Trump’s UN Visit: What to Know About His Meetings With World Leaders

0

With the war with Iran approaching its eighth month and continuing to affect global oil prices and stability across the Middle East, President Donald Trump addressed world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly.

The gathering marks the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Its central event, the general debate, begins Tuesday and will feature speeches from Trump, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Trump is also scheduled to meet Tuesday with Gulf leaders, many of whom have felt the war’s economic fallout. The talks come after Yemen’s Houthis targeted Saudi Arabia, a development that could place additional pressure on global gas prices.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz discussed the planned meeting during an appearance Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” He said Trump “truly values hearing from them and hearing their concerns” firsthand.

Waltz said the leaders are expected to discuss attacks on cargo vessels in crucial maritime corridors, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

“… What you will see at the U.N. General Assembly is a lot of discussion of the freedom of the seas, the U.N. law of the sea, freedom of navigation. Whether it’s Straits of Hormuz, the Bab al-Mandab, Suez Canal, Panama Canal, Malacca Straits, we must have free and open commerce,” Waltz said.

The conflict, which Trump initially said would last four to six weeks, is now nearing its eighth month. During the summit, the president is expected to hear from numerous world leaders seeking a path toward ending the war.

Senior Iranian officials are expected to attend the assembly. The delegation’s full makeup has not been publicly released, but U.S. officials said Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will be permitted to participate. For now, Trump has no plans to meet with Iranian officials.

The summit follows the release of a U.N. report that found “reasonable grounds” to believe the United States carried out two strikes in Iran that caused civilian casualties. The attacks, which hit a girls’ school and a sports center, provided “reasonable grounds to believe that the United States committed the war crime of launching an indiscriminate attack resulting in loss of life or injury to civilians,” the report said.

A State Department official rejected the report’s conclusions, saying they “do not give credibility” to its findings.

“The Trump Administration formally withdrew from the UN Human Rights Council following the Council’s consistent failures to uphold its own ‘values’ as it pushes anti-American rhetoric and antisemitism, all while it appeases repressive regimes, thus making a mockery of the very ‘rights’ it claims to protect,” the State Department official said. “As such, we do not give credibility to findings [sic] this report.”

On Monday, Trump is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The president will also meet Monday with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at Gracie Mansion.

Trump is expected to use the summit to hold talks with a broad group of the United States’ key allies.

Among the meetings on Tuesday will be a face-to-face discussion with Venezuela’s interim leader, Delcy Rodriguez, in a pull-aside meeting.

It will be the first in-person meeting between the leaders since a U.S. operation in Venezuela captured then-President Nicolas Maduro. The encounter comes only weeks after Washington and Caracas reached a landmark oil agreement giving the U.S. government majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.

“The peace track is our number one priority. There are ideas for de-escalation steps and for addressing fundamental security issues – energy security, food security, and the protection of human life. We are working together with the American team and are ready to take really serious steps,” Zelenskyy wrote in the post.

Trump clashes with CNN reporter while arriving at UN with Melania Trump

Donald Trump confronted CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins as he arrived at the United Nations General Assembly in New York with first lady Melania Trump on Tuesday.

“You shouldn’t be here,” the president told Collins, days after his administration blocked CNN from White House access.

As Collins questioned him about the Iran war, Trump replied: “It’s an honor to be here. I’m surprised that CNN is here covering me. You said you weren’t gonna cover me, you shouldn’t be covering me.”

Before walking away with Melania, Trump said the United States was “making a lot of progress” and that “our country is doing really, really well.”

Another reporter then asked Trump what message he had for Vladimir Putin. The president turned back and answered emphatically: “Settle the war.”

The heated confrontation followed the Trump administration’s decision to bar CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House over coverage the president dismissed as “fake news.”

The dispute intensified Monday when the three outlets sued, arguing that the ban violated their First Amendment rights. The television pool—ABC, CBS, Fox, CNN and NBC—also said it would boycott White House events in solidarity.

Trump is set to address the General Assembly before beginning a full day of diplomatic engagements, including meetings with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as talks with Gulf leaders.

Trump is also scheduled to sign an agreement with Denmark and Greenland that would permit an expanded US military presence on the Arctic island. Later in the evening, he is due to hold a closed-door pull-aside meeting with Venezuela’s leader Delcy Rodríguez.

His appearance at the annual summit comes as the wars in Iran and Ukraine contribute to a fuel squeeze in the United States, with retail diesel prices climbing above $6.50 a gallon for the first time on record.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday that Trump is willing to meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during his time in New York.

“This is a president that will meet with anybody for the most part, because he believes that engaging with people is important if you’re going to solve problems,” Rubio said on NBC’s Today show.

“It doesn’t mean you’re going to end up agreeing with them, but it’s important.”

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, fell about 1 percent to roughly $99 a barrel as optimism returned to the markets.

According to a White House official, Trump will use his speech to argue that “he is using American power to confront longstanding challenges and reshape the world to America’s benefit.”

“We expect the president will highlight how he has and his administration have confronted complex problems head-on around the world,” Mike Waltz, Trump’s ambassador to the UN, told reporters.

Waltz suggested Trump could also revive his attacks on the body, which he has accused of failing on war and peace, pushing a ‘con job’ on climate change and promoting the ‘invasion’ of migrants into Europe.

Trump has already scaled back US funding for the organization, raising questions about its future.

Trump told last year’s General Assembly that the US had ‘demolished’ Iran’s nuclear capabilities after he ordered strikes on three key sites in June 2025. He also claimed ‘everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize.’

He returns nearly seven months into a war with Iran that has become a major issue for Republicans ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.

US and Israeli strikes have killed much of Tehran’s top leadership and degraded its military capabilities, while an American blockade of Iranian oil has put further pressure on its economy.

But Iran has effectively strangled the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world’s oil previously flowed, while Tehran-backed Houthi rebels have made the alternative Bab al-Mandab Strait increasingly perilous.

Drone strikes by Iran-backed militias in Iraq forced Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline earlier this month to shut down, further increasing pressure on the energy market.

Qatar and other mediators are trying to overcome a ‘deep deficit of trust’ between Washington and Tehran and get the two sides back to talks, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said on Monday.

‘Either we sign a deal now or sign a deal 10 months away,’ al-Ansari told the Concordia Annual Summit. ‘The only difference is the number of dead and destruction that we see.’

The Greenland deal, announced last week, follows Trump’s repeated threats to ‘take over’ the island by military force if necessary. Greenland remains Danish territory under the agreement.

Trump claimed last week that he had got Russia and Ukraine to stop targeting each other’s energy infrastructure, after promising on the 2024 campaign trail to end the war on Day One.

Zelensky said he would sign up if Russia did. Moscow said it would only comply if Western energy sanctions were lifted first.

But both sides have kept striking energy infrastructure, including a massive Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow over the weekend involving some 450 aircraft.

Trump flies back to Washington to greet China’s Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday, with the TV pool’s boycott threatening to leave the state visit without network coverage.

Melania’s office has taken a different line, allowing CNN to cover her announcement at the St. Regis hotel in Manhattan on Tuesday, a source familiar with the matter told the Daily Mail.

Hayden Panettiere’s Death Ruled Accidental, Involved Fentanyl

0

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Actor Hayden Panettiere died from an accidental overdose involving several drugs, including fentanyl, according to a South Carolina coroner’s statement Tuesday.

Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive Aug. 16 in an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina. Her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were at the residence.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said Panettiere’s system contained fentanyl, a chemical byproduct of the drug and alprazolam, an anti-anxiety medication. Toxicology testing also detected a muscle relaxer and a medication used to treat major depression and other serious mental health disorders.

The coroner’s office did not provide additional details from the autopsy of the former child star.

Kasey Kitchen, a publicist for Panettiere’s family, said in a statement to The Associated Press that “the investigation is still ongoing and the case is complex.”

Gen Z’s Sex Recession: Study Reveals a Generation Having Less Sex

0

They are the generation that came of age with dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble, while social media has remained just a tap away.

Yet despite having unprecedented access to digital connection, new research suggests Gen Z is experiencing a “sex recession.”

Researchers surveyed 2,373 adults between the ages of 18 and 29 to examine how young people are approaching sex, dating and romantic relationships today.

The findings showed that this age group, which includes Gen Z, reported relatively low levels of sexual activity, even though many participants said they had a moderate to high sex drive.

Nearly three in 10 respondents, or 29 per cent, said they had not had a sexual partner in the previous three months. Another 19 per cent said they had never had a partner at all.

A 25-year-old man told researchers, who conducted the study in collaboration with Playboy: “People my age are having less sex because they are meeting less people in person.”

Another participant said: “It’s hard to hook up with someone if you’re too scared to even talk to anyone.”

Rather than pursuing traditional relationships, many young adults said some of their needs for intimacy are being met through social media and artificial intelligence (AI) companions.

The study, conducted by the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, found that although many young adults were having less sex, they did not necessarily appear troubled by the trend.

“Only a minority report dissatisfaction with their sex lives, suggesting that sex may be less central to overall wellbeing than many assume,” the researchers said.

Only 18 per cent of those surveyed said they were dissatisfied with their sex life.

According to the researchers, the main barrier appears to be a lack of opportunity rather than a lack of desire.

“Dating exhaustion, fear of rejection, financial strain and changing social norms may be making connection more difficult,” the team said.

Financial pressure was a significant factor. Forty-three per cent said money worries had made it more difficult to date or maintain a romantic relationship, while 37 per cent said financial stress had harmed their sex life.

The researchers said young adults are increasingly finding alternative ways to meet their emotional and intimate needs.

“Digital connection, online sexual experiences, friendships, and other forms of fulfilment may be reducing the pressure to pursue traditional romantic relationships,” they added.

About a quarter of respondents said online interactions—including messaging, social media and AI companions—fulfilled at least some of their intimacy needs.

A similar proportion said time spent on screens reduced their motivation to seek sexual connections in real life.

A previous study found that nearly four in 10 people aged 18-30 reported having no sexual partners during the last 12 months, up from 22 per cent a decade earlier

Is modern technology making young people happier or lonelier when it comes to love and relationships?

‘Many participants told us that pornography, camming, AI companions, and other forms of digital intimacy fulfilled at least some of their emotional or sexual needs,’ the researchers said.

‘At the same time, many described these experiences as easier, less emotionally demanding, and more accessible than pursuing intimacy with another person.’

Despite having less sex, the sex they have is not necessarily safer, the researchers warned.

Contraceptive use among Gen Z is often inconsistent, they said, and many have never been tested for STIs.

Only 35 per cent reported typically using condoms and approximately a third said they had never been tested for an STI.

‘Modern-day dating really is an absolute mess, not because Gen Z has stopped wanting love, sex, or connection, but because the journey from desire to intimacy has become more complicated than ever,’ the researchers concluded.

According to a separate study, Gen Z is also shunning alcohol in favour of a cup of tea.

Conducted by Twinings, the survey found that almost half (47 per cent) of Gen Z say tea has replaced alcohol as the thing they reach for before big moments. In contrast, just 25 per cent of Baby Boomers say the same thing.

Netanyahu Threatens to Expose Zohran Mamdani, New York Politician, at UN in Fiery Video Message

0

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and vowed to “tell the truth” about him during his visit to address the UN General Assembly later this week.

“Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews,” Netanyahu said in a fiery video posted on X.

Mamdani called on New Yorkers to protest Netanyahu’s visit in July, although he has since sought to deny making that appeal. He has also retreated from a campaign pledge to personally arrest the prime minister, acknowledging that he does not have the political authority to do so.

“I’m coming to the UN. I’m going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I’m gonna tell the truth about you,” Netanyahu declared.

The Israeli leader’s message came after Mamdani renewed his call for Netanyahu to be arrested upon arriving in New York. The mayor has accused Netanyahu of perpetrating a “genocide” in Gaza.

After a friendly meeting with President Trump at Gracie Mansion on Monday, Mamdani told CNN that he believes the International Criminal Court should intervene. The interview was not listed on his daily schedule.

“When it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, I have described him as I believe him to be — a war criminal and an architect of a horrific genocide of the Palestinian people,” Mamdani said.

Hayden Panettiere Death Hoax Sparks False Claims About Her Cause of Death

0

Hayden Panettiere’s cause of death has been officially determined, a month after the actress died at the age of 36.

Panettiere was found at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16. At the time, authorities suspected that her death may have been linked to a drug overdose.

Her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach, were reportedly at the property when Panettiere was pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for the Greenville County Coroner’s Office has now confirmed to The Daily Mail that Panettiere died from the “toxic effects” of several drugs, including fentanyl. Her death was ruled accidental.

Fentanyl is an extremely potent opioid, estimated to be 50 times stronger than heroin, and even a few grains can result in a fatal overdose.

The coroner’s office spokesperson said, “An autopsy was completed by a Board Certified Forensic Pathologist. At autopsy no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death.

“The cause of death has been ruled as toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine. The manner of death has been ruled accident.

“This case is administratively closed by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.”

The confirmation comes after TMZ reported last week that investigators believed Panettiere had accidentally taken a single oxycodone pill contaminated with fentanyl.

Sources told the outlet that Panettiere had a “long time drug dealer” in Los Angeles, from whom she illegally obtained narcotics including oxycodone.

Authorities also said Panettiere had taken several drugs purchased in Los Angeles the day before her death, before traveling to South Carolina. She was found dead the following day.

Earlier this month, Panettiere’s representative said, “As reported yesterday by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Hayden’s death remains under investigation pending the completion of toxicology results, despite reports from some outlets stating otherwise.

“Recent reports attributed to unnamed sources are unverified hearsay and have attributed to conflicting information that continues to circulate.”

The representative added, “While we are all eager to find closure and better understand the circumstances surrounding her passing, we must remain patient and allow the investigative process to unfold.”

The representative for the Heroes star concluded by saying that “the answers we are all seeking will come.”

On the day of her death, emergency responders were called to a condominium in Greenville, South Carolina. They attempted to resuscitate the actress, but she was later pronounced dead.

Hickerson’s attorney, Sloan Ellis, said in a statement on August 20, “Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed.”

‘As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.’

Panettiere began acting as a child, appearing in soap operas, then gained wider recognition for her role in the 2000 sports drama Remember the Titans with Denzel Washington, and as the voice of Dot in Pixar’s 1998 film A Bug’s Life.

Panettiere later found fame playing cheerleader Claire Bennet in the superhero drama Heroes before starring as country singer Juliette Barnes for six seasons on Nashville.

She earned two Golden Globe nominations for best supporting actress on the show, while her singing produced 11 entries on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

Panettiere’s film credits include 2006’s Bring It On: All or Nothing, the comedy-drama film Raising Helen, and appearances in Scream 4 and Scream VI as Kirby Reed.

She had an 11-year-old daughter called Kaya following a life-threatening birth, and later gave full custody of the child to her former fiancé, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

Panettiere’s passing was announced by her father Skip Panettiere, who said in a statement: ‘It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden.

‘She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen. We ask for privacy as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.’

Authorities in Greenville, South Carolina, subsequently said that officials responded to an apartment in the area after receiving a report of an ‘unresponsive female’ via a possible ‘drug overdose,’ subsequently determined to be Panettiere.

What is fentanyl and why is it so dangerous?

Fentanyl was originally developed in Belgium in the 1950s to aid cancer patients with their pain management.

Given its extreme potency it has become popular amongst recreational drug users.

Overdose deaths linked to synthetic opioids like fentanyl jumped from nearly 10,000 in 2015 to nearly 20,000 in 2016 – surpassing common opioid painkillers and heroin for the first time.

And drug overdoses killed more than 72,000 people in the US in 2017 – a record driven by fentanyl.

It is often added to heroin because it creates the same high as the drug, with the effects biologically identical. But it can be up to 50 times more potent than heroin, according to officials in the US.

In America, fentanyl is classified as a schedule II drug – indicating it has a strong potential to be abused and can create psychological and physical dependence.

Jessi Draper Reveals Plastic Surgery Regrets and Body Dysmorphia

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jessi Draper is speaking openly about her experience with plastic surgery and the criticism she has faced for discussing it.

“You can’t win,” Draper, 34, said during the Sunday, September 21, episode of the “Cheers!” podcast. “People are like, ‘You obviously got something done. Be honest and be authentic,’ and then you do that, and they rip you apart for doing that. It’s a double-edged sword.”

Draper said she “hates” when celebrities are not forthcoming about the cosmetic work they have had done, arguing that the subject comes with a frustrating double standard. “I feel like it’s better to be authentic but I also don’t ever want anyone to think I’m pushing plastic surgery. If anything, I tell people, ‘Be really cautious.’”

The hairstylist admitted that she believes she went too far with her most recent procedure. “I feel like I did too much and I wish I wouldn’t have done my last one,” she said. Draper added that she wishes people would allow public figures to share their experiences without treating those choices as personal instructions. “I really do wish people would let us just live our lives and be like, ‘Great. I’m glad you shared but I don’t need to take it on personally.’”

Jessi Draper Talks ‘Confidence Issues’ After Plastic Surgery

Jessi Draper previously discussed her struggles with insecurity and the cosmetic procedures she had undergone in an interview with Allure published Thursday, March 26. Draper, 33, reflected, “I have such self-confidence issues and looking back, I can totally see how I was blinded by those,” she said. […]

Draper most recently underwent facial fat grafting, a procedure she ultimately regretted. She said she had originally gone to a doctor for an upper and lower blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, but was advised to add fat grafting around her eyes. Draper told the doctor to do whatever would make her look “balanced,” but said fat was also placed in her jaw, lips and eyes.

“I was very upset,” Draper said, explaining that she felt “swollen” and “puffy” for months afterward. She eventually received Kybella in an effort to dissolve the fat. “It’s been a nightmare for the last nine months trying to fix what happened. Don’t get fat grafting,” she said.

In hindsight, Draper also feels she did not need the upper and lower blepharoplasty. “There’s so much pressure on us when we’re in the public eye, but I regret it, for sure,” she said.

Draper further acknowledged that life in the spotlight intensified her “body dysmorphia,” particularly after she faced negative comments about her appearance. “It’s a weird feeling not to recognize yourself,” she said.

During the podcast episode, Draper also revealed that she underwent a second breast augmentation because she wanted her breasts to better suit her frame. “I just felt like my boobs were a little too much, so I went a little smaller,” she shared. “No more surgeries!”
