Residents in an Edinburgh street have been left bemused after council workers resurfaced the entire stretch of their road – except for one small area occupied by a parked car.
Tarmac workers seemed to have been left with a sticky problem after a vehicle remained on Craighouse Gardens, Edinburgh, despite the council sending out prior notice to residents with a warning that cars would be towed if they were left on the street.
But one black Hyundai car marked with the Enterprise Car Club logo remained in its spot during the works.
The whole stretch of road in Morningside has now been renewed except for that one area, with an image of the unusual situation going viral after a resident posted a photograph of the scene on social media.
Commenting on the picture, the resident said: ‘Looks like they missed a bit during the resurfacing works at Craighouse Gardens.’

A spokesperson for Edinburgh Council said contractors would return to finish the road ‘in due course at no additional cost’. Pictured: Craighouse Gardens before the resurfacing works
Another ‘confused’ resident told Edinburgh Live they were warned by the council to move their cars before works began.
They said: ‘I noticed [the car] was parked in the car club spot so maybe they couldn’t lift it without permission from Enterprise.
‘It does look quite daft and obviously workers will now have to return to resurface that spot once the car has been removed.’
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Council said it was not always possible to remove every vehicle before works begin and that workers would return ‘in due course at no additional cost’.
