A Kentucky woman was taken into custody Thursday after being indicted on allegations of sodomy and incest involving a child, according to court records.

A Nelson County grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday, accusing Lauren Winans of sexually abusing and sodomizing a victim under age 12 between Jan. 1, 2022, and Nov. 20, 2022.

The indictment alleges that Winans, 31, of Bardstown, committed first-degree sodomy by engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with C.G.W., who was younger than 12 at the time.

Court documents identified the alleged victim in three of the counts as C.G.W.

Winans is also charged with having sexual intercourse with a family member who was under the age of 12, the indictment states.

According to the court filing, she allegedly committed incest by engaging in sexual or deviate sexual intercourse with a person she knew to be an ancestor who was younger than 12.

The records do not clarify whether the underage family member identified in the incest charge is the same person named in the other three counts. They also do not specify the nature of Winans’ relationship to the alleged victim.

Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall told The Post that Winans remains held on $250,000 bail, which she has not posted.

If convicted of first-degree sodomy, the most serious charge, Winans could face a sentence of up to life in prison.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 5. Court records did not immediately identify an attorney representing her.

Britt McHenry, the former ESPN host who recently joined the US State Department as a press adviser, has reportedly been pushed to resign by the Trump administration following a confrontation with spectators at a Washington Wizards game earlier this week.

The New York Post was the first to report the move, describing it as a forced resignation. The Daily Mail has sought confirmation with McHenry. The White House referred The Daily Mail to the State Department, which has not yet responded to a request for comment. 

The Post reported that McHenry, 40, was responsible for press matters surrounding corruption allegations that prompted Kimberly Guilfoyle to step down as US ambassador to Greece. She also advised on media issues involving Europe and Africa, according to the newspaper.

McHenry was attending the Wizards’ season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks when the incident unfolded at Capital One Arena.

Video obtained by TMZ appeared to show McHenry standing and throwing a drink at a nearby fan before swiftly leaving the arena.

As she made her exit, other spectators seated nearby appeared to throw objects in her direction.

According to the outlet, the altercation reportedly began after McHenry intervened when fans sitting behind her made disparaging comments about Bucks star Kyle Kuzma’s fiancée, Winnie Harlow, who has vitiligo.

A source cited by Page Six said the fans claimed Kuzma played poorly because his girlfriend was “ugly,” along with making other “terrible” remarks.

The source said McHenry asked one of the hecklers to “ease up,” after which the fan allegedly redirected the taunts toward the former ESPN presenter.

According to the account, the male spectator then directed “misogynistic” insults at McHenry and allegedly threw a drink at her. She responded by throwing a drink back.

TMZ’s footage showed McHenry tossing the drink before leaving her seat. Several objects were then seen flying toward her as she walked away.

Although other spectators appeared to throw items at her, McHenry remained composed, blowing kisses and waving to the crowd as she departed.

Her demeanor appeared to shift in the concourse, where she was captured in a heated exchange with a staff member who was directing her toward the exit.

A TMZ source close to McHenry disputed the suggestion that she had been ejected, saying she left voluntarily and intended to go to a bar.

The reported resignation comes just over a month after McHenry announced that she had accepted a role as a press adviser at the diplomatic agency, working under Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

She revealed the appointment in a social media post featuring a photograph of herself beside the official seal in the White House Press Briefing Room in Washington.

“It is true,” McHenry wrote on X. “I am honored to serve as a newly appointed press advisor to the State Department, our country’s highest diplomatic institution. Proud to serve for and work alongside some truly incredible people.”

In a separate LinkedIn post, McHenry wrote: “I am beyond excited to start this new chapter today and am thankful to every person who helped me in pursuing and achieving this opportunity.”

‘For 17 years, I have worked on camera covering the news. Now, I get to take that experience and apply it to our country’s highest diplomatic agency.

‘As a fellow Floridian, I have followed and admired Secretary Marco Rubio’s political career from its inception to the outstanding leadership he shows today in the Administration,’ McHenry wrote.

‘He has appointed an exceptional staff, and I look forward to serving them and our nation.’

The appointment marks the latest chapter in a turbulent media career that has seen McHenry frequently entangled in high-profile workplace scandals and legal battles.

She spent three years as a Washington DC-based reporter for ESPN before being fired in 2017 during a sweeping round of company layoffs.

During her tenure at ESPN, McHenry made headlines in 2015 when she was suspended after security footage caught her berating a towing company clerk.

She later issued an apology, admitting that she ‘allowed my emotions to get the best of me’ during an intense moment.

Following her ESPN exit, McHenry transitioned toward right-wing political commentary, making appearances on Fox News Media and Fox 5 DC.

France faced another surge of tension Friday after a suspected terrorist attack near Paris, with authorities bracing for the possibility of renewed violence during Saturday’s planned demonstrations.

About 70,000 law enforcement officers will be deployed nationwide, supported by helicopters, armored vehicles and water cannons. President Emmanuel Macron’s government is mounting the extensive security operation in an effort to prevent a repeat of last weekend’s violent unrest.

Macron said the government would prohibit demonstrations organized by individuals or groups without legitimate authority. He made the comments before canceling a planned trip to Nigeria and Senegal scheduled for the following week.

“The rules are simple and I think they’re just common sense,” Macron said. “The general recommendation is that there should be no demonstrations in the coming days.”

He said prefects would review requests submitted by trade unions in accordance with the law, but added that authorities would suggest alternate routes to keep demonstrators away from city centers, businesses and public buildings.

Security concerns intensified after a suspected terrorist attack in Trappes, west of Paris. Police arrested a 39-year-old man after one person was killed and four others, including a 12-year-old girl, were wounded in what authorities initially described as a “relatively random” shooting. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez later told local media that the motive may have been racist, adding: “The investigation is ongoing, but this is clearly a terrorist crime.”

The AFP reported that the suspect appeared to fire indiscriminately from a vehicle. Trappes’ mayor said the person killed and at least one of the wounded victims were “of African origin.” Macron said the nation was standing with those affected by the “terrible ordeal.”

With Saturday’s demonstrations approaching—and after acknowledging that police had “lost control” during the previous weekend’s unrest—Nuñez said his ministry was prepared. “We will be extremely vigilant, extremely firm, and we will let absolutely nothing pass,” he said.

Reuters reported that the Union Nationale des Étudiants de France, or UNEF, one of the country’s oldest student organizations, plans to proceed with its rallies despite authorities rejecting its permit applications. Police have approved only one union demonstration in Paris so far, while denying requests from UNEF and the Yellow Vest movement, the anti-establishment group that emerged in 2018.

Macron blamed what he called ultra-left groups for the previous weekend’s violence. “Last Saturday we had political and seditious acts by ultra-left groups whose aim is to bring down the Republic,” he said.

Fabian Vahemelryck, secretary general of the Alliance Police Nationale union, argued earlier in the week that political leaders shared responsibility for the crisis. He accused them of “excusing the inexcusable, justifying violence and preferring to overwrite police officers rather than condemn those who attack them.”

Vahemelryck also criticized what he described as a state that abandons police officers as violence becomes increasingly unchecked, while expecting them to accept the pressure, remain silent and continue holding the line.

Several major French institutions, including the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay, will close ahead of Saturday’s protests. Twenty-four Paris Metro stations are also scheduled to shut down. Meanwhile, Sunday night’s Ligue 1 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes has been postponed until Monday evening.

The NFL matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New Orleans Saints, scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Stade de France just north of central Paris, is still expected to take place. However, several weekend events connected to the game have been canceled.

Stade de France was also the site of an international soccer match between France and Germany during the Nov. 13, 2015, terrorist attacks. Explosions were heard outside the stadium while then-President François Hollande watched from inside. Authorities kept fans in the venue for hours as deadly attacks unfolded across Paris.

Republican attorney general candidate Saritha Komatireddy said Friday that she would declare a state of emergency over rising antisemitism if elected, speaking days after a young rabbi was allegedly stabbed with a syringe in Manhattan’s Diamond District.

Komatireddy, a former federal prosecutor challenging Democratic incumbent Letitia James, made the pledge at the scene of Wednesday’s attack. Video appeared to show a woman following 26-year-old Yousef Krish before apparently driving a syringe into his back.

“When I am attorney general, I will declare a state of emergency on antisemitism on day one,” Komatireddy told reporters.

She pointed to NYPD statistics released this month showing that Jewish New Yorkers, who account for an estimated 10% to 12% of the city’s population, have been the targets of more than half of all confirmed hate crimes reported this year.

“Every Jewish New Yorker is feeling the rise of hate in our city and in our state,” Komatireddy said.

The assault on Krish may be the latest episode in a continuing wave of anti-Jewish incidents. Police and law enforcement sources said he was walking on West 47th Street at about 6 p.m. Wednesday when a Russian-speaking woman began harassing him amid the evening crowds.

According to the sources, video showed Krish attempting to get away and stepping into the street, only for the woman to follow him and stab him in the back with a sharp object. He was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition.

“I’m still shaken,” Krish, who lives in Brooklyn, told the Jewish digital outlet Chabad.org. “I never imagined I’d be stabbed simply for being Jewish, right here in New York City.”

Krish recently received rabbinic ordination and travels each day from Crown Heights to Midtown, where he shares religious teachings with Jewish business owners, the outlet reported.

“As I try to make sense of what happened, I keep thinking about my grandparents,” he told Chabad.org. “They survived the Holocaust, experienced the worst of hatred, and still went on to build a proud Jewish family.

“I know what they’d tell me now: Don’t back down.”

The woman suspected in the attack had not been identified or arrested as of Friday. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force was investigating.

Krish’s father told The Post that his son was “doing OK” and remained under medical observation to guard against complications. The stabbing left his lower back bleeding.

“Everyone knows about it,” his father said when asked about rising antisemitism in the city. “Something needs to be done.”

Jewish New Yorkers have reported being punched or harassed without warning on city streets in recent months. In July, a man on the Upper West Side was stabbed in the chest as he left a synagogue by an assailant who allegedly shouted, “Allahu Akbar!”

More than half of Jewish New Yorkers of voting age have said they feel unsafe in the city, particularly since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel. Another 42% said they had been verbally harassed because of their faith.

“Even when we have the best police force in the world, and we do, they can arrest someone, but if there’s not follow-up through charging, prosecution, conviction, and sentencing, then it won’t work,” Komatireddy said.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher. Crime instills fear in communities. Crime intimidates. Crime makes people feel unwelcome.”

Komatireddy also called it “unacceptable” that she said the attorney general’s Hate Crimes Unit was not staffed under James. James’ office rejected that claim, saying the unit operates within its fully staffed Civil Rights Bureau.

“I will staff the Hate Crimes Unit, and I will ensure that we prosecute hate crimes and all crime in New York,” Komatireddy said. “I’ll do it myself if I have to.”

Komatireddy was joined by Rabbi Daniel Schonbuch — who compared the state of antisemitism in the city to “1935 in Germany.”

Republican state comptroller candidate Joseph Hernandez, who was also at the press conference, blamed Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his outspoken anti-Israel sentiments for fanning hatred.

“This has to stop. The mayor needs to stop,” Hernandez said. “If this continues, there’s going to be bloodshed. That bloodshed is going to be the responsibility of the mayor. We have to stop this trajectory as soon as possible.”

Komatireddy and James have been closely polling since their fierce debate earlier in October, with some polls finding the incumbent leading by about 50.7% to 44.7% ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

James, who has been AG since 2019, defended her history of addressing antisemitism in a statement to The Post — accusing Komatireddy of “political theater.”

“New York Attorney General Letitia James has proudly stood shoulder to shoulder with Jewish New Yorkers at every stage of her career — protecting communities from discriminatory scams and restrictive zoning — while our opponent plays politics,” a campaign spokesperson said.

Thomas Markle was accused of child abuse in a letter sent to Scotland Yard in 2018, according to reports that have now emerged.

The letter was addressed to the Metropolitan Police’s Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC), a specialist unit responsible for assessing potential threats to members of the Royal Family and other prominent individuals. It allegedly accused Thomas Markle Snr of sexually abusing a child.

The writer also claimed that the 82-year-old had acknowledged travelling to Thailand and the Philippines to abuse children. The allegations have not been proven.

The disclosure follows comments from the Duchess of Sussex, who said yesterday that she learned of the “troubling and disturbing” allegations shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry and was told they were being investigated.

However, the Metropolitan Police said on Friday that it could not confirm whether officers had ever passed the letter to Meghan, despite her claim that it was shared with her.

The Sun has reportedly obtained a copy of the letter, confirming its existence after Meghan spoke publicly about the claims.

The document is understood to have since been provided to police, who are carrying out internal inquiries to establish whether it was passed to the Duchess in 2018.

In a statement, the Met said: “We are aware of media reports that officers from the Met’s Royalty and Specialist Protection Command were involved in passing on a letter in 2018.

“We are undertaking internal inquiries in an effort to confirm this.”

The Daily Mail understands that the Met has never previously investigated Thomas Sr and is not currently conducting an investigation into him.

The force has also not confirmed whether any information was referred to law enforcement authorities overseas.

One source told The Sun: “Questions must be asked about whether the Met ever acted on the information contained in the letter.

“They promised Meghan they were investigating, but nothing appears to have been done at all.”

The latest claims follow allegations that Mr Markle had boxes containing child sexual abuse images at his former home in the Philippines.

His son, Thomas Markle Jnr, has reportedly accused him of possessing the material. Mr Markle Snr has strongly denied the allegations.

Meghan said in a statement this morning: “I am deeply distressed by the news that has emerged over the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.

“In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me.

‘It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.

‘I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.

‘I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families.

‘Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.’

The 82-year-old is facing ‘sickening’ allegations that he possessed a horde of child sex abuse material which included videos of girls under 12 involved in sex acts.

Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr made allegations overnight that he had found a large stash of child sex abuse images on computers and phones in four large storage boxes ‘left behind’ by Thomas Sr when he moved back to the US from the Philippines earlier this year.

The material is said to have been discovered in his home in the Philippines.

A specialist unit is investigating the claims in the Philippines, while the FBI has also been made aware of the allegations and is thought to be considering its own probe.

It was confirmed today that the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Philippines is investigating reports involving ‘an American national in his 80s’ who is accused of leaving child abuse videos and photos in his home in Cebu province.

Mr Markle, a former Hollywood lighting director, has strongly rejected the allegations, describing them as ‘sick lies’ and ‘the worst thing anyone could accuse me of’.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: ‘I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me.’

The Duchess has been estranged from her father since her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018, with Mr Markle never having met the couple’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
