Ohio Democratic Governor Candidate Amy Acton Attacked by Armed Man

0

Democratic Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton was targeted by an armed man during a public event, in an incident that left several people injured.

Acton and her husband were not hurt after an “armed individual lunged” at her while she was attending a fair in Canfield, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said in a statement.

“Fran and I are thankful Dr. Amy Acton was not hurt, and we send our thoughts to those who were injured. We spoke to Dr. Acton this afternoon and she said to share with Ohioans that she is ok,” DeWine said.

The governor said law enforcement is now handling the investigation into what happened at the fair.

Acton, a Democrat, is seeking to win the Ohio governor’s office in a race against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.

Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman Christopher Anderson said Acton was at the county party’s tent at the fair when the man lunged at her. He added that the suspect has been arrested.

During the attack, the suspect knocked volunteers to the ground before being taken into custody.

‘Let me be clear – The Mahoning County Democratic Party abhors political violence in all forms,’ Anderson wrote on Facebook.

‘What happened at our tent today during today’s visit from Dr. Acton is reprehensible and should be condemned by leaders on all sides of the aisle.’

DeWine described the incident as involving a man who ‘tried to forcefully push himself toward Dr. Acton as she was speaking.’

Acton and her husband Eric thanked first responders in a statement from her campaign.

‘Dr. Acton and Eric are grateful for the swift and decisive action of law enforcement and are praying for the recovery of those injured,’ Communications Director Addie Bullock said.

‘This kind of violence has no place in Ohio. Dr. Acton will always stand up to the chaos, hate and vitriol that pits us against one another.’

The Ramaswamy campaign – who had been scheduled to attend the fair as well on Sunday – condemned the attack when reached by The Daily Mail on Sunday.

‘Candidates should be able to meet with voters without having to worry about threats or violence,’ said Connie Luck, Ramaswamy’s communications director.

‘What happened today is completely unacceptable and has no place in politics, and we hope that no one was hurt.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Canfield Police Department, Ohio State Troopers and the Acton campaign for further details.

Acton is the former health director for the state of Ohio under Republican Governor DeWine in 2019 and 2020 and led the state’s COVID response.

Her high public profile and robust early fundraising have made Democrats hopeful of winning back the governor’s office for the first time since 2006.

Acton became a household name across Ohio in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic as she stood alongside Mike DeWine during daily coronavirus broadcasts.

Her comforting presence during the crisis made her a beloved figure with many Ohioans.

Her campaign also has highlighted her rough childhood, overcoming poverty, homelessness and sexual abuse while growing up in Youngstown.

But the administration’s aggressive pandemic actions — including shuttering businesses, closing schools and canceling an election — also earned Acton plenty of enemies and made her the occasional target of people upset about the policies, with some armed protesters showing up outside her home.

Ramaswamy, who has parlayed his national name recognition, tech industry connections and alliance with President Donald Trump into a record fundraising haul that he is tapping for advertising spots aimed at the November election.

He is using campaign rallies and advertising to criticize Acton, the state´s former public health director.

Ohio has not elected a Democratic governor since 2006.

At Least 5 Dead After Amazon Cargo Plane Skids Off Miami Runway

MIAMI — An Amazon cargo aircraft ran off a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, hitting vehicles before erupting in flames and leaving at least five people dead, authorities said.

The plane overshot the runway at about 2 p.m. after a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Miami-Dade County officials said at a news conference that five people were killed, three others were critically injured and two more were taken to hospitals with less serious injuries.

The crash drew a large emergency response, with more than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units dispatched to the airport. Firefighters arrived to find the aircraft burning as crews moved to knock down the flames and evaluate the injured.

Images from the scene showed the Prime Air plane stopped beside a roadway near two semi-trucks. The aircraft appeared to be resting on its belly and, despite the fire, remained mostly intact.

The flight was operated by 21 Air, a North Carolina-based cargo carrier. According to the flight-tracking site Flightradar24, the 32-year-old Boeing 767 was originally built as a passenger jet and flew for multiple airlines for more than 20 years before being converted for cargo service in 2015.

About 250 flights were delayed at the airport late afternoon Sunday, according to FlightAware, a website that tracks flight disruptions.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it was gathering information about the crash.

“We’re working closely with local authorities and officials to understand exactly what happened,” Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said in a social media post. “Right now, our absolute priority is the safety, well-being, and care of everyone involved.”

Gainesville Man Arrested After Stolen Car Crashes Into Pond

0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 23-year-old Gainesville man, Jonathan Alexander Quino, was arrested Thursday after deputies say he took a friend’s car without permission, crashed it into a pond near Celebration Pointe, and removed the vehicle’s license plate before fleeing.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was called to the area on September 1 for a hit-and-run crash and discovered a Toyota abandoned in a pond near Celebration Pointe. Witnesses reportedly told deputies the driver ran north through the parking lot while carrying the tag. The deputy said he spotted a tall, slim Hispanic man leaving the crash scene and ordered him to stop, but the man continued running. Investigators later found the Toyota’s license plate in a wooded area near the path where the suspect had fled, the report states.

The following day, the Toyota’s owner contacted authorities and said she had been spending time with Quino at her apartment the night before the crash. Before she went to sleep, she said, Quino told her he was waiting for someone to pick him up and take him home. She later woke up to several calls informing her that her Toyota had been located in a pond near Celebration Pointe.

The victim told deputies that Quino was the only person who had access to her keys, but she had not given him permission to use or drive the car. She described him as a tall Hispanic male with curly black hair and said he had written her an apology note afterward, though she had thrown it away.

Quino was taken into custody on September 5 at his residence in Hidden Oak Mobile Home Park. After being read his Miranda rights, he allegedly admitted that he took the woman’s vehicle from her apartment without consent, crashed it, removed the tag, and ran from the scene. He reportedly told deputies he fled because he was scared.

Quino has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, petit theft of the tag, tampering with evidence for removing the tag, and resisting an officer without violence.

The report notes that Florida Highway Patrol worked the hit-and-run portion of the investigation, so additional charges may be pending.

Quino has no local criminal history, and Judge Sheree Lancaster ordered him released on his own recognizance.

5 Dead, Several Injured as Amazon Plane Overshoots Miami Runway

0

At least five people died after a Boeing cargo plane operating for Amazon crashed in Miami, overshooting the runway and coming to rest on a busy road.

Footage and photos from the crash site shared by NBC Miami showed the Amazon-branded aircraft sitting dangerously close to a building as thick smoke poured from the plane.

The cargo jet was arriving at Miami International Airport from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it went beyond the end of the runway at about 2 p.m. Sunday and “struck multiple vehicles” on Northwest 42nd Avenue, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told the Daily Mail.

Firefighters reached the scene within 30 seconds of the emergency call and found several people trapped inside their vehicles, Fire Chief Raied Jadallah said during a news conference Sunday evening.

Crews also encountered heavy flames and dense smoke coming from the aircraft as they began their rescue response.

‘What we found was a very complex situation here,’ he described.

At least five people were killed in the tragedy, while three others remain in critical condition at a local trauma center.

Two others were also transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Authorities have not yet identified the deceased nor the victims taken to the hospital.

The Prime Air plane ultimately came to a rest on its belly near two semitrucks and appeared to be largely intact despite the fire.

But in distressing radio traffic obtained by the Miami Herald, a firefighter could be heard telling colleagues: ‘The plane is on fire. The plane is on fire. Put your game face on guys.’

Firefighters could also be heard on the emergency radio dispatch scrambling to get hoses close enough to the plane to spray water to suppress the flames.

Making matters worse, the aircraft’s left engine was still running when firefighters battled the blaze, making it dangerous for them to enter the plane to check for patients inside.

The firefighters could be heard in the radio traffic saying the pilots onboard told them they could not turn the engine off because they would need to ‘energize’ the aircraft, leaving firefighters on the scene forced to flood the engine with water.

Meanwhile, Rohan Ellis, 34, a student pilot who was on the other side of the airport when the Prime Air plane crashed, described the vehicles on the road as ‘mangled’ to The New York Times.

Following the crash, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced he issued a full ground stop at the airport.

‘If you’re traveling through the area, please expect significant delays and potential cancellations,’ he posted on social media, adding that the Federal Aviation Administration will send inspectors to the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board has also said it launched a team to investigate the ‘runway excursion accident.’

Miami International Airport has since reopened two of its four runway, but flights are still being impacted, with about 250 flights delayed at the airport late Sunday afternoon, according to FlightAware.

In the meantime, Amazon said in a statement that it is still gathering information during this ‘fast-moving situation.’

‘We’re working closely with local authorities and officials to understand exactly what happened,’ it said.

‘Right now, our absolute priority is the safety, well-being, and care of everyone involved. We’re doing everything we can to support those affected.’

A spokesperson for the airport also told the Daily Mail that the plane ‘overran Miami International Airport’s diagonal runway and is disabled at the northwest end of the airport.’

New Sephora Beauty Launches Everyone Will Be Talking About This Season

0

Welcome to Polished with Elise Wilson, the column where Daily Mail’s qualified makeup artist and hairstylist answers your beauty questions, offers expert tips, and road-tests the latest skincare and makeup trends so you don’t have to.

As a beauty editor — and, admittedly, a rather stretched millennial woman — it takes something genuinely special to make me feel wide-eyed with excitement.

But place me in a room packed with thousands of unreleased beauty products from across the globe, and suddenly I’m channelling Charlie Bucket with a golden ticket in hand.

That was exactly the mood at Sephora Australia’s highly anticipated showcase in Sydney, where beauty editors, influencers and industry insiders were invited to preview the major new products, brands and innovations set to arrive for Spring/Summer 2026.

I’ll admit I may have spent a little too long talking my way through the event to examine every single launch in detail, but a handful of standout new beauty buys instantly demanded my attention.

From a major foundation overhaul seven years in the making to cream-to-powder blushes, glossy hair treatments and the return of a makeup brand many of us have desperately missed, these are the Sephora launches I think are genuinely worth having on your radar.

Sephora has pulled off some particularly impressive coups this year, including the arrival of Hourglass and the impending launch of Merit – two names that are likely to have rival beauty retailers like Mecca looking over their shoulders at.

Of course, it’s not only the atmosphere and the hype that are the reason industry elite are falling over themselves for an invite, but also the goodie bag at the end that everyone walks out with.

'Last week, I attended Sephora Australia's much-hyped showcase in Sydney, where beauty editors, influencers and industry experts were given a first look at some of the biggest products, innovations and brands landing on shelves for Spring/Summer 2026' - Daily Mail's Beauty Expert, Elise Wilson

So, after much chatting, swatching, playing and trialling over the past week, what really does deserve a spot in your beauty cabinet? Here are my picks.

Mark Jacobs is back!

Of all the launches this year, this one delivers perhaps the biggest dose of nostalgia.

Marc Jacobs Beauty officially returned to Australia this month after disappearing from beauty counters in 2021.

Anyone who remembers the original line will understand the excitement. Its long-wearing eyeliners, Omega Bronzer and Coconut Hydrating Primer became staples in many makeup bags before the brand abruptly vanished.

Arriving at a time when pared-back ‘clean girl’ makeup has dominated our feeds for years, I am very pleased to say that OTT, camp and colourful makeup palette’s are back.

The bold silky duo chrome eyeshadows containers and liners extend well beyond your standard brown and black into shades including bright daisy yellow.

Although I don’t know if I’m bold enough to donne the electric blue mascara yet.

Merit Beauty is finally coming to stores

If your makeup philosophy is less ‘full glam’ and more ‘please just make me look alive in under five minutes’, you probably already know Merit.

The minimalist beauty brand first arrived in Australia online in late 2024, bringing cult products including its Minimalist Complexion Stick and Flush Balm with it.

The problem was that we had to order from America and we couldn’t actually swatch any of it.

Merit will officially launch exclusively into Sephora Australia and New Zealand on September 30, with the range available across 37 stores well as online.

Oh, and almost the entire line – yes, including fragrance – is coming along for the ride.

Hourglass has changed allegiances

This was arguably one of Sephora Australia’s biggest beauty gets of 2026.

Hourglass officially landed at the retailer in February, bringing cult products including its Veil Hydrating Skin Tint and Vanish Airbrush Concealer with it.

And yes, considering where Australian beauty shoppers traditionally bought the brand, its arrival certainly raised a few eyebrows.

One of the newer products to tempt me are the Phantom Blur Balms ($66). These feather-light lipsticks are designed to create that soft, blurred wash of colour for up to 12 hours.

Fenty reinvents their cult foundation

Retiring a cult foundation is a risky business, but Fenty Beauty isn’t exactly known for playing it safe.

After phasing out the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, the brand is launching its replacement, the Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Natural Matte Longwear formula ($76), this September.

I’m told the new iteration was engineered in Japan and reportedly draws on more than seven years of customer feedback.

There are 50 shades, with a medium, buildable finish that’s designed to look like skin rather than a mask.

For application, I’d pair it with the new Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Foundation Brush 165 ($56), which is designed specifically to buff the formula seamlessly into skin.

It Cosmetics take hybrid makeup up a notch

IT Cosmetics’ CC+ Cream is already one of my all-time favourite makeup bases, so naturally its latest complexion launch caught my eye.

The Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm ($65) is essentially makeup for people who want their makeup doing several jobs at once.

The four-in-one solid balm is made up of 92 per cent skincare and combines hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and biosynthetic collagen peptides with pigment.

There are 15 ‘flexible’ shades and you can apply it sheer or build it up depending on how much coverage you want.

Cream-to-powder blush is having a moment

If the showcase made one makeup trend particularly obvious, it’s that cream-to-powder colour is coming for our beauty bags.

At the affordable end, Sephora Collection’s All-In-One Cream Color Blush ($28) comes in six shades and can be worn across your eyes, cheeks and lips.

At the considerably more boujee end is Prada Touch Cream-To-Powder Blush ($85) which melts into skin before transforming into a seamless finish.

I’d love to meet someone that can justify an $85 blusher, but each to their own.

Olaplex expands range with a mist

I’m always interested in products that can make second-day hair look like you’ve made far more effort than you actually have.

I don’t know if I’m showing my age, but I was originally one of the first to review Olaplex when it launched in 2014, so receiving this new No.7 Shine Serum Oil Mist ($70) was like a walk down memory lane.

The bi-phase repair treatment combines high-shine oils including Kalahari melon seed, kukui nut and rosehip extract with a reparative serum, promising up to 96 hours of shine and hydration.

It also offers heat protection up to 232C and uses OLAPLEX’s Bond-Building Technology, with the brand claiming it helps reduce breakage by 75 per cent.

Body mists aren’t just for the teens anymore

If you thought body mists belonged exclusively on the dressing tables of teenagers in the early 2000s, I have great news for you.

I’ve reported on this months ago, but a lighter way of wearing scent is having a comeback, and Valentino Beauty is joining in with a limited-edition collection of Hair & Body Mists ($75 ea) in four delicious scents.

For years, fragrance has been obsessed with intensity and longevity, but now we’re seeing our scent collections becoming a lot more casual – something you can mist over your hair and body throughout the day.

Hailey Bieber fans will want this body scrub

Naturium’s Glow Getter body range already has some famous fans with its body butter appearing among Hailey Bieber’s beauty favourites, and now there’s another product joining the glowing-skin line-up.

The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Scrub ($33) combines sugar crystals with linoleic-rich botanical oils, 20 per cent glycerin and squalane to exfoliate while leaving skin soft and hydrated.

It also has the range’s signature vanilla-coconut scent and perfect time for getting our pins out this summer.

Here’s the cheat code to pillow lips

Huda Beauty’s new Liquid Matte Mousse Soft Blur Lip Cream ($43) taps directly into our ongoing obsession with blurred, soft-focus lips that are loved on the red carpet and runways.

The whipped mousse formula has a soft-matte finish and comes in eight nude shades.

Rather than creating a sharply outlined lip, you can apply it through the centre and blend it outwards for that diffused, pillowy effect Huda herself wears so well.

Makeup by Mario is adding sparkle to his collection

There’s a reason the Kardashians’ makeup has inspired approximately a million tutorials over the years, and their OG makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic has built a beauty empire off the back of that expertise.

Makeup by Mario’s eye products have developed particular cult status thanks to their wearable shades and formulas, and now his cream shadows are getting a shimmering update.

The Soft Shimmer Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadows ($45) come in eight shades and deliver the easy cream-shadow appeal of the originals with a lot more sparkle.

ONE SIZE really does fit all

For those looking to enhance and not hide their features, the new One Size Ultimate Color Corrector Stains ($47) are designed to brighten, neutralise and correct discolouration for up to 12 hours without coming off.

It comes in six targeted shades whether you’re fighting dark circles, redness or uneven tone and are small enough to add to any makeup bag.

Also on my radar is the brand’s Oil Sucker Spray ($57), which isn’t brand new, but as the great name suggests, is aimed at anyone whose makeup tends to turn shiny as the day goes on.

K-Beauty is much easier to find now

K-beauty’s domination of Australian skincare shows no sign of slowing down, and I’m personally all for this.

Popular Korean skincare brand ANUA made its physical Sephora debut in April, bringing its barrier-focused, soothing formulas onto shelves.

This one particularly excites me because I recently visited South Korea and had the opportunity to meet the ANUA team myself, so I’ve seen first-hand just how much thought goes into the brand.

And its profile is only getting bigger, with Kendall Jenner now fronting the brand.

There were plenty more launches packed into the showcase but these were all the products and brands that had me taking mental notes as I made my way around the room.

If this showcase was any indication, Spring/Summer 2026 is shaping up to be a very expensive season for beauty lovers.

Kylie Jenner Reveals She Still Hasn’t Moved Into Dream Home

0

Kylie Jenner is giving fans a rare peek inside her long-awaited dream home, sharing new footage of the still-unfinished property in a recent YouTube video.

The 29-year-old entrepreneur posted the six-minute update on Sunday, taking viewers along as she checked in on construction at her Calabasas mansion, a property she bought from Miley Cyrus for $15 million in 2020.

“I’m going to go to my construction site. I have been building a house for like six years. I bought the property in 2020,” Jenner told her 12.1 million subscribers as she introduced the project.

Although Jenner admitted she had not originally planned to share details about the home, which she called “my beautiful dream Italian home,” she said she ultimately decided to open up because “it’s kind of already all over the internet anyway.”

Once she arrived at the sprawling site, Jenner revealed that she brought in acclaimed landscaper Jim Hyatt, best known for his work at the iconic San Ysidro Ranch.

The entry to the lavish abode is paved with reclaimed cobblestone, which is framed by olive trees and lavender.

The Kylie Cosmetics boss was dressed in a one-shoulder black tank top and low-rise cropped black trousers that flashed her midriff.

She draped a grey cardigan over her shoulder and wore sporty black sunglasses throughout the footage.

The star told viewers she’d just wrapped a day of meetings around 3pm, and was headed to the site to do ‘approvals.’

According to an August 2025 report from The Sun, she dropped $500,000 on olive trees to surround the property.

And in Sunday’s YouTube video, she explained that her sister Kendall Jenner had been doing construction at one of her homes and ‘had to get rid of all of these baby olives.’

‘Not only are they so beautiful, it reminds me of my sister,’ Jenner gushed about the trees.

The reality television personality has previously given her social media followers glimpses at the construction progress.

In February, she teased an unfinished laundry room, writing in her Instagram Stories, ‘Yummy laundry room happening.’

New Lakers Forward Shares Candid Take on Team Chemistry

0

Sandro Mamukelashvili has not yet made his official NBA debut in a Los Angeles Lakers jersey, but the newest chapter of his career already appears to be off to a meaningful start.

During a golf-course interview with ESPN’s Deondre Hawkins, Mamukelashvili opened up about the Lakers’ recent visit to Slovenia, the home country of superstar guard Luka Dončić.

“First of all, shoutout to Luka,” Mamukelashvili said, praising both Dončić and the way the experience was arranged. He noted that the organization handled the trip impressively, giving the group a chance to see memorable locations while also calling Ljubljana a “really, really nice city.”

Beyond the sightseeing, Mamukelashvili said the Slovenia trip served a bigger purpose for a Lakers roster featuring several new faces. Spending that time together, he explained, helped the group connect quickly and made the team feel more familiar than expected.

Mamukelashvili came away encouraged by the chemistry forming inside the Lakers locker room, saying the energy around the team has only made him more excited for the upcoming NBA season.

Aside from the trip, Mamukelashvili and his Lakers teammates have been spotted golfing throughout the offseason. He was asked who is the team’s second-best golfer after Austin Reaves.

“I’ve been hearing a lot about Bronny [James],” Mamukelashvili said. “They say he’s really, really good, and that he actually plays a lot. … So I’m kind of looking forward to seeing the Luka, Austin, Bronny tournament.”

The new Lakers forward was one of the key depth pieces Rob Pelinka, the team’s president of basketball operations, made over the offseason. Mamukelashvili will join the team as a sixth-year veteran after bouncing around the league with the Bucks, Spurs and Raptors.

Mamukelashvili is a year removed from a career high, averaging 11.2 points per game, as well as 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

While the Lakers are enjoying their time off the basketball court, the NBA season is rapidly approaching. The team is expected to report for training camp on Sept. 29.

The 2026-2027 season is a pivotal year for the Lakers, who are transitioning to new ownership for the second season in a row.

They are also about to enter a new era of Lakers basketball that features the team fully embracing Dončić as the main guy after LeBron James’ departure during the offseason.

Phillip Schofield Hires Wealth Management Accountants to Oversee Finances

Philip Schofield has reportedly brought in specialist wealth management accountants to oversee his finances, following his admission that his once “beloved” television career is effectively over.

Filings at Companies House indicate the former This Morning presenter’s financial affairs are now set to be handled by Sedulo, a London-based firm known for advising high-net-worth clients on growing and managing their wealth.

Schofield previously acknowledged he is unlikely to return to television, saying in an interview that he had “lost everything” after his “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger colleague was made public, triggering a major crisis at ITV.

The fallout saw him step down dramatically from This Morning after admitting he had lied to his long-time co-presenter Holly Willoughby, ITV, and his talent agency YMU about the relationship.

YMU later severed ties with the presenter, saying in a statement that “honesty and integrity are core values” of the company and that “talent management is a relationship built entirely on trust”.

Sedulo couldhelp preserve Schofield’s huge fortune that he made from decades working in television.

His real estate firm – Fistral Properties Ltd – is registered with the company’s London office, and will likely become his primary source of income now, the Mirror reports.

On Sedulo’s website it claims to be defined by its ‘financial and wealth management’.

It tells prospective clients: ‘Our vision is a service that is more professional, more personal, and more efficient — a service that is delivered by talented, dedicated, and highly qualified people who share this vision—always aiming to reduce your stress and give you peace of mind.

‘Whether you’re a successful entrepreneur or business owner or you’re starting out on your own, it’s never too early to seek sound advice. Whatever stage of your business journey you’re at, we’re here to support you.

‘By helping you to accumulate or preserve wealth, we ensure you have the confidence to face life’s big moments – now and in the future.’

Schofield’s business affairs were previously managed by YMU who helped craft his career and make him millions.

In recent weeks, rumours have been swirling that the fallen presenter was ‘in talks with senior TalkTV bosses about a role on the channel’ alongside his friend Vanessa Feltz – who is was pictured having dinner with earlier this month.

And, according to a new report, Schofield is set to create his own tell-all memoir about his version of events after being approached by ‘several book publishers’.

It has been said he hopes to ‘draw a line’ under what happened in what could be an ‘incredibly compelling account’ that is fully supported by his family.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Phil has had several approaches by book publishers – including Hodder & Stoughton – about a new memoir, in which he talks more fully about This Morning, Holly, and how his career at ITV imploded.

‘He made it clear in the conversation that he would like the chance to tell his story in full, and in some ways to draw a line under what has happened, but that he would not do so without the approval of his family.

‘Stephanie and the girls have been his lifeline all this time, while he’s been going through hell in private. So any further discussions are on hold until he has spoken to them, and they are happy with him going ahead.’

Meanwhile sources close to Schofield said his friends are trying to encourage him to lead a ‘fulfilling life’ away from showbusiness.

One told MailOnline: ‘Phillip has been very, very down recently. He doesn’t know how he is going to work again.

‘He is pretty sure that he is done. He keeps saying he will never work again. It’s devastating for him to realise but he also knows that there is not a lot he can do about it.

‘He doesn’t know who will take him, he knows there is no way back to ITV or the BBC.’

The comments echoed what Schofield said himself when he broke his silence in an interview with the BBC in the weeks following the scandal.

He said at the time: ‘I’m not in television any more, I don’t know what I am even remotely – if I get through this. I don’t know even remotely how I move forward – what am I going to do with my days?’

‘I did something very wrong and then I lied about it consistently and you can’t live with that. How do you live with that?’ he added.

Schofield admitted that the affair had rocked ITV, while Mary Bekhait, the CEO of his former agency said at the time: ‘Honesty and integrity are core values for YMU’s whole business, defining everything we do. Talent management is a relationship based entirely on trust.

‘This week, we have learned important new information about our client Phillip Schofield.

‘These facts contradicted what Phillip had previously told YMU, as well as the external advisors we had brought in to support him. As a result, on Thursday we agreed to part company with Phillip, with immediate effect.’

Schofield’s representatives told MailOnline ‘so far as I know these reports are nonsense’ adding the presenter had ‘no comment’.

On-and-Off Storms Could Dampen Labor Day Forecast

0

Rain chances remain higher than normal through Labor Day.

ORLANDO, Fla.Monday

Labor Day is expected to be the soggiest stretch of the holiday weekend across Central Florida. An upper-level trough is helping push a cold front into North Florida, drawing in deeper moisture and adding enough instability to fuel widespread showers and storms through the day. Early Monday, scattered rain will be most likely across northern communities, particularly Flagler, Marion and northern Volusia counties. By midday, rain chances will expand farther south, with showers and thunderstorms lingering across the Orlando area and much of Central Florida into the afternoon.

Week Ahead

The unsettled weather pattern will hold on through the middle of the week as the front stalls near Central Florida. That boundary will also help generate a mid-level area of low pressure, keeping rain chances above average through Wednesday. Conditions should gradually improve late in the week as the front fades and high pressure begins building near the state. That shift will help bring rain chances back closer to typical Florida levels by the end of the week and into the weekend.

A fatal dispute outside a Nashville lounge ended with a bullet piercing the metal exterior of a nearby Sam’s Club, striking and killing an uninvolved Frito-Lay employee who was working in the chip aisle, police said.

Authorities identified the victim as Paris Carlock, 55, of Murfreesboro. He was completing an early-morning product inventory near the center of the store shortly after 4 a.m. when he was hit in the head by the gunfire.

Sam’s Club employees quickly tried to help Carlock before he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument that started inside Lavo Lounge on Antioch Pike, located a short distance from the Sam’s Club.

Police said security removed the people involved from the lounge, but the dispute reportedly spilled outside and continued. Gunshots were heard as multiple vehicles left the area.
