Greene County and Cherokee National Forest Join Forces with $3.1 Million Helene Recovery Plan

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — An unprecedented agreement was formalized on Friday as Greene County leaders joined forces with officials from the Cherokee National Forest. The special accord focuses on speeding up recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation.

The landmark signing event took place at the Horse Creek Recreation Area, where it was announced that a substantial $3.1 million in federal funding has been secured. This grant, provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service under the Good Neighbor Agreement program, earmarks funds to bolster recovery efforts.

Describing the pact as an historic alliance, leaders emphasized its importance. The agreement, set to last for a potential five years, aims to enhance coordination between Greene County and the Cherokee National Forest in tackling disaster recovery and planning for future enhancement projects.

Among the dignitaries present was Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison. He expressed his excitement about this innovative partnership and stressed the urgency of repairing the affected areas.

“Greene County sustained about 165 million worth of damage, 35 million in private property infrastructure damage, and another 135 million in public property infrastructure damage, most notably to our water delivery system, and the parks didn’t escape that,” Morrison told News Channel 11.

The recovery plan includes a complete redesign of the Horse Creek Recreation Area, new wayfinding signage throughout Greene County and the Cherokee National Forest, stormwater recovery projects and funding for Greene County to hire a disaster recovery engineer.

Officials said the agreement is intended to address damage caused by Hurricane Helene while also improving recreational opportunities and the overall visitor experience.

Greene County Partnership (GCP) Director Jeff Taylor emphasized how historic this agreement is for both Greene County and the Cherokee National Forest, as both are historic and tourist areas.

“This is the first agreement of its kind in the country, so we’re very excited to be leading restoration and facilitating improvements in our national force across the country,” Taylor said.

In addition to rebuilding infrastructure, the partnership focuses on the long-term stewardship of public recreation areas and expanding outdoor access throughout the national forest.

During Friday’s ceremony, local and federal leaders said the Good Neighbor Agreement represents a significant investment in both the county’s recovery and the future of one of Northeast Tennessee’s most popular outdoor destinations.

Morrison added that he is excited that recovery and relief efforts are underway.

“We think it’s going to be a great partnership,” Morrison said. “We’ve always maintained a good partnership with the forest service, and this is only going to be sort of the culmination of that.”

Officials expect projects funded through the agreement to move forward over the next several years as recovery efforts continue.

Yaxel Lendeborg Shares Comedic Encounter with Neighboring Locker Partner Steph Curry

Chosen by the Warriors as the 11th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Yaxel Lendeborg has been busy acclimating to his new surroundings.

Lendeborg amusingly discovered that his locker is stationed right next to the legendary Steph Curry, a future Hall of Famer.

At his introductory press conference with the Warriors, Lendeborg quipped about his childhood disdain for Curry, admitting he was a huge fan of Kyrie Irving back then.

Upon seeing his locker, Lendeborg erupted in laughter, asking, “Did y’all assign this spot intentionally?”

Right after questioning the placement of his locker, Lendeborg joyfully approached it, thrilled at the opportunity to be close to one of the NBA’s all-time greatest shooters.

Filled with emotions, Lendeborg was told by someone in the group made up of Warriors officials and friends and family members of his and second-round pick Lajae Jones, “They say if you sit close to someone, their shooting skills will rub off on you.” To which Lendeborg jokingly replied and said, “I need that. I definitely need that.”

Regardless of how Lendeborg felt about Curry and the Warriors before, that all seems to be in the past. The young rookie was thrilled to see his locker, with his jersey hanging inside for the first time. He asked if he was allowed to hold it.

Standing in front of his locker with his jersey in his hands for the first time, Lendeborg was emotional and admitted he was about to cry again.

When Jones saw his locker for the first time, he was also in disbelief, as the two young stars realized their dreams were now reality.

Former TV Executive Regrets Promoting Unrealistic Body Ideals to Millions

0

For many years, I held the role of a creative director in the advertising world; a bit like Don Draper from Mad Men, though my habits were less about sipping Old Fashioneds at my desk. Instead, I indulged in Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Cool Ranch Doritos, stashed away in my filing cabinet, all washed down with a chilled can of classic Coke.

I often found myself in a state of worry. The fear of smudging my PowerPoint presentations with chocolate and cheese dust terrified me, lest it reveal that I was far from the fit athletes, petite pop stars, and teen idols that I crafted campaigns around.

Little did I realize, my own body had long been revealing my secret. Standing at five foot two and approaching 300 pounds, my hidden embarrassment was practically emblazoned on the seat belt extenders I used frequently on my flights between JFK and LAX—like some ironic pageant sash declaring me as ‘Little Miss Food Addict 2018.’

Despite this, I managed to ascend to the pinnacle of an industry built on aspiration, even though I never embodied that ideal myself. Growing up in a sunny, coastal town in Florida, I was the sweaty, overweight child always chosen last in gym class.

My dimpled thighs were a source of ridicule, and school dances were a reminder that no one asked me to join them on the dance floor. I rarely saw anyone who resembled me on television, in films, magazines, or advertisements.

Still, after graduating from college in 1999, I moved to New York to begin my dream career in the media business. I understood women like me had no future in front of the camera, so I took my place happily behind it.

In fact, the more I internalized my understanding of my place in the advertising business – invisible and in service to people more attractive than me – the more success I was granted.

With each new big job I landed, I spent more of my days schmoozing with the world’s most beautiful people. But I got it: They would always be them and I would always be me.

As SVP of Brand Creative at Comedy Central, Chekowsky oversaw the promotional ad for the Roast of Justin Bieber

In all my executive-level jobs at companies like Wieden+Kennedy, the ad agency for Nike, MTV, Comedy Central and Facebook, I was grateful to spend my days breathing the same air as some of the world’s most famous people I was responsible for making more famous, even if it meant a big part of my job was understanding how their bodies would always be worth more than mine.

For a few years early in my career, I thought maybe I could change things from the inside; that I could put more people that looked like me in my final product. But the deeper I fell into the image machine, the more it became clear that would never be possible.

No one buys things when they like themselves. There always has to be an unattainable version of a person we have to chase to try and become. That’s just capitalism.

So I left that dream behind, and instead gladly gave notes to the photo retoucher about how an actress’s belly wasn’t flat enough to be featured on a Times Square billboard. Then, later that night, I’d go home and order a 10-pound bag of Chinese food to binge alone to try and swallow my disappointment in myself.

For most of my career, I sold the promise of perfection while I was fat, sick and out of frame.

That whole time, my body was screaming at me to take better care of myself, but I ignored it. There was never any time to consider the state of my health in the present because I was always too busy working on behalf of The Future.

This is because The Future is the only place advertising can exist. It is why ads are always talking about the ‘future you,’ the ‘brighter tomorrow,’ the ‘happiness that’s waiting for you,’ after you’ve bought the right things in the right order.

Manufacturing The Future made me feel powerful. I was a real-world fortune teller, not like one of those fraudsters with a flashing neon palm-reading sign outside a storefront on St. Marks Place in New York. I knew exactly what people would be obsessing about long before they did because it was my responsibility to implant a steady stream of obsessions, and fears and anxieties and dreams, deep into their brains.

It was my job to pull people’s attention away from the truth of their own lives long enough to convince them they needed to buy a different one.

My Future work took so much energy. It was always on me to stay one step ahead of the trends so I could anticipate how to keep audiences wanting more by producing new, sparkly stuff for them to covet.

This meant I couldn’t just work in The Future; I also had to live there. So, I got myself a cute studio apartment on the corner of I’ll Deal with It Later Street and One Day I’ll Figure It Out Boulevard, where every day was filled with a long list of things ‘to do later, when I’m not busy,’ or ‘after the shoot,’ or ‘when I’m back from LA.’

But that time never came. Instead, every minute was filled with a rainbow of rectangular, neon calendar invites for dumb meetings and red exclamation emails that required me to respond that second to another Hollywood emergency.

My body became an afterthought. Mammograms went un-mammo’ed. One-hundred-and-seventy-five-dollar-per-month Equinox memberships mocked me for nonuse on my credit card statement. Lettuce after lettuce after yet another lettuce went uneaten in the moldy crisper drawer in favor of DoorDash or expense account dinners or bags of Pepperidge Farm Mint Milano Cookies I’d consume in one sitting.

The Future was where I’d promised myself I’d eventually – one day soon – finally get to the annoying business of my body and my mind. In the meantime, there were year-end targets to hit.

I was always living so far ahead in The Future that I couldn’t see the billion ways I was hurting myself in The Present with food, bad men and the meditation tapes of self-loathing I played on a loop for myself every night like lullabies.

I wanted to believe that tomorrow could always be better, just like the ads I made promised everyone, as if The Future were some kind of Clinique counter, handing out gifts with purchase. Buy this mascara and get a lifetime supply of happiness, safety and health for free.

The Past was a thing I tried not to think about that much, even though I dragged it behind me everywhere I went. I looked at my past the same way I’d watch horror movies: with my hands covering my eyes, barely peeking out through my fingers.

I never took too long a look at where I’d come from; I just kept wishing The Past could have been less disappointing than it was.

Mostly, I thought about my past in advertising terms: I’d had a crappy before and I wasn’t going to be happy until I became a full-fledged after.

I lived like that as long as I could, always months and years ahead of where I stood, until one day The Future and I had a falling out. It turned out no matter how many ads I made about product launches, sales goals, celebrities or world-changing technology, I hadn’t once stopped to notice how none of this work I was doing on behalf of The Future guaranteed I’d get to have one for myself.

I was stuck. Like I was inside a scene in one of those old movies where the characters get lost in the desert, so they start to imagine there’s a lake of cool, fresh water nearby. They crawl on their hands and knees to get to it, but every time they get closer, the lake keeps moving farther away and only after scooping fistfuls of dry sand into their parched mouths do they learn the truth – the lake was always a mirage. There was never any water there.

And then I got sick. Really sick. And my relationship to The Future changed. I no longer wanted to make it to The Future so I could be skinny or sexy or young forever there; I just wanted to live long enough to see it.

Innovative Goose Dating App Debuts as an Alternative to Grindr

0

(NewsNation) — On the horizon is a refreshing dating app for gay men who seek more meaningful connections.

Conceived by model and actor Derek Chadwick, Goose emerges as an “anti-algorithm” dating and lifestyle service tailored for gay men, as reported by Mashable. Contrasting sharply with swipe-centric apps such as Grindr and Sniffies, Goose prioritizes a social-first approach, focusing on deeper connections rather than casual encounters.

Taking inspiration from exclusive platforms like Raya, Goose offers a selective membership process that involves a curated application system.

“It’s a nudge for men to date in ways that reflect their real lives, without the endless swiping, inspired by someone who experienced it first-hand and envisioned something better,” a representative from Goose explained in a statement.

Instead of traditional matching, users can “wave” at each other to initiate a connection. If both users engage, they are instantly connected, though mutual interaction is not required to communicate.

The app also includes a live map to see nearby users, along with profile features such as photos, videos and status updates.

Goose is not yet available on the App Store or Google Play, but its Instagram account has already attracted more than 22,000 followers.

Unlock Your Share: Easy Steps to Claim Your Part in the $2.25 Million Bank of America ATM Settlement

If you are among those who visited an ATM at certain 7-Eleven locations, you might be eligible for a share of a $2.25 million settlement that has arisen from a recent class action lawsuit. It is important to note that the opportunity to file your claim is quickly approaching its deadline.

A lawsuit launched in California back in 2019 took aim at Bank of America for allegedly imposing dual out-of-network charges for a single balance inquiry made by customers at ATMs located within 7-Eleven stores.

While Bank of America stands firm in its denial of any misconduct, it ultimately decided to settle the case for $2.25 million.

Do I qualify for this Bank of America settlement?

To determine your eligibility, consider whether you are, or were, a Bank of America customer who utilized FCTI-owned ATMs at 7-Eleven locations between May 1, 2018, and November 16, 2021.

Not sure if you qualify? A simple indicator might be whether you’ve received a notification regarding the settlement, either in the form of an email or a postcard.

Former account holders who are notified of the settlement will need to submit a claim and select a preferred payment method. To file a claim, you’ll need the class member ID listed on the email or postcard notice you received.

Current account holders need to take no action, settlement administrators say.

How much will I receive?

Payments will vary based on how many current account holders, who receive relief immediately, were impacted, and how many former account holders file a valid claim.

Settlement administrators say payments will be proportional.

I’m a former customer. How do I file a claim?

You will want to consult the postcard or email you received, administrators say. You will use the information on that notice to file a claim online or by paper.

More details can be found on the settlement’s website.

When is the deadline, and when will payments begin?

The deadline to file a claim is June 29, 2026.

A final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for August 2026.

In most class action lawsuits, payments are sent out shortly after the final approval hearing. However, objections and other court proceedings can delay this process.

Gulf Nations Denounce Iran’s Drone Strike on Bahrain Amidst Escalating Tensions and MOU Strain

0

In a unified stance against Tehran’s aggression, several Gulf nations have vocally condemned Iran’s drone strikes on Bahrain, which took place on Saturday. These countries have pledged to stand together against any future threats posed by Iran.

Such developments have cast a shadow over the recent diplomatic advancements marked by the memorandum of understanding signed last week by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. This escalation represents the most profound challenge yet to the nascent agreement.

This tense atmosphere was further fueled by events leading up to the weekend. Following Iran’s attack on a cargo ship navigating the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, the United States retaliated with overnight airstrikes targeting Iranian missile, drone, and radar sites. Iran’s swift response came in the form of drone strikes on Bahrain, a strategic area that hosts the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

The Gulf Cooperation Council’s Secretary-General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has labeled the Iranian strikes on Bahrain as “treacherous.” He warned that these actions could significantly undermine ongoing efforts to foster peace across the Middle East.

The GCC represents the interests of Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, several of which released their own statements condemning Iran.

Bahrain itself issued a response, confirming that Iran flew a number of drones into its territory and calling the strikes a “flagrant threat” to the nation’s security. It remains unclear exactly which areas Iran targeted.

“While the Ministry condemns this heinous aggression, it affirms that the Iranian regime’s continued attacks, at a time when regional and international efforts are moving towards de-escalation, place the sole responsibility on Tehran for undermining peace efforts, and reveals an approach based on destabilizing security, exporting chaos, and undermining regional stability,” Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry also said Saturday.

Officials in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also came out with statements on Saturday condemning Iran.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the Iranian strikes represent “a dangerous undermining of endeavors for peace and stability, and a threat to the security and stability of the region.”

Both Kuwait and the UAE said they remain committed to supporting Bahrain’s safety and stability.

Also joining in the public denouncements of Iran were Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with both countries saying the latest strikes violate Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law.

Notably, Oman’s foreign ministry has not addressed the attack. Oman has maintained a neutral stance throughout the war and has frequently acted as a mediator between Washington and Tehran.

Oman and Iran are also still in the midst of negotiating a joint framework for the future administration of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard took responsibility for the strikes on Bahrain, saying on state-run TV that it had targeted several locations “of the U.S. terrorist army in the region” without specifying which areas were hit, according to The Associated Press.

So far, no casualties or significant damage has been reported from the drone attack, which occurred days after Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Gulf allies in Bahrain.

Australians in Venezuela: How DFAT is Responding to Earthquake Crisis

0

The recent earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Thursday have affected some Australians, drawing concern and swift response from authorities.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has announced that it is currently offering consular support to several Australians caught in the aftermath of these natural disasters. However, details about their circumstances remain undisclosed due to privacy constraints.

A department spokesperson informed SBS News, “Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment on individual cases.” While the specific ways these citizens have been impacted have not been clarified, the situation is evidently serious.

Without an embassy in Venezuela, Australia faces significant limitations in providing direct consular assistance. Nevertheless, Australian officials are actively engaging with local authorities and international partners to assist in rescue efforts for those who remain trapped under the earthquake debris.

Australia does not have an embassy in Venezuela, and the government’s ability to provide consular assistance is severely limited.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Friday that his heart “goes out” to anyone with relatives or friends in the country who have been affected by the natural disasters that struck the country’s north on Thursday.

“This is one of the worst earthquakes that we’ve seen in recent times, with catastrophic human consequences, a massive loss of life, but also massive infrastructure damage and real consequences for the people of Venezuela,” the prime minister told ABC News Breakfast.

Genesis Lindstrom, president of the Venezuelan Association of Australia, has her community has been desperately seeking information, which is challenging to access given the number of media outlets suspended in the country.

“A lot of the news and updates we’re getting are from social media and from people sending through videos and updates,” she told News Breakfast.

Lindstrom added that she was in the office when the news broke and started frantically messaging everyone she knows in the country’s capital, Caracas.

“Thankfully, as far as I know, most people in my community here have been getting those messages across from family members and loved ones,” she said.

Desperate Venezuelans are continuing to dig for people trapped beneath the debris in the worst-hit state of La Guaira, north of Caracas.

The United States Geological Survey measured the earthquakes as magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, which struck within minutes of each other on Thursday.

Venezuela’s health minister Carlos Alvarado said the death toll had risen to 235. At least 1,520 are thought to be injured.

International support

The United Nation’s Central Emergency Response Fund has released $22 million to support response efforts in Venezuela.

United Nations-certified rescuers will help search for survivors, interim Venezuelan president Delcy Rodriguez said in a televised message.

Spain and France have said they will send dozens of specialists, while Germany promised six military transport planes.

Switzerland has mobilised 80 personnel, eight rescue dogs, and 18 tonnes of equipment to be sent as soon as possible.

A concrete building has collapsed in the middle and is illuminated at night.

Dutch foreign trade minister Sjoerd Sjoerdsma announced a €2 million ($3.29 million) aid package to deploy a search-and-rescue team, while the Czech Republic said its team is preparing to fly in.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said it had released US$2.5 million ($3.62 million) to support recovery efforts. This is a fund that Australia contributes to.

Pope Leo XIV sent “initial” emergency aid of €100,000 ($165,000) to Venezuela, the Vatican announced.

US, China willing to help

The US said it was mobilising US$150 million ($217 million) in aid after secretary of state Marco Rubio promised a “whole-of-government response” that would be “big … fast and … effective.”

“We will be there for our new and great friends,” US President Donald Trump said.

China said it was “willing to provide what help it can in an appropriate manner according to the needs of the Venezuelan side”, according to foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei voiced “Iran’s readiness to provide any assistance required in relief and rescue operations”.

Latin American solidarity

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced the dispatch of a field hospital to Venezuela, along with 36 firefighters and several rescue and communications specialists via two flights on Friday and Saturday.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said her country was dispatching a military team of rescuers and medical personnel to Venezuela and would send further assistance if necessary.

“Mexico always stands in solidarity and always will,” she posted earlier on X.

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele said he had readied 300 rescuers and paramedics and 50 tons of equipment, medicines, and basic supplies.

Cuban health workers were already “fully mobilised and providing medical services to the affected population,” foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez said.

Chilean President José Antonio Kast said he was dispatching humanitarian aid and rescue teams to Venezuela.

Colombia, which also felt the quakes, will send more than 60 rescuers and 12 tons of humanitarian aid to its neighbour, its disaster management agency said.

“Colombia will always help Venezuela,” Colombian President Gustavo Petro posted on X, while calling on Trump to lift US sanctions on Venezuela so that rescue efforts can be more fully deployed.

Argentina, Costa Rica and Uruguay also expressed solidarity, while Ecuador and the Dominican Republic both said they had readied aid to send.

Condolences around the world

Japan offered “sincere condolences to those affected” in Venezuela. The east Asian nation was rocked by a 7.2-magnitude quake itself on Thursday, escaping with no major damage.

Spain was the first of several European countries to react to the quakes, with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez offering “full support” to the Venezuelan people, adding: “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

Italian leader Giorgia Meloni and Germany’s Friedrich Merz echoed these sentiments.

The French government said it stood “in solidarity” with the Venezuelan people before confirming that its embassy in Caracas had been damaged in the disaster.

Two warring nations, Ukraine and Russia, also sent their condolences without specific aid offers.

The European Union said it had activated its satellite surveillance system, with aid commissioner Hadja Lahbib saying: “We stand ready to step up assistance”.

Ariana Grande Fans Thrilled as Her Ex Makes Unexpected Concert Appearance

0

It was a night filled with memorable surprises at Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine concert in Austin, Texas, as her ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez attended the show. The event coincided with her 33rd birthday, adding an extra layer of celebration.

Grande, known for her powerful performances and personal connections with her music, gave her fans a special treat by altering the lyrics to her 2019 hit “thank you, next.” Making a nod to Alvarez, she adjusted the words from “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh” to a more affectionate “…they still kinda slap” and “…he still got my back.” Alvarez was in the VIP section, accompanied by Grande’s father, Ed Butera, to witness this heartfelt gesture.

As fans captured the moment on video, Butera was seen giving a congratulatory handshake to Alvarez, the 38-year-old former Argentine footballer. This display added to the friendly atmosphere of the evening, suggesting no hard feelings between Grande and her former beau.

Ricky Alvarez appeared genuinely delighted to join in the festivities as Ariana’s backup dancers surprised her with a birthday cake on stage. His presence seemed to be warmly appreciated, highlighting the amicable nature of their past relationship.

With Ariana Grande now single following an amicable split from Ethan Slater, her co-star in “Wicked,” some might speculate a deeper significance to the reunion with Alvarez. However, at this concert, the focus seemed to be on camaraderie and celebration rather than rekindled romance.

Grande and Alvarez did date briefly between April 2015 and July 2016. They met when Alvarez was hired as a backup dancer for her Honeymoon Tour. Though they split up, they have remained good friends.

But a source told TMZ that ‘there is nothing romantic between Ariana and Ricky this time around’ and they’re just hanging out.

On Thursday, on a break from her tour, the three-time Grammy winner was spotted out to lunch with Alvarez and some other friends at a restaurant in Austin.

Alvarez’s reappearance in Grande’s company comes in the wake of reports that the singer ended her three-year relationship with Slater, 34, who she met on the set of the 2024 musical-fantasy in which she played Glinda and he portrayed Boq.

A source told the Daily Mail that they both decided to go their separate ways after a great deal of consideration.

The same source said the breakup, which happened several months ago, was amicable and the two were still on friendly terms.

Grande was said to be in good spirits as she focuses her time and energy on her current tour, which kicked off on June 6 in Oakland, California and ends on September 1 in London.

Slater has not been seen at any of Grande’s shows thus far.

Their romance was first reported in July 2023, amid buzz that Grande’s marriage to Dalton Gomez was over. It was later reported that Grande and Gomez separated in January of that year.

Slater had also just separated from his wife, Lilly Jay, with whom he had a son who was born in August 2022.

At the time, sources insisted they didn’t start dating until after they had separated from their spouses.

Meanwhile, Grande is gearing up for the release of her eighth studio album, Petal, on July 31.

The 12-track LP features the single Hate That I Made You Love Me, which sounds like a breakup song but is actually more multi-layered than that and serves as a message about public scrutiny and the complex relationship she has with the media and her fan base.

Grande, who has worked prolifically in both music and acting since finding fame as a teenager in the Nickelodeon series Victorious, recently acknowledged that it could be beneficial for her to reduce the pace a little.

‘I think that it would probably be healthy,’ she told Vogue Japan. ‘I’m not used to taking breaks. But I do know that I grew so much from taking space from music while I was filming Wicked… But yeah, these past few years have been pretty non-stop. And by few, I mean 15.’

The actress, who filmed Wicked and its sequel Wicked: For Good back-to-back, explained that she is searching for more ‘balance’ in the years to come.

‘Balance is the goal for the next 15 years. I don’t think they will look like the previous 15 years. I think there will be more balance,’ she said.

Grande portrayed Glinda in the two Wicked movies and explained that she totally immersed herself in the part.

‘I spent a lot of time reading between the lines and scribbling down little ideas about what might have happened along the way that made her feel insecure.

‘Whether it was her friendship with Elphaba or her relationship with Fiyero, tiny things she swept under the rug that shaped her into this super high-functioning, performative human being.

‘Sometimes we are playing a character, and sometimes we are letting our guard down,’ Grande continued.

‘Sometimes we are inventing a persona or taking on a character that was written for us by someone else.

‘And sometimes it’s just pouring our hearts out and letting our truths out. But it’s always interesting because the world sometimes can’t tell the difference.’

She added: ‘We have very different processes, and we’re very different as people. Yet we took the time to learn each other, take care of each other through this process… I think it was really meant to be.

‘We took good care of each other and worked very hard, and it was the most gratifying work of my life. I would do it all over again today.’
