Two teenage boys have been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Mikey Roynon.

Detectives from Avon and Somerset’s Major Crime Investigation Team have charged a 15-year-old boy from Dorset and a 16-year-old boy from Wiltshire with murder and possessing an offensive weapon.

Mr Roynon died from a single stab wound at a party at a property on Eastfield Avenue in Bath on June 10, after 200 people crashed the event after it was advertised on social media.

The charges come after a magistrate granted officers more time to question the pair.

Both suspects, who currently remain in police custody, will appear before magistrates at Bristol Youth Court this morning.

The victim was known locally as aspiring drill rapper 'Mikey' or 'YM,' and was attacked during the bash that locals say was crashed by a 200-strong mob after being advertised on social media. His injuries were so severe that he died at the scene

Avon and Somerset’s senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Mark Newbury said: ‘This is a significant development in our investigation and in our quest to achieve justice for Mikey.

‘His family have been informed and specialist family liaison officers continue to support them. They have been at the forefront of our minds as we’ve carried out the enquiries which have resulted in these charges.

‘The investigation is ongoing and there is still a lot of work for us to do. The cordon has now been reduced but officers are likely to remain at the property for the next few days.

‘The support of the local community has been invaluable and I’d once again like to thank them for their patience and understanding.’

The victim, aged 16 from Bristol, had just finished his GCSEs and worked part time as a loader for Siggs of the Dump, a licensed rubbish clearance and waste disposal operating in the Bristol area.

He had been due to start a full time job as a loader there this week.

Paying tribute, his boss Craig Sawyer said: ‘He was a great lad with a great heart. He was an amazing lad and all my customers loved him.

‘He used to ring me before school and after school to work, he was a hard worker. All my customers loved him and will miss his smile and politeness.

‘He was due to start full time from today, as he’s just done his GCSEs, which he was looking forward to.’
