They are capable of replacing the top of the organization if it is destroyed,” Schwartz reportedly commented.

In related developments, reports have surfaced suggesting that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is not functioning effectively and is struggling to exert control over the regime. This internal dynamic adds another layer of complexity to the situation, highlighting the intricate web of leadership within Iran.

Schwartz is a career Green Beret who served in the U.S. Army for 33 years, according to The National Special Forces Green Beret Memorial, where he is the chairman of the advisory board.

The organization said, “During his career, Mark served throughout the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa,” and, “He has had the opportunity to lead strategic planning and operations working with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States Agency for International Development.”

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had warned Wednesday that if the Iranian regime survives Operation Epic Fury, “it will likely seek to begin a yearslong effort to rebuild its military, missiles and UAV forces.”

Gabbard also said the intelligence community “assesses that Operation Epic Fury is advancing fundamental change in the region that began with Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, and continued with the 12-day war last year, resulting in weakening Iran and its proxies.”

The campaign so far has resulted in the killing of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has been replaced by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Sheriff Accuses Democratic AG of Intimidation Amid Major Ballot Discrepancy in Newsom-Endorsed Prop 50 Plan

0

In a dramatic turn of events, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco has leveled serious accusations against Democratic Attorney General Rob Bonta, claiming that Bonta is attempting to interfere with a significant investigation being conducted by his department. The probe concerns a troubling discrepancy of 45,896 votes related to Governor Gavin Newsom’s controversial Prop 50 redistricting initiative.

Proposition 50, which was passed in a special election last November, grants the state legislature temporary authority to bypass the independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. This allows lawmakers to redraw congressional districts in favor of Democrats until the next census in 2030.

The measure, formally known as the “Election Rigging Response Act,” has sparked debate and allegations of electoral manipulation. Sheriff Bianco, who is positioning himself as a prominent Republican candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial race, is investigating whether the proposition was approved through questionable or manipulated processes.

County records that were scrutinized during the investigation reveal a startling inconsistency: although only 611,428 ballots were reportedly cast in Riverside County’s special election, officials certified an unexpectedly high total of 657,322 votes. This discrepancy of over 45,000 votes has raised significant concerns.

Bianco asserts that Attorney General Bonta is taking questionable steps to hinder the ongoing investigation. He has recounted instances of direct communication from the AG’s office, including phone calls and letters, which he perceives as aggressive attempts to obstruct the examination of the alleged voting irregularities.

Now, Bianco claims, Bonta is suspiciously, allegedly trying to “shut down” the investigation. Bianco described to reporters multiple direct contacts from the AG’s office—including phone calls and letters—that he characterized as heavy-handed attempts to shut down scrutiny of the unexplained 45,000+ vote gap.

“Instead of addressing the discrepancy, Bonta has tried multiple times to shut down our investigation,” he said.

“This investigation is very simple,” Bianco stated. “Our investigation will determine the validity of that alleged discrepancy… We will do that by physically counting the ballots. This is not a recount to determine how many votes were for or against Prop 50.”

Newsom Comes for White House over Integrity of CA Elections, Gets Hit with Embarrassing Truth

Bianco, in a follow-up post on X, declared it his “duty” to investigate the massive ballot discrepancy, noting that the Prop 50 scheme “could decide the balance of power in Congress.”

In a sane world, the Attorney General would also feel it his “duty” to get to the bottom of things. Yet, Bonta is trying to shut it down.

Biano has vowed to press on, despite the heavy-handed attempts to thwart his probe.

“AG Bonta is part of the executive branch of this state,” he declared. “Under the separation of powers principle, AG Bonta does not have authority over the court or evidence. I will carry out my constitutional duty to pursue justice impartially.”

A Riverside Superior Court judge sided with the sheriff earlier this week, greenlighting the continuation of the inquiry under a court-appointed special master to ensure independence and transparency, a ruling that Bianco hailed as a victory against state overreach.

Michael Gates, the Republican candidate challenging Bonta for California Attorney General, strongly endorsed Bianco’s investigation into the Prop 50 ballot discrepancy.

He blasted Bonta for allegedly covering up corruption and attempting to block legitimate probes into election integrity.

“Rob Bonta wants to shut down that investigation,” he said in a video posted to X. “Why? Because he’s not really acting as the top law enforcement official in California. He doesn’t want to get to the truth.”

“He’s there to run cover for corruption.”

Isn’t running cover for corruption what Democrats do in California? It’s not a negative in their world. It’s more of a resume enhancer.

The scandal here isn’t just the unexplained vote discrepancy. It’s the Democratic establishment’s frantic efforts to silence the investigators. It’s the effort to protect Newsom’s redistricting power grab. To tip the scales of power in the House for Democrats.

The scheme starts at the county level but then explodes into a national power grab. It’s a wholesale corruption complex. Election integrity takes a back seat to raw political control in the Golden State.

‘Our family asks for privacy during this time as we grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination and heart,’ his family members concluded in their joint statement.

‘Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support.’

The statement shared by the late actor’s family was edited, but an earlier version published just hours earlier suggested that Nicholas was going through treatment for an unspecified diagnosis at the time of his death.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, his family previously wrote: ‘While it’s no secret that Nicholas had struggles in the past, he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis and he was optimistic about the future at the time of his passing.’

In 2022, the actor previously revealed that he had suffered a heart attack and was subsequently diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.

He previously opened up about his addiction struggles, explaining that also played a role in his ongoing health battles, including cauda equina syndrome.

Following a serious fall he had in February 2021, according to the Los Angeles Times, he suffered from cauda equina syndrome — the compression of a collection of nerve roots located at the bottom of the spinal cord, per the Cleveland Clinic — and was required to undergo multiple corrective spinal surgeries over the years.

Late last year, Nicholas also underwent ‘knee surgery,’ according to his Facebook post in November 2025.

In Buffy, Nicholas played the lovable sidekick to Gellar’s titular character, and together, they appeared in all seven seasons of the hit supernatural drama series, which aired from 1997 to 2003.

He also played recurring roles on Criminal Minds as well as in Kitchen Confidential, a sitcom starring Bradley Cooper and based on Anthony Bourdain’s same-name memoir aired on Fox for only one season.

In addition to his major television roles, he starred in the 2000 film adaptation of Charles Busch’s Psycho Beach Party alongside Lauren Ambrose and Amy Adams.

He also starred in the 2002 thriller Demon Island, the 2007 horror film Unholy and the 2013 sci-fi flick Coherence.

Following his time on Buffy, Nicholas’s struggles with substance abuse and mental health became public, resulting in a string of arrests including prescription fraud.

Starting in 2010, he was charged with offenses ranging between felony vandalism, resisting or obstructing officers, criminal mischief and felony corporal injury to a spouse, with the latter ending in a plea deal and three-year probation.

His recovery journey was intertwined with the arrests as he checked into rehab and opened up about his struggles with mental health and addiction over the years.

Shortly after the tragic news was announced, his costar Alyson Hannigan was among the first to pay tribute to Nicholas on social media.

The actress, who played Willow Rosenberg in Buffy, took to Instagram as she remembered some of their fond memories.

‘My Sweet Nicky, thank you for years of laughter, love and Dodgers,’ she wrote alongside a photo of them hugging and crying during an emotional scene.

‘I will think of you every time I see a rocking chair. I love you. RIP,’ she wrote alongside emojis of a broken heart and a crying expression.

Emma Caulfield, who played Brendon’s love interest in the series, also posted a tribute on her Instagram Story.

‘My heart is heavy. I can’t put into words just yet how this has hit me,’ she wrote about her costar alongside a clip of a scene of them dancing during the famous musical episode from season six.

‘Let this clip of us giving it our all be a place holder,’ she wrote. ‘Rest Nicky. Rest. I love you.’

Ultimate Guide to South Australia’s Election Day: Key Insights & Essential Information

0

In brief

  • South Australians head to the polls on Saturday.
  • The election will be closely watched, amid One Nations rise in the polls.

Voters in South Australia are preparing to cast their ballots this Saturday, and while it’s anticipated that the Labor government will maintain its position, political analysts are closely monitoring a burgeoning rivalry between One Nation and the Liberal Party.

Ashton Hurn, the leader of the Liberal Party, emphasized that her team has exerted maximum effort ahead of the election. However, it’s uncertain if these efforts will be sufficient to retain voters who might be considering other options.

This election marks a significant moment for One Nation, as it faces its first test at the polls since the party’s rise in national popularity last year.

The critical question remains whether South Australians are willing to support One Nation’s controversial right-wing platform, which includes populist policies and proposed immigration reductions.

Corey Bernardi, the state leader and former senator of the Australian Conservatives, is optimistic about securing at least one seat in the upper house for his party.

He needs just over eight per cent of the vote to do so and is running on a platform that promises to reduce overall immigration.

The party is also eyeing off several regional seats, where they could find themselves contesting three way races with the Liberals and Independents, who have traditionally done quite well in the state.

Controversially, reversing a Howard-era policy against preferencing One Nation, the Liberals have also placed them ahead of Labor on their how-to-vote cards.

Despite this, Hurn is clear her party does not endorse them.

“I couldn’t name you a single policy One Nation have talked about implementing,” she said.

Bernardi has hit back at these accusations.

“For the last month, they’ve been saying we don’t have policies, despite having a comprehensive suite of policies on our website,” he said.

Any wins this election won’t be the first for One Nation in South Australia.

Orange candidate Sarah Game was elected in 2022, but she defected to sit as an independent last year, after she took issues with the party’s “brand”.

Incumbent Premier Peter Malinauskas, looking all but assured another term in office, said he would wait until the election played out to assess the strength of One Nation’s hold on South Australia.

“I think what really matters … is that serious parties of government have serious policy for the future of the state,” he said.

This is also the first election since South Australia banned political donations in 2024, which will no doubt be another topic of discussion once the votes are counted.

What the polls say

Put stock in them or not, opinion polls have seen One Nation edge further and further ahead of the Liberal’s primary vote.

The final YouGov and Newspoll results have One Nation taking 22 per cent of the primary vote, with the Liberals taking home percentages in the high teens.

Associate professor Rob Manwaring from Flinders University said these results reflect an “implosion” of the state’s Liberal Party.

“A lot of the result of what’s happening to One Nation is something that’s happening to them, rather than necessarily the way they’ve been campaigning,” he told SBS News.

He said the Liberal Party had lost voters and “many right or centre-right inclined voters are considering now parking their vote somewhere else.”

This is backed by YouGov polling, which found 52 per cent of the party’s supporters saying they felt unrepresented by the major parties, with only 10 per cent claiming to support its policies.

Manwaring said it was unclear if these primary votes would result in seats.

“Minor parties face the problem under the electoral system for the lower house is that even if they score relatively well, 20 to 30 per cent, then preferences might not go their way,” he said.

If they are successful though, Manwaring said One Nation could change the tone of South Australia’s parliament.

“If One Nation picks up probably two seats in the upper house … they have an eight year platform [for] their own rather polarising and divisive rhetoric.”

Why are South Australians turning away from the Liberals?

The state’s Liberal party has burned through leaders and weathered several high profile scandals in recent years.

“The low point,” Manwaring said, was when former leader David Speirs resigned in 2024 after he was arrested and later convicted of supplying drugs.

“That’s proved damaging to the reputation.”

It’s a line echoed by South Australian party leader Bernardi.

He said a “deep well of concern about how party politics is failing citizens” was driving his party’s success.

Policies?

Power, health and housing have dominated policy announcements this election.

Labor has spruiked its investments into the state’s hospital sector and its construction record.

While the Liberals have proposed a new hospital development, changes to stamp duty for first home buyers and significant investment in road upgrades.

Thanks to One Nation, immigration has also entered the conversation.

Malinauskas said immigration was “not on the ballot,” even as One Nation has made it a key talking point.

Bernardi said his party wanted to deprioritise Muslim immigration, and to “cut back” on numbers

The future of South Australia’s First Nations Voice to Parliament has also become a central point of difference between Labor, One Nation and the Liberals.

It was established in 2023 and is about to elect its second cohort of representatives.

The Labor government has committed to the institution, while the Liberals and One Nation have both said they would scrap it.

“The one thing I think people want from their politicians now more than anything else is authenticity and honesty,” Malinauskas said.

“And I believe that the Voice can have a positive role to play.”

Florida Dominates Prairie View with 59-Point Win, Achieving Second Largest Margin in NCAA Tournament History

In a commanding display, Florida kicked off its defense of the national title with a resounding 114-55 victory over Prairie View A&M, marking the second-largest win in NCAA Tournament history. This dominant performance unfolded on Friday night in Tampa, Florida.

Leading the charge for the top-seeded Gators, who now boast a 27-7 record, was Boogie Fland with 16 points. Remarkably, seven Gators scored in double figures. The 59-point triumph is second only to Loyola Chicago’s historic 111-42 victory over Tennessee Tech in 1963. With this win, Florida advances to the South Region’s second round to face the No. 9 seed, Iowa, this Sunday.

Florida’s offensive prowess was on full display as they embarked on two lengthy first-half scoring runs, 18-0 and 17-0, transforming a close 15-15 game into a commanding 60-21 lead by halftime. The Gators were unstoppable, shooting 75% in the first half and finishing the game with a 64.3% shooting percentage. Meanwhile, Prairie View A&M, the 16th seed, concluded their season with a 19-18 record.

While other top seeds like Duke and Michigan encountered challenges in their opening games, Florida faced no such difficulties. Duke had a tough matchup against Siena, and Michigan struggled to distance themselves from Howard in the first half. In stark contrast, Florida’s performance was seamless.

“I think we made quite a statement,” said Fland. “After watching some earlier 1-16 matchups, setting this record felt significant. It’s a bold message to the world, no doubt.”

Late in the second half, 7-foot-9 freshman Olivier Rioux — the world’s tallest teenager before he turned 20 last month — got in on the action with a putback dunk.

Fland made all six of his shots. Rueben Chinyelu had 14 points and 13 rebounds, while the other two members of a dominant frontcourt — Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon — finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Prairie View, a 35 1/2-point underdog according to BetMGM Sportsbook, didn’t have a 2-point basket through the first nine minutes, but kept pace early by converting five of its first seven 3-point attempts to pull even at 15-all.

Chinyelu scored nine points during the ensuing 18-0 run, and the rout was on before a sellout crowd in what essentially was a home game with coach Todd Golden’s squad playing only a two-hour drive south of its campus in Gainesville.

“I think we had a 38-0 paint advantage in the first half, scoring-wise,” Golden said. “So we weren’t settling. We were getting good shots. I thought we played with great purpose all night.”

Condon, Haugh, Chinyelu and Fland all reached double-figure scoring in the first half.

Prairie View, a historically Black school located outside of Houston, made it to March Madness after going 5-27 a season earlier. The Panthers defeated Lehigh in the First Four and weren’t strangers to facing teams from major conferences after having lost on the road to Texas A&M, Missouri, LSU and Oklahoma State early this season.

Donate Horne scored 12 points for the Southwestern Athletic Conference champions.

“Tough game,” Prairie View A&M coach Byron Smith said, adding the Gators were simply a “bigger, faster, quicker team.”

“Obviously Florida’s size really caused some problems for us. They shot the ball at a really high percentage,” Smith said. “We got down a little bit early and were playing catch-up from behind most of the night. That’s a tough way to go.”

Golden makes an early tweak

After Prairie View made five of its first seven 3-point attempts, Golden adjusted Florida’s defense. The Panthers went 1 of 15 behind the arc from there, finishing 6 of 22.

“We didn’t do a job in the first couple of minutes of guarding the 3-point line, and once we righted that we accomplished what we needed to,” Golden said.

Shocking Incident: Man Arrested for Choking Infant Amid Heated Argument with Child’s Mother, Police Report

0

Inset: Diego Longoria (Brownsville Police Department). Background: A residential street near where Longoria allegedly choked his 3-month-old son in Brownsville, Tex. (Google Maps).

A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly choking his 3-month-old son during a heated argument with the infant’s mother, as reported by local police.

Diego Alfredo Longoria, 23, faces charges of injury to a child, assault by strangulation, and making a terroristic threat, according to information from the Brownsville Police Department.

The incident reportedly took place last week at a home on Tulane Avenue in north Brownsville. This city is situated along the eastern edge of the U.S.-Mexico border, near the Gulf of Mexico.

Authorities were summoned to the scene in response to a domestic dispute, as detailed in a criminal complaint accessed by Brownsville NBC affiliate KVEO and Harlingen CBS affiliate KGBT, which operate jointly as “ValleyCentral.”

According to police, a woman identified as the grandmother of the child had informed dispatchers that Longoria was endangering his son.

As officers made their way to the residence, the child’s grandmother called 911 again, this time to report that the baby had a large bruise on his face and that Longoria was trying to leave the residence, according to the complaint.

When officers arrived, the three adults at the scene were separated from one another, police noted in the charging document.

Then, Longoria told responding officers he and the child’s mother had been arguing over “stupid things,” according to the complaint.

The grandmother repeated her claim that Longoria had been hurting the child and brought up an alleged history of verbal altercations, police said. The older woman went on to say that when she returned home, her daughter opened the door, handed her the baby, and asked her to take the child to the car, according to the complaint.

The defendant allegedly followed the grandmother and the mother to the car — demanding they return the child to him, the grandmother told police. But she refused to give up the child, saying it was “not safe for the baby to go with him,” according to the complaint. Then, Longoria allegedly started banging on the car windows.

The baby’s mother then explained the genesis of the “stupid” argument between the pair, police said. She said she was feeding the child when Longoria told her he was going to “intentionally scare him” and she told him not to do so, according to the charging document.

The man, however, ignored the woman and scared the boy anyway.

The mother said the baby widened his eyes and stopped eating as Longoria grabbed him and began to “thrust him up and down in the air in an aggressive manner,” ultimately causing the boy to cry.

The baby’s mother told the defendant to stop — apparently upsetting the man, police said. So, Longoria walked outside with the baby in his arms, the mother told law enforcement. When the mother followed the defendant outside and tried to retrieve the child, Longoria allegedly pushed her back and told her to get back repeatedly — though each time she refused the man’s commands.

Finally, the push and pull reached a breaking point.

“[Longoria] told her if she didn’t go back inside, he was going to kill her. In fear of his words, [the baby’s mother] went back inside and could still hear the baby crying,” the complaint reads.

Eventually, the baby’s crying sounds became gasping sounds, the mother told law enforcement. So she hurried back outside and found Longoria holding the baby with his left arm and using his right hand to “choke the baby,” according to the charging document.

The mother said she rushed over and attempted to stop the defendant from further hurting the child but that he pushed her off and she fell, police claim. Then, Longoria allegedly threatened to kill both mother and child if she did not get back inside the house.

After that, the baby’s mother called her own mother to relay what happened. Later, Longoria came back inside with the little boy, placed him on the bed, grabbed the baby’s mother and beat her, police allege.

Law enforcement questioned the woman as to how many times the defendant hit her; she said she lost count, according to the complaint.

At some point, the mother picked her child up from the bed and Longoria choked her for roughly 10 seconds, police said. Immediately after that, the grandmother arrived and called 911.

Longoria is being detained in the Brownsville city jail. Law enforcement contacted the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office regarding formal charges in the case, police said.

The child suffered a fracture to his right collarbone, possibly caused by pressure during the strangulation, according to the charging document. He is recuperating at the Driscoll Hospital in Corpus Christi.

One Nation’s Meteoric Rise Poised to Reshape Regional Politics and Send Shockwaves Beyond Borders

0
One Nation’s strong performance in tonight’s South Australian election could have a domino effect across the border, casting further doubt on Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan’s leadership.

The recent elections in South Australia saw both major political parties losing votes to One Nation, even as Labor Premier Peter Malinauskas secured a second term with ease.

Political analyst Charles Croucher foresees that One Nation’s strong showing could create “seismic shockwaves” in Victoria as it gears up for its state election in November.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has claimed "anonymous gossip" from "scallywags" about her leadership is unfounded.

“This development could serve as a wake-up call for Victoria, especially for Labor, which has traditionally depended on regional and outer suburban constituencies,” Croucher remarked.

“The predominant sentiment among One Nation supporters is one of frustration, feeling as though they’ve been neglected,” he added.

“This sentiment is even more pronounced in Victoria than it is in South Australia,” Croucher noted.

Croucher said he “would not be shocked” if the embattled Victorian premier was bumped from the top job within the next week.

Rumblings of a leadership spill within the Victorian Labor Party peaked when Allan was pictured dining on dim sum with Labor backbenchers in a Chinatown restaurant.

However, Allan denied the rumours, insisting she had the support of the party room and questioning the source of the rumours.

Allan denied the lunch was an attempt to sure up support.

“When I have the time in my diary I am often at a catch up,” she said.

“I think what that demonstrates is we are a good strong united Labor team.”

With the state election coming later this year, Labor sits behind the Liberal Party in the polls and is also being trailed closely by One Nation.

Colorado School Secretary Allegedly Involved with Minor Still Missing

0

A school secretary from Colorado is on the run after being accused of engaging in sexual activities with an eighth-grade student.

Kristen Duus, Public Information Officer for the Greeley Police Department, informed Oxygen that Brenda Meza is still at large. This comes days after authorities declared the 34-year-old wanted on multiple felony charges related to sexual assault.

Duus noted that there are currently “no updates” concerning the whereabouts of the former school administrator.

The Greeley Police responded to Franklin Middle School on February 12 following a report of sexual assault involving a 13-year-old student, according to an official statement.

Investigators revealed that Meza had allegedly engaged in ongoing sexual abuse of the minor over several months. Consequently, Brenda Meza is now facing several felony charges and is actively being sought by the police.

Brenda Meza is Accused of Repeatedly Having Sex With Teen, Providing Weed

The school secretary—who also served as a coach on the school’s cross-country team and a club advisor—allegedly began a relationship with the teen after he’d found her Instagram account over Thanksgiving break, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The New York Post. The pair allegedly began sending text messages and sexting photos of themselves before the relationship escalated in January, authorities said.

According to the allegations laid out in the affidavit, Meza and the teen met at a Walmart parking lot, consumed marijuana edibles and BuzzBallz cocktails, and then “started to kiss and touch each other.” They eventually moved into the back of the vehicle and had sex, authorities alleged in the court documents.

Authorities said the pair met up a second time a few weeks later at a local park to share marijuana and have sex again. Investigators allegedly found photos on Meza’s phone that showed the teen drinking alcohol and holding marijuana blunts, along with another image of the two together. The teen told investigators, per the affidavit, that they also had sex a third time at the same park.

Phone data allegedly revealed that Meza and the teen had texted each other “I love you” 81 times between Jan. 29 and Feb. 12.

During an interview with the victim, the teen told investigators that Meza told him she got jealous when she saw him talking with girls his own age, per the affidavit. Police said she also allegedly told the teen that his manhood was bigger than her husband’s.

The teen later told police, per the affidavit, that although he thought the banter—including comments that she believed she’d known him in another life—was “corny” he went along with it.

The illicit relationship was reportedly revealed after the school received an anonymous tip. Meza initially denied the relationship to school officials, according to the court documents obtained by The Post, but later confessed to getting high with the teen to her husband, who called the police.

During an interview with police, authorities said Meza allegedly admitted to having sex with the teen in the back of the car and to deleting nude photos from her phone.

Brenda Meza is Terminated From Franklin Middle School

Meza was placed on administrative leave at Franklin Middle School on Feb. 12 and later terminated on Feb. 25, according to a letter sent to families obtained by KDVR from school principal Dr. Suzette Luster.

Luster told parents in the letter that police believe Meza has fled the state.

“Student safety and security is always our first priority,” Luster wrote. “We are very sorry if these allegations have negatively impacted our school, staff and students. If your student needs extra support during this time, please reach out to our counseling office.”

According to the local outlet, Meza had been employed at the school since 2020.

Police have asked that anyone with information about the investigation to contact Detective Austin Burckley at Austin.Burckley@greeleypd.com. Those with information about her current whereabouts are urged to call 911 or contact Officer Zach Eberhard at Zach.Eberhard@greeleypd.com or 970-502-2186.

Prosecutors Halt Cremation of Suzanne Morphew: New Allegations Against Barry Morphew Unveiled

0

In a surprising twist to an ongoing legal saga, Barry Morphew, the man accused of murdering his wife Suzanne Morphew, reportedly approved her cremation earlier this year. This decision was met with immediate intervention from prosecutors who sought to halt the process, according to newly surfaced court documents.

Barry’s legal troubles have been tumultuous. A Colorado grand jury re-indicted him in June 2025 after a previous prosecution attempt in 2021 failed, leading to the dismissal of charges at that time. Barry stands accused of murdering his wife, who vanished without a trace on Mother’s Day in 2020. Tragically, Suzanne’s remains were discovered later, adding a grim reality to the case.

The couple had been residing near Salida, Colorado, when Suzanne, aged 49, was last seen alive. Despite the serious charges, Barry Morphew has maintained his innocence, entering a not guilty plea in January. His trial is slated for October, a date that looms large for all involved.

In a related development, February saw attorneys representing Suzanne’s daughters, Macy and Mallory, file a motion pressing the state for the release of their mother’s remains. However, this motion was withdrawn as of last Thursday, signaling yet another legal maneuver in this complex case.

Barry Morphew exits court after charges for wife's murder are dropped.

In a poignant moment captured in April 2022, Barry Morphew was seen leaving a Fremont County courthouse in Canon City, Colorado, alongside his daughters, Macy and Mallory, after the initial charges against him were dropped. In a May 2023 interview with “Good Morning America,” Morphew vehemently argued that Colorado authorities had misdirected their focus on him as the alleged perpetrator of Suzanne’s death. This public assertion adds another layer of complexity and tension as the trial date approaches.

Attorneys for both Macy and Mallory Morphew said in their initial filing that their mother’s remains were at Swan Lake Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, and had a funeral service planned for their mother when law enforcement took possession of the body.

The lawyers argued that law enforcement in Colorado had “stopped them from exercising their constitutional rights” to hold a funeral for their mother and bury her remains.

“This government conduct is outrageous, cruel, and shocking to the conscience,” attorneys for Macy and Mallory Morphew argued.

Responding to attorneys for Suzanne Morphew’s daughters, prosecutors said that Barry Morphew signed off on the cremation of Suzanne Morphew. In a court filing, Barry Morphew did not take a position on the release of her body.

Prosecutors said that Suzanne Morphew’s remains are “material evidence” to their murder case against Barry Morphew, asking the court to deny the motion to release her body.

“The Defendant in a murder case authorized the release of the murder victim’s remains, prior to pending motions litigation and jury trial, and paid to have them cremated prior to disclosures of his experts’ opinions or court rulings on admissibility of scientific testing regarding said remains,” prosecutors wrote.

Fox News Digital reached out to Barry Morphew’s attorney.

Timeline, according to prosecutors:

– Jan. 29, 2026: Barry Morphew signs off on the release of Suzanne Morphew’s remains from the El Paso Coroner’s Office to the Swan-Law Funeral Directors funeral home.

– Feb. 17, 2026: Law enforcement was notified that Suzanne Morphew’s remains were released to a funeral home and began the process to apply for a search warrant to take custody of the remains as “material evidence.”

– Feb. 18, 2026: A court authorized the search warrant for law enforcement to take possession of Suzanne Morphew’s body.

– Feb. 19, 2026: While collecting Suzanne Morphew’s remains, Undersheriff Alex Walker was informed that the remains were set to be cremated the next day.

– Feb. 24, 2026: A court authorized another search warrant for documents related to Suzanne Morphew’s remains, which include “two signed forms with Defendant Barry Morphew’s signature on them.” One of the forms authorized the cremation of Suzanne Morphew.

– March 19, 2026: Suzanne Morphew’s daughters withdrew their attempt to force the state to release their mother’s body.

Notably, Suzanne Morphew’s sister Melinda Balzar and brother David Moorman both “strongly object” to the release of her body, according to prosecutors.

“They both noted concerns with the integrity of the evidence and separately indicated their desire to discuss bringing Suzanne back to Indiana. It was their position that others in their family would agree,” prosecutors wrote.

Colin McCallin, a Colorado-based lawyer and former deputy district attorney for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Colorado, told Fox News Digital he would be concerned as a prosecutor if the remains were released.

“If I were a prosecutor on this case, I would be very concerned if the remains were turned over to the family. [If] Ms. Morphew’s remains were cremated, and then somehow the defense wanted to allege later that they wanted access to the body for their own testing, for their own forensic examination, for example. And then they claim, ‘oh, we can’t do that because we don’t have access to body.’”

A hearing regarding Suzanne Morphew’s remains is scheduled for March 30. A trial in the case is currently scheduled to begin Oct. 13.

She disappeared from the couple’s home in Chaffee County on May 10, 2020, prompting a massive search that initially turned up few answers.

Barry Morphew was first charged with her murder in 2021, but those charges were dropped the following year after prosecutors cited issues with the case and said they were close to discovering new evidence that could change its direction. His defense team argued at the time the case was dismissed because prosecutors were unlikely to win at trial.

After the charges were dropped, he left Colorado and relocated to Cave Creek, Arizona — more than 600 miles from where his wife disappeared. While living there, he kept a low profile and used aliases, including “Bruce” and “Lee Moore.” Acquaintances later told Fox News Digital they were unaware of his connection to the high-profile Colorado case until his re-arrest.

Suzanne Morphew’s remains were discovered in September 2023 in a shallow grave in the San Luis Valley, roughly an hour south of the family’s home. An autopsy later ruled her death a homicide.

According to court records, a powerful animal tranquilizer known as BAM — a combination of butorphanol, azaperone and medetomidine — was found in her bone marrow. Prosecutors said the presence of a metabolized form of the drug indicates she was alive long enough to process it, ruling out accidental or environmental contamination.

The indictment alleges Barry Morphew had access to BAM through his work with deer and was the only private citizen in the area known to possess the drug at the time of his wife’s disappearance. Investigators have also pointed to evidence involving a tranquilizer dart rifle found in the home, along with phone and vehicle data they say contradict his account of events.

After Barry Morphew was re-indicted, he was arrested in Goodyear, Arizona, extradited to Colorado and later released on bond in September after supporters helped post part of his $3 million bond. He remains under house arrest with an ankle monitor.

FBI Raids Home of Lebanese-Born Restaurant Worker Following Synagogue Attack with Explosive-Laden Truck, Citing Airstrike-Related Motive

0

Late Thursday night, federal agents conducted a raid on the residence of a Lebanese-born restaurant worker accused of driving a truck loaded with explosives into a synagogue in Michigan and opening fire.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, allegedly targeted Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township. The synagogue, which also functions as a preschool, was attacked following Ghazali’s reported loss of several family members due to an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon.

During the incident, a security officer was injured when struck by the vehicle, and the attacker was subsequently shot and killed by a guard at the scene around 12:20 p.m. The van ignited, leaving the suspect’s body severely burned.

Further investigation revealed that Ghazali was a naturalized U.S. citizen from Lebanon, employed at a restaurant in Dearborn Heights, a Detroit suburb. FBI agents were later seen conducting a search of his home in the area.

Mo Baydoun, the mayor of the suburb, stated that Ghazali had suffered the loss of several family members, including his niece and nephew, in an Israeli airstrike on their residence in Lebanon.

An unnamed source told CBS News the attack by Israel was ten days ago, and that two of Ghazali’s brothers were also killed.

Israel’s strikes followed the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which prompted renewed attacks by Hezbollah against Israel.

The unnamed CBS source added that Ghazali’s ex-wife said he phoned her shortly before the attack, asking her to take care of their children.

Authorities said they found the suspect’s body inside the vehicle, armed with a rifle.

‘He breached the building, drove down the hall, and he was engaged by security,’ Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said of the armed attacker at a news conference.

Ghazali was born in Lebanon in 1985 and entered the United States through Detroit Metropolitan airport on May 10, 2011, after alien relative and fiancé petitions filed in December 2009 were approved in April 2010, according to the New York Post.

He then applied for naturalization on October 20, 2015, and became a citizen on February 5, 2016, under the Obama administration, the outlet said.

Records obtained by the Detroit News show Ghazali’s ex-wife filed for divorce in Wayne County Circuit Court in August 2024, and a divorce was granted seven months later, in March 2025.

Federal authorities said at a news conference that they are probing the horrific incident as a ‘targeted act of violence’ against the Jewish community.

No students or staff were injured in the attack, but a security guard was taken to the hospital after being struck by the vehicle. He is expected to recover.

Thirty law enforcement officers were also taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said at the news conference.

‘When all of our people collectively went in that building to search out the threat, to remove innocent, a lot of them took in [a] significant amount of smoke inhalation, and they’re at the hospital being treated,’ Bouchard said.

Authorities said they then received a call about an active shooter at the synagogue at 12.19pm, and West Bloomfield police were at the scene within five minutes.

Photos shared online showed a large police presence on the scene with smoke coming out of windows and a vent on the roof.

Scores of police vehicles from neighboring departments, a SWAT team, bomb technicians and bomb-sniffing dogs also responded to the scene.

The synagogue is a reform Jewish place of worship that was open at the time of the attack. It has one of the largest congregations in the country.

One woman who spoke to Michigan WDIV news outlet, named Lisa, said that the preschool was in use at the time.

She told the outlet: ‘I’m scared to death for my friends, I’ve never seen anything like this. My first thought was the children.

‘Parents and grandparents are coming and they’re scared to death for their children. This is senseless, this is not okay.’

As she spoke, several adults could be seen embracing one another in tears.

Soon after the attack, a spokesman for Michigan State Police said: ‘We are asking for community members to stay away from the area to allow for police response. Troopers are also increasing patrols at other places of worship in the district.’

Sheriff Bouchard said law enforcement had been on high alert since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran nearly two weeks ago.

‘We’ve been talking for two weeks about the potential, sadly, of this happening,’ he said. ‘So there was no lack of preparation.

The sheriff added: ‘All Jewish facilities in the area are going to have a lot of extra presence around it until we figure this out.’

The Jewish Federation of Detroit has advised all Jewish organizations in the area ‘to go into lockout protocol – nobody in or out of your building’.

FBI Detroit led an Active Shooter Attack Prevention and Preparedness (ASAPP) training for the clergy and staff of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield in late January, nearly two months before Thursday’s attack.

‘The FBI course combines lessons learned from years of research and employs scenario-based exercises to help participants practice the decision-making process of the Run, Hide, Fight principles and take necessary actions for survival,’ the agency wrote in a post on X.

‘We appreciate them for having us. Our Division has partnered with many organizations in Michigan and is committed to protecting schools, workplaces, houses of worship, medical facilities, transportation centers, government facilities, other public gathering sites, and communities.’

Sheriff Bouchard has praised Temple Israel security for their response to the active shooter.

‘I’m deeply proud of the response not only from the security that was on site but also of all the police officers and the firefighters that are here now,’ she said.

‘Training certainly helped to mitigate what happened here today.

‘Everything that was supposed to happen, happened. Security did their job, and then the responders did theirs.’
