Vice President JD Vance issued a pointed message for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying President Donald Trump is prepared to “part ways” with the longtime Israeli leader when U.S. interests demand it.

Addressing technology executives and entrepreneurs by videoconference at Tuesday’s All-In Summit in Los Angeles, Vance said the Trump administration is willing to create distance from one of America’s closest allies if necessary to protect its own priorities.

“Obviously Israel has been an important partner when it comes to military technology, when it comes to intelligence sharing, but also sometimes the United States doesn’t… agree with Israel,” Vance told attendees.

He said Trump “has shown a willingness to actually part ways with Bibi Netanyahu when he feels like the interests of the American people are different from the interests of the government of Israel.”

Vance further sought to draw a distinction between Trump and previous presidents, arguing that Trump is the only U.S. president in four decades who has been willing to break with Netanyahu. His comments came despite widely reported tensions between the Israeli prime minister and former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

After saying he would not allow US foreign policy toward Europe to become “subservient” to NATO, Vance turned his attention back to America’s closest Middle Eastern ally.

“We cannot let our Middle Eastern foreign policy be subservient to the state of Israel.”

The remarks reflect growing frustration voiced by both Vance and Trump toward Israel’s leadership in recent months, as the allies’ war with Iran continues.

In June, Vance warned that Israel has few friends left on the international stage who are willing to go to bat for the small nation of 10.3 million residents. 

His tough words have alienated the VP from some Jewish GOP donors and Israeli diplomats. 

The temporary ceasefire agreement that Vance brokered with Iran in June also angered some pro-Israel factions intent on sustained fighting with the Islamic Republic. 

Some criticized the deal for undercutting Israel’s goal of regime change in Iran.

Trump himself has also been more willing to criticize the Israeli leader when he thinks he’s being undermined. 

During a tense phone call in June after Israel unleashed a furious bombing against Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, Trump reportedly called the Israeli leader ‘f***ing crazy.’ 

‘You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your a**. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this,’ Trump reportedly yelled. ‘What the f*** are you doing?’ 

More recently, Trump told reporters that he would speak with Israeli leaders amid international concern that Palestinians in the West Bank have been persecuted.

‘I’ll be speaking to Israel,’ Trump said of the settlement issue. ‘I’ll be speaking to them, and I’ll find out what they, what’s their thinking. I understand exactly what’s going on. But I want to find out why all of a sudden does that happen.’

The UK, France, Canada and nine other nations jointly announced sanctions on Israel over the violence in the West Bank. 

Trump reportedly did not attempt to intervene or push back on the effort, signaling his reluctance to defend the close US ally against economic punishment. 

Trump last met Netanyahu at the White House on July 28, their first face-to-face meeting since the war with Iran began in February. 

Vance also met with Netanyahu at the White House this past July and in Jerusalem in April.

(Sept. 16, 2026 / JNS) A Gaza terrorist whom U.S. prosecutors say took part in Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, assault on southern Israel was captured in intercepted calls laughing and discussing rifles and ammunition while the attack was in progress, according to newly submitted federal court exhibits.

One transcript, filed Tuesday by prosecutors in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, documents an 8:55 a.m. phone call involving Mahmud Amin Ya’qub al-Muhtadi. Al-Muhtadi entered the United States in September 2024 and was arrested in Louisiana in 2025 on immigration fraud charges.

The Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel began at 6:30 a.m.

“How is the situation?” an individual identified in the transcript as Abu Haytham asks al-Muhtadi.

“Ok, what type of things do you have?” al-Muhtadi responds.

Abu Haytham says he had rifles but “no ammunitions.”

“Ok, are you ready?” al-Muhtadi asks.

“Yes, ready!” Abu Haytham replies.

“Ok, bring the rifles, and whatever you have,” al-Muhtadi instructs.

“Ok, bring ammunitions,” Abu Haytham says, as the transcript notes laughter.

“What?” al-Muhtadi replies.

“Man! That is not what I meant,” says Abu Haytham. “You are not normal.”

In a separate intercepted call from 9:33 a.m. filed by prosecutors, Al-Muhtadi laughed as he stated, “Ah, no, I went inside,” and told an unidentified caller to join him “at Malaka’s, inside.”

During the exchange, Al-Muhtadi repeatedly told those around him, “Be careful, don’t mention Al-Qassam! No one mentions Al-Qassam, boys,” and ordered, “Turn your phones off, boys.”

When the caller asked if he had “extra—ammunition and things,” Al-Muhtadi responded, “Yes, yes man. Yes. Yes.”

After the caller said, “So, I will come to you empty. I have nothing,” Al-Muhtadi instructed: “Just come, but if you can, secure a motorcycle to use it, in order to come inside?”

Prosecutors submitted the transcripts as an exhibit to a motion in limine seeking to compel the defense to provide transcripts of material it intends to use at trial.

Prosecutors say the calls support their allegation that al-Muhtadi directly participated in the Hamas-led assault.

Court exhibits also include a Sept. 18, 2024, online exchange after al-Muhtadi arrived in the United States.

An associate advised him not to contact “the resistance guys,” warning that he was “under surveillance for everything” and urging him not to publish anything.

“Um Amin, there is democracy here,” al-Muhtadi replied.

“If you post Al-Sinwar’s picture, no one will tell you anything,” in an apparent reference to Yahya Sinwar, who was the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the primary mastermind behind the Oct. 7 attacks against Israel, before he was killed by Israeli forces in October 2024.

Norway is facing sharp criticism over proposed legislation that opponents argue unfairly targets Jews. Under the measure, people who knowingly engage in certain business activities with Israeli communities in the West Bank could face prison sentences of up to three years.

Put forward by Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the proposal would ban imports of products from Israeli communities in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, while also prohibiting exports to those areas. The restrictions would extend to some property transactions, construction and engineering work, and investments involving companies based and operating in those communities.

According to Section 7 of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s consultation document, deliberate breaches could be punished by fines, up to three years in prison, or both. Negligent violations could carry fines, jail terms of up to six months, or both.

The legislation has not been enacted and remains open for public consultation, with submissions due by Sept. 19.

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon denounced the proposed measure in comments provided to News Media.

“Norway’s proposal to criminalize trade with Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria is the latest expression of their obsessive and openly hostile policy toward Israel. Instead of contributing to peace or regional stability, Norway has chosen political grandstanding, selective outrage and punitive measures against Israel,” Danon said. “This approach damages bilateral relations, encourages rejectionism, and exposes just how detached Norwegian policy has become from the realities of the Middle East.”

Israel’s Foreign Ministry, through its Northern Europe Department, also directed News Media to a statement posted on X that criticized the Norwegian proposal.

“Norway’s legislative proposal to criminalize trade with Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria is the latest example of the Norwegian foreign minister’s obsessive anti-Israel activism on the global stage. Norway has repeatedly chosen to sacrifice its bilateral relationship with Israel in favor of one-sided rhetoric and hostile actions that serve domestic interests, undermine efforts to reach peaceful solutions, and are completely detached from the reality in the Middle East.”

In response to a request for comment from News Media, Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred the outlet to its June 19 press release announcing the proposed legislation. The release states that Israeli settlements violate international law and undermine prospects for a two-state solution in which Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and freedom.

“By proposing legally binding prohibitions, the government makes it clear that Norwegian citizens and Norwegian companies must not profit from or support activities that help sustain Israel’s unlawful settlement activity in Palestine,” Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said in the release.

Eide also said the settlements contribute to “displacement, extreme violence and a situation that makes a peaceful solution impossible.”

The ministry cited United Nations Security Council findings and International Court of Justice advisory opinions supporting its position on the settlements’ illegality. It said the proposed restrictions would cover imports and exports, property purchases, certain property-related services and acquisitions of businesses with headquarters and production in the settlements, while safeguarding legitimate Palestinian activities and humanitarian assistance.

The proposed legislation would exempt humanitarian activities, as well as transactions the government determines have “sufficient Palestinian ties” and do not contribute to the construction, expansion or maintenance of Israeli communities.

Dag Juliussen, national director of the Norwegian branch of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, said that the exemption could permit business with Palestinian residents while criminalizing comparable transactions involving Jewish residents in the same territory.

“The bill is based on a fundamentally misguided understanding of the Middle East conflict, which in turn rests on a rewriting of history,” Juliussen said in a statement to News Media. “In addition, such a law would effectively serve as a reward for terrorism and, at its core, is deeply racist toward Jews.”

The consultation document does not characterize the proposal as targeting Jews. Instead, it says the measure is intended to prevent commercial activity that helps maintain Israeli communities beyond the pre-1967 lines, while shielding qualifying Palestinian commerce and humanitarian assistance.

Under the proposal, exemptions would be evaluated according to the people involved who benefit from the transaction and whether the activity contributes to the construction, expansion or maintenance of an Israeli community.

Juliussen said purchasing agricultural products from Muslim, Christian, Arab or Bedouin residents could be permitted, while purchasing similar products from Jewish residents could become a criminal offense. He argued that the determining factor would effectively be the identity of the seller.

Norway formally recognized a Palestinian state in 2024 and has become one of Israel’s strongest European critics since the Hamas-led terrorist attacks of Oct. 7, 2023.

Juliussen warned that the proposed legislation would not bring Israelis and Palestinians closer to peace but could instead deepen divisions and encourage extremist forces in the region.

Prince Charles allegedly told Earl Spencer in the days following Princess Diana’s death: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough,” according to a deeply distressing new memoir.

Charles Spencer’s explosive book, which will be exclusively serialised by the Daily Mail from tomorrow, recounts what it describes as a bitter dispute with the man who is now King over plans for Diana’s funeral.

The clash came after a decision to have Prince William and Prince Harry, then aged 15 and 12, walk behind their mother’s coffin in the funeral procession — a move opposed by Diana’s brother.

The Earl says he told the then Prince of Wales that Diana would never have wanted her sons to face such an intensely public ordeal at their young ages. Charles is said to have challenged the Spencer family’s sense of duty before making the alleged remark that his former wife — whose death prompted an unprecedented global wave of mourning — would quickly be forgotten.

Earl Spencer says the King’s alleged comments, made nearly 30 years ago, revealed “his pent-up contempt for Diana, and his horror that the world was so bowled over by her death”.

The account appears in Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, a memoir by the 62-year-old Earl Spencer, who says he wrote it to challenge “untruths” about his elder sister.

The Daily Mail can reveal that the book also contains a series of further striking claims concerning Diana’s unhappy marriage to King Charles and the turbulent period after she was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

Its publication is expected to place Buckingham Palace under renewed pressure, coming only weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK from California with their children.

On September 6, 1997, six days after Diana’s death, Earl Spencer famously delivered a defiant eulogy at her funeral that was later named one of the greatest speeches of the 20th century.

His raw oration in Westminster Abbey was delivered after he walked alongside William and Harry, as well as Prince Charles and Prince Philip, behind Diana’s coffin in a funeral procession through central London broadcast to 2.5billion people worldwide.

In his book, Earl Spencer writes that when one of Queen Elizabeth’s most senior aides told him in the days before the funeral that William and Harry would take part in the procession, he responded: ‘That’s not going to happen.’

But minutes later he received a phone call from Prince Charles who insisted that 18 years earlier he had walked in the funeral procession of Lord Mountbatten, his great-uncle, who he affectionately called ‘uncle Dickie’.

The memoir describes how Charles ‘went nuts’ after Earl Spencer pointed out that the Prince had been 30 at the time of Lord Mountbatten’s funeral in 1979.

In one of the book’s most extraordinary passages, Earl Spencer writes: ‘Prince Charles continued his stream of anger, without me interrupting. Then he stopped.

‘I assumed the pause signalled an effort to bring himself under control, but then he unleashed down the phone what I have always taken to be his pent-up contempt for Diana, and his horror that the world was so bowled over by her death. “Rest assured,” he hissed, “we’ll forget her soon enough!”’

Earl Spencer said that he was ‘so stunned’ by the alleged remarks that he took a few seconds to reply.

‘“I can’t believe you just said that,” I said flatly, before hanging up,’ he writes.

Earl Spencer’s description of the shocking outburst threatens to reopen the wounds of the so-called War of the Waleses and Prince Charles’s bitter split and eventual divorce from Diana.

Described as ‘historic’ and ‘extraordinarily moving’, Swan Song is due to be published worldwide next Tuesday – in the UK by Penguin Michael Joseph, a division of Penguin Random House – with the Daily Mail’s exclusive serialisation starting tomorrow.

It comes as police in the Netherlands investigate what publishing sources say is the ‘extremely suspicious’ theft of four copies of the memoir from a lorry earlier this week.

The Daily Mail revealed how a lorry packed with thousands of copies of the book, which were wrapped in black plastic to hide their contents, was broken into after it was parked overnight in a car park while the driver slept in the cab.

A recent travel survey found that nine in 10 business travelers view their hotel room as the only place where they can genuinely go “off the clock” while on a work trip.

Among 2,000 Americans who travel regularly for business, respondents said the hotel room now serves a purpose beyond overnight accommodation: it is often their sole refuge for truly disconnecting from work.

Business travel has long required professionals to maximize every moment away, juggling meetings, deadlines and opportunities to build relationships.

Yet in that packed schedule, meaningful time to rest and recharge can easily disappear.

Hyatt commissioned Talker Research to examine the modern realities of corporate travel, from scarce personal time and the expectation to remain available to the amenities that help guests stay productive while getting adequate rest.

For many road warriors, one of the most difficult parts of a business trip has little to do with flight delays, logistics or workload. It is the feeling that there is never a moment when they are fully permitted to step away.

One participant cited the “constant pressure to be ‘on’ with no real chance to fully recharge without guilt.” Nearly half of those surveyed, 46%, shared a similar feeling, saying they feel guilty declining optional work events so they can decompress in their hotel room.

In response, many travelers have developed inventive strategies for protecting a small amount of personal time.

Nearly half, or 47%, said they have gone back to their hotel room rather than attend networking events. Another 36% reported pretending to have meetings to secure downtime, while 33% said they have cited scheduling conflicts to skip work dinners.

For some, the reasons for opting out became even more creative.

A handful of respondents confessed to feigning temporary blindness, hearing loss or amnesia to get out of social obligations, while others blamed the need to FaceTime their pet or family — all in pursuit of a little uninterrupted alone time back at the hotel.

Along with being safe havens for rest and relaxation, hotel rooms are also business travelers’ after-hours offices.

In the study, more than half of respondents (53%) said they work most nights after their workday officially ends while traveling, while another 22% said they work every night.

In light of this, for today’s business travelers, success on the road is rooted in recovery.

And business travelers are relying on simple essentials to get them through grueling trips where they’re engaged and available throughout the day and working all night.

While they’re on the road, respondents admitted they’re most excited about the little things: getting to relax in their hotel rooms (40%) and enjoying the hotel’s amenities (36%) — underscoring the increasingly important role hotels play in helping business travelers recharge.

So as the pace of business travel evolves, so does the role of the hotel.

In the survey, respondents emphasized that a great hotel experience is a critical component of helping them recuperate, perform at their best, and, ultimately, have a successful trip.

And hotel quality matters. Nearly nine in 10 work travelers (87%) said their hotel can “literally make or break the success of a trip,” while 79% said staying at a high-quality hotel improves their work performance.

Yet, quality isn’t necessarily synonymous with luxury.

Work travelers defined hallmarks of a high-quality hotel as a venue where quality and service are consistent between stays and locations (46%), where the amenities are better-than-average quality (43%), and where there’s top-notch cleanliness and maintenance (42%).

And when it comes to hotel amenities, consistent basics top the list. Respondents cited a comfortable bed (31%), reliable complimentary Wi-Fi (31%), 24-hour food options (25%), complimentary breakfast (23%), and early check-in (22%) as their must-have amenities and offerings.

“For frequent business travelers, a high-quality stay is not necessarily about extravagance,” said Jason Ballard, senior vice president, global brand leader of essentials at Hyatt. “While on the road, business travelers need to be able to trust that essentials, from a comfortable room and reliable Wi-Fi to convenient food options and work-ready spaces, will be available where they’re staying. When those needs are handled consistently, travelers can focus on the purpose of the trip and find refuge as needed.”
