Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper has issued a public apology following a weekend incident that led to both him and his girlfriend being arrested on domestic violence charges. The altercation reportedly arose from a dispute over alleged infidelity.

According to records from Douglas County jail, Cooper, 28, was detained on suspicion of two counts of domestic violence, in addition to a charge of criminal mischief. The arrest took place late Thursday night, with Parker Police taking him into custody at 11:16 p.m., and he was subsequently booked into jail in the early hours of Friday morning at 2:38 a.m.

Jade Fiegen, Cooper’s girlfriend, who is also 28, faced similar charges of domestic violence and criminal mischief. Both were involved in the altercation that brought the situation to the attention of law enforcement.

Cooper made his initial court appearance on Friday in the 23rd Judicial District Court. He is scheduled to return on Monday for a disposition hearing, which will further address the charges against him.

In a statement to The Denver Post, Cooper’s lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, confirmed that Cooper was granted a personal recognizance bond. This bond allowed Cooper to be released from custody without the need for an immediate bail payment, pending his upcoming court appearance.

But now he’s taken to social media to apologize for his actions and he also shared a passage of the Bible with his 60,000 followers.

Cooper wrote: ‘I realize posting a Bible quote right after something very serious happens does not just mean everything is okay. I apologize to my family, to my friends and my community… and so many others.

‘Sincerely, I apologize. This situation is not who I am.’ 

According to the arrest affidavit seen by The Daily Mail, Cooper and Fiegen, who have been dating for ‘approximately four years’, were arguing inside his apartment over allegations he was cheating on her.

Fiegen said she took his phone from Cooper, threw it across the room and then went to retrieve it so she could look through it.

Cooper told police he grabbed Fiegen by her upper arms and eventually managed to get his phone back from her. When she tried again to grab his phone, Cooper told officers he braced his neck against hers to stop her from reaching it.

After the physical struggle had ended, Cooper told officers he went over to the couch and picked up Fiegen’s phone. He told her if she didn’t leave the apartment, he was going to break her phone. 

Cooper then said Fiegen didn’t leave and admitted he bit her phone, which caused ‘disabling damage’. Police officers reported that her phone had a ‘cracked screen’.

Fiegen described the incident differently. The affidavit for her arrest shows she told a separate officer that Cooper ‘grabbed her by the neck’ and held her up against the wall for approximately a minute.

Fiegen also said he picked her up and threw her on the ground approximately three times, and punched the wall ‘next to her face.’

But the officer wrote in the affidavit that the injuries she observed on the Fiegen’s body did not match her retelling of the assault.

‘I observed a small mark on (the woman’s) neck, where she claimed Jonathan grabbed her,’ the affidavit reads.

‘I also observed scratches on (her) arm and a small cut on her hand. These markings and scratches did not appear consistent with a larger male lifting (her) up into the air by her throat as well as repeatedly being thrown to the ground.

‘The small mark on (the woman’s) neck did not appear to be consistent with the claim that (she) had been held up in the air by her throat by another individual.’

Cooper, who was selected by the Broncos in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, had been practicing earlier on Thursday before the incident took place.

‘We are aware of the matter and are gathering more information,’ the Broncos said in a statement. 

Cooper has mae himself an indispensable piece of the Broncos’ defense and has played every single game in the last three seasons, recording 27 sacks.

Last season, Cooper helped the Broncos reach the playoffs and beat the Buffalo Bills before they lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

In November 2024, the Broncos signed Cooper to a four-year contract extension worth up to $60 million that included $33m in guarantees.

John Kamichitis, who traveled from Sterling Heights, Michigan, captured the spirit of the festival. “You just got to love having a good time, hanging out with people, just enjoying, got to catch them all,” he said, reflecting the communal excitement.

This weekend, thousands of Pokémon fans, both local and from afar, converged on Chicago for the Pokémon GO Fest. The event not only celebrated the app’s 10th anniversary but also brought together a community eager to “catch them all” in a real-world adventure.

“So, it is a good way for people to just get outside and enjoy the fresh air,” said Humboldt Park resident Cory Lara. “It’s in Chicago. I mean, this is the only place in America where they are doing it for this season. So, you can’t pass it up. It’s a rare opportunity.”

The festival, which goes through Sunday, returned to the city for the first time since 2019.

“It was where the first three GO fests in the U.S. were based. And, we just thought for the tenth anniversary, why not return home?” said Pokémon GO Global Live Events Manager Divya Erram.

And, in the midst of the gameplay, there is community.

“And you just click on Pokémon here, and you just catch them,” Knox said. “Seeing friends that you haven’t seen in years, and developers you haven’t seen in years, and enjoying Chicago.”

A man from San Diego has sustained severe injuries after being attacked and dragged by a grizzly bear during a hike in Montana.

Daniel Crago, aged 32, recounted the harrowing incident that took place on May 28 in an interview with CBS 8 and on the GoFundMe platform, where he is seeking financial help for his medical bills.

Speaking to CBS 8 on Friday, Crago recalled, “I noticed something to my left, and it turned out to be a smaller cub, but it was already behind me.”

“It kept walking in their direction and didn’t appear to notice me,” he added.

The frightening encounter happened in Glacier National Park, home to around 300 grizzly bears, when Crago suddenly found himself face-to-face with a much larger bear.

Crago told his hometown station: ‘At that point, I did what they kind of teach or train you to do: just alert the bear so you don’t startle. You make them aware. So, I did that.’

After attempting to alert the animal with a quick ‘Hey bear! Hey bear!’, the bear ‘charged,’ he said.

The animal quickly sunk its teeth into his right arm, Crago recalled.

After the attack, the hiker glanced down at his arm to see his hand ‘just kind of dangling,’ he said this week. He shared an X-ray of his arm to a GoFundMe

‘I just kind of thought “this is it.” It bit down on my arm, dragged me maybe 20ft,’ Crago said.  

‘I kind of flipped, landed on my backside, opened my eyes, and the bear had continued running down the mountain.’ 

He looked down at his arm and saw his hand ‘just kind of dangling,’ he told hiking website Backpacker.com.

‘It was just pure panic… I was screaming for help, and started climbing back up toward the trail.’

Thankfully, some nearby hikers were able to help the hiker stop the bleeding and stabilize his arm.  

Crago also told CBS 8 that in another stroke of luck, ‘the bear didn’t injure the wrist, didn’t injure the elbow. It was just a complete crush of the bones, the forearm bones.’

He was then airlifted to a hospital in Kalispell, Montana, he said.

Three surgeries later, Crago ‘will need at least one more,’ he told prospective donors in a description attached to his GoFundMe.

As of writing, Crago has raised $22,351 raised of a $24,000 goal. All proceeds exceeding medical costs will be donated to the National Park Service, he said

Posting from his home in San Diego, Crago said the costs he’s had to incur so far have been ‘overwhelming.’

‘I am reaching out for help to cover these expenses so I can continue my recovery without the added stress of financial hardship,’ he wrote

He thanked the hikers he said ‘saved [his] life’ and friends who visited him at the Logan Hospital staff in Kalispell as well as its staff.

‘Your kindness and expertise saved my life, and I am thankful beyond words. If you are able to support my fundraiser, your generosity will help me move forward and heal. Thank you for being part of my journey.’

‘All proceeds exceeding medical costs will be donated to the National Park Service,’ he wrote.

Montana’s Glacier National Park has a higher density of grizzly bears than any other national park in the continental US. It is widely referred to as ‘bear country.’

Park officials advise visitors to stay vigilant, and that if they do run into a bear, ‘stay calm, speak in a steady voice, back away slowly and do not make sudden movements.’
