Netflix‘s Love Is Blind recently dropped its drama-packed third season, and we’d say the main cast members were overshadowed by their families and other uncoupled contestants.

For instance, Nancy Rodriguez’s younger brother, Steve, stole the spotlight when he lashed out after Bartise Bowden rejected his sister at the altar.

Then there’s Nancy’s other top choice, Andrew Liu who faked his tears with eye drops after he got dumped in the pods… Here’s the truth about that viral moment.

Who Is Andrew Liu Of ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 3?

Fake tears aside, many viewers were rooting for Andrew to end up with Nancy, instead of the “walking red flag,” Bartise. “Bro, Andrew from Love is Blind is THIS talented and Nancy still chose Poor Drake,” a fan wrote on Twitter. “She also had the nerve to say she wasn’t sure Andrew was smart. She really chose BARTISE who has nothing to offer but a plastic dangly earring.”

Frankly, they have a point. Though Andrew was pretty pompous talking about his globetrotting, he’s kinda got the goods to back it up.

His passion for wildlife photography has earned him awards like the Greatest Maasai Mara Photographer of the Year, Africa Geographic Photographer of the Year 2021, and the Fine Art Photography Awards 2020.

Nowadays, he works as a Director of Operations for a company called Aifleet. It’s probably the reason he hasn’t done much photography recently, as stated on his Instagram in August 2022. “It’s been far too long since I’ve gotten to spend some quality time with my photography,” he wrote at that time. “Dearly missing the plains of Africa and wild creatures that call them home.”

Why Did Andrew Liu Fake His Tears On ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 3?

In the clip below, you’ll see Andrew using eye drops after he was asked about being dumped by Nancy during a confessional interview. “What are you thinking about?” someone off-camera asked, to which he answered, “Are you rolling?” before using the eye drops.

“I never thought I could care for someone that would bring me to tears,” he then said after. He was sniffling and blinking throughout the interview, making it look like he was faking his tears.

Later on, Andrew implied that he wasn’t informed that the eye drop part would make the final cut. “I cannot confirm nor deny due to my contract. How unfortunate,” he said of the viral moment. But talking to Insider via Instagram DM, the reality star said that viewers “should feel free to draw their own conclusions” about the controversial scene.

“Just a couple words. People should feel free to draw their own conclusions,” he told the outlet. “After all, that’s part of the fun! It is a tv show after all. As for the scene itself, I cannot provide any details outside of the official story. Be outraged, if your heart compels you to be. Or don’t.” We’ll just never know what really happened there.

What Happened To ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 3’s Andrew Liu After The Show?

Andrew wasn’t present in the show’s intense reunion episode. But hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey, as well as the contestants acknowledged his “theatrical” confessional, as fellow contestant Sikiru “SK” Alagbada described it to E! News. “It was so dry on set,” Nick joked about the scene. “That was a moment and he certainly is going to have to live with that one for a while.”

Vanessa added: “You’re going to get all kinds of people on these shows. But at the end of the day, the cream rises to the top. The people at the end of it are going to be there for a reason — because they really wanted to be there and find love.”

However, most female contestants got upset about Andrew’s eye drop bit. Fan-favorite-turned-villain, Zanab Jaffrey said the scene was “trash” and to “throw it away.”

The show’s first plus-size contestant, Alexa Alfia also called him a “clout chaser” while Raven Ross — who redeemed herself after a rude workout moment in the pods — said he was a “weirdo.” But for another controversial male contestant, Cole Barnett: “I don’t think we have any hard feelings towards Andrew, that’s not what we’re trying to say. But he’s just funny.”

For the record, it was sweet of Andrew to assure Nancy that things were going to be okay when she opened up about her problems with Bartise during an all-cast night out. They didn’t pursue their romantic connection after Bartise rejected Nancy at the altar, but they remain on friendly terms and still follow each other on Instagram.
