A Russian beauty queen whose brief marriage to Malaysia’s former king ended in controversy appears to have moved on from her turbulent royal chapter.

Oxana Gorbatenko is now based in London, where she has established herself as a businesswoman in the luxury property market.

Her social media presence paints a picture of an opulent, international lifestyle far removed from the royal drama that captivated global audiences nearly seven years ago.

The 34-year-old former Miss Moscow frequently shares images from sought-after destinations such as St Moritz, Mykonos, Ibiza, St Tropez and the Maldives.

An enthusiastic skier, the model has also posted photographs from snowy resorts, dressed in designer outfits with her hair impeccably styled.

Her taste for luxury extends to Dubai, where videos show her enjoying high-end restaurants, beach sunsets and trips aboard luxury yachts.

In one photograph, she attends Royal Ascot in a white two-piece ensemble, completed by a striking turquoise fascinator.

“Attending the royal horse races was not only a sporting pleasure but also an aesthetic one,” she wrote on Instagram while posing before two Union flags.

Last year, Gorbatenko also appeared to enjoy a safari in Kenya, posing beside giraffes and monkeys while wearing designer sunglasses.

This year, photographs of her in a cap and gown suggest she graduated from Imperial College London. The subject she studied at the prestigious Russell Group university has not been disclosed.

Yet one notable figure is missing from her carefully curated online profile: her young son, Leon.

Leon was born in May 2019, only months after his father, Malaysia’s Sultan Muhammad V, stunned the country by becoming its first reigning monarch to abdicate.

Gorbatenko’s relationship with the sultan reportedly began the previous year after they met at a beauty pageant.

They married in a whirlwind ceremony in 2018, when she was 26 and Muhammad V was 49.

Their 23-year age gap drew considerable attention, although the couple initially kept their relationship largely out of the public eye.

Before the wedding, Gorbatenko converted to Islam and adopted the name Rihana Oxana Gorbatenko. She later changed it to Rihana Petra.

The apparent fairytale soon began to unravel, however, when Muhammad V abdicated in January 2019.

The former king never publicly gave a reason for his decision, although there was speculation surrounding his marriage to the former beauty queen.

Rumours also swirled that the monarch had been unfaithful to his model wife, while others suggested the relationship had brought embarrassment to the royal family.

Ms Gorbatenko was then already pregnant and she gave birth to Leon on May 21, 2019.

A fresh scandal erupted just weeks later when the couple announced their divorce.

This was because the former sultan had doubts about Leon’s paternity and demanded a DNA test, according to reports at the time.

Muhammad V’s lawyer said there was ‘no objective evidence’ that the former monarch was the boy’s biological father.

But Ms Gorbatenko has always denied the claims, insisting Leon is his son. 

She has claimed the boy is ‘a copy’ of the monarch and suggested he was conceived on their honeymoon trip to Australia.

After Leon’s birth, Ms Gorbatenko initially shared numerous pictures of her baby online.

His face was not always visible, but she later began publishing images in which the boy could be seen.

She continued to document his growth for some time, describing her social media as a diary of her son’s life. Her blog also featured snaps from walks, moments at home and their life in London.

But, over time, the posts began to disappear and it emerged Ms Gorbatenko had been put under pressure by the royal family to stop showing pictures of Leon online. 

The changes to the model’s social media became particularly noticeable around a year ago, according to Russian media reports.

She first changed her name from Rihana Petra back to Oxana Gorbatenko.

Followers then noticed photos of Leon were disappearing from her page.

There is no official confirmation, however, that Muhammad V ordered Gorbatenko to stop posting photos of their son.

Today, her online presence is very different. While her old posts centred on Muhammad V and Leon’s childhood, these have largely given way to travel, business events and parties.

There is now little visible reference to motherhood or any current relationships on her account 

Meanwhile, Leon, now seven, is thought to be spending some of his time with his father – even after the bitter paternity row.

The former king has reportedly been spotted in London several times, including leaving toy shops carrying gifts.

And, according to Russian reports, Muhammad V has now acknowledged his son and is participating in his upbringing.

O.J. Simpson was not only responsible for the 1994 killings for which he was famously acquitted, but may also have had an accomplice, according to a former FBI agent with more than two decades of experience.

Jim Clemente, a former New York state prosecutor and FBI profiler who later worked as a writer and producer on CBS’ Criminal Minds, discussed the theory during a recent podcast appearance with media personality Tom Zenner and Kato Kaelin, Simpson’s former houseguest and a key witness in the trial.

Simpson was acquitted in October 1995 of killing his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. However, 16 months later, a civil jury held him financially liable for their deaths. Both proceedings featured disturbing crime-scene images documenting the fatal stabbing of Brown and Goldman on June 12, 1994.

The evidence connecting Simpson to the Bundy Drive crime scene in Los Angeles became central to the case. Investigators found his blood and DNA, along with bloody footprints believed to match his size-12 Bruno Magli shoes. A trail of blood also appeared to run from the scene toward his white Ford Bronco and onto his property.

Clemente, however, argued that details from the investigation could indicate the involvement of a second assailant. He said the presence of two stabbing victims can raise the possibility of multiple attackers, since one person would have had to overpower and attack both victims in a very limited area and within a short period.

In his view, the most significant clue came from the defensive injuries found on Goldman’s legs.

Clemente said the cuts in Goldman’s jeans and trousers suggested that his legs were raised, bent and repeatedly extended—as if he were kicking during the attack.

“The only behavioral explanation we could come up with is that someone had him in a bear hug from behind while another person attacked him from the front,” Clemente said.

“He was kicking and fighting for his life,” he continued, describing the scene as “horrible.”

Clemente also pointed to what he described as an unusual absence of defensive injuries on Goldman’s arms.

If Goldman had been able to punch and fight freely, Clemente said, he might have suffered similar wounds on his arms as the attacker swung the knife. In his view, the injuries were difficult to reconcile with an assault focused only on the legs.

Clemente theorized that Goldman’s arms may have been restrained or pinned, leaving him to defend himself primarily with his legs.

As for why Simpson might allegedly have needed help, Clemente suggested that the couple’s two children could have been a factor because they were at Brown’s condominium.

“What if the children weren’t in bed yet?” Clemente asked. “What if they woke up and came downstairs?”

Simpson continued to deny any involvement in the Brown-Goldman murders until his death from cancer at age 76 in 2024, but the theory he committed the crimes with an accomplice is nothing new. 

Recently, The Daily Mail revealed an upcoming Peacock documentary investigating the theory that Simpson had a mob-linked accomplice in the late Joey Ippolito Jr. What’s more, The Daily Mail reviewed unauthorized clips of the documentary showing Ippolito’s brothers discussing their deceased sibling’s potential involvement in the crime.

Peacock spokespeople declined to comment on The Daily Mail’s reporting at the time. The project’s upcoming release has since been confirmed by other outlets. 

Speaking with Zenner, Clemente also challenged the notion that the murders were simply a crime of passion.

Rather, he insisted Brown was the intended victim of a carefully planned murder. 

Goldman, sadly, was just returning the pair of glasses Brown left at his restaurant when he stumbled upon the crime that was taking place.

‘Whoever committed this crime had an extreme amount of rage and anger in them,’ Clemente told Zenner and Kaelin. ‘And they have been fantasizing about this for a long time. They planned this. This is this is not a disorganized crime. This is an organized crime. Which means that the offender thought about this, thought it out carefully, thought about every angle, knew when she would be vulnerable.

‘Of course, he thought she would be alone at that moment, but because she left the glasses there at the restaurant, somebody else showed up. That is an unexpected result.’

Asked if he had any clue about the accomplice’s identity, Clemente said he had a ‘pretty good idea’ who was with Simpson but stopped short of revealing a name.

Of course, there is no statute of limitations on murder, so if such an accomplice us still alive, they could theoretically face justice.

The United Arab Emirates has reportedly warned that it could withdraw billions of pounds in UK investment unless Manchester City is cleared of allegations involving financial misconduct.

Andy Burnham is facing pressure to repair relations with the Gulf state after saying he would be “really concerned” if the club’s Abu Dhabi-backed owners chose to sell their stake.

The remarks prompted an awkward retreat from the Prime Minister, with Downing Street later stressing that no football club was “above the rules”.

The controversy follows findings that Manchester City had allegedly misrepresented finances worth around £900million over a nine-year period.

Investigators said the period included a series of “sham” commercial arrangements, during which City emerged as the dominant force in English football and collected eight major trophies between 2009 and 2018.

In a highly critical 40-page ruling, the club was accused of artificially inflating sponsorship income and routing additional funds from its Abu Dhabi owners through concealed payments. The alleged strategy was intended to bypass Premier League spending regulations.

Manchester City was found guilty of all but one of the 115 financial misconduct charges brought against it.

The Premier League could impose a range of penalties, including expulsion, a transfer ban or points deductions. A separate hearing to determine any sanctions is expected to take place in due course.

The Premier League club has confirmed that it intends to appeal the guilty verdicts.

Now, according to a report, the UAE has threatened to remove billions of pounds in UK investment unless Manchester City is cleared of the financial misconduct allegations.

Emirati officials are said to have warned that “the Premier League’s actions” could “have an influence on the bilateral state relationship”.

The Telegraph reports that the UAE is considering cancelling billions of pounds of private investment earmarked for a technology hub between Oxford and Cambridge, designed to mirror California’s Silicon Valley.

The report also says Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak met Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds at Downing Street two weeks before the Premier League announced its verdict.

Mr Burnham is understood not to have attended the meeting. However, it comes as the Prime Minister faces questions over his alleged “cosy relationship” with Manchester City and its wealthy UAE-based owners, according to The Times.

The newspaper said Mr Al Mubarak took part in the discussions as chief executive of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, rather than in his capacity as chairman of the football club.

Downing Street has said Mr Burnham has not met Manchester City’s owners since becoming Prime Minister in July.

Despite the scrutiny, the Prime Minister described Abu Dhabi United Group Investment and Development Ltd (ADUG) as “a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester”, highlighting the millions of pounds the company has invested in the city.

Opposition parties are now calling on Mr Burnham to declare his links to City. 

Conservative shadow sport minister Louie French had accused Mr Burnham of ‘publicly backing the owners’ amid a probe into the club’s funding over recent years, describing his comments as ‘frankly extraordinary’. 

On Thursday, Downing Street insisted the guilty verdict against City is ‘serious’, after Mr Burnham was accused of making a ‘frankly extraordinary’ intervention in support of the football club’s owners.

A No10 spokesman issued the statement after the Prime Minister said he would be ‘really concerned’ to see the current owners sell up.

Asked by the BBC earlier this week if he was worried about the current owners selling the club, Mr Burnham said: ‘I would be really concerned to lose them.

‘They’ve been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester. Obviously, the building of Manchester City into the global force that it is’.

Asked also if his dealings with the club would stand up to scrutiny, he said: ‘I do actually thank the City Football Group and the wider ownership for the money that they didn’t just put into the Etihad and the campus around it but also into the city – but yes, of course.’

City were found guilty of charges related to breaches of financial rules between 2009-10 and 2017-18.

The Premier League said an independent commission found City arranged ‘sham’ commercial deals with a number of its sponsors during the period, which were part of a disguised funding scheme, whereby those companies were required to pay only a portion of the relevant sponsorship fees.

The commission found that the remainder was funded by ADUG, which owned the club.

A search dog helped save a distressed man from taking his own life on a remote hillside—just five years after his handler lost her own father to suicide on a mountain.

The death of her father in 2019 inspired Rhiannon Chalmers-Brown, 25, to join the local Mountain Rescue team. She now works alongside her Labrador, Dug, helping search for missing people across the mountains.

Ms Chalmers-Brown’s 62-year-old father, John, was found dead five hours after he was reported missing from his home.

“Those five hours were among the toughest that I’ve experienced in my life,” said Ms Chalmers-Brown.

After three years of gruelling training, Ms Chalmers-Brown and yellow Labrador Dug helped rescue a vulnerable man at high risk of suicide on Rhondda Mountain on Boxing Day in 2024.

Dug guided rescuers through dense woodland to the man, who was found disoriented and distressed but alive.

Ms Chalmers-Brown said the man had no “specific plan”, but had consumed “a lot of drink and drugs”.

She said: “When we found him, he was very confused. That’s one of the really useful things about having a dog.

“You can say, ‘Here, have a cuddle with this dog,’ and suddenly they have something positive to focus on.

“The man was in a terrible state, really upset. His face was wet with tears and his nose was running.

“Dug was just licking his face. He was sobbing into the dog, and Dug was trying to stop him crying.

“He is very much a therapy dog as well as a search dog. As soon as he reaches someone who needs a bit of help, he switches roles.

“Dug succeeded in breaking down the barriers with him. We managed to talk to him, help him reach a better mental state and get him somewhere safe.”

Ms Chalmers-Brown’s experience of losing her father also helps her support others when a search ends with the discovery of a deceased person.

John Chalmers-Brown was a happily married father of two grown-up children and a primary schoolteacher in Derbyshire. However, he had struggled with depression for years.

Despite medication, treatment, care and the support of his family, his mental health eventually became too much for him to bear.

Ms Chalmers-Brown said: “He was only missing for about five hours, but those five hours felt like five years.”

‘It might seem strange to say, but we were the lucky ones.

‘People can go missing for 24 hours, 48 hours, 12 days or six months, and their families have to wait and potentially never find out what happened to them.’

John was reported missing by his wife Debra, 65, after she became alarmed when he left their family home in Cressbrook, Derbyshire at around 4am.

A local search-and-rescue team was alerted and began searching the area around the house, including the surrounding woodland and mountainside. The search involved specialist search teams and dogs.

Ms Chalmers-Brown explained: ‘I can really sympathise with the families because I know exactly how they feel.

‘It gives me a different perspective. I know what it’s like to be waiting for somebody to be found and not know what’s happening.

‘There are also people who go missing and are never found. That’s the reality.

‘There are times when I think I should just give this up and remove myself from all of it, it is traumatic, and I choose to put myself in that position.

‘But if I didn’t have that understanding, I probably wouldn’t be doing it.’ 

John had left the house on foot but his family had no idea where he had gone.

Ms Chalmers-Brown said: ‘When I heard he had left the house and that he was missing, having gone on foot, I think I knew he was dead. I juut had that feeling.

‘But until you get confirmation, you’re always hoping and praying they’re wrong.’

John was eventually found around 300m from the point where he was last known to have been. He had taken his own life.

Ms Chalmers-Brown said: ‘The compassion and dedication of the volunteers who found my dad was so inspiring.

‘I wanted to be able to help families who were in the same situation and get some kind of positive outcome from something that had been so awful.’

Dug was also called into action on Christmas Day in 2024 when a woman had gone out for a walk on her own and become lost as it became dark and her phone was running out of battery.

Ms Chalmers-Brown said: ‘The lady was actually quite well equipped. She had waterproof clothing, warm layers, food and drink, but she’d expected to get back before dark and her route had gone wrong.

‘She ended up in the Brecon Beacons, called for help and we responded as a team.

‘My job as the handler was to make sure the area had been covered, while the dog’s job is always to hunt and find whoever is hidden.

‘Once the dog finds the person, they have to come back and tell the handler.’

Dug was able to find the woman in just 12 minutes. 

Ms Chalmers-Brown added: Different dogs have different indications they have found the missing person. Some will bark. Dug did a spin when he found her.

‘He always does this delightful spinning around on the spot, so I call it his “spin-dication”.

‘So he came back to me, did his little twirl and then ran back to the lady he had found.

‘She was so very glad to see him. Finding her was probably one of the best Christmas presents I’ve ever had.’  
 
Dug’s work has already earned him a nomination for the Burns Bravery Awards, a new nationwide campaign celebrating the remarkable dogs that make an extraordinary difference to people’s lives.

Fronted by Strictly star Karen Hauer, the awards aim to shine a light on the incredible bond between people and dogs, from mountain rescue dogs to family pets.

Yellow labrador Dug caught Ms Chalmers-Brown’s eye as a puppy and she took him home and began the long process of training him to become a search dog.

‘I had this cute little fluffy yellow puppy and thought, “What do I do with it?” So I went onto YouTube and watched loads of videos about how to train puppies and took it from there,’ Ms Chalmers-Brown said.

In November 2024, after around three years of training, they successfully qualified as an operational Mountain Rescue Search Dog Team in the Brecon Beacons.

For Ms Chalmers-Brown , Dug’s nomination means more than simply recognition for his work.

‘When I heard about the awards, I first thought, “Dug’s not very brave”, she said.

‘He’s probably the least brave animal I’ve got. If he sees something he doesn’t like on the hill, he’s like, “Mum!”

‘But I think he represents something bigger. He represents the bravery of people who are going through mental health problems.

‘You can go through so much and still have hope somewhere. If a Labrador can be this happy, maybe people can be too.

‘I think you have to be pretty brave to go through what a lot of the people we find are going through.

‘Even when we find someone alive and get them somewhere safe, that isn’t the end of their journey. They may still have a lot to deal with afterwards.

‘We have people who go missing multiple times a year. Sometimes you get the call and think, “oh, not this person again. Do I really have to go and look for them again?”

‘But then you think, “what if this time they succeed? Could I justify not going to their family afterwards?”‘

As for her father, Ms Chalmers-Brown believes he would have been supportive of her and her work with Search and Rescue

She said: ‘I think he would have been proud ad he would have absolutely loved Dug.

‘He would have loved playing with him and walking him.

‘I think my dad would have been really impressed, but I don’t think he’d have been surprised what I was doing. 

‘He’d probably have just thought, ‘Of course she’s got a dog and she trains it. He loved animals, so I think he would have loved him.’

‘Labradors are good life lessons. They’re always happy.

‘And I suppose that’s what I try to do, to take something difficult and find something positive in it.

‘Why not be like that? Life’s hard enough without trying to be happy.’
