Tennessee’s THCA Ban: What You Need to Know Before July 1st Deadline

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — As of July 1, hemp retailers throughout Tennessee will confront the implications of new state regulations, which include a prohibition on most THCA products—a change that some shop owners fear may jeopardize their businesses.

This shift stems from legislation enacted last year that assigned the TN Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) regulatory authority over the hemp sector. Proponents of the law contended that it was necessary to establish oversight in a swiftly expanding market that they perceived as largely unregulated.

“It is the wild west out there. You do not know what you’re buying, and that is a problem,” commented House Majority Leader Rep. William Lamberth, (R-Portland).

Uncover the Hidden Gems: Explore the Must-See Attractions at Karrh Center in Swainsboro!

SWAINSBORO, Ga. () – For those with a passion for the performing arts, the Karrh Center in Swainsboro shines as a delightful local treasure.

In this segment of Your Hometown Roadtrip, we had the opportunity to chat with Michael Harden, the director of the Karrh Center, to uncover the diverse offerings of the theater.

What exactly is the Karrh Center?

“We host movies on weekends, but that’s just the beginning. Our venue welcomes live events encompassing everything from musical bands and theatrical plays to actors performing solo monologues. Community theater is a significant part of our repertoire, and we’re continually expanding our horizons. There’s always something happening here.”

Could you elaborate on the venue itself?

“So this theatre, this building, has been here since 1934. Long time. So, the city took it over, I guess its been about maybe 12 or 15 years ago. Totally redid the whole inside. The first time I came to see this place, was to offer some advice, and I came through the art gallery, which is next door, we came through the upstairs balcony, opened the door and looked down here, and what you’re sitting in now was nothing but dirt. Ans now look at it. It’s phenomenal.

“We have 220 seats, we have a balcony, we have a concession stand area, dressing rooms, a stage, very modern lighting, sound equipment. It’s all just prestigious and brand new and it’s great.”

What do people say about the place?

“So when people come here, they’re always in awe. ‘I didn’t expect it to be this nice.’ And so we’re real thrilled that, people don’t expect it to be as nice as it is. They didn’t think they would have something this local.”

What do want people to say when they come to visit?

“I been in this kind of business now for almost nine years. Performing arts is something that’s very dear to my heart. I want people to be able to walk in here and to get the experience of ‘wow, I can come in here and see things in a local atmosphere just as good as I can go to the Fox Theater in Atlanta, or go to another performing arts center somewhere else, but it’s here in my hometown just a few blocks away.’ I wan them to be able to say it was fun, it was amazing, it was great for the whole family.”

How does this place make you feel?

“It makes me feel proud. Even though I’m not here, this is my house. So, when people come into my house and it’s beautiful and it’s clean, and they enjoy themselves, it’s just what you want. You want hometown goodness. And that’s what this place is. It’s hometown goodness.”

The team wants to thank the Karrh Center for the pleasant visit.

The Karrh Center is located at 107 N Green St, Swainsboro, GA 30401.

Top 4 Morning Exercises to Combat Muscle Loss More Effectively Than Weightlifting for Those Over 50

As we age, particularly after hitting the 50-year mark, muscle loss can accelerate, leading to a noticeable decline in strength. Initially, this reduction in muscle mass might seem gradual, but before long, everyday activities like climbing stairs, carrying groceries, standing up from a chair, or walking longer distances begin to feel more challenging. In response, many resort to intensive weightlifting to counteract the problem. However, such high-intensity routines can often result in joint pain, excessive soreness, and prolonged recovery times, ultimately hindering consistency and progress.

A more effective and sustainable solution for individuals over 50 is incorporating morning exercises into their routine. Engaging in physical activity early in the day helps activate dormant muscles, enhances blood circulation, and improves movement quality before the day’s stiffness sets in. Using bodyweight exercises allows for a comprehensive workout that targets the legs, hips, core, and upper body simultaneously, rather than isolating specific muscles with machines. This holistic approach not only aids in rebuilding strength but also enhances balance, posture, and coordination.

The following four exercises are designed to fortify the muscles crucial for maintaining healthy movement and independence as we age. Each exercise engages multiple muscle groups with controlled tension, while being gentle enough for daily practice. By incorporating these exercises into your routine, you’ll likely notice an improvement in strength, stability, and overall vitality throughout your day.

Morning movement provides a smarter and more sustainable approach for many adults over 50. Early exercise wakes up dormant muscles, improves circulation, and restores movement quality before stiffness builds throughout the day. Controlled bodyweight exercises also strengthen the legs, hips, core, and upper body together instead of isolating muscles through rigid machine patterns. That full-body activation helps rebuild practical strength while improving balance, posture, and coordination at the same time.

The four exercises below strengthen the muscles most responsible for healthy movement and long-term independence after 50. Each one challenges multiple muscle groups through controlled tension while remaining gentle enough for consistent daily practice. Perform them regularly, and your body will start feeling stronger, steadier, and more energized throughout the day.

Sit-to-Stand Squats

Few exercises rebuild lower-body strength more effectively than sit-to-stand squats. This movement directly trains one of the most important daily actions while strengthening the quads, glutes, hips, and core simultaneously. Many adults lose muscle mass because they stop challenging their legs through full standing movement patterns during everyday life. Sit-to-stands restore that lost strength while improving balance and coordination at the same time. The chair also provides safety and support, allowing the body to move confidently through every repetition. Adults over 50 often notice stronger walking endurance and easier stair climbing after practicing this exercise consistently.

How to Do It

  • Sit near the front of a sturdy chair
  • Place your feet shoulder-width apart
  • Lean slightly forward
  • Press through your heels
  • Stand up smoothly
  • Tighten your glutes at the top
  • Lower slowly back into the chair
  • Perform 10 to 15 repetitions.

Standing Wall Push-Ups

Upper-body muscle loss often appears in weaker arms, rounded shoulders, and reduced pushing strength during daily tasks. Wall push-ups rebuild chest, shoulder, tricep, and core strength without placing excessive pressure on the joints. Many adults avoid push-up movements because floor versions feel intimidating or uncomfortable, but the wall setup creates a safer and more approachable angle. The movement also improves posture because the upper back and abdominal muscles stabilize continuously throughout every repetition. Adults over 50 frequently notice stronger arm endurance and improved upper-body control after adding wall push-ups consistently. Controlled movement and full-body tension matter far more than speed during this exercise.

How to Do It

  • Stand facing a wall
  • Place your hands against the wall at shoulder height
  • Step your feet backward slightly
  • Tighten your core gently
  • Bend your elbows slowly
  • Lower your chest toward the wall
  • Press back to the starting position
  • Complete 10 to 15 repetitions.

Standing Knee Drives

Standing knee drives strengthen the hips, core, and legs while improving balance and coordination. Many adults lose muscle mass in the lower body because walking patterns become slower and less dynamic over time. This movement restores explosive leg drive gently while forcing the core and supporting leg to stabilize continuously. The repeated knee lift also increases circulation and cardiovascular activity without harsh impact on the joints. Adults over 50 often feel more energetic and stable during daily movement after practicing controlled standing drills consistently. Faster movement increases intensity naturally without requiring external weights or equipment.

How to Do It

  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart
  • Tighten your core
  • Drive one knee upward
  • Swing the opposite arm naturally
  • Lower slowly with control
  • Alternate sides continuously
  • Maintain a tall posture
  • Perform 20 total repetitions.

Glute Bridges

Strong glutes support nearly every lower-body movement after 50. When the hips weaken, posture declines, and the knees and lower back absorb more strain during walking and standing. Glute bridges strengthen the backside while improving pelvic stability and lower-body coordination. The movement also activates the deep core muscles that help stabilize the spine during movement. Many adults over 50 notice stronger balance, smoother walking mechanics, and reduced lower-back tightness after adding glute bridges consistently. Slow controlled repetition creates excellent muscular activation without stressing the joints or spine unnecessarily.

How to Do It

  • Lie on your back with knees bent
  • Place your feet flat on the floor
  • Press through your heels
  • Lift your hips upward
  • Tighten your glutes at the top
  • Hold briefly
  • Lower slowly with control
  • Perform 12 to 15 repetitions.

Trump Criticizes NBA Star’s National Anthem Gesture: A Controversy Unfolded

0

Donald Trump raised eyebrows over the stance that Victor Wembanyama, center for the San Antonio Spurs, took during the national anthem at the first game of the NBA Finals. However, the 22-year-old from France adopted a noticeably different posture for Game 2.

As the New York Knicks prepared to face the Spurs in San Antonio on Friday, Wembanyama was observed in a prayerful stance during The Star-Spangled Banner. His teammates either placed their hands on their hearts or kept them by their sides. In contrast, during the anthem at the series opener two nights prior, Wembanyama stood with his arms crossed over his towering 7-foot-5 frame.

Trump was questioned about Wembanyama’s initial posture while aboard Air Force One, in an interview with Fox News’ conservative sports outlet, Outkick, on Friday.

“I wasn’t aware of that,” Trump remarked ahead of Game 2. “Is that really what he did? What was his intention?”

Outkick’s Dan Zaksheske informed the President, “No one has inquired about his reasons.”

‘I guess you’ll have to ask him,’ Trump said.

Some online critics have suggested Wembanyama was intentionally disrespecting the United States during Wednesday’s anthem.

‘The dude can’t even respect the American National Anthem being sung,’ one critic wrote on X, echoing a sentiment held by many others.

Outside of Luke Kornet and Mason Plumlee, who placed their hands over their hearts, most of the Spurs positioned their arms at their sides during the performance.

This also infuriated online critics.

‘Spurs players REFUSE to put their hands over their hearts for the national anthem!’ online influencer Matt Wallace wrote on X. ‘They are making millions of dollars to play a child’s game and still feel oppressed somehow…

‘Only 2 players covered their hearts. Take note of which ones!’

The post came across Stephen A. Smith’s attention, prompting the ESPN host to issue a scathing response to Wallace.

‘This is patently false,’ Smith wrote. ‘There are plenty of people who listen to the Nat’l Anthem and simply bow their heads with their hands in front of them or behind their backs and pay respects.

‘Holding your hand over your heart is not a requirement. The Spurs were not being disrespectful in anyway. Who is anyone to say they were just over that gesture? That is utterly ridiculous!!!’

Wembanyama has not yet been asked about his posture during the anthem. Reporters likely won’t have a chance during Friday’s post-game media availability, when questions typically focus on competition.

His decision to pray during Friday’s anthem also angered Wallace, who accused Wembanyama of covering his face.

‘Victor Wembanyama covers his face during the national anthem!’ Wallace wrote on X. ‘This is the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen a foreign player do while playing in the United States. Unbelievable.’

Wembanyama does not identify with any specific religion, but was seen wearing a traditional Middle Eastern garment during the Muslim holiday of Etid al-Adha.

Although he has never protested during the anthem, Wembanyama has expressed concerns about immigration enforcement in the United States, as well as the plight of Palestinians in Gaza.

Decades earlier, the Denver Nuggets’ Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf drew criticism for refusing to stand during the national anthem.

It was in 1996 that Abdul-Rauf began sitting during The Star-Spangled banner or remaining in the locker room until the song was completed.

‘I’m a Muslim first and a Muslim last,’ he told reporters at the time. ‘My duty is to my creator, not to nationalistic ideology.’

Unlike Colin Kaepernick in the NFL years later, the NBA suspended Abdul-Rauf by citing a rule that players and coaches must ‘stand and line up in a dignified posture’ during anthems. He quickly compromised with the league, agreeing to stand during the anthem while quietly praying.

In 2023, Adul-Rauf told The Daily Mail he had no regrets over his protests.

Federal Court Overturns USCIS Policies Impacting Immigration Benefits

0

In a pivotal decision unveiled this past Friday, a federal judge has mandated that a Trump-era agency responsible for managing lawful U.S. immigration cease the implementation of specific policies. These policies had previously led to the suspension of the processing of certain immigration benefit applications.

The ruling was delivered on Friday morning through an extensive order penned by Chief Judge John J. McConnell Jr. of Rhode Island’s U.S. District Court, underscoring a significant shift in immigration policy enforcement.

The decision came Friday morning in a voluminous order written by Rhode Island’s U.S. District Court Chief Judge, John J. McConnell Jr.:

In a searing 135-page opinion, Judge John J. McConnell Jr. wrote that actions to lock eligible asylum seekers out of the immigration system and deny others temporary work permits had made it functionally impossible for a broad swath of people to remain in the country. He said the measures were improperly fueled by “anti-immigration sentiments” and contrary to immigration laws.

The policies, enacted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, included a global hold on asylum applications filed with the agency. U.S.C.I.S. also paused decisions on immigration applications filed by people from the 39 countries, largely in Africa and the Middle East, that are subject to the president’s travel ban, halting their ability to obtain green cards and other benefits.

The sweeping measures also touched lawful permanent residents who have lived in the country legally for years but have been effectively unable to be approved for citizenship because decisions on naturalization applications had ground to a halt.

McConnell wrote that:

“The rule of law has to apply to everyone equally and, as evident here, U.S.C.I.S. has neither ‘followed the law’ nor ‘done things the right way.’”

The opinion continued:

“Over six months later, many of those individuals remain without work, without legal status and without any meaningful ability to plan for their futures,” Judge McConnell wrote.

Judge McConnell…wrote that the various holds violated the immigration laws governing the responsibilities of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and that the agency had routinely applied the law unequally under the policies. He noted in particular strident claims President Trump made last year after the shooting in Washington, blaming immigrants for a range of social problems, including housing shortages and “urban decay.”

The judge wrote that the burden of the changes fell hardest on people who had followed all the procedures demanded of them, rather than immigrants who entered the country illegally, whom the Trump administration routinely vilifies.

“The court is reminded of a line often repeated in discussions around immigration policy: If people wish to immigrate to the United States, they ought to ‘follow the law’ and ‘do things the right way,’” he wrote. “This case serves as a perfect example of immigrants doing just that.”

Judge McConnell was nominated for the federal bench seat in 2011 by former President Barack Obama.

The suit was filed by a group of nonprofit organizations, led by two Providence-based nonprofits, Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island and Refugee Dream Center, according to local publication, The Rhode Island Current. The lawsuit was also joined by union groups that support immigrants’ claims.

The lawsuit against U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services stemmed from the order by President Donald Trump to pause or delay adjudications, particularly for applicants from designated countries, and impose re-review procedures for some refugees, after two National Guardsmen were shot, one fatally, in Washington, D.C., by an Afghan terror suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who was living in the United States on an expired 2021 temporary visa.

High Springs Resident Receives 20-Year Sentence for Juvenile Homicide Plea

Staff Report

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – A 21-year-old man, Christopher Tywan Knight, has been sentenced to 20 years in a state prison after entering a plea of nolo contendere to charges including second-degree homicide, burglary, and false imprisonment.

The incident dates back to February 14, 2021, when officers from the High Springs Police Department (HSPD) responded to a call in the Patricia Gardens neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered a 58-year-old resident who had sustained critical injuries after being assaulted with a baseball bat. Tragically, the victim later succumbed to these injuries.

The ensuing investigation, carried out by both the HSPD and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, ultimately led to the arrest of Knight, who was just 16 years old at the time of the crime.

Initially, Knight was deemed incompetent to stand trial and was subsequently committed to a state psychiatric facility. However, in July 2023, he was declared competent, paving the way for legal proceedings to continue.

On June 4, 2026, Knight entered a plea of nolo contendere to second-degree homicide, along with burglary and false imprisonment in a second case from November 2020. According to the plea document, the maximum sentence for the charges is life imprisonment.

Judge Denise Ferrero sentenced Knight to 20 years in state prison on the homicide charge, with credit for 1,991 days served. She also sentenced him to a concurrent 20-year sentence for burglary with battery and a concurrent five-year sentence for false imprisonment.

HSPD released the following statement: “This conviction represents a significant milestone in a case that deeply impacted the High Springs community. At the time of this homicide, the Patricia Gardens neighborhood was experiencing a series of violent criminal incidents during 2020 and 2021, including shootings, burglaries, assaults, and an attempted sexual assault. These crimes were largely associated with a small group of individuals, including Knight and his associates.

“In response, the High Springs Police Department implemented a proactive policing strategy that included increased patrol operations, targeted enforcement efforts, community meetings, and partnerships with residents committed to reclaiming their neighborhood. Numerous arrests were made during that period, and citizens played a critical role by reporting criminal activity and working alongside law enforcement. As a result of these combined efforts, the Patricia Gardens area experienced a dramatic reduction in crime and has since flourished as a safer community for residents and families.

“Although Knight has been convicted and sentenced, the investigation remains active.

“The High Springs Police Department continues to pursue all leads and will seek accountability for any additional individuals who directed, assisted, encouraged, or were otherwise involved in this crime.”

Mark Carney Vows to Tackle Antisemitism as Controversy Surrounds New Anti-Hate Council Members

0

Prime Minister Mark Carney has issued a stark warning that Jewish Canadians are facing severe targeting, while unveiling a new anti-racism council. However, the council’s composition has sparked controversy, as it reportedly includes two individuals who hold contentious views regarding the Jewish state.

In his address on antisemitism, Carney’s announcement was met with outrage. Critics are questioning the suitability of a council designed to combat hate and antisemitism that appears to include members perceived as unsympathetic to Jewish community concerns.

Omar Alghabra, a former cabinet minister and Member of Parliament from the Liberal party, has come under fire for mourning the death of Yasser Arafat, the former Palestinian leader. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies has labeled Arafat as the “father of modern terrorism.” Additionally, Alghabra attracted criticism for not condemning the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel, as reported by Canada’s Rebel News.

Alghabra’s past statements about Israel have also drawn attention. In 2005, The Jerusalem Post reported that he criticized Toronto’s police chief for participating in a “Walk with Israel” event. He characterized the event as an expression of allegiance to a foreign nation embroiled in unresolved conflict and described Israel as perpetrating a “brutal and the longest contemporary military occupation in the world.”

Canada’s opposition leader, Pierre Poilievre, pointed to a separate encounter with him involving a terrorist organization. “I remember Mr. Alghabra lobbying me before he was in politics to keep Hezbollah legal, so I’m not sure that he’s the right guy to combat antisemitism,” he told reporters.

Howeer, the Jerusalem Post reported that Alghabra had described Hamas as a terrorist organization during a 2016 parliamentary debate.

The other controversial member of the council, Avnish Nanda, represented efforts to keep a pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Alberta in place. Critics of the encampment argued it created a hostile atmosphere for Jewish students following Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel.

In April, B’nai Brith Canada’s League for Human Rights released a report showing that 6,800 antisemitic incidents took place in the country in 2025, representing a 9.4% increase over 2024. On average, this represented 18.6 incidents a day and was the “highest volume” the group has recorded since it began tracking incidents.

“I’m a Canadian-born Jew serving as rabbi of the vibrant Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem community in Montreal, and I was truly shocked to learn that among the people chosen to sit on Prime Minister Carney’s newest council is Omar Alghabra, who publicly mourned the death of Yasser Arafat and remained silent when asked to condemn the attacks of October 7th,” Rabbi Zolly Claman of Montreal’s Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem Congregation told News Media.

“Canadian Jews are struggling to understand how our prime minister believed this would be a constructive appointment,” Claman said.

When announcing the new Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion, Carney stated, “The council has a clear mission to combat racism and hate in all their forms and to guide the Government of Canada as part of our efforts to build a fairer, more just, more inclusive society,” He also said that, “The crisis of antisemitism in Canada today is specific, it’s severe, and it demands a targeted response. And that is what our government is fully committed to,” Reuters reported.

When asked about Prime Minister Mark Carney’s announcement, B’nai Brith Canada, one of the country’s leading Jewish advocacy organizations said that while it welcomed the prime minister’s acknowledgment of rising antisemitism, it believes additional action is needed to address what it views as a growing crisis facing Canada’s Jewish community.

“B’nai Brith Canada acknowledges the Prime Minister’s solidarity with the Jewish community,” Simon Wolle, the organization’s chief executive officer, told News Media. “He was right to mandate that the Special Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion prioritize researching and combating antisemitism.”

At the same time, Wolle questioned whether the newly announced council has the authority and scope necessary to effectively address the problem.

“But we are concerned because the council does not have the power or scale to address this crisis in an appropriate and meaningful manner,” he said. “It is an important aspect of the government’s approach to combating antisemitism, but it is not sufficient.”

Wolle added that B’nai Brith Canada will “continue to call on the government to establish a National Emergency Task Force on Antisemitism, among other initiatives, because the Jewish community needs immediate action, not just words during this time of violence, hate, and threats to our right to exist and participate in Canadian society,” he said. Wolle did not offer comment on either Omar Alghabra and Avnish Nanda appointments.

Claman added, “The Jewish community makes up just 1.2% of Canada’s population, yet is the target of 75% of hate crimes, which is astoundingly disproportionate. Canada does not have a hate problem; it has a Jew-hatred problem. There is a very specific virus spreading rapidly across this country, and our prime minister is administering a broad catch-all antibiotic that will not help.”

Canadian Jewish activist Ariella Kimmel said his speech lacked concrete solutions and failed to address what she described as growing hostility toward Jewish communities.

“There was nothing on the vile chants we hear on the streets, nothing about the mobs that target Jewish neighborhoods, nothing calling for police to enforce the laws that already exist,” she said.

“What Canada doesn’t need is another special council on racism. We need to address the real elephant in the room, the targeting of Jews using ‘Zionism’ as an excusable reason, led by radicalized progressives and Islamist fundamentalists,” she said.

In response to News Media questions, a spokesperson for Canadian Heritage said, “The Ministerial Advisory Council on Rights, Equality, and Inclusion will play a critical role in bringing communities together around our shared values and in confronting hate and racism in our communities, so that all Canadians can live in our country without fear, in safety and dignity.”

The statement continued, “On June 1, 2026, the Prime Minister directed the Council to begin by focusing on antisemitism. The Council has a clear mission: to combat racism and hate in all their forms, and to guide the Government of Canada as we build a fairer, more just, and more inclusive country. Information about the Council, including the terms of reference and member biographies, will be posted online in the near future.”

News Media reached out to both Omar Alghabra and Avnish Nanda for comment.

Stephen A. Smith Urges Donald Trump to Skip Attending NBA Finals

0

Already notorious for its dense traffic, Manhattan is about to face an even larger surge of people. On Monday, the New York Knicks will take on the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, drawing crowds from all corners.

The streets and subways are predicted to be teeming with basketball enthusiasts, eager to fill bars and public viewing spots. Adding to the chaos will be the extensive security presence accompanying President Donald Trump.

As if that weren’t enough, the usual gridlock associated with the United Nations General Assembly will add to New Yorkers’ commuting woes, turning city travel into a daunting task.

Attendees of Game 3 should brace for lengthy security checks upon arrival at the venue, further impacting the flow of the evening.

In light of this, ESPN host and lifelong Knicks fan Stephen A. Smith is urging President Trump to reconsider his plans to attend the game, hoping to ease the strain on the city’s infrastructure.

‘He’s coming to Game 3 of the Finals, and I don’t want him there,’ Smith said during his SiriusXM show on Thursday. ‘It has nothing to do with politics, policy, or anything like that. It has everything to do with him disrupting and contributing at the same time to the chaos that’s going to be existing at Madison Square Garden. If it were Barack Obama coming to the Garden, I would say, ‘Stay home.’ Stay at the White House.

Trump plans to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on Monday

‘You don’t understand what Monday is going to be like in New York City,’ Smith continued. ‘The subways will never be more packed. Don’t drive your cars in Midtown. It will be a parking lot. There is nothing short of madness that is coming the way of everybody come Monday. You don’t understand. I have been covering sports for over 30 years. And I’m telling you right now, come Monday, for Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, I expect to see an environment I have never seen in my entire career covering sports.’

Then there is the possibility that Trump’s presence draws protestors around MSG.

‘This is why I don’t want the president there,’ Smith added. ‘I don’t want people preoccupied with politics and policy, nor do I want him blocking traffic and making it hell for people to enter the freaking arena. I don’t want that problem.’

On Thursday Trump confirmed his plans, which had been rumored since the Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

‘They’re a great team and I’m happy for [Knicks owner James Dolan] because Jim has really been fighting hard to produce such a team,’ Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. ‘The answer is yes, he’s invited me and I’m going.’

Trump then suggested he could see Games 3 and 4 at the Garden.

‘Maybe I’ll do both.’

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is also expected to attend the game, but previously told TMZ he won’t be sitting with Trump. Typically, Mamdani has been seen in the nosebleed seats whenever he’s been at the Garden.

Security is expected to be bolstered ahead of Game 3 with potentially longer lines for fans entering the building.

New York took a 1-0 series lead with a comeback win over the Spurs in San Antonio on Wednesday night. Game 2 will tip-off on Friday at 8:30pm EST.

Prior to Game 1, NBA commissioner Adam Silver voiced his support for Trump’s attendance at the Garden on Monday.

‘Before he ever ran for office, he was a big Knicks fan,’ Silver said of Trump. ‘I’ve been with the league for a long time. I was there at many Knicks games with him in the old days.

‘He attended many of our drafts when they used to take place at Madison Square Garden, and he actually appeared in one of our ‘I love this Game’ spots when I was running NBA entertainment years ago.’

Mamdani has been enjoying the Knicks’ run as much as anyone. While New Yorkers have poured into the streets during their ongoing 12-game playoff winning streak, their Mayor playfully invited Spurs center Victor Wembanyama to a Monday hearing in the city.

‘I’m pleased to invite @Wemby to our second Commission on Government Efficiency hearing on Wednesday June 10th 5-8pm, where we’ll be asking the public for their thoughts on how government can run better,’ Mamdani wrote. ‘Would love to have you there for the whole time!’

That hearing is scheduled to end just as Game 3 of the Finals tips off at MSG.

Mamdani would certainly welcome the 7ft 5in reigning Defensive Player of the Year for the hearing, but his post was an obvious joke that seemed lost on a number of NBA fans.

‘Wemby is not a Knick, not a New Yorker, and not even an American,’ one irate fan wrote on X. ‘Wtf is this.’

‘Wait isn’t that a game day?’ another asked.

One particularly lost fan suggested Mamdani invite someone from the home team instead: ‘Why wemby? Why not a Knick?’

Of course, a great number of Knicks fans were happy to play along in the pre-game euphoria ahead of the Finals opener.

‘Wemby, when the NYC mayor invites you to something you do not turn it down,’ one fan wrote to Western Conference Finals MVP. ‘Show up, June 10th between 5 to 8 pm.’

Another suggested Mamdani ‘should push it to 9pm to make sure everyone gets their thoughts out,’ adding: ‘Wemby would appreciate this.’
