Man Walks Into New York Court With Loaded Gun in His Underwear

0

A man with 18 prior arrests allegedly entered a Bronx courthouse with a loaded handgun concealed beneath his clothing Monday before threatening officers who tried to remove him, according to a criminal complaint.

The security breach occurred around 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 21, when Jamal Frett, 26, allegedly brought a black Ruger pistol loaded with five rounds into the Bronx County Hall of Justice, court documents state.

Frett later went to Justice Guy Mitchell’s courtroom, where officers said he began behaving disruptively, according to the complaint and sources familiar with the incident.

A court officer reportedly saw Frett using his cellphone and speaking loudly, violating courtroom rules and disturbing the proceedings, the complaint states.

As officers escorted him from the courtroom, Frett allegedly became confrontational and issued threats, according to the court papers.

“Don’t f–king touch me, come see me outside, you want some,” Frett allegedly shouted while resisting officers’ efforts to place him in handcuffs.

During the struggle, officers discovered the handgun concealed in Frett’s waistband, according to prosecutors.

Frett was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including several counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was ordered held in custody.

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office referred questions about courthouse security to the state Office of Court Administration.

The Unified Court System has launched an internal review to determine how the firearm entered the secured facility, OCA spokesperson Al Baker said.

Security footage reportedly showed that Frett told officers he was wearing an ankle monitor and underwent a pat-down after setting off a magnetometer, Baker said.

“Officers, using a handheld scanner, patted Mr. Frett down and discovered no immediate presence of a weapon,” the spokesperson said.

After the gun was found, the NYPD and the New York State Parole Bureau were notified immediately, Baker added.

It remained unclear why Frett was at the Bronx courthouse Monday. However, the incident marked another encounter with the criminal justice system for the repeat offender.

Frett has been arrested 18 times, including 12 arrests involving felony allegations, sources said.

He last appeared in court on Sept. 8 in connection with a pending case. Frett and other defendants are accused of slashing a woman in the head as she walked to a supermarket on April 30, according to sources.

It was not immediately known whether Frett had legal representation.

Federal Judge Blocks Deportation of Immigrant Shot by ICE Officer

A federal judge has temporarily blocked the deportation of a Venezuelan man who was shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Austin over the weekend, his attorney said.

Attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch said her office filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of her 28-year-old client, Wilber Rafael Garces Perez. The judge ordered Perez to appear at a hearing on Sept. 30.

“That means Wilber cannot be deported in the meantime,” Lincoln-Goldfinch wrote on Facebook. “For now, we have secured a temporary block on his deportation while his case moves forward.”

Lincoln-Goldfinch said Perez remains in need of medical treatment and that her office would continue working to protect his rights. He is still in “a lot of pain,” she said, and the bullet remains lodged in his body.

Perez was delivering a DoorDash order when he made a U-turn beneath a highway, authorities said. ICE agents then continued pursuing him.

“The truck chased him and sideswiped him again. And the agents came out and shot him in the back of the neck and pulled him out of the car,” Lincoln-Goldfinch said.

Authorities said Perez had a final order of removal. His attorney, however, said the order was issued after an immigration hearing notice was sent to an outdated address, even though Perez had updated his address with the court.

Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza sent a letter Tuesday to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and ICE Director David Venturella, asking that Garces Perez be permitted to remain in the United States while the shooting is investigated.

Rep. Greg Casar, D-Texas, joined more than 100 other members of Congress in signing a separate letter to Mullin and Venturella. The lawmakers urged officials to release Perez from ICE detention so he can obtain medical care.

They also called on state officials and law enforcement agencies to preserve all evidence connected to the shooting.

“Mr. Garces Perez is a key witness to this shooting, and given ICE’s history of obscuring the facts in similar investigations, he must not be removed,” the letter stated.

The ICE officer who shot Perez recently joined the agency but has years of law enforcement experience, including work with the U.S. Border Patrol, sources told Fox News.

Multiple federal law enforcement sources told Fox News that the unidentified officer was not wearing a body camera during the shooting. ICE is expected to have cameras on all officers by the end of the month.

Records show the officer completed ICE’s 256-hour Deportation Officer Training Program in August 2025, followed by additional operational and legal instruction during 2026.

Training logs show the officer scored 99.2% on a pistol qualification and completed instruction on use-of-force situations and less-lethal weapons, including Tasers, OC spray and batons.

The training also covered field operations and practical exercises involving the full custody process, as well as warrantless arrests, Title 19 authority, escort and removal procedures, expedited removal and custody protocols.

News Media has contacted ICE and the Department of Homeland Security for comment.

In the wake of the shooting, multiple Democrats have criticized ICE, calling it a “rogue” agency that was “terrorizing our cities and threatening the safety of our residents.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, DHS released a list of some illegal immigrants in Texas who have been arrested for various crimes, including supporting an Islamic State-inspired mass shooting on election day in 2024 and two Mexican citizens wanted for multiple murders in their native country.

The list also includes child sex offenders, drug dealers, and one Mexican man arrested after posting a TikTok video in 2025 in Spanish soliciting the murder of ICE agents and offering a $10,000 reward.

Tess Crosley Laughs as Lachie Neale Affair Rumors Become Parody

0

Tess Crosley has found the humour in her headline-making affair with AFL star Lachie Neale after the saga received the full Mad Monday treatment.

The Gold Coast mother was at the centre of one of football’s biggest off-field scandals, but appeared delighted this week after seeing an outrageous parody of the very public saga.

A group of footy fans dressed up as Tess, Lachie and his estranged wife, Jules Neale, for their end-of-season celebrations. The costumes referenced the infamous love triangle with wigs, football attire and exaggerated padding.

Shared by the popular Instagram account Mad Monday 365, the image showed one man dressed as Lachie standing between two women and holding an arm around each of them.

The fan portraying the AFL star wore a Brisbane Lions guernsey, footy shorts, long socks and a backwards cap, while several medals hung proudly around his neck.

However, it was the elaborate outfits worn by his friends that attracted most of the attention.

One fan wore a long dark wig, black crop top, beige shorts, leather jacket and Brisbane Lions scarf, finishing the costume with an oversized fake bust.

His blonde companion wore a platinum wig, white blouse, black blazer and shorts, along with similarly exaggerated padding.

‘Tess, Lachie and Jules on Mad Monday,’ the account wrote in the caption accompanying the cheeky photo.

Instead of taking offence at being mocked, Tess appeared to find the elaborate impersonation highly amusing.

‘Jump scare warning next time pls,’ she commented, adding several laughing emojis.

Her response soon received more than 180 likes, while other followers joined in to praise the eye-catching costumes.

‘Unbelievable knockers,’ one follower joked. ‘Actually the best,’ another added.

The parody appeared after Tess broke her silence on the scandal and addressed some of the more extraordinary rumours that emerged after her affair with Lachie became public.

Speaking on Daily Mail’s showbiz podcast The Debrief with Savanna Young, Tess said there was more to the friendship group than outsiders had realised.

Among the most sensational claims to emerge from the saga were rumours the friends had been involved in a secret swinging arrangement.

While Tess stopped short of discussing the private lives of those involved, she suggested the situation was more complicated than had previously been reported.

‘There was a lot of context that people don’t know… it was a friendship that just got way too close,’ she said.

‘Out of respect for the other people involved, I obviously can’t talk about their private lives.’

Tess also clarified that she and Jules had not been lifelong best friends, revealing their friendship had lasted for about a year before the affair came to light.

But she said one rumour in particular had crossed the line – speculation Lachie was secretly the father of her son, Beau.

‘I just had a point where I was like, ‘Don’t bring my child into this. That is 100 per cent a rumour,” Tess said.

‘There’s no truth to it at all.’

Tess has accepted responsibility for her role in the affair, but said she decided to speak publicly after months of speculation surrounding the scandal.

Democratic Governor’s Astonishing Billion-Dollar Wealth Surge

0

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has seen his net worth climb by more than $1 billion since he took office in 2019.

The billionaire Democrat, an heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune, has fueled speculation about a possible presidential campaign after revealing that he is working to make significant improvements to his health.

According to a new Forbes report, Pritzker’s fortune has reached approximately $4.2 billion, placing him on the magazine’s 2026 World’s Billionaires list.

His wealth rose by more than $500 million over the past year alone. Despite that increase, Pritzker slipped from 979th to 1,108th on the global billionaire ranking.

If elected president, Pritzker would become the second billionaire in a row to hold the office, following Donald Trump.

The Daily Mail has contacted Governor Pritzker’s office for comment.

Pritzker has also disclosed that he has taken a GLP-1 medication for the past two years after being diagnosed with diabetes.

The 61-year-old Democrat told CBS on Monday that he has lost 80 pounds since beginning the injections, adding that he feels “a whole lot different and a whole lot better.”

The governor said he has long understood the risks associated with being overweight, particularly after his father died of a heart attack at the age of 39.

“He was actually quite an active person, even though he was overweight, and so he was on a tennis court and had a heart attack, and my mother was there, and he died in her arms,” Pritzker said, recalling his father.

However, Pritzker said the demands of public office contributed to further weight gain. His size has also made him the target of repeated mockery from Trump.

“Pritzker, I don’t know, he’s too busy eating,” Trump said at a 2024 presidential campaign rally. “He wants to eat all the time.”

Pritzker’s doctor prescribed the medication after blood tests conducted two years ago showed that he had diabetes.

“My doctor said, ‘Oh, no, you’ll never come off of it. You’re going to have to do this the rest of your life, and I recommend that you take a GLP-1,’” Pritzker recalled.

He said he lost two pounds during his first week on the drug and quickly noticed a major change in his appetite.

“All of a sudden, on the third day, I was like, you know, actually, I don’t need to eat that thing,” Pritzker said.

Should politicians be allowed to amass huge fortunes while in public office?

‘But it was the strangest feeling. Now, I’m not suggesting everything changed in a week. It didn’t happen that way.’

GLP-1s mimic a naturally occurring gut hormone, helping regulate blood sugar and curb appetite by slowing digestion and increasing feelings of fullness. They are used to treat type 2 diabetes and, in some formulations, obesity.

Common brand names include Ozempic and Wegovy, which contain semaglutide, as well as Mounjaro and Zepbound, which contain tirzepatide, a related dual GIP/GLP-1 drug.

The governor announced that Illinois is covering GLP-1s on the state insurance plan for 55,000 civil servants and says that the drug will save money by preventing other diseases.

As well as the drug, Pritzker says that he takes a four-mile walk each morning along Lake Michigan to help keep the weight off.

Asked if he was working on his image ahead of a 2028 presidential run, Pritzker replied: ‘I’ve been driven my whole life to lose weight. The fact that I am now able to do it because this GLP-1 became available is truly, like, I mean, it’s something that has meant a lot to me.

‘I have not made any decisions about what I might do in the future. I can tell you I want to be the governor of the state of Illinois for a while longer, and I’m running for reelection.’

The latest Democratic 2028 polling puts Pritzker well behind the early front-runners, despite persistent speculation that the billionaire Illinois governor could mount a White House bid.

A September Bowling Green State University/YouGov poll had Kamala Harris on 17 percent, narrowly ahead of Pete Buttigieg on 16 percent, with Gavin Newsom and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez both on 14 percent. Pritzker was not among the candidates registering support in the poll’s leading tier.

A separate Harvard CAPS/Harris survey earlier this month placed Pritzker at 4 percent, behind Harris on 42 percent, Newsom on 18 percent, Buttigieg and Ocasio-Cortez on 9 percent apiece, and Josh Shapiro and Jon Ossoff on 7 percent.

Report Finds Transgender People Have Lower Homicide Rate Than General Population, With Partners Often Identified as Perpetrators

0

A new analysis by two researchers argues that transgender people are killed at a lower rate than the broader US population and that, in most identified cases, the violence is not primarily motivated by anti-transgender bias.

The study, published earlier this year by Manhattan Institute researchers Vincent Lundgren and Colin Wright, challenges claims from the Human Rights Campaign and other nonprofit groups that transgender people face an “epidemic” of lethal violence linked to transphobia or white supremacy.

“Transgender people are less likely to be murdered than the rest of the population, most transgender people are murdered by members of their own race, and intimate partner violence — not hate — is the leading identified motive for most such murders,” Lundgren and Wright concluded.

The researchers reviewed more than 300 homicide cases dating to 2015 in which the victim was transgender.

Among cases with an identified suspect, 65% of alleged perpetrators were Black and 18% were white, according to the report.

The authors said the pattern could not be explained by a single unusual year or by a small number of exceptional cases.

They specifically pointed to 2020, when the HRC described the deaths of “our Black trans siblings” as part of an “epidemic of violence” driven by “systems of white supremacy.” In the cases verified by the Manhattan Institute researchers that year, no white suspect was identified.

The analysis found that confirmed hate crimes accounted for just 3.3% of the cases examined.

Instead, the most frequently identified circumstance was intimate partner violence, the researchers wrote. Other cases involved encounters connected to sex work, arguments, robbery and various forms of personal conflict.

The authors argued that the evidence points more often to violence involving people who knew one another or encountered each other in vulnerable settings than to attacks by strangers motivated by racism or anti-transgender hatred.

The report also compared homicide rates from 2010 through 2014, concluding that the rate for transgender people was about one-seventh of the rate for the US population overall.

During that five-year period, the researchers calculated a homicide rate of 3.66 per 100,000 transgender people, compared with 25.8 per 100,000 people in the general population.

Young Black transgender women, who represented 69% of the victims in the study, had a homicide rate the researchers described as roughly one-quarter that of young Black men who were not transgender.

The researchers also questioned comparisons that measure these victims against Black non-transgender women, saying that doing so can make the rate appear unusually high when framed as a figure for “women.”

The Human Rights Campaign did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

17-Year-Old Faces Adult Charges in Lewis Place Shooting

0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – R’jay Jaron Copeland, 17, is facing adult charges as an alleged accessory after the fact in connection with an Aug. 7 shooting at Lewis Place Apartments.

Gainesville Police Department officers were called to Lewis Place Apartments, 4121 NE 15th Street, at approximately 7:25 p.m. after reports of gunfire. They found two victims at the scene, including one who had suffered a graze wound to the cheek.

The victims told investigators they had been outside Building 1 when a white Nissan sedan entered the parking lot. According to their accounts, one individual—identified below as the first witness—got out and approached them. They identified 16-year-old Peter Roman, who is also charged as an adult, as the front-seat passenger and Copeland as the driver. A third occupant, seated in the back, is referred to as the second witness.

The first victim said he and the second victim began walking toward the sedan because they intended to “go smoke.” He told police that Copeland then started driving away while Roman, also known as “P3,” leaned out of the front passenger window and fired several rounds from a handgun. One of the bullets reportedly grazed the victim’s cheek.

The second victim said he did not see the shooter, but confirmed that he knew all three males inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The first witness, who had initially been riding in the back seat, reportedly told investigators that the victims were standing in an apartment breezeway when the sedan entered the lot. He said Roman told him he “need[ed] to pick a side.” After seeing Roman rack a handgun, the witness said he exited the vehicle. He then reportedly saw Roman fire multiple rounds toward the victims as the sedan left the complex. The witness also said all three occupants put on ski masks shortly before the shooting.

Another witness at the scene reportedly corroborated the identities of the three people who had been inside the sedan.

Investigators reportedly recovered six .45-caliber bullets near the complex’s front entrance. No damage was found on nearby buildings or vehicles, but officers observed a scratch on the first victim’s cheek, which was consistent with his account that gunfire had been directed at him.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured a Black male leaning through the front passenger-side window of the white sedan and aiming a firearm at the victims as the vehicle exited the parking lot.

Following the shooting, Roman and Copeland reportedly placed multiple calls to their parents. Both declined to return to the scene to speak with officers.

The second witness reportedly provided a different detail, saying he saw the first victim pull out a handgun equipped with a purple laser and point it toward the sedan. He said Copeland then removed a pistol from his waistband, racked the slide and handed the weapon to Roman. According to the witness, the first victim put his gun back in his waistband but continued approaching the vehicle. Roman allegedly told Copeland to “pull out,” prompting Copeland to drive away. The witness said Roman began firing from the passenger side, and the group then went to Santa Fe Oaks Apartments at 8203 NW 31st Avenue, where Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies later located the sedan.

A Gainesville police officer reported that Copeland drove throughout the incident, including while Roman leaned out of the sedan and fired multiple rounds. The officer wrote that Copeland “provided transportation and facilitated [Roman’s] departure from the scene immediately following the shooting.”

Roman has been charged as an adult with attempted homicide. Copeland faces an adult charge of accessory after the fact to second-degree homicide.

After receiving Miranda warnings, Roman reportedly told investigators that Copeland handed him a black Glock while speeding away from the apartment complex and instructed him to shoot. Roman said he aimed at the victims and fired several rounds before the group drove to Santa Fe Oaks Apartments. He reportedly said Copeland asked for the pistol back there and claimed he fired only because Copeland told him to do so.

Copeland’s arrest report does not reference any post-Miranda statement from him.

Copeland was initially arrested as a juvenile on Aug. 9 and transferred to the adult jail on Sept. 16. A court document describes his juvenile record between 2023 and 2026 as “extensive.” Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $250,000, while Copeland’s attorney has filed a motion seeking a reduction.
