Unpacking One Nation’s Record Surge: Why Voter Discontent is at an All-Time High

0
The Coalition’s failure to unite in policy left a “vaccum” for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation to lure voters during the South Australian election – but the insurgent party could shake up federal politics too.
One Nation’s strong performance in the election was accompanied by a significant dip in support for both the victorious Labor party and the Liberals, and politicians in Canberra should be taking note, former Nationals leader David Littleproud said.

Littleproud observed that Hanson’s dramatic surge in popularity highlights a growing disillusionment among voters with all political factions.

“The takeaway here, applicable not only in South Australia but on a national level, is that there’s a palpable frustration among the electorate. The federal polls reflect this sentiment, as they reveal a clear disdain for all of us,” he shared on Today.

“The truth is, no party is commanding 40 or 50 percent of the primary vote in current surveys,” he continued.

“Most are hovering around the 20 to 30 percent mark. This indicates a populace that is upset, experiencing hardship, and yearning for hope and direction,” he concluded.

The major political parties witnessed a significant shift of support towards One Nation throughout the state.

While SA Premier Peter Malinauskas secured a second term with a landslide win for Labor, the party’s primary vote still dipped slightly to around 38 per cent.

One Nation burst onto the scene with an historic 21 per cent of the vote, ahead of the Liberals on just 19 per cent.

Littleproud said Hanson’s promising showing in SA should spook the Coalition into action.

“The biggest mistake the Coalition made after the election was basically to abolish all policies, and that left a vacuum for Pauline Hanson to walk in,” he said.

“It also poses a significant opportunity. We’ve got a prime minister who is unpopular, not like Peter Malinauskas, there’s an opportunity there, but we’ve got to put out our policies.

“You’ve got to fight for what you believe in and people reward that.”

Hanson yesterday said a “clear message is being sent” as early poll numbers indicated her conservative party was securing a record primary vote.

“I want to take this opportunity to give a big thnak you to the people of South Australia for giving their trust and confidence to One Nation,” Hanson told 9News.

“This will send a clear message. I’m not going to stop at South Australia, I’m going to go to after the seat of Farrer… and then Victoria.”

Discover Dr. Dave Rabin’s Expert Tips for Natural Stress Relief

0

In the whirlwind of modern life, where work deadlines and family responsibilities seem to constantly collide, many find themselves teetering on the edge of overwhelm. Dr. Dave Rabin, a renowned neuroscientist and psychiatrist, offers insightful, science-based strategies to help you regain your composure without the need for medication. His expertise lies in stress resilience, and he provides practical tips to help you rediscover tranquility in mere minutes.

How to Manage Stress Naturally

How to Manage Stress Naturally: Dr. Dave Rabin's Calming Tips

Dr. Dave Rabin’s Easy Way to Bounce Back From Stressors

According to Dr. Rabin, the key to building resilience lies in viewing stress not as a burden but as a signal. He distinguishes between short-term “eustress,” which can be beneficial in building strength, and chronic distress, which can be detrimental. One of his patients, a high-powered executive, successfully transformed panic attacks into productive energy through a few weeks of dedicated practice, illustrating the power of these methods.

Enhancing your ability to bounce back from adversity involves incorporating daily resets into your routine, focusing on strategies like mindful breathing and engaging in playful activities. These practices can rewire your brain to become more adaptable. Research indicates that while 70% of adults report experiencing high levels of stress, simple habits can reduce cortisol levels by as much as 25%.

Take a Deep Breath: The 1-Minute Trick to Calm Your Whole Body

When stress peaks, your breathing often accelerates, signaling a danger response in your body. Dr. Rabin suggests countering this with deliberate deep breathing exercises, such as his 5-1-5-1 pattern: inhale for five counts, hold for one, exhale for five, hold for one. This technique activates the vagus nerve, quickly slowing your heart rate.

Whether you’re stuck in traffic or overwhelmed by a flood of emails, this method can be your go-to solution. Supported by research, including a Harvard study, these techniques have been shown to reduce anxiety in under a minute by balancing the autonomic nervous system. Dr. Rabin’s approach, which he calls the fastest nervous system hack, demonstrates why simple breathing exercises are more effective than complex routines.

Playing Every Day Helps You Feel Less Stressed

Adults often ditch play, but Dr. Rabin insists it’s essential for presence. Schedule fun like pickleball or dancing; it quiets the inner critic and drops you into now. He notes these moments slash rumination, a key stress driver.

One mother shared how daily play with her kids eased her burnout, echoing his point that joy isn’t indulgence. Data from the American Psychological Association reveals playful activities lower stress hormones by 20%, fostering emotional reset without guilt.

Turn Bad Stress Into Good Energy (Dr. Dave’s Smart Secret)

Not all pressure harms; Dr. Rabin distinguishes eustress, which grows you, from distress that traps you. Reframe challenges as growth fuel. His secret? View tension as temporary, then channel it via breath or movement.

Athletes use this to thrive under pressure, much like his clients do. Neuroscience shows reframing boosts dopamine, turning overload into motivation and preventing burnout’s 77% prevalence in workers.

The 4 Simple Words That Build Self-Trust and Cut Stress

Self-gratitude, self-forgiveness, self-compassion, self-love. These four pillars, per Dr. Rabin, flood your brain with feel-safe chemicals. Repeat them daily to build trust in yourself, reducing anxiety’s grip.

A client battling doubt whispered them during crises, gaining control. They work because gratitude practices shrink the amygdala, per fMRI scans, cutting stress responses over time.

Two Quick Daily Habits to Stop Worry Before It Starts

Dr. Rabin prescribes breathwork and movement first thing. Walk while humming or stretching; these shake off yesterday’s weight. Pair with focusing on controllables, starving worry’s fuel.

Users report 30% less overthinking. Since uncertainty feeds 80% of anxiety cases, these habits anchor you, as he advises.

How to Use Your Senses to Feel Safe When Stress Hits

Engage touch, sound, smell to signal safety. Pet your dog during arguments or sniff a candle as worry rises. Dr. Rabin says this overrides fear circuits instantly.

In one anecdote, a veteran calmed flashbacks by focusing on warm tea’s aroma. Sensory grounding activates calm pathways, outperforming distraction per clinical trials.

Feel Calm Right Now: Dr. Dave Rabin’s Favorite Play and Hum Tricks

Hum a tune or sway; vibration soothes nerves. Combine with play for double impact. These tricks, his go-tos, reset you in moments.

A stressed teacher hummed through meetings, feeling steady. Vibration mimics safety signals, lowering heart rate 15% in studies.

Why These Natural Tips Work Better Than Pills (According to Dr. Dave)

Pills mask symptoms; Rabin’s methods retrain your system via neuroplasticity. Breath, play, senses build lasting resilience without side effects. He cites how they outperform meds long-term by addressing roots.

Chronic users see 40% better outcomes, avoiding dependency that hits 1 in 6 adults. These free tools empower you, as he proves.

Zendaya and Tom Holland Make Public Appearance Amid Wedding Speculation

0

Zendaya and Tom Holland, known for their preference to keep personal moments out of the public eye, made a rare appearance together for a dinner outing in Los Angeles on Friday night. Their public appearances are infrequent, making this sighting noteworthy.

Accompanied by friends, the couple couldn’t help but share affectionate moments, holding hands and smiling brightly as they made their way across the parking lot. Their connection was evident, and they seemed to relish the time spent together.

During the evening, Zendaya, who recently addressed AI-generated images of their supposed wedding, linked her arm with Holland’s. He responded warmly, placing his hand over hers, a gesture that spoke volumes of their affection for each other.

Holland’s adoration was unmistakable, as he frequently cast loving glances at his fiancée, a testament to their close bond.

For the night out, Zendaya opted for a chic ensemble, donning a black long-sleeved top complemented by a white pleated skirt, which featured a stylish slit on the side.

The Euphoria actress, who appeared to be wearing only a gold band on her left ring finger, also wore her dark hair in a bob, a style that has been a recurring favorite of hers in recent years.

Holland, 29, kept it casual in loose trousers, a striped shirt and sneakers, along with a baseball cap and a sweater flung over one shoulder in case it got chilly.

It was the first time the couple had been spotted together since wedding rumors started spreading through the Hollywood community and beyond.

Earlier in the day, Zendaya was seen hitting up the upscale Bvlgari boutique in Beverly Hills with her older half-brother, Austin Stoermer Coleman, looking stylish in the same ensemble she wore to dinner that night.

On that occasion, she was wearing her slim gold band with the huge diamond engagement ring — given to her by her Spider-Man costar.

The $500,000 sparkler, designed by London jeweler Jessica McCormack, caught the light as she left the luxury Rodeo Drive shop in a black SUV.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Zendaya addressed the viral AI photos of her and Holland’s ‘wedding’, admitting that ‘many people believed’ the fake shots after her stylist said they had gotten married.

‘Many people have been fooled by them. While I was just out and about in real life, people were like, “Oh my God, your wedding photos are gorgeous,” and I was like, “Babe, they’re AI. They’re not real,”‘ she said.

Zendaya, who was on the show to promote her new movie The Drama opposite Robert Pattinson, said ‘many people’ in her own family were also fooled into thinking they’d tied the knot without getting an invitation.

Still, the brunette beauty remained coy when asked about the headlines generated over their supposed wedding.

‘Really? I haven’t seen any of them,’ Zendaya said.

The speculation that Zendaya and Holland have already tied the knot in a secret ceremony continues to grow.

Liza Colon-Zayas, who costars with the couple in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, fueled the rumors by reposting a blurb from Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, who claimed his client and Holland married on the sly.

The Emmy-winning actress, whose role in the franchise’s fourth installment has been kept under wraps ahead of the film’s July 31 release, tagged both Zendaya and Holland along with a heart hands emoji.

Colon-Zayas’s social media share came just days after Roach fueled the marriage talk.

On the red carpet at the 2026 Actor Awards, Roach said, ‘The wedding has already happened. You missed it,’ per Access Hollywood.

When pressed by a reporter, Roach confirmed with a laugh, ‘It’s very true.’

Later that evening, Roach told Entertainment Tonight, ‘The wedding’s over, sorry.’

Zendaya’s mother, Claire Stoermer, responded to the wedding rumors as well.

On March 2, she shared a clip from Roach’s Entertainment Tonight interview on her Instagram Stories and wrote, ‘The laugh….’ along with a face with tears of joy emoji.

Colon-Zayas and Roach’s teasing hints come after fresh marriage speculation erupted in February when Zendaya was spotted wearing a simple gold band underneath her diamond engagement ring while strolling around Beverly Hills.

Zendaya, who also seemingly flashed her gold wedding band in a photo shoot, and Holland continue to remain mum on the subject.

Chatter about the couple’s relationship status first began more than a year earlier at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, where the actress was seen wearing a dazzling diamond on her left-hand ring finger.

A few months later, Holland addressed the rumors in a charming moment during a panel event.

When an off-camera reporter referred to the Shake It Up alum as his ‘girlfriend,’ Holland couldn’t help but correct him with a laugh. ‘Fiancée,’ he clarified.

The couple first sparked dating rumors in 2016 when they were cast alongside each other in Spider-Man: Homecoming. At the time, insiders claimed the young costars had grown close during filming, bonding over shared experiences navigating sudden superstardom.

In 2017, reports surfaced that the pair had gone on vacation together, though both were quick to shut down romance claims – Zendaya cheekily tweeting that if they had gone on a trip, she must have forgotten the invite.

Nevertheless, their chemistry during press tours was impossible to ignore. From playful Twitter banter to sweet birthday tributes – including Holland once calling Zendaya ‘Mate’ in a post that fans still reference – speculation simmered for years.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2023, Holland explained, ‘Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of, and we want to keep as sacred as possible. We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers,’ he added.

Zendaya has been promoting her new movie The Drama, even stepping in as official witness to a wedding in Las Vegas to create buzz, and Holland is doing his part too.

The English actor took to his Instagram account to post the movie poster showing Zendaya and Pattinson in wedding clothes and urged his followers to go see the film.

‘I honestly couldn’t be more excited for you to see this movie and believe me when I say it’s gonna floor you. Get your tickets now!’ Holland wrote in the caption.

Despite the marketing ploy, The Drama is not a rom-com or a wedding movie. It’s a black comedy that features a disturbing twist that has left some early viewers horrified, according to TMZ.

Insiders who watched early screenings ahead of the film’s April 3 release told the outlet that audiences, expecting a lighthearted storyline, were left ‘blindsided’ by thickening plot.

Several viewers also thought it crossed a line into ‘problematic’ territory, potentially offering a sympathetic look at an unforgivable act.

In the film, produced by A24, Zendaya stars as Emma Harwood, a bookstore clerk from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who is engaged to Pattinson’s character Charlie Thompson, a museum director from London.

A week before their wedding, they decide to play a game with friends, where they all confess the worst thing that they’ve ever done. However, when it’s Zendaya’s turn, she reveals a shocking secret that leaves everyone reeling.

Besides Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Zendaya and Holland are both set to appear in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey, slated for release on July 17.

Analyzing the Shortcomings of “Landman” Season 2

0

While “Landman” captivated audiences with its debut season, the second installment left some fans underwhelmed. Whether it was Tommy Norris’ (portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton, the acclaimed actor from the underrated series “Goliath”) impassioned monologues, or the dramatic escapades of Angela (Ali Larter) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph), or even the portrayal of life in the oil fields, many viewers concluded the season with a sense of dissatisfaction.

Indeed, there were notable moments — such as Tommy’s clash with the newly-promoted executive Cami (Demi Moore) over leadership at M-Tex Oil, and the introduction of his grizzled father, T.L. (Sam Elliott), who is navigating life after the death of Tommy’s mother. Nonetheless, the negatives at times overshadowed these highlights, regardless of the earnest efforts from the show’s producers and actors.

Despite the confirmation of a third season due to impressive streaming numbers, there are several reasons why viewers might hesitate to continue watching. Here’s a breakdown of the aspects where Season 2 of “Landman” fell short.

“Landman” has always unabashedly aligned itself with the oil companies it dramatizes. Tommy’s tirades against solar energy are enough to make any Greenpeace supporter seethe, and the series hasn’t been kind to wind turbines and other non-oil-based resources either.

In Season 2, the show’s stance on this issue feels even more blatant than in its predecessor. Tommy’s speeches become more forceful, and the show’s reliance on traditional oil narratives remains persistently evident, with alternative energy sources receiving frequent criticism. While it’s understandable that a series focused on the oil industry wouldn’t pivot away from its core subject, introducing a bit more diversity in its narrative could enhance the storyline.

The oil company propaganda is little too thin these days

“Landman” has never been shy about the fact that it’s on the side of the oil companies whose activities it fictionalizes. Tommy has gone on the kind of anti-solar energy rants that would make the nearest Greenpeace activist turn bright red with fury, and it’s been less-than-kind about wind turbines and other forms of non-petroleum-based resources as well.

Season 2 feels a little less subtle to viewers than it was in Season 1 about its opinion on the topic. Tommy’s sermons feel more strident, and the show’s belief in bubbling crude stays irritatingly omnipresent, with alternative energy sources being bashed left and right. One doesn’t expect a show about the oil industry to suddenly stop caring about derricks and gushers, but it would be nice to see a little variety thrown in for the sake of the show’s storyline.

Tragically, it looks like “Landman” is set to continue echoing “Yellowstone” on the topic of environmentalism — and since that program “treated” viewers to shallow stereotypes like Summer Higgins (Piper Perabo), it probably won’t be pretty.

The show’s so super-serious that audiences think it’s a comedy now

Fans of “Landman” have admittedly gotten a laugh and a half out of Season 2 — though unfortunately all of that humor was unintentional. Who can blame them? It features a moment in which Angela loses her mind because of her period. Sometimes that highly familiar Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” universe feeling doesn’t land, and as a result, no one takes the show and its ambitions seriously. “I’m not pretending it’s prestige TV or something chasing Emmy’s. Angry Billy Bob makes me laugh. Sometimes that’s all I want in a show,” u/Spamburger_Hamburger said in the “Landman” subreddit.

Plenty of other fans think certain characters are over-the-top absurd, a problem that often comes up in relation to the way the program treats Ainsley and Angela. “The mother and daughter are tiresome one-dimensional cartoon character props that add nothign [sic] to the story,” said u/NoSmarter. Still, there are a loyal group of “Landman” watchers who think the program is trying to be funny on purpose. “The wife and daughter finding meaning to life by placating old people was hysterical. The show is great because it’s so ironically funny,” said a deleted user.

The female characters are flat and one note

Speaking of Angela and Ainsley — and folks like Ariana (Paulina Chavez) — the female characters in the cast of “Landman” definitely seem to be treated as lesser beings compared to their male counterparts. if Ariana must always brood, then Ainsley and Angela must always be overly-feisty pieces of eye candy, and Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) must always be steely and cool-tempered. Season 2 hasn’t done anyone any favors — except for, perhaps, Cami, who’s been allowed to show more depth and behave in a stronger fashion as time has gone on.

“I feel like the writers hate women. This season seems to highlight how insufferable they think women are,” remarked u/Free_Leg2765. Even those who aren’t apt to sympathize with people like Ariana admit that they think the show’s treatment of all of its female protagonists is less than stellar. “Im a 41 year old man who normally doesn’t give two f**** and I am insulted for women watching this,” remarked u/Life_Fuel2637.

It doesn’t have the feeling of Season 1

Season 1 of the show has been given plenty of plaudits from fans, who found its spare storytelling and smart look at Tommy’s foibles interesting. Unfortunately, Season 2 feels less special if only because the narrative balance is completely off. Perhaps it’s the odd behavior of the characters, perhaps it’s the way it the show put so much narrative weight on M-Tex and Ariana’s relationship with Cooper (Jacob Lofland, who appeared in “Mud” with Matthew McConaughey). In any event, Season 2 of “Landman” doesn’t end up feeling like a continuation of Season 1 at all.

Audiences noted the lack of cohesiveness as well. “Season 2 feels like a completely different world, a different story from season 1. The character dynamics have changed, the music has changed, the stakes aren’t as personal. It feels like it went off the rails,” remarked u/WaveFormTX.

“I loved season one. I felt like the show had a plot and just a certain feel to it. This season is just not the same and feels a little bit all over the place in some ways,” remarked u/moonlight10240. Agreed u/Ddave229, “Season 1 was a gritty western. It had me hooked instantly and had me looking forward to going home and binging after work. This season has felt like absolute slop. A whole lot of scenes without any substance.”

The Cartel plot takes up too much space

Danny “Gallino” Morrell (Andy Garcia) was moved front and center during Season 2 of “Landman.” Though he was introduced during Season 1 — in which Tommy takes quite a beating from his men in response to Monty’s (Jon Hamm) dirty dealings with his cartel — in Season 2 he tries to integrate himself with Tommy’s social set and tries to charm Cami. He eventually pressures Tommy into entering into a partnership with him. But the way the show used Gallino during Season 2 didn’t always work. He looms over Season 3, and that might spell trouble for a show that already has narrative balance issues.

“He seems pretty out of place with the rest of the show’s vibes. Not that I don’t like Andy Garcia,” remarked u/wedditasap. But some “Landman” devotees liked what Gallino brings to the table; the problem is that there’s not enough of him. “The cartel and Andy Garcia should played a bigger role like he take control of loans but uses mtex to move product and cash from the cartel and he implicates demi Moore, fbi involvement, take full control … starts war with other drug cartel and mtex employees get caught up in the violence with tankers and pumps being destroyed,” remarked u/FunKangaroo2943, with rambling accuracy.

Season 2 spent way too much time establishing Season 3

Speaking of the cartel, a lot of Season 2 feels as if it’s dedicated to establishing them as a major threat so Season 3 can resolve the problem. That means Season 2 treads a lot of water with Ainsley and Angela at the old folks’ home, T.L. fantasizing about his home health aide, and Ariana and Cooper’s romantic pas de deux, which has resulted in the two of them constantly locking horns and then making amends.

All of these things make no sense to “Landman” fans, who signed on to learn more about Tommy and watch more the M-Tex related plots that were heavily favored during Season 1. It’s hard not to notice the lack of careful balance between Tommy’s professional and personal lives, and for many it’s getting irritating because it feels like the show cares more about the future than the present.

And the wait for something — anything — interesting to happen has felt endless for them, too. “The season is almost over.. absolutely nothing of value has happened,” remarked u/johnnyhentsch. Why does the drama seem to be all build-up and no fulfillment? Because of all of that time spent foreshadowing Season 3.

“It’s like this season is “building” up for next season. Watch the season end with a cliffhanger or somewhat interesting ending for next season,” remarked u/DieselFloss. They later added, “There’s only what 3 episodes left. If anything is going happen it’s definitely carrying into next season. Nothings of true importance is tying up this season.”

The pacing is poor

Another problem with the second season of “Landman” is that the pacing is awful. Usually it is far too slow, which has neutered the show’s sense of urgency and failed to make every event in the character’s lives feel important. Hours and minutes seem to drag on when one watches the program — the ultimate insult to anyone who likes their action fast and furious.

That connects into previous complaints that the drama’s overstuffed with plot points, making it absolutely irritating to get through when you’re hoping that the slam-bang feeling of Season 1 will return. It’s a sense of momentum that’s only extant in Season 2 when it’s out in the field, coating its characters in blood and sweat.

Devotees of the series have noticed how awkward the rhythms of “Landman” feel as well. “It’s really moving at a snails pace. To the point now where I feel more annoyed at most of the characters rather than amused or entertained,” said u/SonicChairToss. Added u/thatsthatdude2u, “The show is dragging, wasting too much screen time on uninteresting subplots.”

Ariana and Cooper’s romance is far too central to the story

Then there’s the romance between Cooper and Ariana, which began with the young man comforting the feisty working-class girl in the wake of the loss of her husband. Over Season 2, the romance is serious enough that they become engaged. Their push-pull, fire-and-ice connection feels like a strange plot outlier in spite of the series’ attempt at integrating them with the rest of the story. Ariana’s insistence upon living her own life and keeping her own home and job has vexed audiences, and her willingness to throw Cooper out on his ear when she’s piqued just makes her look icy and stubborn instead of cautious and thoughtful.

Fans are definitely hot and cold on Ariana and Cooper’s connection as well. “I literally hate Cooper and Arianna so much it’s like visceral ughhhhhhhh,” said u/Sudden_Account_1600.

It’s also never a good sign when people feel like they can easily avoid whole storylines, and some fans say they’re doing that when it comes to this romance. “What’s made the season better for me is I’ve skipped every single Ariana and Cooper scene and feel like I’ve not missed anything because their romance plot has no bearing on anything else in the show,” said u/Pleasant-Escape9834.

It’s way too soapy now

The most irritating part of “Landman,” however, is how closely the show resembles a soap opera. From the romances to the ripe dialogue, to the lush locales and the over-the-top plot twists; plenty of people who hate the second season of “Landman” think it resembles love in the afternoon more than an Emmy-baiting nighttime drama. The first season didn’t delve as deeply into this sort of writing, and that makes it stick out like a sore thumb compared to Season 1.

Many balked at Season 2 because of that tonal mismatch. “Season 2 has been a snooze … it’s becoming a soap opera my grandma would watch in the 90’s …”, said u/Purple-Data-3965.  “It feels like a daytime soap opera with almost nothing to do with oil.” u/MTMax5-56_45-70 said.

To be fair to “Landman,” there are worse things it could do than resemble shows like “Dallas” and “Knots Landing,” which are still loved by fans of suds and catfights. Perhaps someday it will have a storied legacy like those programs — but if Season 3 follows in the footsteps of Season 2, don’t bet on it.

Bristol Resident Faces Aggravated Arson Charges Following Saturday Morning Apartment Blaze

A 27-year-old man faces charges of aggravated arson after a fire erupted in a Bristol apartment early Saturday, as reported by the City of Bristol.

Olivia Ponton, who is rumored to be dating Joe Burrow, was spotted cheering enthusiastically for the quarterback at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic held on Saturday.

The model and influencer, known for her massive TikTok following of over seven million, had prime fieldside seats at BMO Stadium. She was seen energetically supporting Burrow as he made his debut with the Wildcats FFC.

As Burrow, aged 29, took to the field, Ponton applauded vigorously and later raised her fists in excitement when he attempted a run for a first down.

Throughout the afternoon, she was seated alongside Kristin Juszczyk, the spouse of Kyle Juszczyk, who plays for both the Niners and the Wildcats.

Burrow and Ponton have yet to publicly acknowledge any romantic connection, though rumors have persisted since 2024, following her report of a burglary at Burrow’s Ohio home.

A police report stated Ponton came to the home and found a “shattered bedroom window” and a “room ransacked.”

Ponton could be heard in a 911 call telling dispatch that the place was “my house.” Cops later wrote in the incident report that Ponton told them she was “employed by Mr. Burrow.”

Paparazzi have captured Burrow and Ponton together minimally in the years since, though the couple was photographed leaving a Fanatics Flag Football Classic party in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Burrow didn’t give Ponton much to yell for in his debut with his new flag team — the Wildcats were rocked by Team USA in the event’s opener, 39-14.

BTS Stages Epic Comeback Concert in Seoul: K-Pop Legends Return After 4-Year Hiatus

In a triumphant return after a four-year hiatus, K-pop sensation BTS electrified Seoul with a free concert on Saturday. The event, held in the heart of the city, saw a central boulevard transformed into a secured venue, as thousands of police ensured safety for the Netflix-exclusive performance that attracted a massive crowd of devoted fans.

“Annyeonghaseyo! We’re back,” declared RM, the charismatic leader of BTS, as he greeted the audience with the Korean word for “hello.” The band launched into their performance with “Body to Body,” igniting a wave of ecstatic cheers from fans wielding purple-and-red light sticks and capturing the moment on their smartphones.

All seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—have recently completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. Now, they are eager to reclaim their position as one of the globe’s leading pop acts.

The concert at Gwanghwamun Square marks the beginning of an ambitious world tour that will span numerous shows across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Industry analysts predict the tour could bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each quarter.

This hour-long concert followed the release of their fifth album, “ARIRANG,” which debuted on Friday and sold nearly 4 million copies on the first day, as reported by their management company, HYBE. Despite RM injuring his ankle during rehearsals, he performed with a modified routine, showcasing the group’s dedication and resilience.

The BTS concert, which began at 8 p.m., drew several tens of thousands to the Gwanghwamun area, including 22,000 fans who secured free seats in the designated viewing zone and others who watched on screens nearby. The show was streamed live on Netflix.

“It will be amazing because it’s been so long that BTS (was) not with us,” Dallila Di Tullio, a 32-year-old fan from Italy, said before the concert, calling it a once-in-a-century event.

BTS debuted in 2013 and has a legion of global supporters who call themselves the “Army.” It became the first K-pop act to top Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 2020 with their first all-English song “Dynamite.”

Jung Dukhyun, a pop culture commentator, said that the impact of BTS’ return as a full-group would be tremendous at a time when global fandom for K-pop has grown much stronger, as shown by the success of Netflix’s animated sensation “KPop Demon Hunters.”

Stringent crowd controls

The dark streets blazed with light as waves of fans sang and cheered from cordoned sections, a jubilant scene that unfolded under an unusually heavy police presence managing the crowds.

“I still vividly remember how, at our last Busan concert a few years ago, we asked you to wait for us. Thank you so much for coming here like this,” Jin said.

The group performed songs from their new album, including “SWIM,” alongside hits like “Dynamite” and “Butter.” Some members appeared to tear up while thanking fans who braved the chilly night, before holding hands and bowing to the crowd to close the show.

Police and city officials closed nearby streets and roads, halted the area’s subway and bus services, and sealed off dozens of surrounding buildings, in what amounted to a full-day shutdown of the district.

Thousands of police officers maintained a tight perimeter around the performance venue, channeling the crowds with a maze of fences and buses. Concertgoers began queuing by midday to secure spots along nearby roads, passing through security checks and metal detectors at designated entry points. The restrictions forced nearby shops to close and police to use their buses to shuttle wedding guests to a nearby venue.

“I was hoping to (see) if we can go through some holes or be around. Apparently we cannot because they will be asking people to move,” said Bernice Sanchez, a 52-year-old fan from Switzerland, as she looked for a place to wait.

While South Korean officials have taken crowd safety more seriously since a 2022 Halloween surge that killed nearly 160 people, critics say the controls went too far and undermined the symbolism of performing in Gwanghwamun, seen as Seoul’s spiritual heart and most prominent gathering space.

Hundreds of thousands have gathered in Gwanghwamun in recent years to mourn, protest and celebrate as the country weathered tragedy and political upheaval. The BTS concert came about a year after waves of demonstrators filled the area, calling for the ouster of then-President Yoon Suk Yeol over his brief imposition of martial law in December 2024. Those monthslong rallies were marked by a festive atmosphere and a striking blend of politics and pop culture, with protesters singing and waving colorful K-pop light sticks, and ended without major safety accidents.

Drawing on culture and heritage

The new BTS album, “ARIRANG,” takes its name from a centuries-old folk song, regarded as an unofficial anthem in both Koreas, whose themes of separation, longing and quiet resilience have echoed across generations.

Gwanghwamun and nearby Gyeongbok Palace provided a sweeping historic backdrop to Saturday’s show, which was highlighted by lighting effects that bathed the palace gate and walls in purple, red and blue.

Suga told the crowd that the album’s title and the decision to perform in Gwanghwamun reflected the group’s focus on identity. RM said the band focused on making music that felt true to themselves as they reconvened to work on the new album.

“We wanted to show who we are and how we can come together,” he told the crowd.

South Korean officials, including current President Lee Jae Myung, expressed hope that the event would promote the country’s culture and soft power.

Group’s comeback coincides with K-pop’s global rise

The group’s comeback follows a nearly four-year hiatus driven by South Korea’s mandatory military service, which requires most able-bodied men to serve 18 to 21 months under a conscription system aimed at deterring aggression from North Korea. BTS members began serving in 2022, with Suga the last to complete his service in June 2025.

Some analysts say the group’s “ARIRANG” world tour could become the biggest K-pop tour ever by scale and revenue, with 82 shows planned globally in stadiums of around 50,000 seats. Ha Jae-keun, a cultural critic, said BTS was likely to have a “second heyday,” as they maintained a highly powerful fandom and would benefit from the broader international ascent of K-pop.

“We will do our best to give everything we got,” J-Hope said.

In a tragic incident in Michigan, a man allegedly shot his girlfriend in the back of the head in the presence of her children and then handed them candy before departing, according to law enforcement officials.

Zachary Fuqua, 39, now faces charges of second-degree murder, as indicated by records from the Macomb County jail, which were examined by Law&Crime.

Authorities allege that Fuqua is responsible for the death of 38-year-old Erika Sanders, which occurred on a Tuesday, as reported by WDIV, an NBC affiliate based in Detroit.

Prior to the shooting, Fuqua’s social media activities appeared to hint at personal struggles. On March 14, a post from his Facebook account ominously stated, “Going out with a bang.”

Just three days after this post, Sanders was at her residence on Sterling Street in Warren, roughly 20 miles from Detroit. She was accompanied by three of her four children at the time, officials reported.

At about 5:30 p.m., Fuqua allegedly shot Sanders in the back of her head in front of her kids. He fled the home, but not before acknowledging the children present, according to authorities.

“The defendant had no qualms with shooting his significant other in the back of the head in the presence of three minor children,” Jonathan Mycek, Assistant Macomb County prosecutor, said, according to a WDIV recording of court proceedings. “As he left the house, he gave the children candy, saying, ‘Here y’all babies go.’”

Police reportedly arrived at the home to find Sanders lying face down. Officers caught up with Fuqua nearby and arrested him.

A judge ordered the defendant to be held in the Macomb County Jail with no bond. He is scheduled to return to court on April 1.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle Poised to Impact Third State Following Northern Territory Landfall

0
Tropical Cyclone Narelle has crossed the Australian coast for a second time overnight but forecasters are warning it could hit a third state in coming days.
The severe tropical cyclone packed a punch as it made landfall in the Northern Territory, hitting as a category 3 system and bringing with it wind gusts of up to 185km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle is expected to weaken into a tropical low as it approaches Katherine. However, the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has indicated a “moderate” probability that it could regain cyclone strength by Monday, once it traverses the Top End.

According to the latest BoM update, “There is a moderate chance that Narelle redevelops into a tropical cyclone while in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf near the NT/WA border.”

Before its expected path takes it towards Western Australia, Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle is projected to affect coastal regions stretching from Birany Birany to Numbulwar.

A severe weather warning has been issued, predicting heavy and locally intense rainfall that could lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash floods in areas between Birany Birany and Numbulwar, including Groote Eylandt, and extending inland towards Bulman on Sunday.

The forecast for the area also includes very damaging wind gusts.

As the storm moves west, the bureau warns damaging wind gusts of 90km/h are possible between King George River Mouth and the border region.

Flash flooding caused by heavy rain is possible for the north Kimberley during Monday.

A number of flood warnings are in place across both states.

Queensland cleanup under way

Meanwhile, multiple flood warnings remain current in Queensland, which was the first state hit by the storm.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle swept over the Cape York Peninsula, narrowly missing populated communities.

Despite up to 400mm of rain falling in parts of the state, swelling creeks and rivers, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said the state escaped largely unscathed.

“It walked a tightrope perfectly between Coen and Lockhart River, and then ducked just south of Aurukun as it exited on the western side of the Cape,” Crisafulli said.

“The fact that it went right between two of the larger populated centres was a real blessing.”

Crews are now working to clear minor structural damage, fallen trees and fix power outages.

Authorities have warned it may take some time to get food and fuel to isolated communities after flood water cut travel by land, leaving the Cooktown airport as the only way to get people and supplies in.

Queensland is now offering assistance to the NT with storm clean-up equipment.

Florida Frenzy: Woman’s Alleged Rampage Targets Pregnant Driver, Elderly Bystander, and Police Officer

0

In a troubling incident that unfolded in Florida, a woman has been taken into custody after being caught on video allegedly assaulting multiple individuals, including a pregnant woman, an elderly bystander, and a police officer. The altercation reportedly erupted following a road rage incident.

Mandolyn Ann Shaffer-Brockwell, a 37-year-old resident of Orlando, faces multiple charges, including battery of a person aged 65 or older, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, burglary with assault or battery, and resisting arrest with violence. These charges were detailed in a report by FOX 35 Orlando.

The chaotic scene is said to have originated from a road rage confrontation on February 23, near the Mall of Millenia, as noted by the Orlando Police Department. The pregnant victim recounted to police that Shaffer-Brockwell persistently drove her vehicle in a manner that impeded her path, often braking suddenly. In an attempt to distance herself, the victim honked and maneuvered to change lanes.

Amidst the unfolding drama, an older woman who attempted to intervene was also attacked, and during Shaffer-Brockwell’s arrest, she reportedly bit a police officer. This sequence of events underscores the volatile nature of the situation and the swift response by law enforcement.

Authorities have since detained Mandolyn Ann Shaffer-Brockwell, marking a significant development in this alarming case of road rage turned violent encounter.

Footage released by the department appeared to show Shaffer-Brockwell getting out of her vehicle, running toward the pregnant woman’s car, jumping on the hood, and then forcefully opening the driver’s side door and allegedly hitting and punching the woman in the face.

The woman told police she had a child in the car during the incident.

“Honk at me again, (expletive),” Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly told the pregnant woman.

During the incident, an elderly woman who witnessed the fight got out of her car to help, according to the report.

“Get back in your (expletive) car,” Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly told her before scratching and hitting the elderly woman in the face.

Police shared a photo of the elderly woman’s face, with apparent bruising and scratches below one of her eyes.

One of the victims provided a description of Shaffer-Brockwell and her vehicle, and an officer quickly located her.

However, when the officer attempted to detain her, she refused to comply and violently resisted, according to the department.

Shaffer-Brockwell could be heard on video repeatedly cursing at the officer before biting his wrist while trying to avoid being handcuffed.

“Don’t bite me,” the officer said.

“Get the f— off of me,” Shaffer-Brockwell shouted back.

She was eventually arrested and taken into custody.
