Patrick Clancy and New Wife Rachel Danis Seen Smiling During Lindsay Clancy Trial

0

Patrick Clancy has stepped out in New York City with his new wife, Rachel Danis, as public attention remains fixed on the criminal case involving his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy.

The couple was photographed walking hand in hand through the city on Sept. 2. In several images from the outing, Patrick and Rachel appeared relaxed, smiling at one another as they made their way along the street.

The sighting appears to be among the first public appearances for Patrick and Rachel together since Lindsay Clancy’s widely followed murder trial began drawing renewed scrutiny.

Patrick married Rachel in April, more than three years after the January 2023 tragedy in which Lindsay is accused of strangling the three young children she shared with Patrick before attempting to take her own life.

Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder. Her attorneys have argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the children’s deaths.

While Rachel has not participated in the court proceedings, details about her relationship with Patrick have sparked public interest during the trial.

Four months after his children were killed, Patrick moved to New York City, according to public records obtained by the New York Post.

In 2024, he filed for divorce from Lindsay and began dating Rachel, according to People. The following year, she moved into his Upper East Side apartment, a friend of theirs told the outlet. The couple chose Central Park as the venue for their small wedding.

In court on July 23, Lindsay’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington spoke about how Patrick is “trying to hard move on with his life” following the 2023 tragedy, noting that he had divorced and remarried.

“Patrick Clancy has suffered one of the worst tragedies,” he said, “that anyone could ever suffer.”

The jury has been deliberating Lindsay’s fate for more than six days and has informed the judge twice that they’re deadlocked. If a mistrial is declared due to a hung jury, prosecutors could decide to retry the case.

The couple first met while filming The Light Between Oceans in 2014 and went on to marry in October 2017 during an intimate ceremony in Ibiza, Spain.

They welcomed their first son in 2021 and their second son, whose name has not been revealed, earlier in 2024. They now reside in Lisbon, Portugal, with their two children.

Should celebrity parents balance their careers differently to prioritize family life?

Despite having a settled home base, Alicia and Michael lead hectic lives, with Alicia joking they have become ‘nomads’ as they move between homes in four different countries for work.

The couple typically take turns staying at home with their sons while the other is away filming.

Speaking to The Independent, Alicia said: ‘We’ve been in Lisbon; we’ve been in London a lot, and we spend a lot of time in Italy and France. We’re nomads. That’s the hard part with work, we can’t plan far ahead.’

Alicia shared a rare insight into co-parenting with her husband and opened up about her battles with ‘mum guilt’.

The actress made the rare comments during a stylish shoot for British Vogue ahead of her West End debut last year.

While Alicia admitted both her and her husband’s schedules can be gruelling, she said they make sure never to work at the same time in order for one parent to always be at home with the kids.

‘It can be very long days, and a lot of the time you will leave before the kids get up and then maybe not be back before they sleep. So knowing that one parent is always home. With all the parent and mum guilt that you already carry with you constantly – I am battling that a lot, all the time.’

She also spoke about life in Lisbon following the family’s move to Portugal: ‘My husband said he wanted to surf every day. We’re on the beach with the kids every weekend we are there.’

David Muir’s Love Life Rumors Fans Can’t Stop Discussing

David Muir may be perfectly at ease under the studio lights, but away from the cameras, he has long drawn a firm line around his private world. The “ABC World News Tonight” anchor is especially guarded when it comes to his dating history, offering no public commentary on romance despite decades in the spotlight. Still, that silence has not stopped speculation from following one of television news’ most recognizable figures.

Over the years, Muir has been the subject of recurring rumors about his love life, none of which he has publicly confirmed or denied. More recently, social media exchanges in 2026 helped fuel chatter linking him to CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins. Long before those whispers, Muir was connected to former Jezebel deputy editor Kate Dries after she appeared to joke about a relationship in a 2015 article responding to reports that colleagues had allegedly nicknamed him “anchor monster.” “I’ve just learned — in a public forum, no less — that my boyfriend, ABC News anchor David Muir, is a, quote unquote, monster,” Dries wrote.

Dries’ post appeared to be written with a satirical edge, and she did not publicly revisit the supposed relationship afterward. That same year, Muir was also rumored to be involved with fellow ABC journalist Gio Benitez after photos of them circulated online. Those claims faded after Benitez became engaged to Tommy DiDario that September. In 2022, another round of speculation tied Muir to a mystery man identified only as Sean, but, true to form, Muir never addressed that rumor either. Based on what is publicly known, Muir appears to be single and unfazed by the ongoing curiosity.

Does David Muir even have time to date?

Muir’s reluctance to discuss his personal life may not be the only reason details about his dating history remain scarce. His demanding schedule could also leave little room for romance. In 2014, he told Syracuse.com that his workload was so intense he once had to give a dog to his sister after only a week. “I often work seven days a week. I’m not looking for a pat on the back because I love what I do,” he said.

The real love of his life just might be his family. David has a close bond with the Muir bunch, including his parents and his sister, Becky. An event calls for a date? That’s not a problem. In 2016, David took his mother, Pat Mills, to the White House State Dinner, using the opportunity to gush about their relationship on his socials. “A fancy state dinner once — but I prefer her meatballs and sauce. Love you Mom!” he captioned a 2023 Mother’s Day Instagram post that featured a photo from the event.

David is also close with his sister and her kids, who sometimes feature on his Instagram. “My squad left. Sent the nieces and nephew back to school,” he captioned a 2017 selfie of the four together. Even now that David is in his 50s, he still has a steadfast companion in Becky. In the Summer of ’26, the journalist and Becky went on a dreamy vacation to Italy together. David left fans swooning with a series of snapshots from their time in the Mediterranean, some of which featured his sister. “Heart full and still smiling,” he wrote in the caption.

Patrick Clancy Seen on Hours-Long Walk Days After Mistrial Ruling

0

Patrick Clancy was photographed taking a lengthy walk through New York City, just days after a Massachusetts judge declared a mistrial in the murder case involving his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy.

Clancy, who now lives in the Big Apple, appeared to be taking time to decompress as he moved through the city in casual workout attire, wearing gym shorts and a plain T-shirt.

On Sunday, he kept a low profile during the solo Manhattan outing, finishing the relaxed look with a pair of dark sunglasses.

Clancy had been seen on several occasions during Lindsay Clancy’s trial, including alongside his current wife, though she was not with him during the weekend walk. His sightings came as jurors struggled to reach a verdict.

During the proceedings, he was also observed riding a Citi Bike and visiting potential new apartments, as the high-profile Massachusetts murder trial continued to draw public attention.

Clancy did testify at his ex-wife’s trial but was largely not seen inside the Massachusetts courthouse.

The latest sighting comes just days after Lindsay’s case was declared a mistrial Friday after a lone juror refused to side with the others.

She now faces being retried for the deaths of her three children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months.

Judge William Sullivan announced a mistrial at a court in Plymouth, Massachusetts, shortly before 2.30pm ET Friday after an emergency appeal by Lindsay’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, failed.

She admits killing her children in 2023 but says she did so while overmedicated and suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Prosecutors now face a number of options, including retrying Lindsay on reduced charges or seeking a verdict decided by a judge, rather than by jurors.

The jury panel of nine women and three men spent over 37 hours deliberating the case after five weeks of evidence.

They sent four notes to the judge this week saying they had been unable to reach a verdict. Yesterday it emerged that 11 of the 12 jurors had come to the same verdict, but a twelfth holdout was refusing to follow them.

Reddington filed an appeal claiming this unidentified juror was biased towards people with mental disabilities.

The final note sent by jurors on Friday morning read: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we are unable to come to a unanimous decision and will not be able to.’

Friday’s Hail Mary motion was put before Associate Justice Dalila Argaez Wendlandt around 2pm ET. The brief hearing took place over Zoom, with Wendlandt issuing her ruling rejecting the appeal shortly afterward.

The panel could not agree on whether Lindsay, 36, was guilty of murder, manslaughter, or not criminally responsible for her actions by Friday morning.

During the sensational five weeks of testimony, prosecutors argued the killings were intentional and well-planned, not the work of someone who had lost control.

True crime fans have also floated wild conspiracies that Patrick Clancy is the true murderer and that Lindsay was framed. Clancy has not faced any charges for the death of his children.

After the trial was declared a mistrial, Clancy released a statement through his attorney, expressing gratitude toward those involved.

‘Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance,’ his lawyer David Meier said.

‘The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure.

The Daily Mail previously revealed that Patrick has relocated to a Midtown Manhattan high-rise with his new wife, who is a fertility specialist and doctor.

Public records show Patrick moved from suburban Massachusetts to Manhattan in May 2023, four months after the deaths of his children.

North Korea-Russia Road Bridge Opens as Putin, Kim Deepen Ties

0

North Korea and Russia inaugurated their first road bridge on Monday, according to Russia’s state-run TASS news agency, opening a new crossing over the Tumen River that both governments described as a significant step in their deepening strategic partnership.

The new bridge stands close to the existing “Friendship Bridge,” a rail crossing that was put into service in 1959 in the years after the Korean War.

Moscow and Pyongyang are already connected by direct air and rail routes.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said the road bridge is expected to support broader cooperation between the two countries, including in tourism, while also helping generate new jobs.

“I am convinced that the expansion of cross-border transport infrastructure will provide a powerful impetus for the further development of trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation,” Mishustin said during the opening ceremony, which he addressed by video link, TASS reported.

Construction of the new bridge, which had been under discussion for years, began in April last year after its construction was agreed during a visit by President Vladimir Putin to North Korea in 2024.

The two countries’ ties have grown stronger since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022 with Pyongyang sending thousands of troops to Russia’s Kursk region to help repel a 2024 Ukrainian incursion there.

Biden-Appointed Judge Releases Alleged MS-13 Member Wanted in El Salvador Murder Case

0

A federal judge in California, appointed by former President Joe Biden, has directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to release David Antonio Aviles-Perez, whom federal officials identify as an MS-13 gang member wanted in El Salvador in connection with an aggravated murder case. President Donald Trump designated MS-13 a foreign terrorist organization in 2025.

Aviles-Perez, described by authorities as an illegal alien with a lengthy criminal record in the United States, was released from ICE custody on Wednesday following an order from U.S. District Judge Jinsook Ohta.

The Department of Homeland Security says Aviles-Perez is the subject of an international warrant out of El Salvador for aggravated murder. Federal officials also cite prior arrests in California involving assault with a deadly weapon, controlled substance possession, and petty theft.

ICE took Aviles-Perez into custody in March after he had been released from local custody following an arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. At the time, DHS sharply criticized California’s sanctuary policies, arguing they had allowed a dangerous criminal alien to return to the community. Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said then, “ICE arrested this dangerous criminal illegal alien and MS-13 gang member wanted in El Salvador for murder. Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary policies allowed this gang member to be released from jail after his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and petty theft. Releasing this gang member back into California neighborhoods put American lives at risk.”

DHS officials say Aviles-Perez entered the United States unlawfully at an unknown time and place. Before the judge’s order, he had been held by ICE while awaiting removal and potential extradition to El Salvador, where authorities are seeking him on the outstanding murder warrant.

The details of the murder Aviles-Perez was convicted of in El Salvador were outlined in a report by the New York Post. According to the Post, the international warrant for his arrest stems from a conviction for a 2014 murder Aviles-Perez committed in his home country.

In December, authorities in El Salvador sentenced the violent gang member to a term of 20 years in prison for the murder of an enemy with the help of an accomplice. According to the Post’s report, Aviles-Perez, also known as “la bruja” or “the witch,” and his associates shot and killed the victim during a dispute.

According to a police report obtained by the Post, law enforcement authorities in Monterey, California arrested Aviles-Perez after he allegedly attacked a homeless man by swinging a machete at the victim.

Judge Ohta was appointed to the federal bench as a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of California by President Biden in 2021. She was lauded as being the first Asian Pacific American female judge on the District Court. In her Wednesday ruling, Ohta instructed ICE to release Aviles-Perez, despite the international murder warrant, unless federal authorities prove he poses a danger to the community or is a flight risk. At the time of his last criminal arrest in California, Aviles-Perez was listed as being in a “transient” status.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin expressed his outrage at Ohta’s ruling, saying, “This radical activist judge has put American lives at risk by releasing a wanted murderer. This is now the SECOND time this dangerous illegal has been released back onto the streets in California. Because sanctuary politicians want to play politics from the bench, innocent Americans are in danger. DHS and ICE will not be deterred by these partisan games. If California’s leaders won’t protect Americans, DHS will.”

Wife of British Racing Driver Stunned He Survived Fireball Crash

0

The wife of British racing driver Ollie Millroy has said she can scarcely believe he survived after his Ferrari erupted in flames — and has credited a rival driver’s split-second bravery with keeping him alive.

Millroy, 36, was competing in a China GT race at the Shanghai International Circuit when two cars collided with his Ferrari as he negotiated a bend.

Footage from the crash shows his car spinning violently off the circuit before it is engulfed by fierce flames, with thick black smoke rising over the wreckage.

Dutch competitor Loek Hartog can then be seen stopping beside the burning car, rapidly releasing his seat belt and leaping out to help — a decision that ended his own hopes of victory.

Millroy’s wife, Fern, who is now at his bedside in a Shanghai hospital, shared an update this morning on his injuries and surgery, saying Hartog’s actions saved her husband’s life.

‘Surgery went well yesterday,’ Fern wrote. ‘It took several hours, main work being his right hand. He now has metal along the entirety of his clavicle right side, metal inside his right hand, six broken ribs supported with a compression wrap and on high flow oxygen whilst his lung recovers.

‘Tried to come off the oxygen but his O2 level was just too low. He is in great care at this fantastic hospital in Shanghai and we can’t thank the staff here enough. More X Rays and CT tomorrow morning.

‘I still can’t believe he’s alive, purely down to our real life superhero @loekhartog_.’

Ollie and Fern married in October 2021 and have three young children.

Through a camera near the driver’s seat of Hartog’s car, the 23-year-old can be seen desperately rummaging through the Ferrari’s remains in a bid to free Millroy, who had become trapped in the fireball.

Hartog today wrote: ‘Overwhelmed by the support from everyone over the past two days. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a racing community that looks after each other the way this one does.

‘Thank you for all the messages and support sent to Ollie, his wife and family, and also to me and my family. It really means a lot. I’m travelling back home now and honestly can’t wait to be there. I’m feeling good for now, but there have naturally been a lot of thoughts running through my head over the past few days.

‘Most importantly, I want to make sure those thoughts and everything we’ve experienced are directed towards something constructive. In Ollie’s words: making sure that no two people ever have to go through the same thing again in the future.’

From hospital, Millroy thanked the Dutchman for ‘saving his life’.

He wrote: ‘I am still alive tonight, entirely thanks to one man. Loek Hartog stopped instantly with no flag marshals or fire crews in sight, and risked his own life to get me out of the car.

‘I don’t remember anything between 30 seconds before the crash and 1 hour after it, but I will remember his incredible act of bravery for the rest of my life.

‘One day I will tell our three kids this story and Loek will be the biggest superhero in history in their eyes too.

‘I’m laying here tonight with 5 broken ribs, broken collar bone, broken hand and finger and a bruised lung, but it could have been much worse.

‘Thank you Loek. I owe you my life for your selfless act today.’

Hartog, meanwhile, posted on his own social media: ‘When I saw a car turning into a huge fireball far ahead, there wasn’t really a decision to make.

‘From what I had seen, I genuinely believed the driver might not be able to get out by himself. I stopped, got out and went towards the car. There was never a moment of doubt.

‘It was scary. There were moments where I didn’t know I would actually be able to get Ollie out. But this isn’t about what I did, and I’m sure many people in the same position would have reacted exactly the same way.’

Lululemon Founder Files for Divorce From Wife After 20 Years Without Prenup

0

Lululemon founder Chip Wilson has filed for divorce from his wife of two decades, setting up a closely watched split involving one of the most recognizable names in athletic apparel — and, reportedly, no prenuptial agreement.

Wilson, 71, is seeking to end his marriage to Shannon “Summer” Wilson, 52, who has also been his business partner. The move comes years after he stepped away from the company following backlash over a series of controversial remarks about Lululemon customers.

The American-born entrepreneur, who was raised in Canada and continues to live there, filed a family legal proceeding in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in April, Bloomberg reported.

The specific reasons behind the couple’s breakup after 20 years of marriage have not been made clear. However, people familiar with the situation told the outlet that the Wilsons had discussed their separation with friends.

Those sources also said the couple never signed a prenuptial agreement, leaving questions over how their assets may ultimately be divided, according to Bloomberg.

Wilson stepped away from the athleisure-wear company over a decade ago along with his wife, who worked as Lululemon’s founding lead designer and one of the first employees.

The founder got into some hot water after publicly condemning the ‘whole diversity and inclusion thing,’ which he described as a detriment to the brand following his departure.

Wilson made controversial comments in 2013 on the bodies and weight of some of his customers, who he said caused him to recall pants in the store over sheerness that revealed women’s rear ends.

‘Quite frankly, some women’s bodies just actually don’t work for [the pants],’ he told Bloomberg in 2013.

‘It’s more really about the rubbing through the thighs, how much pressure is there over a period of time, how much they use it.’

The company was forced to pull nearly 17 percent of its popular black Luon pants and offered full refunds or exchanges after customers complained that they were see-through.

Stock for Lululemon dropped by 17 percent after grossing nearly $1.4 billion in sales the year prior, ABC News reported at the time.

Although Wilson later apologized for the comments, he departed the company not long after.

Wilson would later tell Forbes in 2024 that the company’s decision to advertise ‘unhealthy’ and ‘sickly’ people was drawing in the wrong clientele.

The founder accused the company of ‘trying to become like Gap’ by appealing to the masses, or becoming ‘everything to everybody.’

‘I think the definition of a brand is that you’re not everything to everybody,’ he told the outlet. ‘You’ve got to be clear that you don’t want certain customers coming in.’

Exact circumstances surrounding the couple's split after 20 years of marriage remains unclear, however sources familiar with the matter told the outlet that the pair spoke of their separation with friends

Lululemon said in a statement to TODAY at the time that Wilson ‘does not speak for lululemon, and his comments do not reflect our company views or beliefs.’

‘Chip has not been involved with the company since his resignation from the board in 2015 and we are a very different company today.

‘Lululemon is committed to creating and fostering an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment throughout our organization and across our communities. We have made considerable progress since launching our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action (IDEA) function, and we are proud of the goals we have achieved.

‘We also recognize that becoming a more diverse and inclusive organization takes time and is only possible through the sustained efforts of our leaders and our people. We remain steadfast in our commitment to become a more inclusive and diverse company.’

His wife also holds around a one percent stake in the company, valued at roughly $100 million, according to the outlet.

Lululemon has shares sitting at their lowest in eight years, with stock that fell by 17 percent last week.

Former Nike Inc executive Heidi O’Neill is set to come in as chief executive on Tuesday, the outlet reported.

The Daily Mail reached out to Lululemon and attempted to reach Chip and Summer Wilson for comment.

California Woman Charged With Murder After Allegedly Running Over Friend

0

A California woman is facing a murder charge after authorities say she fatally struck a friend with her SUV inside their apartment complex.

Anila Baby, 32, has been charged with one count of murder in the August 28 death of 35-year-old Anjana Hari, according to a Santa Clara County criminal complaint obtained by the San Francisco Gate.

Prosecutors allege in the complaint that Baby killed Hari with “malice aforethought.” The filing also cites aggravating factors, claiming the death involved “great violence, use of a weapon and planning.”

Milpitas police said officers were called to the Mill Creek Apartments in Milpitas shortly after noon on August 28, where they found a woman later identified as Hari with “severe head trauma and bleeding.”

Hari was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Mercury News.

One witness then told police that Hari ‘appeared to be smiling and seemed to be friendly with the driver,’ while another reported that the victim and driver were ‘good friends,’ ABC 7 reports.

A third witness told officers he saw the SUV stopped in the apartment complex, where both Baby and Hari lived, and when Hari moved in front of the vehicle it ‘suddenly accelerated.’

Court records indicate the vehicle then continued forward, hitting three parked cars before fleeing the complex.

A traffic officer who reviewed the scene also reported finding no tire marks indicating Baby attempted to brake.

Meanwhile, cops in responding patrol cars reported seeing a blue Toyota SUV driving recklessly and pulling into a nearby Walgreens parking lot.

When officers then approached the vehicle, they noticed it had ‘heavy’ front end damage and Baby was still inside.

She appeared ‘incoherent,’ was unable to answer officers’ questions and had ‘visible injuries and blood on her arms and legs.’

A motive for the alleged hit-and-run remains unclear.

But the New Indian Express reports that the crash came moments after Baby allegedly stabbed her roommate Ann Mathew.

She then allegedly called Anjana downstairs before ramming her car into her.

All three women are from Kerala, India, with Anjana moving to the US in 2021.

She is now survived by her husband, Vijeesh, and their six-year-old daughter, with friends now raising money to help the family cover funeral costs and living expenses.

In the meantime, Union Minister Suresh Gopi said all steps would be taken to bring the women’s remains back to Kerala.

He said he spoke to the Consul General at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, and was informed that the funeral homes handling the remains had been directed to complete the documentation required to send the bodies back to India.

But Gopi also said the timing of the repatriation was yet to be confirmed, as US authorities may retain the bodies for further investigation.

Baby is now due back in court for an arraignment on September 10.

Miami Firefighters Climb Into Amazon Cargo Jet Amid Fire Scare

Miami firefighters were seen climbing into the cockpit of an Amazon cargo jet after it crashed and left five people dead — just moments after emergency radio traffic captured crews urgently warning dispatchers, “The plane is on fire,” as they rushed toward the wreckage.

The Boeing 767 jumbo freighter had departed Puerto Rico shortly before 11:45 a.m. local time Sunday before it overshot the runway at Miami International Airport, hit several cars and finally came to a stop. Five people were killed in the crash.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded immediately, with the first units reaching the scene within 30 seconds of the emergency call, officials said.

“The plane is on fire!” one firefighter told dispatchers in Broadcastify audio first obtained by the Miami Herald.

“The plane is on fire. Put your game face on guys.”

Video, which has since surfaced online, showed the jet skidding, with bright orange flames shooting from its right engine before coming to a stop.

Firefighters propped a ladder up against one of the cockpit’s windows – and one was seen making their way into the plane, video obtained by Reuters shows.

The pilot and co-pilot, who have not been identified, were trapped inside, Ray Jadallah, the Miami-Dade fire chief said.

At least two people were trapped in cars that the 32-year-old plane, which was converted into a freighter in 2015, had struck.

Three of the five people injured were in a critical condition, Jadallah said. The victims are yet to be identified.

The plane’s tail was tilting up into the air and fire crews swarmed the back of the scorched jet.

Some 60 MDFR units of 200 firefighters raced to the scene.

Foam was used to put out the flames and crews had to deal with a fuel leak.

The jet’s left engine was still running, which made it dangerous for rescuers to enter the jet amid the risk of toxic gases or explosion.

Pilots couldn’t turn the engine off because they needed to ”energize” the plane. Power may have been needed for communication systems or to unlock doors for example.

Prime Air Flight 7598, which was operated by 21Air, landed in Miami just before 2 p.m. Sunday and was traveling at 129mph when it overshot the airport’s runway 30, which is 9,000 feet long.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated – but it has since emerged that the runways at Miami airport were not fitted with what is known as an Engineered Materials Arresting System.

The EMAS, which is designed for aircraft weighing more than 12,500 pounds, is a type of crushable concrete that helps bring planes which overshoot the runway to a stop.

It’s not mandatory for airports to install an EMAS – despite being recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Miami airport officials were not required to install the system because it has a runway safety area, WPLG reported in February.

Key West, Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale are just some of the Floridian airports that have EMAS installed.

The crash sparked widespread disruption, with more than 160 flights canceled and around 325 delayed.

Scores of travelers were trying to catch flights for the Labor Day weekend.

“This airport is packed,” Lisa Walker, who lives in Hurley, Mississippi, told the Times.

“Some people are being told it will be Tuesday before they can even get a flight.”

Witnesses who live near Miami airport recalled how an unfamiliar acrid stench had filled the air.

“It didn’t smell like when the Everglades are burning,” Beth Tilman, 64, said.

“It wasn’t trees burning. It wasn’t mangroves burning. It was some other odor that I, honestly, had never smelled before.”

Sunday’s plane crash came 29 years after a Fine Air Flight 101, which was bound for Las Américas International Airport in the Dominican Republic, crashed almost immediately after takeoff at Miami airport, killing five.
