Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian’s names have been intertwined since the early 2000s. At the time, Paris Hilton was already a celebrity. She had her own reality show The Simple Life, which was one of the first of its kind, and Kardashian actually worked for her. Kim Kardashian attributes her fame to Paris Hilton and the two have created a very strong bond after being in the industry together for so long.
That is not to say they have not had their ups and downs as friends. Around the time of Hilton’s arrest on felony drug charges in late 2010, Hilton and Kardashian were not very close. They had drifted apart and said some nasty things to the press. Eventually the celebrities found their way back to each other. Now, Hilton and Kardashian are the best of friends. Before Kim Kardashian was the name she is today, Paris Hilton ruled the entertainment industry. As an actress, singer, model, and businesswoman, Hilton had her hand in about everything. She had her own reality show from 2003 to 2006 called The Simple Life, which was one of the first reality shows of its kind and likely inspired Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Kardashian was featured in The Simple Life several times, and the show was the first documentation of their friendship.
At the time of Hilton’s reality show, Kardashian ran a closet organizer business. “I would work with Paris, and I would love to organize and clean out their closets and get rid of all their stuff and sell it on eBay and then shop for them, shop for her,” Kardashian told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in 2017. “That was my job. I loved it.”

As their friendship grew beyond simply Kim Kardashian working for Paris Hilton, the two began to travel the world together. Kardashian was in the very early stages of her career, and Hilton taught her how to get her name in the press. Together, Kardashian and Hilton would fly to an exotic location and make sure they were seen by everyone.
One particular location they loved to spend time in was Ibiza. Their trick for getting their names in the press and in tabloids started by showing up to a popular restaurant. Once there, Kardashian and Hilton would speak with whoever was there, commenting on the latest gossip. Their opinions and words would appear in tabloids the very next day. Though some fans may consider Hilton and Kardashian to be fake celebrities, there is no denying that they know how to make themselves famous and are very intelligent.

After years of their close friendship being plastered across every tabloid and magazine, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian’s bond seemed to crumble. Though they did not experience a large falling out, Hilton and Kardashian certainly drifted apart for several years in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
The feuding between Hilton and Kardashian began in 2008. Seemingly unprompted, Hilton dissed Kardashian’s figure by calling her butt “cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.” Though fans do not know what went on between them behind scenes, they were clearly in a bad place at the time.
The fighting continued in 2010 when Kardashian allegedly ignored and mocked Hilton in Las Vegas. Hilton was upset about the interaction, but many people viewed her reaction as jealousy. Kardashian was not following the path Hilton took to fame and success. The Skims owner was doing things differently and arguably better.
5 Kim Kardashian’s Reaction To Paris Hilton’s Drug Arrest
Around the time of the previously mentioned Las Vegas incident, a much larger scandal was brewing for Paris Hilton. In August 2010, Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas for cocaine possession. This was not her first time in trouble with the law. In 2006, Hilton was arrested for driving under the influence and later for driving with an invalid license. She did 23 days in jail for the offenses.

The 2010 scandal was much worse. While driving with then boyfriend Cy Waits, police pulled their car over after seeing marijuana smoke coming from the car. Paris Hilton was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, which she later admitted was hers. She was sentences with a years’ probation, community service, and a fine.
When Kim Kardashian was finally asked about her friend’s arrest, Kardashian admitted they had “drifted apart” and that she would never be like Hilton due to the fact that she does not do drugs nor is a big drinker. “We don’t really talk,” Kardashian admitted to Harper’s Bazaar. “There comes a point in life where you just grow apart and realize you’re not as similar as you thought.”
4 Kim Kardashian And Paris Hilton Reunite
After years of feuding and not speaking, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton chose to put the past behind them. They both had matured since their scandalous days—Kardashian was no longer making sex tapes and Hilton stopped getting arrested. Their first documented reunion after all their drama was in August 2014. They both attended designer Riccardo Tisci’s birthday party and Kardashian shared a photo of them together on social media.
“We’ve known each other since we were little girls, we’ve always been friends,” Hilton said in an interview of Kardashian in April 2015. “It’s nice to inspire people. I’m really proud of her and what she’s done.” Some Kardashian fans found Hilton’s comment of inspiration to be quite rude, but Kardashian herself has since credited Hilton for her career. The comment did not stop Kardashian from inviting Hilton to the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve Party in 2016, so there was no bad blood between them regarding the statement.

Once Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton’s friendship was back in tact, the two celebrities quickly fell back into their good habits. They had loved working together in the early 2000s with Kardashian’s closet organizing business, and now that they were both in better places financially and famously, working together again seemed like the perfect idea.
Hilton appeared in Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 6 collection. West was married to Kardashian from 2013 to 2021 when they split. West has since moved on and remarried. At the time of the collection, though, working with West was like working with Kardashian, especially considering Hilton’s apparel for the photoshoot.
Hilton was dressed as a Kim Kardashian look-alike for staged paparazzi pictures. To continue working together and solidifying their friendship, Kardashian had a cameo in Hilton’s music video for her song “Best Friend’s Ass.” Hilton more recently has been a part of Skims campaigns and supports Kardashian’s brand on social media.
