Rhapsody Of Realities 23 July 2026: Divine Destiny

Rhapsody Of Realities 23 July 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Divine Destiny

TOPIC: Divine Destiny (Rhapsody of Realities 23 July 2026)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end – Jeremiah 29:11

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

Did you know God never created anything without a purpose? For every human being, there’s an earthly destiny and a divine destiny. An earthly destiny is just what it is—earthly. It’s influenced by such factors as who your parents are, where you were born and raised, your friends, relatives, and everywhere you invest time. All these would have an impact on you.

The books you read, the films you watch, and all the information you digest, they shape your natural destiny. But there’s another destiny, the divine destiny, and it supersedes any earthly destiny. With that divine destiny, it doesn’t matter what these other factors are, they’ll not determine what you become. They lose their power to define you. God introduces a higher life that overrides background, limitations, and human circumstances.

For this divine destiny to become your real life experience, God tells you what to do. He gives you instructions and guidance so that the earthly destiny will not rule your life or determine the circumstances of your existence. The Word of God is the instrument by which you’re aligned with that higher purpose.

The Bible reveals that God’s plan is always good and for your good. His plan for you is great. He is great Himself, and He can only raise great men and women. That’s the way it works with Him. He cannot reproduce a failure. He can only reproduce a success. He can only reproduce royalty. So, when you follow His Word and walk in His guidance, the divine destiny becomes your reality, and the earthly influences lose their hold.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your divine purpose for my life which is higher than every earthly influence. I walk in the light of your Word, guided by your Spirit, fulfilling the destiny you ordained for me. I refuse to be limited by earthly background or circumstances, for I am the product of your greatness and the expression of your will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Gulf Coast Faces Devastating Floods as Tropical Storm Bertha Strikes

0

The Gulf Coast faced the brunt of a fierce tropical storm on Wednesday, leaving residents in dire situations as flooding overwhelmed homes and businesses throughout the southern region.

In the afternoon, Tropical Storm Bertha struck St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, located approximately 40 miles east of New Orleans. The storm unleashed maximum sustained winds reaching 45 mph.

Gusts from the storm extended up to 160 miles from its center, causing chaos such as a Waffle House sign toppling over onto a vehicle in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Forecasts predict that Bertha will maintain its tropical storm status as it approaches the upper Texas coast on Thursday. Consequently, late Wednesday night, the National Hurricane Center expanded Tropical Storm Warnings from Cameron, Louisiana, to Sargent, Texas.

Meanwhile, a Tropical Storm Warning continues for the Alabama-Mississippi border and the Greater New Orleans area. Many parks and piers along the coast remain shut amid the widespread flooding.

Flood watches also remained in effect Wednesday night from eastern Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

In West Virginia, Governor Patrick Morrisey sent hundreds of National Guard members to the hardest-hit areas in the northern part of the state after declaring a state of emergency for all 55 counties.

The state Division of Natural Resources has already been involved in 85 rescues, and 19 National Guard and state police helicopters were either out on rescue missions or standing by if needed, Morrisey said at a news conference Wednesday night.

Three shelters that were opened Wednesday housed a total of more than 100 residents, he added.

When he was then asked whether anyone was unaccounted for, Morrisey replied: ‘We don’t have an exact number but we are concerned about fatalities,’ adding that ‘as soon as we have more information’ officials will provide details.

‘This is a time for West Virginians to come together to do everything possible, not only to pray for all those who are affected, but we´re going to need a lot of help in the days and weeks ahead,’ he said. ‘Let’s help these communities rebuild.’

Forecasters said up to seven inches of rain fell in West Virginia, with Morrisey claiming some parts of the state received 4.5 inches in just 37 minutes.

‘There´s no place for the water to go,’ he said.

Video and photos on social media showed submerged vehicles in parking lots, including at a Walmart in Weston where muddy water surged far into the store. Across a nearby highway, a hotel’s main floor was inundated.

Emergency crews reported dozens of rescues of people stuck in submerged vehicles. However, some rescuers were unable to get to locations where floodwaters had cut off access.

But West Virginia was not the only state that was inundated with flooding as the closure of portions of Interstate 79, US Route 48 and numerous secondary roads.

In Alabama, vehicles were seen becoming trapped in the sand on the west end of Dauphin Island overnight as waves crashed onto the shore and water levels rose quickly, according to Fox 10.

Some bystanders were then seen grabbing a shovel and digging around the wheels of an SUV in a desperate attempt to free it from the water.

In Tennessee, Lisa Rocca told News Channel 5 her home’s foundation was slowly eroding from the flood water.

And at Ailor Gap Farms in Maynardville, Tennessee, owner Dan Woodcock said the remainder of this year’s harvest was wiped out from the flash flooding.

He told 10 News how the creek behind his property rose quickly during the storm surge, damaging about $8,000 to $10,000 in crops.

In the more than 30 years he lived in the area, Woodcock said he had only seen the water level get that high once before.

He also described Wednesday’s flooding as a once-in-100 year event, with the water rising four feet and taking out all of the crops in his garden.

‘This event carried fallen trees from upstream that had just been accumulating,’ he explained. ‘The trees and the debris or whatever wreaked havoc on everything, just destroyed it.’

Even though Woodcock said he built the farm to withstand flooding he ‘forgot about the debris.’

‘I should have known better,’ he admitted. ‘I mean, I was raised on the Gulf Coast and hurricanes. I should have known debris is what destroys everything more than water.’

Woodcock now plans on growing another crop to reduce the huge loss he is facing. But by the end of the season, the family farm may still be $3,000 to $5,000 in debt.

Despite the setback, though, Woodcock said he is not looking for donations.

‘It’s a big number and I’m on disability, so I have a very limited income. That’s two to three months’ worth of disability checks. So it’s quite an impact,’ he admitted.

‘But we don’t need too much here; everything we have is paid for, so we’re OK. We’re going to be fine.’

Instead of donations, Woodcock said he is welcoming anyone who wishes to help with the cleanup efforts – and is encouraging people to support him by doing business with him and other local farmers.

The heavy rains on Wednesday were part of wide-ranging storms – which also produced reports of tornadoes – stretching from the Cincinnati area across New Jersey to the New York City suburbs.

Damage from a possible tornado was reported in the area of St. Marys and Belmont in West Virginia.

Meanwhile, in the eastern Pacific Ocean, Hurricane Fausto churned hundreds of miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph.

It was forecast to gradually strengthen – with its swells spreading along the Baja California coast where it is likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip tides.

Tom Brady’s Surprising Political Ambitions: Could the NFL Legend Run for President?

0

Tom Brady, the legendary NFL quarterback, is reportedly eyeing a move into WWE, a decision that NFL insider Mike Florio suggests might be a strategic step towards a future in politics.

At 48, Brady has found himself at odds with Logan Paul over recent months. Their rivalry, heated during the World Cup final, shed light on behind-the-scenes discussions about Brady possibly making his debut with WWE. Brady, renowned for his seven Super Bowl wins, is exploring new arenas.

Despite discussions about his WWE venture, the choice was mocked publicly, with some speculating that Brady might be navigating a mid-life crisis in front of the world, according to Florio.

NBC’s Mike Florio reflected on the matter during a recent segment, sharing an intriguing idea presented to him by a reader, one that could hold more truth than he initially considered.

Florio speculated, “There are two perspectives here. It could either be an unusual mid-life crisis or perhaps, a manifestation of Brady’s relentless ambition, a thirst to constantly challenge himself.”

‘There’s also a chance it is part of a broader plan. Is Tom Brady trying to cosy up to the wrestling base when it comes to for running for office? I did research this morning and the idea of Tom Brady running for president is not some new thing.’

Florio then, correctly, discussed reports that Brady’s controversial former business partner Sam Bankman-Fried encouraged him to not only consider a political career, but also to consider standing against Donald Trump before he won the Republican nomination to run for a second term in office.

A report from Puck in February 2024 claims Bankman-Fried told multiple people around him that he wanted Brady to run for the G.O.P nomination and as far back as 2022 was sounding out if the quarterback could be convinced.

Bankman-Fried is currently in jail. In March 2024, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a massive fraud on hundreds of thousands of customers that unraveled with the collapse of FTX, once one of the world’s most popular platforms for exchanging digital currency.

Brady was one of several celebrities who endorsed FTX and was an ambassador.

Florio continued: ‘There is an article written after the Bucs won the Super Bowl explaining that Brady would be an idea presidential candidate at the appropriate time.

‘Sam Bankman-Fried was reportesly urging Brady to run in 2024. Sam Bankman-Fried, who was at one point a business partner of Tom Brady’s and is now behind bars serving a sentence for the various things that happened when FTX collapsed.

‘I don’t know how that hasn’t stuck to Brady in the way that it should but that’s a different issue. He did lose the value of the shares that he got when he became a sponsor of FTX.

‘But Sam Bankman-Fried was urging Brady to run in 2024. He thought that Brady would be a superior candidate to the person who eventually got the Republican nomination and won his second term in the White House (Donald Trump).

‘So, hey, we know how the world is now. You don’t have to be a career politician. You don’t have to have any experience running anything. Brady at least has experience in business, experience in sports, life experiences, name recognition.’

And Florio seems to think that a political run would be better for Brady’s reputation than picking fights with Logan Paul.

‘Maybe that’s the play,’ Florio said. ‘And the good news would be if he ever would run for president and win, maybe at that point Tom Brady would focus on one job and one job only.’

Brady works primarily as an NFL analyst for FOX on a 10-year deal worth $375million. He is also a minority owner in the Las Vegas Raiders.

His commercial work has spiraled in recent years, promoting everything from Pizza Hut to Duracell.

He has remained single since his divorce from Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen in late 2022 after 13 years of marriage and two children together.

Kristen Doute Condemns Jax Taylor’s Shocking Romance with Brittany’s Publicist

The Valley star Kristen Doute is making headlines with her candid thoughts on Jax Taylor’s budding relationship with publicist Lori Krebs, who also happens to be the former representative of his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright.

While appearing on the July 22 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Kristen, 43, didn’t hold back her feelings, dismissing Jax’s actions as expected and calling him “diabolical.” “To me, this is not about Jax. Jax is so diabolical … like, of course,” she declared.

For Kristen, the real issue lies with Brittany’s connection to Lori. Expressing her dismay, she revealed, “But with [Brittany] … this is Brittany’s trusted paid professional, a friend, basically part of her family for the past decade. It’s so totally deceitful. It’s her publicist. The one person who knows the ins and outs of everything.”

Kristen also expressed frustration over the backlash Brittany has received online, adding, “I’m tired of seeing everyone on social media come for Brittany and say, ‘You should have known.’ It’s like this woman’s sleeping with the enemy.”

Meanwhile, Brittany Cartwright herself has spoken only briefly about the situation. During the July 17 episode of her “When Reality Hits” podcast with Zack Wickham, the 37-year-old hinted at addressing her true feelings when she’s ready. “All I’m going to say about this […]” she remarked, leaving fans eagerly waiting for more.

Kristen’s The Valley costar Zack Wickham, who was in the audience for Wednesday’s WWHL episode, also gave his reaction to Jax’s new romance and didn’t hold back.

“I was actually this person’s biggest defender when rumors had come out before, because she’s been friends with our group for 10-plus years,” Zack, 38, said of previous speculation about Jax and Lori’s close relationship in 2024.

“I was actually very shocked. You know, she made her bed, and now she can lie in its disgusting sheets,” he added.

Vanderpump Rules alum Jax, 47, and Lori were spotted getting cozy at the Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallerta, Mexico, earlier this month, per photos obtained by Us Weekly.

An eyewitness told Us that the pair were seen hugging and showing PDA in the resort’s pool. They reportedly described themselves as “both happily divorced.”

Brittany, who filed for divorce from Jax in August 2024 after five years of marriage, has since addressed Jax’s new romance with the publicist they once shared.

“All I’m going to say about this at this moment is I will be speaking my truth — the truth — on this matter very soon whenever I’m ready,” Brittany said on the July 17 episode of her “When Reality Hits” podcast. “As of right now, I am focusing on me and the most important thing in my life, which is my beautiful son. And as of right now, I’m just trying to protect my son and my peace and very soon I will be telling [my story].” (Jax and Brittany share son Cruz, 5.)

An insider previously told Us that Brittany cut ties with her now-former publicist after the photos of Jax and Lori emerged.

“It’s very upsetting to her and she is sick to her stomach over it,” the insider said. “She is shocked that photos surfaced and that they are out in public. Lori was with Brittany through dark days.”

Houthi Claims of Attacking Saudi Oil Tankers Amid Continuous US Airstrikes in the Red Sea

In a dramatic turn of events, Yemen’s Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, declared on Thursday their responsibility for striking two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. Simultaneously, U.S. forces marked their 12th consecutive night of attacks on Iran, as both nations intensify their struggle for dominance over critical maritime routes.

This assault by the Houthis threatens to escalate into a broader conflict, igniting fears of further turmoil in a war that has already sent shockwaves through the global economy. Prices for fuel and various goods have reached dizzying heights worldwide. As tensions at the Gulf escalate, hopes for diplomatic resolutions remain distant.

The U.S. Central Command clarified that its ongoing airstrikes are aimed at significantly diminishing Iran’s capacity to endanger civilian mariners and commercial vessels navigating regional seas. This offensive is part of U.S. efforts to reclaim control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and to stabilize international maritime trade.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Donald Trump issued a stark warning: should Iran target a ship in the strait, the U.S. would respond by demolishing a bridge or power plant. This rhetoric underscores an escalating trend of both sides targeting civilian infrastructure.

International legal standards generally prohibit such attacks unless there’s evidence that the infrastructure is being utilized for military objectives.

“From this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT,” Trump wrote on social media.

Iran-backed Houthis say they attacked oil tankers

The Houthis said they had struck two tankers named Encelia and Layla in the Red Sea, leading to fires on both vessels. That would be their first reported attack on a vessel since they announced a blockade of Saudi-linked shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait earlier this week in retaliation for the kingdom’s blockade on Yemen and a recent attack on the international airport in Yemen’s rebel-held capital, Sanaa.

Bab el-Mandeb, at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, is a vital shipping chokepoint connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. Around 12% of the world’s trade, including a fourth of global container traffic, passes through the narrows, moving between Europe and Asia via Egypt’s Suez Canal.

Saudi state media reported that the Encelia was set ablaze by an attack while sailing overnight in the Red Sea, citing an unidentified source from the General Authority of Transport. The Saudi Press Agency reported that a strike caused a fire at the bow of the ship, but no casualties. It did not mention the Layla.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center, UKMTO, said it had received a report of a tanker being struck by “an unknown projectile” 70 nautical miles (80 miles, 130 kilometers) southwest of Al Shuqaiq, Saudi Arabia, in the Red Sea. It said no casualties had been reported.

Both sides dig in over Strait of Hormuz dispute

The continued American airstrikes are occurring as both sides have dug in on their dispute over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global energy that remains largely closed. The closure of the strait, through which a fifth of the world’s traded oil and gas passed during peacetime, has jolted the world economy with effects far beyond the Middle East.

Iran says it has the right to manage traffic and potentially charge fees in the strait, which was open to all and toll-free before the war. It has attacked ships using a route through the strait that is overseen by U.S. forces and intended to be outside Tehran’s control.

In response to Iran’s attacks, the U.S. re-imposed a blockade on Iranian ports and began the widening campaign of strikes across the country. On Tuesday, Trump signaled that U.S. forces could soon target an under-construction Iranian nuclear site buried deep under a mountain.

Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, who has led negotiations with the U.S., appeared to brush off Trump’s threats.

“We have repeatedly said that the situation of the strait will not return to prewar conditions,” he wrote on social media.

The costs of war are mounting

Trump traveled to Dover Air Force Base on Wednesday for the arrival of the remains of four U.S. service members. A day earlier Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth estimated in a fiery Senate hearing that the U.S. had spent $37.5 billion on the war so far.

In Iran, state media reported that U.S. missiles struck locations overnight near the cities of Ahvaz, Ramshir and Andimeshk in western Iran, and two people were killed in a U.S. missile strike in the town of Shalamcheh on the Iraqi border.

Iran has responded to U.S. attacks by targeting energy infrastructure and desalination plants that provide drinking water in parched neighboring Gulf countries.

Military officials in Kuwait said on social media that their air defenses were “confronting attacks by hostile drones, following the sinful Iranian aggression.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would adopt an “eye for an eye” defense doctrine.

“Any aggression against Iran, including our infrastructure, will compel a powerful and decisive response,” he posted Wednesday on X.

Diplomatic efforts show no signs of progress

Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni held meetings in recent days in Pakistan, a key mediator in the conflict, seeking to revive diplomacy. But it was unclear what new arrangement might be reached to end the war, which lately has become a battle for control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Interior Ministry spokesperson Ali Zeinivand said “diplomacy isn’t called off” and that messages were still being exchanged, without elaborating, according to IRNA.

An Arab diplomat said Gulf states are increasingly pessimistic about finding an off-ramp for escalating hostilities and are particularly concerned about the latest round of threats.

The diplomat said countries in the region, in addition to Pakistan and Turkey, are continuing to push for de-escalation but that chances for improvement currently appear bleak. The diplomat spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.

At a regional summit in the Philippines, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. remains open to negotiations with Iran, “but right now they don’t seem to be serious about that” so instead the focus is on protecting shipping.

Judge Demands Pentagon Explain Hormone Therapy for Troops After Transgender Ban Ruling

0

Left: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivers a speech in the James Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House, Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, in Washington (AP Photo/Alex Brandon). Right: U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes during her confirmation hearings in June 2022 (U.S. Senate/YouTube).

A federal judge has issued a demand for clarification from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth following the Pentagon’s recent declaration that it will offer “testosterone replacement therapy” to troops who express interest.

This request is rooted in an ongoing legal case initiated by Nicolas Talbott along with seven co-plaintiffs, challenging the Trump administration’s prohibition on transgender military personnel. They argue that the ban on transgender service members and their access to gender-affirming care contravenes due process by discriminating on the basis of sex.

On July 15, Hegseth declared, “Voluntary testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will be available for individuals with low testosterone, as part of the Department of Defense’s ‘periodic health assessments.'”

Additionally, the court has extended an invitation to the parties to include “expert declaration(s) addressing these issues” alongside their submitted briefs.

The Reyes order takes aim at an obvious bit of discord between the transgender ban and the new voluntary medical program.

The Trump administration has couched some of its complaints about transgender troops in terms of the recurring medical care some seek out — specifically hormone therapy. The Hegseth-led Pentagon has insisted that “[n]o funds from the Department of Defense will be used to pay for Service members’ unscheduled, scheduled, or planned medical procedures associated with…newly initiated cross-sex hormone therapy.”

Now, the government is offering certain troops hormone therapy as a matter of course and framing the new program as something of a boon to the military’s fighting efficiency.

Also on Wednesday, Reyes set a briefing schedule for the case.

Briefs are due Aug. 7, discovery requests are due Aug. 14, expert reports are due Sept. 4, and all responses and replies are due by Sept. 25. Discovery is expected to close Oct. 16, with summary judgment motions due Nov. 13 and responses due Dec. 14.

The post ‘The court must assess’: Judge who ruled against transgender ban wants answers now that Pentagon is providing hormone therapy to certain troops first appeared on Law & Crime.

Top 5 Major Book-to-Screen Changes in Rings of Power

0

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is poised to reach a crucial turning point with the release of its third season on November 11th, marking the midpoint of its planned five-season epic. The series has generated mixed reviews from viewers, largely influenced by the numerous creative decisions taken by showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay (both of whom remain committed to the project). These creative choices have driven the storyline forward while occasionally sparking audience debate.

A significant portion of these artistic decisions involves filling the narrative gaps in J.R.R. Tolkien’s original works. While Tolkien crafted rich tales, he left parts of the Second Age underdeveloped, unlike the detailed epic that “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy delivers. In “The Rings of Power,” some characters emerge with little to no dialogue in Tolkien’s texts, and events or places are often outlined with minimal detail, leaving much to the creative team’s imagination.

That said, Amazon Studios’ take is not just about fleshing out those gaps. There are instances where the narrative consciously diverges from Tolkien’s writings. These deviations range from subtle, like the intriguing “will they, won’t they” dynamic between Galadriel (played by Morfydd Clark) and Halbrand/Sauron (played by Charlie Vickers), to the more sensational, such as the polarizing moment when Elrond and Galadriel share a kiss. This scene sparked immediate debate but proved inconsequential in the broader storyline, as Elrond eventually marries Galadriel’s daughter. Then there are transformative changes that significantly alter the trajectory of the story.

We’ve identified five of the most notable changes that highlight just how far Payne, McKay, and their team have strayed from the original script in crafting the first two seasons of this ambitious saga set in the Second Age.

1. Timeline compression is wreaking havoc on Tolkien’s writing

Set amid the entire expanse of the Second Age of Middle-earth, “The Rings of Power” encounters its unique set of challenges. One major issue is the inclusion of numerous mortal characters whose lifespans are fleeting compared to the 3,441-year history they inhabit. To address this, the showrunners have ingeniously condensed this extensive period into a single, yet undefined timeline that fits within an average human lifetime, creating a cohesive narrative that maintains viewer engagement.

This dramatic change to the Tolkien timeline helps the writers rein in the narrative and avoid having to turn over the human cast every season (or sometimes every episode). It also means we can bond with characters like Isildur (Maxim Baldry), Elendil (Lloyd Owen), and even long-lived but still mortal Dwarves like Durin IV (Owain Arthur).

But it has also created a headache of non-canon changes that are already amplified in just the two seasons we have so far. Forcing so many different major events across centuries into a single narrative has thrown off countless elements of Tolkien’s original story. Galadriel’s history is muddled. The Rings of Power are not being forged in the correct sequence. (More on both of those in a bit.) Events on the island nation of Númenor are playing out in a few years that take an entire line of kings to tell in the books. Everywhere you look, things are sped up and out of order. They’re making it work in the show, but make no mistake: This isn’t the order, nor is it the pacing, in which Tolkien told the story.

2. The overblown importance of mithril is affecting everything

Anyone who’s watched Peter Jackson’s two Middle-earth trilogies knows about mithril. Thorin (Richard Armitage) gives a suit of the magical metal to Bilbo (Martin Freeman) in “The Hobbit” films, and then Bilbo (Ian Holm) gives the suit to Frodo (Elijah Wood) in “The Lord of the Rings” movies. The metal protects both Bilbo and Frodo from harm on their adventures. It’s light to wear, nearly impervious, and extremely valuable. But that’s about it. It’s still just fancy armor.

Not in “The Rings of Power.” The show takes mithril and puts it on the same level as the Rings of Power themselves. It gives the metal a special ability to amplify unseen magical properties and is a central part of the forging of the Three Elven Rings. It connects mithril with the power of the Silmarils (three ancient, hallowed Elven jewels), turning it into a life-giving, world-saving Macguffin that drives the Elven storylines for the entire first season of the show.

There’s no doubt that Tolkien loved his mithril a lot. He has mithril popping up all over Middle-earth lore. It’s even used in some of the Rings of Power themselves, including Galadriel’s ring, Nenya. But even its presence in that ring in the books isn’t overblown. It gives the Elven Lady’s ring a sense of grandeur, but it doesn’t enhance its powers. No matter how you slice it, mithril just isn’t as important in Tolkien’s books as what JD Payne and Patrick McKay have turned it into in their adaptation.

3. The Rings of Power are forged out of order

In the show, Halbrand (aka Sauron in disguise) helps Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) forge the Three Elven Rings in Season 1. Then Halbrand returns as Annatar, Lord of Gifts, in Season 2 and forges the Seven Dwarven Rings with Celebrimbor before capturing and forcing the Elven smith to also create the Nine Rings for Mortal Men. All that’s left (which we can definitely expect to see in Season 3) is the forging of the One Ring to rule them all.

Great, right? We’ve got all 20 rings from the Ring-verse. The only issue? The order in which the overpowered trinkets are forged. In the books, we get the Seven and the Nine first, then the Three, and then the One. Writer Gennifer Hutchison told Looper the reason for the reorganized forging when the Season 1 finale aired, saying, “This season was about tracking the Elves and their story.” Okay, so they moved the Three Rings to the front of the line. Why does that matter? Context.

In Tolkien’s original story, there is no Halbrand. Instead, Sauron shows up as Annatar and helps teach Celebrimbor and his smiths to make the Seven and the Nine. Eventually, Sauron leaves, and Celebrimbor critically makes the Three Elven Rings without the Dark Lord present. Then Sauron makes the One Ring, which he uses to control the 16 Rings for Men and Dwarves. But the Elven rings? They are made last, at the peak of the craft, and Sauron doesn’t touch them, nor can he claim them with the same legitimacy as the 16 he helped forge. It’s a big shift on a fundamental level, but don’t expect the show to spend much time dwelling on it.

4. Gandalf’s story arc in the book doesn’t include the Second Age

One of the more fun random subplots of the show so far has been the arrival of a mysterious man via fireball in Episode 1 of Season 1. This “Meteor Man” turned out to be, drum roll please, The Stranger (Daniel Weyman). Yep, that was his frustratingly cryptic name — for two whole seasons. It wasn’t until the finale of Season 2 that we got confirmation of The Stranger’s real identity. He’s Gandalf, folks (as if we didn’t see that one coming). The Grey Wizard is here to fight off Sauron. All will be well.

The only issue? Gandalf is nowhere near Middle-earth during the Second Age in Tolkien’s writings. He’s presumably at home, on the other side of the ocean in the Undying Lands in the West. The appendices of “The Return of the King” mention that “when maybe a thousand years had passed [into the Third Age] … the Istari or Wizards appeared in Middle-earth.” So the one thing we know for sure is that Gandalf arrives thousands of years later than he does in “The Rings of Power.”

In the book “Unfinished Tales,” Tolkien reworks some of the lore, but even then, it’s mainly the Blue Wizards who may have arrived during the Second Age, not Gandalf. The point? Having a Wizard in a Second Age story is okay. Tolkien wasn’t clear on that. But Gandalf? There’s nothing to clarify that he was around at this time. There’s a vague, undeveloped note about the Five Wizards being around in the First Age, and we know for sure they were back by the Third Age, but there’s nothing about the Grey Wizard in between.

5. The story for Galadriel’s husband, Celeborn, is way off

Galadriel overshadows her husband, Celeborn, every time she shows up in Tolkien’s writings, but he’s there, nonetheless — and not just occasionally. Once Galadriel and Celeborn meet in the First Age, they are nearly inseparable. (There are a couple of points where they split up, but it’s really rare.) Tolkien even wrote a chapter of “Unfinished Tales” called “The History of Galadriel and Celeborn.” Despite being in his partner’s shadow, Celeborn is also a fearsome warrior and wise leader in his own right.

That isn’t what we get in “The Rings of Power.” It took until Season 3 for Celeborn to finally show up (officially confirmed to be played by Jamie Campbell Bower). Before that, all we got was a brief reference in Season 1 about Galadriel calling him a “silver clam” before he went off to war and never came back. There’s that timeline warping again. Celeborn is finally entering the story halfway in, but there is still an issue, and it’s even bigger than the Rings of Power forging conundrum.

By the time of the events of “The Rings of Power,” Galadriel and Celeborn are supposed to have had their daughter Celebrían. In fact, she’s supposed to be centuries old — old enough that when she meets Elrond (Robert Aramayo) at some point in the near future, they’ll fall in love. Instead, Celeborn is just entering the picture (it’ll be interesting to see how they explain his absence so far), Celebrían doesn’t seem to exist yet, and Elrond kisses Galadriel (his future mother-in-law) in Season 2. This is a massive plothole JD Payne and Patrick McKay are going to need to explain post-haste in Season 3, so fans can connect the adapted dots and hopefully breathe easier again.

Amy Duggar King Opens Up About Conversations with Joseph Duggar’s Alleged Victim

0

Amy Duggar King has come forward with a supportive outreach to the alleged victim linked to Joseph Duggar.

Speaking exclusively to Oxygen, the former star of 19 Kids and Counting shared that she recently extended a helping hand and compassion to the individual involved in the allegations against Duggar.

“My intention was to be a source of support and to let her know she’s not alone in this,” she said earnestly. “I wanted to convey that I believe in her, that she’s acknowledged, and sincerely has my sympathy. We are maintaining contact,” she continued.

Amy emphasized her desire for the alleged victim’s story to be heard despite the Duggar family’s high-profile stature overshadowing it.

“Too often, media attention fixates on the perpetrator,” she remarked. “They dominate the headlines, while the victim is left to endure the struggle, desperately needing to feel loved and safeguarded. She should be surrounded by support. Abusers attempt to mute your voice and diminish your empowerment, stripping away your essence. I want her to always feel valued and recognize her own worth.”

The Holy Disruptor author said she feels “so proud” of the alleged victim for speaking out.

“I’m so proud at a young age, even when she’s that young that she knew it was wrong and that she stood up for what was what was right. That is such a beautiful, beautiful virtue just to have that truth and to be able to say, like, I don’t care, despite the backlash that I am going to receive,” Amy said. “That it’s worth speaking up about. And so I hope that it opens up the floodgates for more survivors and more victims to come forward.”

Amy’s comments come after her cousin Joseph was accused of allegedly molesting a then 9-year-old while on vacation. Joseph, who is currently awaiting trial, plead not guilty to all charges, People reports.

Duggar was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor after the Bay County Sheriff’s Office alleged in a statement that he’d molested an underage girl while on a family vacation in 2020 in Panama City Beach, Fla.

What Is Joseph Duggar Accused Of?

According to the sheriff’s office, a forensic interview was conducted on the minor, who was 14-years-old in March 2026, where she disclosed “several incidents” involving the reality star that allegedly took place years prior while the family was staying at a vacation home on Danny Drive.

“The victim reported Duggar repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap. As the vacation continued, he also asked her to sit next to him on a couch and covered them with a blanket,” the sheriff’s office alleged. “During this time, Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals.”

Authorities said Duggar “would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs.”

The girl told investigators that Duggar later apologized for his actions and the alleged abuse stopped.

The minor told her father about the alleged incidents on March 17, according to the sheriff’s office. When confronted by the girl’s father and Tontitown Police detectives in Arkansas, the sheriff’s office said Duggar “admitted to his actions.”

Tontitown Police said in a statement of their own that they took the 31-year-old into custody around 3 p.m. on March 18 after receiving a warrant from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

“This incident did not occur in Tontitown,” police said. “Our officers assisted the victim, the family, and the agency with jurisdiction over the case.”

Oxygen previously reached out to the Duggar family for comment, but didn’t receive a reply.

ICE Demands North Carolina Jail Illegal Immigrant Over Triple-Fatal Hit-and-Run

Meanwhile, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in North Carolina is urging local authorities to retain an illegal immigrant in custody following his involvement in a deadly hit-and-run. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals.

The suspect, Javiel Pena Sola, a native of El Salvador, is accused of hitting and killing three individuals in a car on July 18 in Salisbury. After allegedly fleeing the scene, law enforcement officials, aided by a police K-9 unit, successfully apprehended him, ICE disclosed.

Tragically, two of the victims were pronounced dead at the crash site, while a third succumbed to their injuries after being airlifted to a nearby hospital.

“I heard people screaming … and they pulled the man out; and as they pulled him out, he started screaming,” witness Quindel Woods told WSOC-TV.

Sola’s vehicle was later found in a creek. He is charged with three counts of hit-and-run involving serious injury or death.

ICE has lodged a detainer with local authorities to keep him in custody.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said Sola was arrested in 2016 but was released. She said he entered the United States through Arizona in April 2022.

“Although ICE had arrested him in 2016, the Obama Administration RELEASED him into American communities,” she said. “These deaths were 100% preventable. Open borders and sanctuary policies have deadly consequences.”

Sola’s criminal history includes prior convictions for reckless endangerment, failure to stop after an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, and driving without a license in Maryland in July 2015, as well as an arrest for escaping from custody.

After his arrest in Maryland on charges of escaping from custody, law enforcement officials in Baltimore honored an ICE detainer and turned him over to federal agents in March 2016. He was then released by the Obama administration two months later, ICE said.
