Over One Million Pilgrims Flock to Serbian Church for Revered Virgin Mary Relic Viewing

0

BELGRADE, Serbia — Over a million faithful have flocked to the Church of Saint Sava in recent weeks to see a sacred relic associated with the Virgin Mary—a segment of the belt she is believed to have worn during her pregnancy with Jesus Christ.

Displayed around the clock for several weeks, this revered artifact was transported from its usual home on Mount Athos in Greece, marking its first journey back to Serbia in many centuries.

According to a statement by Orthodox Church leaders and confirmed by a Serbian government representative, more than 1.1 million visitors have arrived at the Church of Saint Sava, drawn to this relic, esteemed as one of Christianity’s most sacred treasures.

“The belt was crafted by her own hands and worn during her pregnancy with Jesus,” remarked Nemanja Stavorich, the Serbian Minister of European Integration, during a guided visit to the church.

“This is a profoundly significant event for us,” explained Bozidar Lijeskic, a Church official who provided a tour, noting, “For 650 years, this belt had not been in Serbia. It is among the most cherished and revered items of Mount Athos.”

– News visited the church as well during our trip to Belgrade to interview President Aleksandar Vucic — an interview that caught the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump. Vucic praised Trump during the interview, saying that because he is “pragmatic” and “rational,” Trump is the most popular American politician by far in Serbia — and the president posted that article on Truth Social.

Right after interviewing Vucic, Serbian officials took – News on a private tour of the Church of Saint Sava, and we got to see the relic of the Virgin Mary during the tour. The church itself is magnificent and was built by the Serbs over the course of more than a century as a way to sort of replace the Hagia Sophia, the spectacular church in Istanbul that was turned into a Mosque when Muslims conquered what is now modern-day Turkey during the rise of the Ottoman Empire.

The high-rise front doors of the church have engraved on them 24 different languages of welcoming prayers. “Basically, for every person coming from any part of the world approaching the church, the first thing they will feel and also notice will be the prayer either in their own language or in a language that they can understand,” Lijeskic told – News as he began the tour outside of the church. “You get an immediate feeling of warmth coming inside.”

Lijeskic said that Saint Sava, for whom the Church is named, “is, for Serbian people, one of the most important as well as most venerated Saints in our spiritual heritage.”

“He was born in 1175 in a royal family in Serbia — his father was a great unifier, and I would say a great duke of Serbia,” Lijeskic said. “When I say unifier, I mean he unified the Serbian territories and municipalities that formed into a state of Serbia. Saint Sava, who was his third and youngest son, wasn’t so devoted to be any royalty or prince or whatever. But he was very devoted to and interested in the Church and Christianity. So when he was 17, he decided to follow some Russian Orthodox monks who were traveling across Serbia and going towards Mount Athos in Greece. The moment he found himself there, he decided to become an Orthodox monk, and as you know, that’s officially leaving any opportunity for the Crown, any opportunity for the royalty, as well as his personal family and any kind of wealth. So he stayed there and started learning about this deep spirituality and life, and miraculously, his father joined him several years after that. So he renounced the throne of Serbia, stepped back from the throne of Serbia, and gave it to his middle son, and started following his youngest son and became a monk.”

When Saint Sava’s father died, Lijeskic said that the situation in Serbia “started to collide in a little bit of an unpleasant way.” Since Saint Sava’s father had handed control of the kingdom over to the middle brother instead of the eldest brother, the nation almost descended into civil war, but Saint Sava returned to Serbia with his father’s relics and made peace between his older brothers. “The second-born son who was given the leadership of Serbia actually became the first king of Serbia,” Lijeskic said. “And during Saint Sava’s stay in Serbia, he started to build hospitals and schools — the first educational institutions, as well as the churches and the monasteries. He basically put the educational system of Serbia on the map of the known world. So that’s why he’s considered now the greatest enlightener of the Serbian people, the great educator of the Serbian people.”

In 1219, Lijeskic added, Saint Sava made the Serbian church independent of Constantinople and “became the first archbishop for the Serbian church.”

“So to summarize this entire life story of Saint Sava and why he is so important to our Serbian people, for us to dedicate to him this tremendous church, it’s because he’s the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church as well as the first Serbian Archbishop,” Lijeskic said.

Construction on the church, the fourth biggest Orthodox Church in the world, began in 1935 and took decades — until 2004 for the exterior and until 2020 for the interior — to complete. The construction stopped and started at different points throughout history, notably during the communist era of Yugoslavia, but now it boasts what Lijeskic told – News during the tour is the single biggest piece of artwork in the world, a series of mosaic images throughout the inside of the building.

“This is the biggest mosaic art piece in the world,” Lijeskic said. “It’s placed on a surface of more than 17,000 square meters, and if you ask yourself if this is real gold, it is. It’s 24 karat gold placed in between two layers of glass. The rest of the depictions of the saints and parables and biblical stories are made of natural colors of stone, marble, glass — all different kinds of minerals. For example, the black ones are made from the volcanic glass — obsidian — and for the Byzantine blue, it’s made of lapis lazuli. Miraculously, too, the mosaic was done in only five years. We started the project in 2012, but the artists needed two years to just take the measurements and do the entire logistics. But then, it only took five years to build — so these are relatively new. It was actually completed seven years back from now, so in 2019.”

In total, the mosaics include millions of pieces of gold and stones throughout the church and make images of Jesus Christ and a number of Orthodox saints and biblical figures.

Revitalize Your Core: 5 Morning Exercises to Boost Strength Post-60 Faster Than Machines

Is your core feeling weak after hitting 60? Here are five morning exercises that can help rebuild the strength essential for maintaining balance.

Exercising in the morning offers a distinct benefit: it allows you to prioritize fitness before daily tasks begin to compete for your attention. Starting the day with a brief core workout can alleviate stiffness, activate your hips and torso, and set a positive tone for the hours spent sitting, commuting, or running errands. This routine fosters consistency, as it doesn’t require a trip to the gym or waiting in line for equipment. Simply roll out of bed, dedicate a few focused minutes to your body, and accumulate small victories that contribute to overall well-being.

After the age of 60, core strength takes on heightened importance. A robust core enhances lower back support, improves balance, and stabilizes your gait. It provides a strong foundation for your limbs, aiding in twisting, reaching, standing tall, rising from chairs, and carrying items without compromising posture. This functionality extends far beyond the temporary discomfort of a typical ab workout.

While gym machines can target abdominal muscles, they often guide your movements. Morning core exercises require you to maintain control of your body’s position independently. This involves bracing, breathing, resisting rotation, stabilizing the pelvis, and coordinating limb movement. I advocate for this type of core training as it equips your midsection to support real-life activities, rather than just performing isolated movements against gym equipment.

Gym machines can train your abs, but they often guide the movement for you. Morning core exercises ask your body to control its position on its own. You have to brace, breathe, resist rotation, keep your pelvis steady, and coordinate your arms and legs. That’s the kind of core work I like coaching because it teaches the midsection to support real movement, not just push against a pad or pull on a handle.

For this routine, think controlled and crisp. You’ll use bird dogs to connect your shoulders, hips, and core; dead bugs to train lower belly control; side planks to strengthen your waist; plank shoulder taps to challenge stability; and glute bridge marches to tie your core and hips together. None of these needs a machine, but every one of them asks your core to do its job.

Bird Dogs

Bird dogs train your core, glutes, shoulders, and lower back while your body stays steady on all fours. As one arm and the opposite leg reach away from your body, your midsection has to brace to keep your hips from shifting or your lower back from arching. That makes bird dogs useful after 60 because they build coordination between your core and limbs, which supports walking, reaching, lifting, and balance. Move slowly and treat each rep like a control drill, not a race.

Muscles Trained: Core, glutes, lower back, and shoulders.

How to Do It:

  1. Start on all fours with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips.
  2. Brace your core and keep your back flat.
  3. Extend your right arm forward and your left leg straight back.
  4. Hold briefly while keeping your hips level.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Repeat on the opposite side.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Paused bird dogs, elbow-to-knee bird dogs, and slower bird dogs.

Form Tip: Reach long through your arm and leg without twisting your hips.

Alternating Dead Bugs

Alternating dead bug trains your lower abs and deep core while your arms and legs move away from your body. Your midsection has to keep your ribs and pelvis steady, which teaches your core to support your spine instead of letting your lower back take over. This gives you more carryover than many gym machines because your core has to control movement rather than follow a fixed path. Slow reps make the exercise more effective, especially when your goal is restoring strength and control.

Muscles Trained: Lower abs, deep core, hip flexors, and shoulders.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your arms reaching toward the ceiling.
  2. Lift your knees over your hips and bend them to 90 degrees.
  3. Press your lower back gently into the floor.
  4. Extend your right arm and left leg away from your body.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Repeat on the opposite side.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Heel tap dead bugs, same side dead bugs, paused dead bugs.

Form Tip: Move only as far as your core can control without your lower back lifting.

Side Plank Holds

Side plank holds train your obliques, deep core, shoulders, and hips while your body resists dropping toward the floor. The muscles along your waist help keep your trunk steady when you walk, turn, carry groceries, or shift your weight. That side-body strength becomes more important with age because balance and posture rely on more than just your abs. Start with the bent knee version if needed, then build your hold time as your strength improves.

Muscles Trained: Obliques, core, shoulders, outer hips.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your side with your forearm under your shoulder.
  2. Stack your feet or stagger them for more support.
  3. Brace your core and lift your hips off the floor.
  4. Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels.
  5. Hold the position while breathing steadily.
  6. Lower with control, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 20 to 30 seconds per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Bent knee side planks, staggered foot side planks, side plank with top leg lift.

Form Tip: Press your forearm into the floor and keep your hips lifted.

Plank Shoulder Taps

Plank shoulder taps train your core, shoulders, chest, triceps, and glutes while your body fights rotation. Each time one hand leaves the floor, your midsection has to brace harder to keep your hips from rocking. That makes this exercise a strong choice for restoring core strength because your abs have to stabilize while your upper body moves. It also helps with balance, posture, and the kind of control you need when one side of your body works harder than the other.

Muscles Trained: Core, shoulders, chest, triceps, glutes.

How to Do It:

  1. Start in a high plank position with your hands under your shoulders.
  2. Set your feet slightly wider than hip width.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Tap one hand to your opposite shoulder.
  5. Place your hand back on the floor with control.
  6. Alternate sides while keeping your hips steady.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 taps per side. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Incline shoulder taps, wider stance shoulder taps, and slower shoulder taps.

Form Tip: Move your hand slowly and keep your hips quiet.

Glute Bridge Marches

Glute bridge marches train your glutes, hamstrings, lower abs, and deep core while your hips stay lifted. Every time one foot leaves the floor, your midsection has to keep your pelvis from shifting side to side. This ties your core and hips together, which matters for walking, climbing stairs, standing up, and supporting your lower back. The movement also wakes up the backside of your body in the morning, which helps counter all the sitting that usually follows.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, lower abs, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Press through your heels and lift your hips.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Lift one foot a few inches off the floor.
  5. Place your foot back down with control.
  6. Alternate sides while keeping your hips lifted.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 marches per side. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Glute bridge holds, mini band glute bridges, and single leg bridge holds.

Form Tip: Keep your hips level as each foot lifts.

How to Make Morning Core Work Pay Off

Morning core training works best when you keep the routine short enough to repeat and focused enough to challenge your control. You’re not chasing exhaustion here. You’re teaching your midsection to brace, stabilize, and support the rest of your body before the day gets moving.

  • Start with smooth reps: Bird dogs and dead bugs should feel controlled from start to finish. If your hips shift or your back arches, shorten the range and slow down.
  • Train your sides, not just your front: Side planks target the obliques and deep core muscles that support balance, posture, and carrying.
  • Keep your hips involved: Glute bridge marches remind your core and glutes to work together. That connection supports your lower back and makes daily movement feel stronger.
  • Use machines as a bonus, not the whole plan: Gym machines can add resistance, but floor-based core work teaches your body to control its own position.
  • Repeat the routine often: A few focused mornings per week can build more momentum than one long core session you rarely revisit.

A stronger core after 60 should make life feel easier, not just workouts harder. Start the day with clean, controlled reps, and your midsection will have more to offer when you walk, lift, reach, turn, and move through everything else on your schedule.

US Army Helicopter Crashes Near Strategic Strait of Hormuz

0

An Apache helicopter gunship belonging to the United States Army crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

According to The New York Times, both crew members on board were successfully rescued, as reported on Monday by two individuals familiar with the situation.

As of Monday night, the cause of the Apache’s downfall remained uncertain, with possibilities ranging from being shot down by Iranian forces to mechanical failure or other complications.

Donald Trump assured that the crew members were ‘fine’ and mentioned that a comprehensive report on the incident would be available later on Tuesday.

This helicopter mishap and subsequent rescue occurred in the wake of a weekend marked by renewed hostilities between Israel and Iran.

The two nations appeared to back away from further strikes Monday, hours after they traded fire for the first time since the US agreed to a ceasefire with Tehran two months ago.

Both countries warned that they were ready to launch retaliatory attacks if provoked.

The renewed hostilities raised concerns that the Middle East could plunge back into a full-scale war.

Since the US and Israel began striking Iran on February 28, the war has shaken the global economy, driven up energy prices around the world and made many basics, including food, more expensive.

Officials have been unable to turn the April ceasefire into a deal to permanently end the conflict.

The new attacks prompted Trump to call for an immediate stop to fighting between Israel and Iran.

Soon after, the Iranian military’s joint command issued a statement that said it was halting offensive strikes.

The statement said further ‘aggression and hostile acts’ by Israel and its supporters, including in southern Lebanon, would be met with ‘much more severe and crushing measures than before.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking in a videotaped statement, implied that the current round of fighting was over.

But he also warned that if Iran ‘makes the mistake and returns to attacking us, we will respond with force.’

Netanyahu said Israel is continuing to operate in Lebanon against the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah, and that Israel ‘has full right to self-defense, and we will exercise it to the full extent necessary.’

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Health Ministry said an Israeli airstrike on the village of Zefta killed seven people Monday, including a Syrian child.

Eight people were wounded. Another strike on the coastal city of Tyre killed five and wounded eight, some of them members of the Lebanese Red Cross, the ministry said.

Both countries lifted restrictions they had imposed as safety precautions.

The Israeli military said most schools in Israel that closed Monday would reopen.

Iran’s official Mizan news agency reported that the Islamic Republic had lifted airspace restrictions affecting civilian flights.

Trump boasted on a call with South Carolina voters Monday night that the US will declare ‘total victory’ over Iran in the next two weeks.

The President gave an updated timeline on the Iran war during a tele-rally in support of hawkish Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who is trying to avoid a runoff in Tuesday’s GOP Senate primary in the Palmetto State.

‘We’ve been a very tough team,’ Trump said. ‘And I think we are winning that battle. But you’re really going to win it over the next two weeks when we declare total victory.’

‘It will happen very soon and oil prices will come tumbling down,’ the President added.

Trump originally told the Daily Mail in late February that the Iran war would last about four weeks, but it’s now lasted more than three months – with gas prices around the country soaring.

The President said Iran was ‘negotiating now, and they want to make a very good deal.’

‘They’re willing to give us everything. They’re willing to give us no nuclear weapon. Iran and the people of South Carolina agree. I saw a poll, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and it’s as simple as that,’ he continued.

For weeks, Trump has said the war was winding down, but new fighting broke out in recent days between Iran and Israel, though the two countries halted attacking one another earlier Monday.

Trump spent the weekend at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf resort and told Axios by phone that he had warned Netanyahu against continuing to strike Iran.

‘I said, ‘Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be on your own very soon,” the President said, recounting the conversation to Axios.

Trump also told Netanyahu that the leaders of five countries in the region asked him to tell the Israeli PM to back off the attacks.

He didn’t specify which countries they were.

‘These countries were very concerned. They love the deal that we have been negotiating,’ Trump said.

Iranian officials also reached out to the US and said they would stop attacking Israel if Israel hit pause.

‘They called us and said that they are not doing any more attacks and asked us to tell Israel not to do any more attacks,’ the President explained.

Netanyahu appears to have openly defied Trump with the strike Sunday in Beirut and subsequent attacks in Iran.

Trump has voiced his displeasure with Israel, including belittling Netanyahu by declaring to the Financial Times that ‘I call all the shots.’

Their differences appear to be rooted in each leader’s domestic considerations. Netanyahu faces elections this fall and is under public pressure to strike back against ongoing Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel.

He also is wary of appearing too subservient to Trump.

The US president also faces elections — for Congress in November — and is eager to end a war that has jolted the global economy and raised prices for consumers.

Tensions Flare: Knicks Fans and Police Face Off in Bryant Park During Game 3 Watch Party

Monday night saw a chaotic scene unfold outside Bryant Park during the Knicks’ Game 3 watch party, as enthusiastic fans clashed with police officers. The tension escalated when at least one person reportedly threw a bottle at an officer.

The atmosphere was already electric just an hour after the game between the Knicks and the Spurs began. Many fans were unable to enter the official viewing area in Midtown, leading to mounting frustration.

In their fervor, the crowd began to chant “We want Wemby!” as some fans climbed onto parked cars. The situation intensified when a fan set a Spurs t-shirt ablaze, and a group pursued a San Antonio supporter across the street.

The majority of those causing disturbances appeared to be young individuals. They went as far as toppling a metal bus sign and snapping large branches from trees.

In response, police officers in riot gear were dispatched to manage the disorderly crowd, resorting to the use of pepper spray. The fans, however, did not back down easily, retaliating by throwing bottles at the law enforcement officers.

Unveiling the Chilling Details: Inside the Karmelo Anthony Murder Trial

0

By the early hours of 5 a.m., eager crowds begin to gather outside a courthouse in Texas, all vying for the limited public seats available in what many are dubbing the ‘OJ Simpson trial 2.0.’

Amid the anticipation, tensions have flared, leading to altercations as individuals allegedly jump the queue.

Ensuring order and security, sheriff’s deputies sporting cowboy hats and armed with AR-15 rifles stand vigilant outside the 296th Judicial District Court located at the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney, a prosperous suburb north of Dallas.

These striking scenes mark the opening week of testimony in the State of Texas vs. Karmelo Anthony trial. Anthony, an African American teenager, is charged with the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, a white student-athlete, during a clash at a high school track event in April 2025.

Anthony has acknowledged the stabbing but maintains that he acted in self-defense.

The case has already become unprecedented by Dallas – and even national – standards.

During what’s expected to be a two-week trial, the 19-year-old defendant and his family are being bussed into court through a secure entrance at the rear of the building.

So too are the loved ones of Metcalf, the 6’1″, 213-pound football captain and track thrower who died after the confrontation.

Both families have been subjected to racist abuse, threats to their safety and lives, and a torrent of online speculation and misinformation.

Due to intense media and public interest, the court hand selected nine news outlets to attend the trial, including the Daily Mail.

With only about 70 seats in the courtroom, the select members of the public who are allowed in are given a different color badge every day to control who gets into the courtroom.

But even with a badge, people must pass through security at the entrance of the courthouse and a second set of metal detectors where cops hand-search every bag at the door of the courtroom.

People have been lining up every day, some three or four hours before the court opens at 8am, in hopes of getting in.

Some who haven’t been given access have gone to great lengths to buy their way in.

On Thursday, a woman was offering cash in exchange for a court badge in the women’s restroom on the second floor where the trial is taking place.

If found guilty of the first-degree murder charge, Anthony faces five to 99 years in prison.

On Friday, six different teenagers who were at the stadium and witnessed the stabbing said that during a rain delay at the district-wide track event, Anthony, a student at Centennial High, made his way over to the Memorial High School tent.

The boys began arguing over Anthony being in the tent and Anthony pulled a knife from his bag, driving it through Metcalf’s chest before the victim had even laid hands on him, according to their testimony.

Metcalf died in the stadium, with his twin brother watching coaches and medical staff desperately trying to save him.

Despite prosecutors declaring in opening arguments ‘this case has nothing to do with race’, race has been a factor in almost every aspect of the case.

Jury selection began Monday with nearly 600 Collin County residents who might decide Anthony’s fate. In a normal murder trial, only 80 people might get jury summons, according to local court experts.

Race clearly was an issue for possible jurors, including one black man who stood up and declared, ‘I don’t know that I could put a brother in jail.’

He was sent home.

As lawyers neared picking the final 12 members of the jury plus six alternates Wednesday, controversy erupted when three potential jurors who were black were eliminated from the jury pool by prosecutors because they were educators, and the crime centered around a local school.

Criticism poured in from the black community, who predicted Anthony would not get a fair verdict from an ‘all white jury.’

However, the jury is far from all white.

By the Daily Mail’s count, of the 18 jurors and alternates, 10 are white.

The rest are Asian, Hispanic, Indian or Middle Eastern.

Anthony supporters protesting outside of the courthouse were asked if they would accept a guilty verdict for Anthony if evidence shows he did not kill Metcalf in self defense.

‘We’re going to stand by ours regardless. They stand by theirs,’ one woman told Frontlines.

The racial tensions have fueled endless – often ugly – online debate.

Many compared the trial to the OJ Simpson trial in its scale, intense media interest and the racial tensions that have come to surround it.

In the first few days, jurors saw the murder weapon – a folding knife with a black blade and gray handle still covered with blood and bone fragments from Metcalf, just 16 at the time of his death.

Jurors also watched surveillance footage, showing both Austin and Hunter Metcalf walking into the stadium alive. Anthony was then seen being escorted out in handcuffs by police.

The court was also shown police bodycam footage of the chaotic aftermath.

Metcalf’s parents broke down in tears as they watched paramedics perform CPR on their son after he suffered the fatal chest wound.

Anthony looked uncomfortable as the footage was played.

Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter, could be heard inconsolably shouting, ‘Oh my God. He’s my best friend. He’s my brother!’

Another shocking moment came on Saturday when jurors were shown a photo of the ‘gaping’ two-inch stab wound that ‘completely went through the heart wall’ of the young linebacker.

A female juror was seen covering her mouth as they were shown the most graphic of the autopsy photos.

Anthony looked at his lap while attorneys showed Metcalf’s autopsy photos.

Already, testimony has dispelled rumors and fake online narratives that people have believed for more than a year since the killing took place.

One rumor that had persisted was that Anthony had skipped school the day of the stabbing and wasn’t even competing in the track meet.

Like so many high profile murder cases in the social media age – the Bryan Kohberger murders in Idaho come to mind – conspiracy theories about this case have proliferated online.

‘There are a lot of people that are going to come in here that don’t want to hear the truth,’ Dominique Alexander, a Black activist who is advising the Anthony family, told Daily Mail of the many rumors that have dogged the young suspect.

On the other side, Metcalf’s twin brother Hunter had been accused of ‘bullying’ and ‘ganging’ up on Anthony the day of the stabbing alongside Austin.

On Friday, six different teenagers who were at the track meet testified that Hunter was not involved in the altercation between Austin and Anthony at all.

In a potential blow to Anthony’s self defense claim, six teens who were at the stadium and witnessed the stabbing testified that Anthony had a knife ready and stabbed Metcalf either before or as Metcalf was pushing him.

All testified that Karmelo Anthony was asked to leave the Memorial team tent and provoked Metcalf.

‘I’m not going to fight you at a track meet, dude,’ Austin told Karmelo, according to teen #3.

Another youngster added that Anthony told Metcalf, ‘Touch me and see what happens.’

Under cross examination, one teenage boy, who cannot be named because he’s a minor, was asked to show the jury how Metcalf made the verbal argument between himself and Anthony physical when Metcalf shoved Anthony.

The boy and a defense attorney stood up to role play the shove in front of the jury.

The teen stated Karmelo was sitting on a bleacher with his hands in his backpack as he argued with Metcalf.

When Metcalf, who was standing, moved closer to push Anthony, Anthony pulled the knife from his backpack and drove it into Austin’s chest.

‘He (Metcalf) didn’t get the chance to grab hold of him (Anthony.) He was already stabbed,’ the fourth teen stated.

But before anyone makes up their minds, the Anthony family’s spokesperson, Dominique Alexander, teased there would be many more bombshells when Anthony’s team gets its turn to tell his story.

‘One of the things that the defense is going to come out with is showing that there were other kids from other schools that were under the tent,’ said Alexander.

Alexander added he feels confident things will work out for Anthony.

The trial continues this week.

Critical Mistake Costs Knicks in Game 3: Analyzing the Decisive Moment

0

Mike Brown, with a measured tone and composed demeanor, expressed his frustration after Game 3, suggesting that the Knicks were essentially up against not just the San Antonio Spurs but also the trio of referees officiating the game.

“I don’t usually voice complaints, but I never thought I’d witness such a scenario in an NBA Finals game,” Brown recounted. “It was evident on Monday night, and overcoming that challenge against such a formidable team is no small feat.”

Brown’s concerns were not unfounded. In the second half of the game, the Spurs were awarded 24 free throws, while the Knicks managed a mere eight. This stark disparity would raise eyebrows among even the most impartial observers. While Brown acknowledged that the Knicks were indeed committing fouls, he argued that the difference in fouls between the two teams was not as pronounced as the free throw count suggested.

Despite the controversial officiating, the Knicks had a golden opportunity to clinch a victory on Monday. Had they prevailed, they would have extended their winning streak and moved one step closer to securing the franchise’s first championship since the Nixon era.

Karmelo Anthony Maintains Silence Amidst Analysts’ Concerns Over Defense Challenges in Track Meet Stabbing Case

0

As the trial approaches its final stages, the defense team for Karmelo Anthony has concluded its presentation without having him take the stand. This decision arrives amid skepticism from legal experts about the viability of his self-defense argument in convincing the jury.

Anthony faces charges for the murder of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a student-athlete from Memorial High School, who was fatally stabbed during an incident at a Texas high school track meet in April 2025. While Anthony acknowledges the stabbing, he maintains it was an act of self-defense.

The defense wrapped up its case on Monday, paving the way for the closing arguments, which are set to begin at 9 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

This trial has garnered widespread attention across the nation, sparking discussions on Texas’s self-defense statutes. The case has also been marked by conflicting accounts of the events that transpired under the Memorial High School team tent and has prompted protests at the Collin County courthouse.

Ritter: Defense faces uphill battle

As the defense case neared its conclusion Monday, an unexpected delay in proceedings fueled speculation about what was happening behind the scenes.

Speaking on Fox News’ “The Story,” legal analyst Joshua Ritter suggested one possibility was that Anthony and his attorneys were discussing whether he should testify.

“Perhaps they’re talking to Karmelo Anthony about whether or not he wants to testify,” Ritter, a criminal defense attorney and Fox News contributor, said on Monday.

No plea agreement materialized, and the defense ultimately rested without calling Anthony to the witness stand.

Ritter suggested the defense may have been reassessing its strategy after several days of prosecution testimony.

“We’re hearing that the defense case may not be going as they had hoped and planned,” Ritter said.

According to Ritter, defense attorneys could have been searching for a final opportunity to strengthen Anthony’s position before the case reached the jury.

“Perhaps they’re looking for some last-ditch effort to try to spare him a lifetime in prison,” he said.

Ritter later offered a blunt assessment of the competing cases presented to jurors.

“The prosecution case went very strongly. The defense case doesn’t look like it’s going well,” Ritter said.

Rotunno: Self-defense claim may not hold up

Ritter was not the only Fox News legal analyst who questioned the strength of the defense’s case.

Speaking on Fox News’ “America Reports”, criminal defense attorney and Fox News contributor Donna Rotunno said testimony presented during the trial reinforced her belief that Anthony’s self-defense claim faces significant obstacles.

“I never thought that this case rose to the level of self-defense,” Rotunno said. “This is a sad, awful, tragic circumstance where a young person made a really horrible decision, but decisions have consequences.”

Rotunno pointed to testimony from multiple student witnesses, including one witness who agreed under questioning that Anthony had provoked the confrontation.

“That one question could really turn the tide here,” Rotunno said.

Rotunno also dismissed defense efforts to highlight testimony that the knife Anthony carried was legal under Texas law because its blade measured less than five inches.

“Whether you could have the knife legally doesn’t mean that you could use it in the way that it was used,” she said.

Addressing testimony that athletes from different schools commonly interact at track meets, Rotunno said jurors are likely to focus less on whether Anthony was permitted under the Memorial High School tent and more on how he responded after being repeatedly asked to leave.

“He obviously didn’t want to leave,” Rotunno said. “I think they’re trying to show that he knew exactly what he was doing when he put his hand inside that bag.”

What jurors heard

Prosecutors called 21 witnesses, including student athletes, police officers, investigators and the medical examiner.

Several students testified that Anthony was repeatedly asked to leave the Memorial High School tent before the confrontation escalated. Witnesses recalled Anthony telling Metcalf, “Touch me and you’ll find out” and “If you want me to move, you have to move me.”

Multiple students testified that Metcalf did not appear to be looking for a fight. One witness recalled Metcalf saying, “I’m not going to fight you at a track meet.”

Defense attorneys countered by highlighting testimony that athletes from different schools routinely mingle at track meets, that Anthony was smaller than Metcalf and that witnesses gave differing accounts of the physical interaction immediately before the stabbing.

National attention and courthouse tensions

The trial has unfolded amid demonstrations outside the Collin County courthouse. Supporters of Anthony have gathered throughout the proceedings carrying signs reading “Justice for Karmelo Anthony.”

Outside the courthouse Monday, Next Generation Action Network President Dominique Alexander urged Anthony supporters not to be “baited” into confrontations.

“We do not support chaos. We do not support intimidation. We do not support threats,” Alexander said.

The defense has argued Anthony feared for his safety when he stabbed Metcalf. Prosecutors contend the evidence shows Anthony escalated a verbal dispute into a deadly encounter.

The case now rests on competing versions of what happened beneath the Memorial High School tent and whether jurors believe Anthony’s actions were justified.

Open Heaven 9 June 2026 – Start From Your Jerusalem

Open Heaven 9 June 2026 Tuesday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Start From Your Jerusalem

Open Heaven 9 June 2026 TOPIC – Start From Your Jerusalem

MEMORISE: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. – Acts 1:8 (KJV)

READ: Luke 16:10-11 (KJV)

10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 22-27

Open Heaven 9 June 2026 MESSAGE

Many Christians profess that they are the light of the world, which is good because it is the mandate that Jesus gave his followers in Matthew 5:14. However, many of them have not even allowed the light of Christ to shine in their homes, nor have they preached the gospel of Christ to anyone around them. Do you know that if every Christian took it upon themselves to win their hometown to Christ, the whole world could have been saved by now?

When Jesus Christ stepped into my life, He not only used me to greatly extend the reach of His light in my village, Ifèwàrà, but He also used me to bring the name of my village to the world. Today, the people of Ifèwàrà are glad that Adeboye is from there because they are enjoying the benefits of the light of Christ. Believe me, the development of your hometown rests on your shoulders as a Christian because when you allow God’s light to shine there, the whole world will begin to take notice of the town. No one can ignore light.

When Jesus gave His disciples the mandate to go out and be witnesses to all nations, He told them to start from Jerusalem, then move to Judea and Samaria before taking over the uttermost parts of the earth (Acts 1:8). God’s plan is always that we should start from our ‘Jerusalem’. Beloved, your Jerusalem is your family and immediate community. Tell your family members about Jesus. Preach to your neighbours. Let them see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Your witnessing will not be effective if you want to start from the uttermost parts of the earth. In fact, God will not give you access to the ends of the earth until you have proven yourself faithful in your Jerusalem. He said that He will only commit more into the hands of the fellow who has been faithful in little (Luke 16:10). If you despise your little corner, God will not commit bigger territories into your hands.

Beloved, ask the Lord how you can be more faithful in your Jerusalem. Ask Him to show you how to shine His light before your immediate family effectively. Allow Him to teach you how to show the love of Christ to your neighbours and colleagues at work. May God shine His light through you to your family members, colleagues, members of your community, and the world at large, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 9 June 2026 REFLECTION

Do you reflect God’s love to your family members, neighbours, and colleagues?

Open Heaven 9 June 2026 HYMN 12 – Onward, Christian Soldiers!

1 Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master,
leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see his banner go!

Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to
war, With the cross of Jesus going on before!

2 At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
loud your anthems raise!

3 Like a mighty army
moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

4 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the church Jesus
constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
‘gainst that church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise
and that cannot fail

5 Onward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices,
in the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages,
men and angels sing.

Nick Reiner’s Bold Inheritance Claim Amidst High-Stakes Legal Drama

0

Nick Reiner, the son of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner, finds himself embroiled in a legal battle as he faces charges of murdering his father. In a surprising twist, he has petitioned for his inheritance.

The 32-year-old submitted court documents on Monday, seeking access to the funds his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, had placed in a trust for him. This move comes amid the serious allegations against him.

According to the petition, which was reviewed by the Daily Mail, Nick asserts that he was entitled to receive half of the $1.5 million trust when he reached the age of 30, with the remaining amount scheduled for release at age 35.

However, Nick alleges that the current trustee, attorney Paul Kanin, has repeatedly delayed the distribution of these funds. He claims that Kanin has cited various reasons and “unsubstantiated concerns” about Nick’s ability to “manage a trust,” despite the clear stipulations laid out by his parents.

Compounding his legal troubles, when Nick attempted to hire high-profile defense attorney Alan Jackson to contest the murder charges, the trustee reportedly refused to release funds for Jackson’s retainer. As a result, Jackson withdrew from the case, leaving Nick to rely on a public defender.

According to the petition, Nick told Kanin that ‘time is of the essence’ and explained that he needed Jackson to avoid ‘further jeopardizing my defense in the criminal matter’ as he has no other source of funding for his legal bills or basic supplies like soap and socks while behind bars.

‘Every additional week of delay is a week in which the counsel of his choice cannot investigate or prepare on his behalf – prejudice to his defense that cannot be undone,’ Nick’s lawyers claim.

‘The harm is irreparable and it grows with each day the Trustee withholds funds that are already Nick’s.

Prosecutors say that Nick killed his parents at their $13.5 million home in upscale Brentwood, Los Angeles on December 14

‘In the meantime, for reasons unknown to Petitioner, the Trustee continues to deplete Nick’s funds by paying lawyers to raise one reason after another for holding on to Nick’s money for another two years, all of which violate the plain terms of the Trust.’

The petition also claims Kanin is seeking to pass on the trust to another trustee, and that he originally delayed handing over the funds Nick was owed on his 30th birthday by claiming he believed his predecessor had already turned over the funds.

Nick is now seeking accounting and damages from Kanin.

The murder suspect has previously been represented by Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene who entered a not guilty plea on his behalf to six felony charges, two of first degree murder, two of special circumstances involving multiple murder and two counts of special circumstances using a deadly weapon, a knife.

Prosecutors say that Nick killed his parents at their $13.5 million home in upscale Brentwood, Los Angeles on December 14, fatally stabbing them before fleeing the scene.

Nick, who has a long history of mental health and substance abuse issues , had earlier been seen having a loud argument with his father at a holiday party thrown by TV’s Conan O’Brien hours before his parents’ bodies were found, reportedly by his younger sister Romy.

Nathan Hochman, the LA District Attorney, has said that the death penalty is on the table for Reiner if he is convicted.

‘This case is a death penalty eligible case.’ he declared after an earlier hearing. ‘Along those lines we take the process in which we determine whether or not the death penalty should be sought extremely seriously. That goes through a very rigorous process.

‘We will be looking at all mitigating and aggravating circumstances, and we have invited defense counsel to present to us both in writing and in a pleading, any arguments they would like to make in consideration going forward or not going forward with the death penalty. So that is an ongoing process.’

In a heart-wrenching essay in April, Nick’s older brother Jake shared his horror at finding out that his beloved parents – who were married for 36 years – had been murdered and that his younger brother Nick was charged with their slayings.

He described how his sister Romy, 28, gave him the terrible news, which he said was ‘too devastating to comprehend.’

‘The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened,’ he recounted.

‘I was robbed of so many things that day,’ Jake, 34, continued. ‘My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking. It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me.’

As he was still reeling from the news of his parents’ deaths, Jake said he was horrified to then learn that his brother Nick was the alleged murderer.

‘We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable,’ he wrote.

‘Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the center of it. It’s almost too impossible to process.’

In a blog post this week Nick’s older brother Jake, center, shared his horror at finding out that his beloved parents, left, had been murdered

‘Every day since then has been horrendous,’ he continued. ‘Every meeting we take, every person we talk to, every tear we shed, every movement we make is connected to our parents being murdered.’

‘When you are not living through a tragedy the specific way Romy and I are, it’s hard to wrap your head around just how horrific this has been,’ Jake explained.

‘Because they weren’t your parents, it might be easier to move forward or even forget for a moment about what happened that day,’ he wrote. ‘But for us, it’s every single day.’

Jake also paid touching tributes to his parents, saying that they were ‘the center of my life.’

‘They are my guiding lights, the foundation of who I am as a human being, and the most giving people I have ever known,’ he wrote.

‘A lot of people don’t have the luxury of having the best parents, the best mom, or the best dad, but I did. The love they have for me, my brother, and my sister is truly unconditional.

‘And the love they have for each other in their marriage is something I always looked up to as the standard of what a successful relationship looks like.’

Jake wrote of the anguish he has endured since the murders of his Hollywood legend father and mother Michele in December

While his famous father was a Hollywood legend, Jake described his mother, Michele, as ‘the engine, the backbone, and the heart of our entire family.’

‘She had a passion for life most people wish they could attain.’

He wrote of watching musicals with his mother and going to baseball games with his father, and acknowledged his privileged upbringing as the son of celebrities.

‘It’s not lost on me that I was able to have these incredible experiences, that most people don’t get to have, because of who my parents were,’ he wrote.

‘But I would trade every Dodger game, every Broadway show, every vacation, if I could just spend just one more hour talking to them and to say goodbye.’
