Halle Bailey Opens Up About Motherhood: “My Emotions Run Deeper with Son Halo

Halle Bailey has shared insights into how her son, Halo, has sparked a transformation in her artistic expression.

In a recent guest spot on Live with Kelly and Mark, the actress from You, Me and Tuscany discussed the profound impact motherhood has had on her musical journey.

“Motherhood changes you profoundly. I find myself feeling emotions much more intensely, which is a fantastic catalyst for creativity and songwriting. It provides a wealth of experiences and a richer emotional palette to draw from,” Bailey explained. “The love I feel now is unparalleled. It’s truly remarkable.”

In another interview on the IMO with Michelle and Craig podcast, Bailey revealed that becoming a parent has encouraged her to express herself more openly.

In a separate conversation on the IMO with Michelle and Craig podcast, Bailey said becoming a parent pushed her to be more vocal.

“Like I talk about how now I’m like more stronger. I use my voice more. I’m not afraid to speak up. Whereas before, I think I’ve become accustomed to, especially in this industry, you know, you’re used to just smiling and being people pleasing and like, okay, sure, whatever you say. But when it came to him, I was like, no, like I have this urge to speak up for him. And that was something that was really different than the old me because it was a bit more timid and yeah, I would definitely say there’s always an edge, like a new edge for sure.”

Ultimately, she is just trying to be the best version of herself, professionally and personally.

“I think especially at my age, I’m just really trying to learn how I can be the best version of myself so I’m a better mom for him,” she continued. “The big standout this year for me is when I’m working, when I am on a film set, what it means to me to be able to bring my child with me, to travel the world, allow him to see the world too.”

Bailey welcomed Halo in December 2022 with her ex-boyfriend, DDG.

US Woman’s Disappearance in Bahamas Takes New Turn as Husband Suffers Injuries During Ocean Fall While in Police Custody

The husband of a Michigan woman who went missing from a boat in the Bahamas found himself in a precarious situation when he slipped off a vessel during a police transfer, according to his lawyer.

Brian Hooker, aged 59, unexpectedly fell overboard and sustained knee injuries and abrasions on Wednesday, stated his attorney, Terrel Butler.

Butler explained that Brian was handcuffed during the transport, and the rough conditions made it impossible for him to secure himself for safety.

Currently, the 59-year-old is being taken to Rand Hospital for additional medical treatment and evaluation, as reported by Fox News.

Brian had been detained by authorities in the Bahamas following the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Lynette, who vanished while they were sailing near the islands.

He was detained on the Abaco islands five days after he returned from the expedition without her, claiming she fell overboard.

Authorities first interviewed Brian and released him, then brought him back in as a witness for further questioning.

He was later brought in for questioning a third time, as a suspect, according to his lawyer.

The Royal Bahamas police said Brian was questioned ‘on probable cause’ and was taken into custody as a suspect in connection with his wife’s disappearance, but he has not been formally charged.

The couple were experienced sailors who had been traveling together for more than a decade, often documenting their life at sea on social media, authorities said.

On Saturday evening, they took out an eight-foot motorboat from Hope Town in the Bahamas, but only Brian returned.

He told authorities that his wife fell overboard with the boat keys as they were returning to their yacht ‘Soulmate’, causing the engine to shut off and forcing him to paddle to the shore.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Brian Hooker said he is ‘heartbroken’ by his wife’s disappearance, describing the incident as a ‘boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds.’

‘Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart,’ Brian said. ‘We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus.’

Brian’s attorney said his client ‘categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing’ in his wife’s disappearance, saying he ‘has been cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of an ongoing investigation.’

The couple’s distraught daughter called for a full investigation into the tragedy after she said her parents went through ‘prior issues’ before her mother’s disappearance.

Lynette Hooker’s mother, Darlene Hamlett, said following Brian’s arrest late Wednesday that she was ‘glad to hear’ about the arrest, but declined further comment, saying she was seeking more information.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hamlett said she wants to hear more from her son-in-law about how Lynette vanished.

The couple had been married for more than two decades and lived in Onsted, Michigan.

Online records gave Brian Hooker’s age as 58, and the reason for the discrepancy wasn’t immediately clear.

‘I’m going to be interested in what he says, because I haven’t heard from him in almost two days,’ Hamlett said.

‘Our family grew up on water and so Lynette her whole life has been near lakes, on boats, sailing and swimming.

‘It would be a miracle if [she’s rescued], but I’m still counting on one,’ Hamlett added.

On Tuesday, Lynette’s daughter Karli Aynesworth called for a full investigation into the events leading up to her mother’s fall.

‘There have been prior issues brought to my attention, which may be important for any thorough investigation,’ she told Fox News Digital.

‘If this truly was an accident, I can understand and live with it,’ she added.

‘However, there needs to be an intensive review of the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident before that can be determined.’

Aylesworth also told CBS that her mother is a seasoned sailor and swimmer, with over a decade of experience on the water.

She is unable to wrap her mind around how Lynette fell overboard and vanished.

Shocking Turn of Events: Sydney Hit-and-Run Suspect Reportedly Deceased

The family of a young lawyer fatally mowed down on a weekend morning will not get justice over the tragedy after the driver allegedly behind the wheel died. Ride share driver Zisi Kokotatsios had been accused of illegally using his phone when going to collect a passenger about 4am on March 17, 2024. He allegedly ran over 28-year-old lawyer Mitch East while driving through Tamarama in Sydney's east and failing to stop to help. Emergency services were called and attempted to revive Mr East but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The family of Mitch East, a promising young lawyer whose life was tragically cut short, faces the painful reality that justice will remain elusive after the alleged driver involved in the incident has also passed away. Zisi Kokotatsios, a ride-share driver, was accused of unlawfully using his phone while en route to collect a passenger around 4 a.m. on March 17, 2024. During this time, he allegedly struck 28-year-old East in Tamarama, Sydney, and failed to stop and render assistance. Despite the swift response of emergency services, East was declared dead at the scene.

Driver charged in fatal crash dies before trial

Kokotatsios (pictured) was expected to go to trial after pleading not guilty to dangerous driving occasioning death, and failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death. On Friday, Downing Centre District Court was told the 65-year-old had passed away. The criminal charges against him - which included two backup charges of negligent driving occasioning death and illegally using a mobile phone while driving - have been withdrawn and the case dismissed. He died on November 11 with a funeral held at Rookwood Cemetery later that month, according to an online death notice. Kokotatsios's criminal matter experienced numerous delays after his arrest in March 2024. He eventually pleaded not guilty at the Downing Centre Local Court about 16 months later.

Kokotatsios was due to stand trial after pleading not guilty to charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and failing to stop and assist after a fatal collision. However, the Downing Centre District Court was informed on Friday that the 65-year-old had passed away, leading to the withdrawal of all charges, including negligent driving occasioning death and illegal mobile phone use while driving. Kokotatsios’s passing on November 11, followed by a funeral at Rookwood Cemetery, effectively brought the legal proceedings to a halt. His case had faced numerous delays since his arrest in March 2024, with a formal plea of not guilty entered approximately 16 months later.

How HBO’s ‘The Pitt’ Helped Actor Patrick Ball Erase $80K in Student Loans: A Life-Changing Story

Television

Prior to his breakthrough on ‘The Pitt,’ Patrick Ball was contemplating stepping away from his acting career.

Patrick Ball was nearly ready to abandon acting when he secured his part in The Pitt.

“Around six months before the opportunity with The Pitt presented itself, I found myself residing in New Haven with my former partner,” Ball recently shared with Cultured magazine. “We had been together for three years, yet struggled to envision a future. As an actor, the uncertainty of what lies ahead, coupled with financial instability, can be daunting. I was actively seeking an exit strategy.”

At that point, Ball, who studied drama at Yale University, was weighing a serious career shift, including possibly joining the FBI or the Merchant Marines. But after a few more life twists – including a stint doing corporate coaching seminars where he played an employee who had to be fired – he was cast as Dr. Frank Langdon in the Noah Wyle medical drama.

The hefty HBO paycheck came as a massive relief, Ball said.

“I paid off my student loans like three months into The Pitt, and that was a really profound moment ‘cause I thought I was gonna die with it. It’s a huge burden to carry, and a lot of people carry it,” he said.

“I was $80,000 in debt and I had been through a series of failed relationships where my financial insecurity was a real problem,” he continued. “I had just thought that was going to be my life forever, and that is a really heavy thing to live with. Paying off those student loans and getting back to zero, I remember being like, Man, if this show works, great. If it doesn’t work, they can’t take that away from me. I am out of debt. No take-backsies on that.”

The Pitt Season 2 is currently streaming on HBO Max, with the season finale set for April 16. The show has been renewed for season 3.

Inside the Sudden Split: ‘Love on the Spectrum’ Star Abbey Romeo’s Heartfelt Words About David Isaacman Weeks Before Breakup

0

Just two weeks before parting ways, “Love on the Spectrum” star Abbey Romeo spoke fondly of her then-boyfriend, David Isaacman, during a podcast appearance.

Together with her mother, Christine Romeo, Abbey featured on the “We Need to Talk” podcast on March 24, where she expressed her admiration for Isaacman.

Abbey shared that she and Isaacman had a great time visiting attractions like the LA Zoo, Disneyland, Universal Studios, and the Griffith Observatory. She highlighted the qualities she appreciated in him.

“He says things that make me feel good, and he covers my ears when there’s a noise I dislike,” Abbey explained.

Christine also mentioned Abbey’s dedication to their relationship, noting how her daughter memorized the names of all 24 of Isaacman’s stuffed animals within the first week of dating.

Host Paul C. Brunson noted, “Love is an action, and by you memorizing those tells me, Abbey, how much you love David.”

Abbey simply replied with, “Yeah.”

But she later hesitated when Brunson assumed Isaacman treated her like a princess.

“Yeah, sometimes,” she said nonchalantly as Brunson laughed. “He’s done it before.”

Christine shrugged, “Four years into [the relationship], so.”

The beloved couple broke up after nearly five years together, the US Sun reported Thursday. Netflix has followed their relationship on the hit series — which revolves around people on the autism spectrum looking for love — since their first date in Season 1.

According to the US Sun, Isaacman, 31, and Abbey, 27, broke up because they didn’t see eye to eye on getting married.

“She was ready years ago, he still needed time,” the insider said.

The now-exes did candidly discuss marriage during Season 4 of “Love on the Spectrum.” Abbey admitted she wanted “to be a bride so badly,” but said that she feared getting divorced like her parents and didn’t want to “rush” down the aisle.

Meanwhile, Isaacman noted of possibly taking the next step with Abbey, “We can only be engaged whenever the time is right.”

Russia and Ukraine Reach Agreement on Temporary Orthodox Easter Ceasefire

0

In brief

  • Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a two-day ceasefire during Orthodox Easter.
  • The two countries have also exchanged bodies of soldiers ahead of the ceasefire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukraine will adhere to a ceasefire announced by Russia in observance of the Easter holiday.

According to the Kremlin, a temporary halt in hostilities has been declared for the Orthodox Easter period, with Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing his expectation that Ukraine will comply as well.

“In light of the upcoming Orthodox Easter celebrations, a ceasefire is declared from 4 PM on April 11th until the end of April 12th,” stated the official announcement.

President Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has consistently been open to mutual measures for peace.

“We suggested a ceasefire during the Easter holiday this year, and we will act accordingly,” Zelenskyy communicated via Telegram.

“People need an Easter without threats and a real move towards peace, ‌and Russia has a chance not to return to attacks even after Easter.”

Earlier on Thursday, Russia and Ukraine exchanged the bodies of soldiers, parliamentary deputy Shamsail Saraliev told the Russian news portal rbc.ru.

He said the Ukrainian side had received 1000 killed soldiers while Russia received 41 bodies.

The politician is responsible in the Russian parliament for matters relating to the “special military operation” as the war is officially called in Moscow.

The previous exchange of remains took place in February.

The office of prisoner-of-war affairs in Kyiv confirmed on Telegram that Ukraine had more than 1,000 bodies.

The authority thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross for its support.

Forensic experts would now examine the bodies, it said.

This is intended to rule out, among other things, that bodies of Russian soldiers were handed over by mistake.

The staff added that “after the identification of the deceased, the bodies will be handed over to the families for dignified burial”.

Russia and Ukraine exchange soldiers’ bodies on a regular basis.

Last year alone, Ukraine received back more than 15,000 bodies of fallen soldiers, according to official figures.

Russia received only a fraction of that.

Due to the slow but steady advance of Russian troops, the Ukrainian army is not always able to recover its own fallen soldiers.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion with help from allies for more than four years.

Legendary Hip-Hop Pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, Creator of Iconic ‘Planet Rock,’ Passes Away at 68

0

Afrika Bambaataa, a revered figure in the evolution of hip-hop, passed away in Pennsylvania on Thursday due to prostate cancer, as confirmed by his legal representative. He was 68 years old.

The news of Bambaataa’s passing was met with a wave of tributes from admirers, loved ones, and fans worldwide, who celebrated his significant influence on hip-hop—a genre that has become a global cultural and political force. However, in recent years, his legacy has been clouded by allegations from several men who accused Bambaataa of sexual abuse during their youth.

Bambaataa, a notable rapper and producer, gained fame through iconic tracks like the 1982 hit “Planet Rock” and was instrumental in founding the Universal Zulu Nation, an influential art collective.

Reflecting on Bambaataa’s contribution to hip-hop, rapper Fat Joe remarked to The Associated Press in 2023, “When you talk about Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, these are the three founding fathers of the whole culture.”

Born Lance Taylor in 1957 in the South Bronx, Bambaataa grew up during a period of significant decline in the neighborhood, exacerbated by segregation and economic neglect. By the 1970s and 1980s, the area was plagued by arson, as landlords opted to burn properties for insurance payouts rather than invest in repairs, leaving predominantly Puerto Rican and Black communities with limited economic opportunities.

Bambaataa had Jamaican and Barbadian heritage, and he was raised in a low-income public housing complex by his mother, according to an interview he gave Frank Broughton in 1998. He was exposed to music at an early age through his mother’s vinyl record collection.

The ability to repurpose and mix old hits became one of his signatures at the parties he began to throw in community centers across the neighborhood in the early 1970s, Bambaataa said in the interview. He was deeply inspired by the work of Kool Herc, who is often deemed the father of hip-hop.

Bambaataa and the parties where he DJ’ed swelled in popularity throughout the decade and well into the 1980s, when he released a series of electro tracks that helped shaped the burgeoning hip-hop and electro-funk music movements. He also was one of the first DJs to use beat breaks, incorporating the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine.

“We was playin’ everything, everything that was funky,” he said. He later added that what set his parties apart was that “other DJs would play they great records for fifteen, twenty minutes. We was changing ours every minute or two. I couldn’t have no breakbeat go longer than a minute or two.”

At that time, Bambaataa said in previous interviews that he was able to leverage his affiliation with the local street gang the Black Spades in order to form a group he called the Zulu Nation, a nod to a South African ethnic group that he drew inspiration from. His slogan eventually became known as “peace, love, unity and having fun,” and he said that he sought to use hip-hops’ ballooning popularity to resolve local gang conflicts.

Later, Bambaataa changed the name to the Universal Zulu Nation to signal the inclusion of “all people from the planet earth.”

“At the core our music made people feel like they belong to a movement and not a moment, our music offered Hope something positive to believe in, it gave people identity, unity, and a way out,” Ellis Williams, a producer known as Mr. Biggs, wrote in an email to the AP. Mr. Biggs was a member of the group Afrika Bambaataa and Soulsonic Force that included Bambaataa.

Accused of sexual abuse

In recent years, numerous people have accused Bambaataa of sexual abuse.

In 2016, Bronx political activist and former music industry executive Ronald Savage accused Bambaataa of abusing him in 1980, when he was Savage was a young teen.

“I was scared, but at the same time I was like, ‘This is Afrika Bambaataa,’ ” Savage told the AP in 2016. At the time he recalled, in detail, that encounter and four others that he said followed.

Bambaataa has vehemently denied those allegations.

After Savage went public with his claims, numerous other men came forward to share similar experiences about Bambaataa. In June 2016, the Universal Zulu Nation released a public letter apologizing to “the survivors of apparent sexual molestation by Bambaataa” saying that some members of the group knew about the abuse but “chose not to disclose” it.

“We extend our deepest and most sincere apologies to the many people who have been hurt,” organization wrote.

StubHub Agrees to $10 Million Settlement with FTC Over Ticket Pricing Practices

0

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has taken action against StubHub, accusing the ticket resale giant of failing to provide transparent pricing for live event tickets, in violation of the agency’s regulations.

In a significant move, StubHub has agreed to a $10 million settlement with the FTC following allegations that it did not adequately disclose the full cost of tickets to consumers. This settlement is set to return $10 million in fees to affected consumers, addressing the company’s breach of the FTC’s rules against unfair or deceptive fees.

“According to the Commission’s Fees Rule, ticket prices for live events must be fully transparent from the outset. This allows consumers to make informed purchasing decisions,” stated Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, in an official release. “Ensuring price transparency is critical for maintaining a free and competitive marketplace. This settlement highlights our dedication to ensuring consumers are charged the prices they expect.”

The FTC’s directive follows a warning letter sent to StubHub in May 2025. The letter highlighted that multiple price listings on the company’s website appeared to contravene the Fees Rule, which had been implemented on May 12, 2025.

The FTC’s order comes after the agency issued a warning letter to the ticket selling platform in May 2025 saying that multiple prices on its websites appeared to violate the Fees rule, which had taken effect on May 12, 2025.

According to the agency, the rule, says t is an “unfair and deceptive practice for any business to offer, display, or advertise the price of a live-event ticket without clearly, conspicuously and most prominently disclosing the total price,” which the Rule defines as “the maximum total of all fees or charges a consumer must pay for any good(s) or service(s) and any mandatory ancillary good or service.”

StubHub had advertised ticket prices without showing the full price to consumers after the rule had gone into effect, according to the commission’s complaint. In specific, StubHub failed to show total prices for highly-demanded NFL tickets ahead of May 14, 2025, when the season schedule was announced.

The ticketing platform must use the $10 million to refund consumers and is prohibited from misrepresenting the price of any good, service, fee or charge. The order also states that StubHub must explain why the fee or charge is being imposed in the total ticket pricing.

StubHub must refund customers within 90 days of the order. According to the news release, the two groups eligible are consumers who bought tickets for live events in the U.S. between May 12, 2025 and May 14, 2025. The first group includes those whose total price was not properly disclosed in the initial pricing display, while the second group encompasses consumers who bought tickets during that window.

Tragic Fire Incident: Four Lives Lost, Including Child, as Suspected Arsonist Allegedly Consumes Beer Amidst Havoc

The accused, a 38-year-old named Roman Amatitla from Maspeth, reportedly ignited the blaze without any apparent reason. The fire, which occurred in a three-story residential building in Flushing on March 16, claimed the lives of four people, including a 3-year-old girl, and left seven others injured, as disclosed by authorities.

Amatitla was apprehended on Wednesday and has since been arraigned on multiple serious charges, including eight counts of second-degree murder and first-degree arson. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence ranging from 25 years to life.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz described the devastating event as an “act of mass murder,” emphasizing the unsettling absence of any discernible motive behind Amatitla’s actions.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz called the incident an “act of mass murder,” noting Amatitla’s chilling lack of motive.

“Shockingly, the defendant had no known connection to the building or any of its occupants and selected the building at random,” Katz wrote in a statement.

According to prosecutors, Amatitla entered and exited the Avery Avenue building multiple times late that morning, at one point urinating in front of the apartments.

He then went to a nearby gas station, where he bought a beer, stole a second one and took a pack of matches after refusing to pay for a lighter, authorities allege.

He then entered the apartment building for a fourth and final time, authorities said, allegedly lighting a piece of paper on fire and tossing it onto trash near a stairwell.

As smoke engulfed the street, he stayed in the immediate area to watch the building burn.

During a court hearing Thursday, Queens Assistant District Attorney Gabriel Reale said Amatitla “watched as people jumped from various windows, some of them living, one of them dying” while sipping on a beer, according to a report from the New York Post.

Three of the people killed in the blaze, identified as Sihan Yang, 3, Chengri Cui, 49, and Chie Shin Ming, 61, were found in the building and pronounced dead from smoke inhalation.

A fourth victim, Hong Zhao, 64, died at a hospital after suffering multiple broken bones and brain trauma when he leaped from a window to escape the flames.

Among those injured were a New York City Fire Department (FDNY) lieutenant and a firefighter who plunged into the basement when a staircase collapsed during rescue operations, resulting in thermal burns and smoke inhalation.

Four other occupants were injured jumping from the building to flee the fire, while a fifth was rescued from a second-story window by firefighters.

Prosecutors said Amatitla “had to get his rage out on someone or something,” though no official motive has been released.

New York City Police Department records note he is from Mexico, though his immigration status has not been confirmed.

The Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.

Amatitla was ordered to remain in custody by Criminal Court Judge Thomas Wright-Fernandez and is scheduled to return to court April 13.

Trump Advises Netanyahu to Exercise Caution Amid Israel’s Ceasefire Threats

0

Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader delivered a stark warning following a reprimand directed at Benjamin Netanyahu by Donald Trump, who cautioned him against endangering the fragile ceasefire.

According to Axios, Netanyahu engaged in a phone conversation with Trump and White House representative Steve Witkoff on Wednesday. During the call, Witkoff reportedly advised Netanyahu to de-escalate military actions in Lebanon and pursue peace negotiations.

This request from Trump comes as the United States is set to engage in talks with Iranian officials in Pakistan, aiming to resolve the ongoing conflict.

Despite Trump’s two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran, Israel has persisted in its airstrikes on Lebanese urban centers, including Beirut, resulting in civilian casualties.

Iran has asserted that Lebanon was included in the ceasefire terms with the United States and is now threatening to withdraw from peace discussions and maintain the closure of the Strait of Hormuz if Israel continues its assaults on Hezbollah, its ally in the region.

US and Israeli diplomats deny that the ceasefire with the Islamic regime applies to Netanyahu’s ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Officials close to Netanyahu said Israel would not observe a ceasefire with Lebanon until a formal agreement is reached during the upcoming peace talks.

‘I spoke with Bibi and he’s going to low-key it. I just think we have to be sort of a little more low-key,’ Trump told NBC News on Thursday.

The new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said on Thursday in a statement that Iran will move the management of Hormuz into a new phase.

‘Iran is not seeking war but will not forfeit its rights and considers all resistance fronts as a unified entity,’ Khamenei added in a statement read on state TV.

He added: ‘We are still awaiting an appropriate reaction from our southern neighbors so that we can show you our brotherhood.’

Israel has rapidly escalated their attacks against Lebanon since the announcement of the US-Iran ceasefire, killing an estimated 254 people with air strikes, according to the Lebanese Civil Defense.

‘In light of Lebanon’s repeated requests to open direct negotiations with Israel, I instructed yesterday to begin direct negotiations with Lebanon as soon as possible,’ Netanyahu said.
