Heartbreaking Footage Reveals Penn State Student’s Last Moments During Tragic Armed Robbery

0

Recently released surveillance footage has shed light on the tragic final moments leading up to the death of a Pennsylvania State University student during an attempted armed robbery.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, 22-year-old Billy Schmidt was near his residence when the robbery attempt unfolded early Saturday morning at around 1:30 a.m. Responding officers discovered Schmidt with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead at 1:47 a.m.

In the video, Schmidt can be heard demanding, “Give me my phone,” moments before a gunshot rings out.

Bill Schmidt, Billy’s father, shared with ABC7 that his son was returning home after watching the NBA Finals at a bar with friends. Additional footage reveals a man tossing a cellphone, followed by another person sprinting around a corner with Billy Schmidt in pursuit, before he was fatally shot.

“He was a really good person who cared about everybody and never hurt or bothered a soul, never bothered anyone and for him to get shot like that is a travesty,” Bill Schmidt said. “I’m shocked when they stole his phone that he chased them.”

His sister, Anna Schmidt, told reporters she doesn’t know how anyone could have killed her brother.

“I miss him so much, and I don’t understand how someone can do this,” Anna Schmidt said.

In a statement, Penn State University said Billy Schmidt was studying journalism at Penn State World Campus and was on track to graduate in December.

“We are heartbroken over the tragic death of William Schmidt and we share our deepest condolences with his family and friends,” the university said.

Police have not made an arrest in connection with the college student’s killing. One neighbor urged anyone with information to help police.

“I want justice, I want the kid that shot Billy to be found,” a neighbor told FOX 29. “If anyone’s out there that recognizes anything… they seem young to me. If anyone has any information or recognizes anything about the kids, I would love for them to come forward.”

Hollywood Exit: Heather Locklear, 64, Unveils Personal Reasons Behind Her Departure from the Spotlight

0

Heather Locklear bid farewell to Hollywood four decades ago, seeking a more tranquil life away from the glitz and superficiality of the entertainment industry.

In the late 1980s, the actress was thriving on television, having already made her mark with roles in “Dynasty” and “T.J. Hooker.”

Her career was about to reach new heights with “Melrose Place,” where she famously portrayed the formidable Amanda Woodward, an advertising executive.

Now 64, Locklear chose the serene landscape of Thousand Oaks, California, as her haven, located over an hour’s drive northwest of Beverly Hills.

She continues to reside in a spacious home perched atop a hill in this picturesque area, a neighborhood that counts Britney Spears, Tom Selleck, and Jamie Foxx among its notable residents.

The blonde beauty, who dates Falcon Crest veteran Lorenzo Lamas, told the Hollywood & Devine talk show that she left Hollywood because it was not her scene.

Locklear told hosts Dru Hammer – who is the mother of actor Armie Hammer – and John Luciano, ‘I don’t really hang out with Hollywood people.’

She explained, ‘I live so far away. Yeah. Like for many, many years. 40 years and stuff like that.’

The move never harmed her career.

After nearly 200 episodes of Melrose Place she had a role on Spin City with Michael J Fox for three years and then starred on LAX for a season in 2004.

Locklear has also popped up on the shows Boston Legal, Rules Of Engagement and See Jayne Run.

In 2009 she starred on eight episodes of the Melrose Place redo as she reprised her role as Woodward.

In 2012 she did three episodes of Hot In Cleveland and then was on 10 episodes of Franklin & Bash in 2013 followed by a gig on Too Close To Home in 2016.

Her last acting gig was a role as Jodi Hildebrandt in the 2024 TV movie Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story.

When she moved to Thousand Oaks 40 years ago, it was where families lived to raise their children in the quiet, predictable and wholesome atmosphere.

The hottest hangout was The Oaks Mall, which had shops, movie theaters and restaurants.

In the past decade, fancier places have popped up such as Mastro’s Steakhouse and Casalena.

Nearby is Hidden Hills where Kim and Khloe Kardashian live as well as Kylie and Kris Jenner. Jennifer Lopez recently bought a large compound there, too.

Across the 101 freeway is Calabasas where Kourtney Kardashian has a house with Travis Barker, and her ex Scott Disick owns a home in the area as well.

During the same interview, Locklear broke her silence on her romance with Lamas.

And while doing so she made a shocking claim about the Hollywood icon: she said that he was a gift from God.

Speaking on the Hollywood & Divine podcast, the actress said: ‘My new guy is very… everything.

‘I’m just like, when I tell this person I love him, I’m really saying, “I love you, God.” Because that’s what happened. It’s from God,’ she shared with the hosts. ‘I’m in the best time of my life,’ she added.

The actress first met the 68-year-old actor while posing for Playgirl magazine in 1983 but they recently reconnected and the star couldn’t be happier with her ‘new boyfriend.’

The duo made their first appearance as a couple at the Chiller Theatre Expo in April, where they greeted fans as they sat side by side.

And the actor admitted he never expected to find love with the beauty. Asked if he ever imagined things coming full circle like this, Lamas told Fox News Digital: ‘The short answer is no. I mean, I’ve been through a lot of trial and error, and she is the most amazing woman that I think I’ve ever met.’

In December, Lamas shared their Playgirl cover on X, and wrote: ‘I cannot believe that this was 43 years ago! Side note, speedos on request only #HeatherLocklear #Playgirl.’

And in April, he shared the throwback photo in another post which has since been deleted, but appeared to confirm their relationship. In November last year, the pair were spotted at a dinner party in New York City, before reuniting at Barry’s Steakhouse in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.

Renegade actor Lamas has been married six times in the past. He has children AJ, 43, and Shayne, 41, with second wife Michele Smith, Paton, 37, with ex Daphne Ashbrook, and Alexandra, 28, Victoria, 27, and Isabella, 25, with fourth wife Shauna Sand. In June 2025, he filed for divorce from Kenna Scott after less than two years of marriage, and the former model reflected on the breakup on Instagram.

Locklear was previously married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee before their divorce in 1993, while she tied the knot with Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora shortly after. Last year, she ended her long-term relationship with Chris Heisser, who she first dated in high school. He proposed in 2020, but they never got married, and split in 2025.

Tragic Shooting Claims Life of Penn State Senior Billy Schmidt in South Philly; Suspects on the Loose

0

Tragedy struck South Philadelphia early Saturday when a young life was abruptly ended. Billy Schmidt, a 22-year-old senior at Penn State, was fatally shot just steps away from his family home. As authorities continue to search for the culprits, the community is left grieving and seeking answers.

On the fateful night, Schmidt was making his way home around 1:30 a.m. after spending an evening at a local bar enjoying the NBA Finals with friends. It was on the 1900 block of Durfor Street where his life was tragically cut short. “He was a really good person who cared about everybody and never hurt or bothered a soul,” lamented his father, Bill Schmidt, highlighting the senseless nature of the crime.

Surveillance footage from nearby cameras provides some insight into the moments preceding the shooting. The video shows a man throwing a cell phone, followed by another man, believed to be the gunman, sprinting around a corner with Schmidt in pursuit. The chilling footage captures the gunman turning and firing a shot that struck Schmidt in the chest.

In the aftermath of the incident, Bill Schmidt discovered his son’s phone beneath a car and promptly handed it over to law enforcement in hopes that it might aid in the investigation. As the search for the suspects continues, the community holds onto hope for justice for Billy Schmidt.

Bill Schmidt said he found his son’s phone under a car and turned it over to police.

“I’m shocked when they stole his phone that he chased them. The kid he is very lowkey supposedly when he got to the corner another came out and he shot him,” he said.

Neighbors began creating a memorial at the location where Schmidt was shot, directly across the street from where he lived.

“The neighbors we come together it’s really important it’s sad we have to come together over a death,” said South Philadelphia resident Michael Smith.

Neighbors have also assisted investigators by providing surveillance footage. One video shows two men walking, with one turning around and appearing to speak with Schmidt. Schmidt then follows the man. Another video shows one person ducking behind parked cars while the other runs away.

“I want to find the two people and make them pay,” Bill Schmidt said.

Police have not announced any arrests. While the incident appears to be an attempted robbery, investigators have not released a motive.

Massive In-N-Out Burger Makes Debut on Las Vegas Strip Today

0

California’s iconic burger chain, In-N-Out Burger, is set to expand its presence on the Las Vegas Strip with a new location opening on Tuesday. This addition is situated at BLVD Las Vegas, a vibrant retail and entertainment hub located at 3747 S. Las Vegas Blvd. The opening promises to deliver a fresh wave of their popular offerings, including Double-Doubles, Animal Fries, and shakes, to the bustling tourist hotspot.

Based in Irvine, the chain announced that the new Las Vegas Strip restaurant will accommodate 170 diners indoors, with an additional 50 seats available on an outdoor patio. This establishment, covering approximately 8,000 square feet, includes a 2,500-square-foot terrace, potentially making it the largest In-N-Out Burger location in the chain’s extensive network, as highlighted by Neon.

The management of this new venue will be under the experienced leadership of Travis Barendt, who brings 15 years of tenure with In-N-Out Burger, according to the company.

The roughly 8,000-square-foot restaurant also features a 2,500-square-foot terrace, according to Neon, making it likely the largest In-N-Out location in the chain’s footprint.

The new restaurant will be managed by Travis Barendt, a 15-year In-N-Out veteran, the company said.

The location is expected to employ about 70 workers, with a starting wage of $18.25 per hour. The company said it will continue hiring new associates in the months ahead.

The new In-N-Out opens daily at 10:30 a.m.

The opening gives the Las Vegas Strip another outpost of the wildly popular California-born burger chain, which already operates another location at The Linq.

In-N-Out was founded in 1948 by Harry and Ester Snyder in Baldwin Park as California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand. The company remains owned and operated by the Snyders’ granddaughter Lynsi — and it does not franchise its restaurants.

The chain said its burgers are still made with fresh, never-frozen beef patties produced by In-N-Outs own butches, while fries are hand-diced from whole potatoes inside each restaurant.

In-N-Out has long been one of California’s most recognizable exports, drawing cult-like loyalty for its simple menu, not-so-secret “secret menu” and late-night road-trip appeal.

The company now operates restaurants across California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, Washington and Tennessee.

BLVD Las Vegas describes itself as an “elevated activated destination at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.”

The restaurant’s arrival comes as In-N-Out continues to expand beyond its California roots while keeping its headquarters in Southern California.

Charlotte Train Stabbing Suspect Found Incompetent, Temporarily Avoids Death Penalty

0

A tragic incident unfolded on a North Carolina light-rail train, where a young Ukrainian woman lost her life in a gruesome attack. The man accused of this crime, Decarlos Brown Jr., has been declared unfit to stand trial for his federal charges after undergoing a mental health evaluation.

Brown, 34, faces charges for the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, which took place on the Lynx Blue Line in Charlotte on August 22, 2025. This shocking event has drawn attention due to the violent nature of the crime and the victim’s status as a Ukrainian refugee.

In light of the recent assessment, Brown will be placed in a specialized facility under the supervision of the U.S. attorney general. The goal of this commitment is to provide him with treatment that could restore his mental competence. Should he be deemed competent in the future, the federal proceedings against him may recommence.

The case holds significant gravity, as Brown could potentially face the death penalty if the trial goes forward. It’s important to note that legal proceedings cannot continue, nor can the death penalty be carried out, if a defendant is ruled incompetent at the time.

Arrested by authorities in Mecklenburg County, Brown remains in custody as legal and mental health experts work to determine the next steps in this complex and sensitive case. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has been involved in handling this high-profile arrest, ensuring that all legal protocols are meticulously followed.

Brown was federally indicted on a charge of committing an act of violence against a railroad carrier and mass transportation system resulting in death.

The hearing comes after a Bureau of Prisons evaluation found on May 7 that Brown was incompetent to stand trial for his state charges.

The finding followed what officials described as a lengthy process that included interviews and a review of medical records.

Brown is accused of murdering Zarutska on the Charlotte train. Surveillance video shows Zarutska entering the train car and sitting down in front of Brown.

Roughly four minutes later, Brown allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed her three times from behind before departing the train.
