Matthew and Isaac Auchterlonie are 22-year-old twin brothers who were killed by police on June 28, 2022, Saanich shootout.  They are two alleged bank robbers who tried to rob a Bank of Montreal branch in Saanich, British Columbia, Canada.

Six police officers were injured in the firefight at the Bank late Tuesday morning. On Thursday, police also claimed they had to dispose of explosive devices found in a car affiliated with the accused.

“There are still many questions and investigative efforts that need to be conducted in order to completely understand what happened and why,” said Cpl. Alex Bérubé during a press conference on Saturday.

“The cause for the armed robbery and ensuing gunfight with police has yet to be identified. “The inquiry is being led by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU).

The Independent Investigations Office, the watchdog that looks into all police operations that result in death or serious damage, is also looking into the case.

Bérubé stated that police had met with the suspects’ families, who were helping with the inquiry. According to Bérubé, the brothers were recognized by the B.C. Coroners Service on Friday.

Investigators reported, that the individuals were “heavily armed” and wore body armor. It’s unknown how the two got their hands on the firearms used.

Matthew and Isaac Auchterlonie, suspects in the Saanich Bank Robbery, were slain by police, while six officers were injured, three of them seriously.

The attempted robbery and subsequent gunshot on Tuesday resulted in the evacuation of surrounding buildings and the issuing of shelter-in-place advice for some time.

At one point, it was thought that there was a third potential suspect, but police subsequently declared that they had “not unearthed any more indication” of that.

However, in a Wednesday update, police stated that, while they did not feel there was a risk to the public, they could not rule out the potential of a third suspect.

Police are currently investigating that possibility, attempting to ascertain whether anyone else was engaged or affiliated with it. Meanwhile, an apparent explosive device discovered in a truck at the location caused authorities to evacuate the area for many hours Tuesday.

“I’m speechless. “When you see the footage of cops racing into the line of fire to save the Saanich citizens to whom they swore an oath, what a call of duty,” Saanich Mayor Fred Haynes previously told CityNews.

According to the RCMP, detectives have reviewed hundreds of hours of security material and conducted dozens of interviews.

Earlier this week, the RCMP released photos of a white, four-door 1992 Toyota Camry with blue racing stripes on the hood and roof. They claimed that it was linked to the Auchterlonie brothers.

In the investigation of Wilson’s case, police believed that the main reason for the murder was the love triangle caused due to Stickland. Colin was seen spending much time with Moriah before her murder.

Similarly, on checking the surveillance video and photos, it was noticed that Kaitlin’s 2012 Jeep Cherokee was captured on surveillance footage near Morian’s residence on May 11, 2022, the same day she was shot to death.

After police got all the evidence in one place, they knew that Kaitlin Armstrong was the one who killed Morain Wilson. So, they put Kaitlin’s name on an arrest warrant on May 17, but she had already fled the state by then.

Armstrong was seen last at Newark Liberty Airport on May 18, and Investigators also found that she had sold her black Jeep Grand Cherokee to a car dealership in Austin, Texas, for $12,200.

After she fled the state, the authorities were still trying to track her down, and they succeeded as she has been arrested in Costa Rica. She was arrested from the hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica

After almost 43 days of tracking her, Kaitlin will now be deported to the U.S. where she will go for the murder trial.
